This hotel is simply Devine and the staff - Dee especially- we’re so accomodating and welcoming. Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment (maybe penthouse) and it was so spacious and lux. After we booked the wrong the dates, they kindly helped fit us in and sort out last minute change with Booking.com. We also dined at the restaurant which was really good (had steaks). Right in the heart of the town, also a lovely town with beautiful streets, alleys and charm plus a lot of shops as well. Worth a walk around to see the history. We stopped by Carlisle to break up a journey from Scotland to South England.

Just needed somewhere close to Carlisle Station. This was perfect. I wanted to leave my luggage while I went into town… normally I could but it was closing for Christmas. This sort of information should be available before. It has what I can only describe as a safe but ANTIQUE lift. Everything is old but safe and functional…. So very small town British. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was great.

On arrival at 5:50 pm I was advised that the lift was not working and that, having been allocated a room on the second floor, I would have to use the stairs. I advised that being close to 70, I have a knee that does not permit stair climbing or descending and so doing causes pain. The receptionist could not have cared less, offered to carry my light bag, but I reiterated the problem was not the weight of the bag. Receptionist said that the left was actually being serviced (at 6:00pm-no service personnel evident) After struggling up the stairs I arrived to find cans of paint, rollers and ladders stacked outside my door. The smell of solvents was overwhelming. Checking with reception I was advised “the decorators were in”. On what planet is it either appropriate or safe to have tins of flammable paint and solvent and stacked outside guest rooms in addition to equipment leaning against the walls. Off to find another hotel where guests are accorded more consideration and safety.

Very basic-looking hotel : reception is someone sitting at the bar with a laptop! Yet very friendly and does it’s job. Room seems very basic but has everything you need - bed nothing impressive to look at but very comfortable! No view but good vértice blind system. Shower fantastic - bathroom basic but spotlessly clean. I decided the thing that makes a hotel look “cheap” is the flooring! Breakfast offered bacon, sausages, eggs and even boiled eggs - also tinned fruit and yoghurt. Machine coffee. I was happy with my stay. Staff happily looked after my cases while I went into town; all very friendly. Nearby restaurants and cinema …. Station 5 minutes walk. Very convenient.

So after 2 yrs of wedding cancellations because of Covid we finally celebrated our wedding on 3rd September 22, we got married at Gretna Green , after visiting Cumbria Park a couple of years ago we decided this was the perfect place for our reception. Our first visit saw the start of major refurbishment , the bridal suite was non existent at this point and bedrooms were being re decorated . We have dealt with Wendy Ambler throughout the journey and nothing has been too much trouble. We had our reception in the Hadrian Suite with lovely patio . The food was just perfect , beautifully cooked and presented , pipping hot , and served with professional efficiency. Thank you to everyone on the day and a big thank you to chef and staff you made our day complete. I can't recommend Cumbria Park hotel enough , have stayed there as a guest and used the facilities for our wedding, both without fault . Thank you Wendy for making the day run smooth it was so very much appreciated. Karen & Steve xx

Carlisle is the ideal base to explore the grandeur of the Lake District. And Premier Inn Hotel Carlisle Central North is a grand place to stay, putting you within easy reach of the national park as well as the business and leisure facilities of the historic city centre. Whether you're strolling along Carlisle high street, or stomping along High Street Fell, there's plenty to distract you here. Some visitors come to buy livestock at the Harrison & Hetherington auction market, others to spend time on Hadrian's Wall. Every September there's the Tour of Britain cycle race too. Then it's time to unclip from the pedals and unwind back at the hotel with our extra-comfy beds and a delicious meal at the restaurant next to us.

My wife and I have just had a short break (much needed). With that in mind, the Pinegrove proved to be ideal, and the perfect location for what was required. The hotel was impeccably clean, the staff gave us both a courteous reception, delivered a succulent breakfast each morning a thoroughly enjoyable stay (2 nights - 3 days) We would highly recommend.
