6.7 kilometers from the city center, a bit far. There are no attractions nearby. In the morning, the airport is too early for 4:00. Flybus can't pick up the hotel. You have to spend more than 3,600 Icelandic krona to fly to the Flybus terminal and transfer to Flybus to the airport. The breakfast was good, but the early departures were not willing to provide breakfast. If you want to bring breakfast out of the hotel early, you will be asked to pay extra. The original paid breakfast fee is not refundable.

201 Hotel staff were very nice and allowed us to check in early. The rooms were comfortable with no extra frills. It was a great hotel, close by bus stops, to call home base while we were exploring Iceland. The breakfast was simple but filling: croissants, toast, cereal, etc. My only complaint is about the other travelers. There is a cart to bus your breakfast dishes…which means throw away your trash, scrape off your plate and put your dirty silverware in the basket. A lot of travelers did not do this and to us, that’s inconsiderate of the staff. So, if you’re reading this…please bus your dishes.

I have nothing to say, I highly recommend it, there are several advantages: 1. Although it does not contain breakfast, the pots and pans are all full, you can do it, and you can eat well; 2. The problem is coming, what do you do? Shopping? The road is opposite to the supermarket, and there are supermarkets around, everything is there; 3. The location is not in the city, but the road within 4 kilometers, the basic self-driving here, so there is no problem; 4. The airport is closer than the city, and it will be fast in a while.

The staff of the Hostel are very responsible to solve problems for the guests. There are washing machines and dryers, and the charges are reasonable. ISK2000 is cheaper than some hostels, but the location is a bit far away from the city, and it may be inconvenient for those without a car. There is a very comfortable common area. There is also a hairdryer in the common area, so you don't have to worry about making noise to other guests at night.

Hotel was clean, and overall nice. Free breakfast was very nice and had a wide range of food (bread, yogurt + toppings, make your own waffles, beans, eggs, coffee & tea); there is also a communal fridge on the 2nd floor. However, a few VERY IMPORTANT things to know regarding this hotel being self-service: 1. You are supposed to receive an entry code to get into the hotel 24-48 hours before arrival. We did not know this as we had booked through a credit card rewards program. We arrived to the hotel through the parking structure and were met with a key pad and a sign saying that all guests should have a code in their email. We called two numbers for the hotel and could not reach anyone - so we just called constantly and sat outside the building door for ~30-45 minutes. Finally some guests left and held the door open for us so we were able to be in the lobby. It was around 6pm which is when the bar opens up, so we were finally able to find a staff member who helped us. Our credit card company also finally got in touch with someone and we received our email with the code. So FYI - if you have not received a code within 24 hours, make sure you reach out so you have time to get into contact with the hotel as they do not appear to answer their phones all the time (email may be more effective). 2. The parking structure is difficult to park in - it is an underground structure, so just be prepared to park in a slightly tight space. However, the parking structure leads directly into the hotel which was very nice! 3. As it is a self-service hotel, we were having trouble opening and closing our door (we couldn't get it to lock). We were able to ask the man tending to the bar for help; but he was only able to do a temporary fix; I feel at a non-self service hotel we may have been able to get a different room with an appropriately functioning door. We just had to use lots of strength and make lots of noise to slam the door shut to lock it - not the biggest deal, but just a small note. 4. Just an FYI that this location is not in the city center of Reykjavik (you would have to drive or take the bus to get to the city center). This place is more residential, with grocery stores (which we went to) etc. We had stayed in a hotel in the city center earlier in the trip; and this was a very different spot of Reykjavik. Just FYI that Reykjavik is massive! Overall nice, clean hotel - but the self-service aspect does have its pros and cons (you just don't have the 24/7 support you might have at another hotel when little things go wrong etc.).

This is a small hotel located outside the capital of Iceland. The only advantage is that there is a cheap pig supermarket next to the hotel. It is convenient for shopping and the room is small. It is not recommended. The sheets are not changed. Reykjavik should live in the city center, dining is convenient, Vietnam 🇻🇳 restaurants are many.

We really enjoyed our “bigger” room as a family of 4. Very spacious, modern and has nice lighting. The kitchen island was brilliant as we were able to let the kids make their dinner while we went out to a lovely restaurant nearby. The location is perfect for the charming old downtown area. It’s only 5 minutes to the downtown airport if you are flying out domestic. They have some parking right in front, which isn’t the case for other high end hotels downtown. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would absolutely stay again!

This hotel is the perfect location for a visit to Reykjavik. The main shopping street and many restaurants are within walking distance, as well as the old wharf where the whale watching ships are located. The staff was great, the coffee house excellent. Make sure to get a superior room; the second time we stayed we were not given that type of room and it was smaller and on the noisier side of the hotel. On the weekends, the bars close at 4:30 am, so there is much partying going on!

This hostel has a practical and functional location only. The only reason to stay here is for it’s convenient pickup and drop off stop for tours and the airport. The room was a 4 bed dorm and was stark. Located opposite the kitchen and above the main entrance meant it was quite noisy too. The bunks are very, very basic. There aren’t charging points at each bed in this particular dorm (3) and the blanket provided is a decorative throw. The cleaning left a lot to be desired. Regularly had to ask reception for hand soap in the toilet, paper towels and toilet paper. The Wi-Fi is non-existent and the reception staff are totally ambivalent; they are pleasant but absolutely no desire to help. Plausible deniability comes to mind. You only stay here for the location that allows you access to all that Iceland has to offer.

I’m trying to write a balanced review … so here goes … Benefits: Location Clean rooms L’OR coffee machine … but there is a but later on …. Nice chocolate offered on check in but just slapped into my hand! 2 x bottles of water offered again just dumped into my hand no here we are complementary snacks and water on behalf of Canopy Hilton … I found this level of service not good. Set backs: Diamond member - remember a serious amount of money spent at Hilton brand hotels and extreme loyalty to the Hilton brand - No upgrade offered, but suites still Showing on Hilton app for entire stay and on booking.com Canopy Hilton might have shown the same commitment back to top tier members loyalty and in-fact a poor attitude and extremely lacking in customer service on front desk I would say 8/10 times during stay. No milk for L’OR coffee machine only creamer!! No milk for tea in room Poor bathroom amenities no shower cap, no toothbrushes, no razors etc had to ask not great! Housekeeping said they had none … asked at front desk and the Hilton colleague opened a draw full of amenities!!! Making guests go down to reception to beg instead of just providing in room!!! Demonstrates Poor customer service. Then to be told we may not have orange socks or shower caps we may have run out … surely at a top rated brand hotel there is stock take and orders are placed in a timely fashion! Not impressive from Canopy Hilton at all. No orange socks in room, but left bathrobes again poor customer service. No welcome to Canopy Hilton thank you for being a diamond member …. Again poor customer service not recognizing loyalty. No executive lounge - no drinks vouchers given to diamond members as in other Hiltons - seems mean and lacking in customer service. All in all as a diamond member felt a little let down after really looking forward to my trip especially at this brand of Hilton in a great location. Feels run by people who either haven’t been trained adequately, they have no commitment to the Hilton brand or simply just have no idea about hospitality.

My sister and I stayed here for two nights at the end of our Iceland holiday. Centrally located just a 5-minute walk from the Hallgrimskirkja and a 20-minute stroll from the harbour. I had been a bit worried about parking so I had emailed the hotel in advance to ask and got a very prompt response. It was astoundingly easy to park close by and we got a lovely friendly welcome from the hotel staff; in fact all the staff we met were really friendly and chatty. The room was a reasonable size (initially made up as a double but this was swiftly altered to a twin while we were out whale-watching) and had everything you need (including a fridge). It was a bit stuffy in the room, even with the little window open so we had the room door propped open for a while but, as I think Iceland was experiencing record hot weather at the time perhaps it's not fair to criticise! Our room was on the first floor but we didn't experience any of the noise from the restaurant/bar that some other reviews have mentioned. Would definitely recommend as a good location for a stay in Reykjavik.

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Cabin very much, largely due to the eager-to-please staff, especially Lenny at the front desk. Rooms are small but quite adequate; I didn't expect to be spending a lot of time in the room except to sleep. (The bed was excellent.) The lobby area is a great [place to congregate and/or meet new people. After a long day of touring the many wonders of Iceland, I was very pleased to come back to the Cabin to relax. My only problem was with the continental breakfast, which was OK but lacked variety. I would definitely stay again, largely due to the terrific staff (Lenny, Bianka, Katya).

Check-in and check-out instructions were clear. Emails were received promptly prior to our stay. Good location - apartment was easy to find and very close to Laugavegur Shopping Street. Good base for tours as Bus Stops #9 and #10 are just close by (around 3-5 mins. walk). Apartment was very clean and cozy, with soft comfy beds. Good amount of space to move around. Kitchen essentials were available - pots, pans, dishwashing soap, plates, utensils, spices, coffee machine and pods, tea, spices were available. Bathroom was clean and spacious. We had a room on the 4th floor with a balcony, overlooking Laugavegur. Even though it was a Saturday night, we weren’t disturbed by any noise, and the room had a nice view of Hallgrímskirkja. We were pleasantly surprised to be able to check in at 12pm when we went to ask if the hotel could store our bags for a few hours until check in at 3pm. The lack of breakfast was not a problem, as we tend to skip breakfast and do brunch instead. I would stay here again. I traveled to Iceland with my fiance and our toddler and used this as our home base for the week. We really wanted a place with a kitchen and a place for us to hang out after his early bedtime, so this apartment was perfect for that. We were able to make many of our meals in, use the washer dryer (thankfully manuals for all appliances were in one of the kitchen drawers), and hang out in the living room while he slept in the bedroom. The location of this place is great - right on the main street. I agree with the reviews that the provided directions could be a little better. Basically look for the small tunnel next to the IceMart that's right at the bottom of the Rainbow Street and go through it, and there you are! This is not a luxury hotel, as some other reviews seem to have expected, but it's a perfectly serviceable and clean apartment in a great location. Cons: No on-site parking. We had no problems finding free parking by the school near Hallgrimskirja and walking, and we also quickly loaded and unloaded in the parking lot right on premises (which I think is for the restaurant and that's why you can't park there). MINOR concern because I brought my own- The bathroom only had sets of shampoo and conditioner, no body wash. Pros: Self check in was easy and allowed us to check in early in the morning upon arrival (we booked the evening before to ensure we could check in). The location is great. We didn't find it to be too loud, but had brought a small sound machine from home for the baby so that might have something to do with it. We loved having a washer/dryer and dishwasher and small kitchen to use. The shower has GREAT water pressure!!! We loved the clean and bright Kronan grocery store right around the corner. Overall this was a great stay and I would return to this location!

The location is excellent. You can see the church as soon as you step out. It is very close to the airport bus and the bus for group tours to pick up 🚌stop8 (just to the left of the church). The boss is a Vietnamese restaurant owner. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed when I checked in, otherwise I would have had to eat a big bowl to satisfy my craving! But there was something strange about the boss. He sent a message the next day saying that I took away his house keys when I checked out🔑, my God! When checking in, the boss told me that when leaving the hotel, I just need to close the door and insert the key in the door. I'm a severely mysophobic patient, why would I take someone else's keys? And I have to go to many places to play. Taking away the keys and adding weight will make me full! So when you check out, remember to take a video and keep an eye out! Otherwise, if you leave, it’s hard to tell who took it away as a prank!

This was part of a 8 day tour where we spent 4 nights in the hotel. It really was the perfect base for a non-stop, busy trip to Iceland. The location is absolutely perfect - very central to the main tourist spots in Reykjavik but also in a cool, vibrant, modern part of the city itself. The hotel itself is at a great location. We were greeted with warm and friendly smiles. This place is a real gem. The staff is super friendly and eager to help. The room's are also clean and generally in good condition. Very comfortable bed. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Kitchen was great and so handy after our day trips. Staff are very courteous and helpful. Everything was delightful. Staff was professional, courteous and so helpful. We are thankful to Mariko and Tinna who took great care of us during dayshift and María in the nightshift. Through them, I can see the Icelanders quality of being kind, helpful, and honest. There was some confusion with our sight-seeing tour, which obviously made us a bit worried, however, the staff went out of the way out to help us. We felt so comfortable and peaceful there. We stayed 4 nights, but came back and stayed for 2 more nights on our way to UK after visiting AKUREYRI! But the best thing about Leifur Eiriksson is the people who run it. Kex… Ugh such a frustrating review to write. I really wanted to like the Kex hostel it has its good points, but overall was the worst hostel stay I have had in Iceland. I’ll give you my very detailed opinion. The Bad… -Lacking in the toilet paper department!!! We were on floor 4 there were several private bathrooms with showers and also separate locker room style bathrooms. At 7:30 AM I ran to the bathroom after finishing my business realized there was no TP! Ugh. Anyway afterwards I looked through the different open stalls with toilets. Only 3 toilets on the whole 4th floor had TP! To me having adequate TP is an essential thing. The bathrooms weren’t restocked until 10AM ish. And we aren’t even in peak tourist season. We mentioned the issue to the staff and they said “just call next time you need something” kinda hard to “just call” when you have already done your business in the bathroom and you need something to wipe with! They need to have staff check the bathrooms more frequently. -The kitchen is sad in the “equipment” department. One of the reasons we stay at hostels is to cook our own food. Maybe they are trying to push buying food from their restaurant. I get that they get a lot of traffic. But the cooking pan selection is -Terrible- nasty old pans that the thrift shop would discard. Janky handles, and interior coating mega gouged out. Don’t come here expecting to cook at least on level 4. -No way to make coffee!!! Again they probably want you to pay for their breakfast. But there is no option to make coffee. No coffee pot, machine, or way to make a filter pour over etc. Don’t bring coffee grounds expecting to make your morning brew. There was an electric kettle, but again no way to make coffee unless you brought instant. -The showers need a good bleach and scrub. The walls had black mold growing on them. Considering the fact that Kex was our most expensive hostel in Iceland (we paid 20,906 for a private double, with linens, and shared bathrooms…or $153 US) compare Kex to the Svjarborg in Stykkisholmer $90 US or Halfdan HI Hostel $63 US ( in both we had a private double & shared bath) but both were awesome and had a fully equipped kitchen with decent quality pots, options to make coffee, and plenty of toilet paper. I understand that being in the city we can expect to pay more. BUT I expect that price to include: -enough toilet paper -a means to make coffee -decent cookware. The good… -The location is great. Easy walking distance to the main shops/streets. And the ocean right across the highway. -Awesome “vibe” cool decor, lots of couches/lounge areas. -Entertaining/Social. In the evening there was group song trivia in the main area, and in another a live band. -Our room a private double with shared bathroom was large, and we slept well. (Note: I have never stayed in a “quiet” hostel so I always travel with a sleep soundtrack on my phone and a melatonin) -The staff was all polite In conclusion, I have traveled on 4 contine

Stayed in a lower level rear room next to the lift. No lift noise but no views either but since we were there to sleep that didn't matter too much! Sheets were so comfortable, really fabulously soft. Staff were helpful and the hotel was city centre and close to things we were interested in. We greatly enjoyed our stay!

My wife and I stayed here for four nights before embarking on a cruise. Room was very comfortable and was serviced every day at our request. When departing and boarding the cruise ship my wife realized that her small jewelry case was missing. I immediately contacted the hotel by email and within 10 minutes had the response that item had been located. Hotel offered to send it back to states but within a female minutes suggested that she would give item to taxi driver who within an hour delivered it to ship. Definitely will recommend hotel to others visiting wonderful Reykjavík

The price of the hostel, Airbnb feels, there is a kitchen, many groups will pick up and drop off directly at the hotel. There is a convenient supermarket next to the hotel, and everything is convenient. But there is no elevator. If you are lucky, the hotel will see that you have no strength to carry luggage, and you will be upgraded to a room on the first floor for free. Haha (the third floor is a shared bathroom room)

The environment is beautiful, the housing conditions are clean, the service facilities are good, the design structure is unique, and the geographical position is unique. In the international market, there is such a hotel with high cost performance, and the description is worthwhile, so we must have a compliment here. Will continue to live one.

The staff here is very friendly! I booked last minute for my mom and I when we were stuck because of the weather and they were really accommodating. I really liked our room. It was spacious for us. The entire feel of the hotel was cozy. They offer a nice breakfast. They have a large area to sit and also games in case you get bored. I would stay again!
