This hotel has just a few rooms I think, in an excellent location and a nice old (maybe 200 yer old?) building. The ceiling height was amazing. Our room looked over the Cathedral square, which provided great entertainment on a Saturday evening, with lots of children running, learning to ride scooters, and on bicycles. There was some sort of bicycle gathering and supervised graffiti paining on canvas also. I didn't take photos when we arrived since we've just outwaited a downpour and trekked through light rain to find the place but I did take a photo of the maid's work in the morning. He or she made graceful arrangements of our towels and also my pajamas, which I'd left under the pillow! The staircase is beautiful, curving upward, but one needs to pay attention particularly coming down on the triangular shaped treads. I counted 22 per floor as I recall, and we were two floors up. Luckily the staff took our baggage up for us. The bed and bathroom were fine as I recall and we may have had a frig as well. We slept well and were happy to be quite close to all the old parts of the city, and just 2 or 3 blocks from the intercity bus station. It worked well for us. In summer this might be hot. If there is air conditioning (I don't recall seeing any) the tall rooms could render it ineffective.

Ok, I travel a lot and I've been already to many boutique hotels/studios but this one was exceptional. The design was typical Cretan with heavy Venetian and Ottoman influences. I loved the balcony which gives on a narrow street. It is actually kind of a window where you have to step on kind of a low stool to reach the balcony. The bed was very confortable and the room spacy. There was even a note on the table telling us that they left for us Cretan delights and Schnapps. The bathroom had a stylish Venetian marble. The Check-In process was unique as we were provided a pin code for a key box per E-Mail. With this code we were able to open the box and get our keys (for both main door and our room). All in all, a highly recommended hotel in the city center of Chania. Keep in mind that the whole city center of Chania is car-free so you'd have to park your car in nearby parkings or at the port. Keep up the good work!

+ Rooms are really nice: simple, clean and modern (I loved the bathroom faucet!). + Location is excellent, right in the middle of an old town. Hotel lobby (where you pick up the keys) is really close. + Tv, air conditioner, safe locker, small refrigator, toothbrush, small shampoo bottle etc are found in the room. Also free wifi. + Bed is great (semi-hard mattress is really good for your back!) and memory foam pillow is great. - Once you enter the building where the rooms are, you notice an odor which is best described as a mix of fresh paint and a mold problem. Later I noticed that air humidity is quite high and water stays on a shower floor for a very long time, if you don't wipe it with a towel. There's definitely mold problem in this building. - Closed windows don't block any sound here, so bring your earplugs if you are bothered by sounds when you sleep - there's a small restaurant behind/under windows and you can hear everything, loudly. With ear plugs I slept very well. - No light-blocking curtains in the rooms, so you might wake up early in the morning because of the light. - Tiny, black, flying butterfly-looking insects in the bathroom. - And finally the worst: Cockroaches. Hotel stuff was really nice until I very politely told them that there was two cockroaches in my room. No apologing, no nothing, just explaining that "we don't have them in our house, they come outside". Well, of course they originally come from outside, but my windows were always closed, those cockroches were really fat/big (there's restaurant in same building) and they knew exactly how to navigate in the room so they definitely weren't there "by mistake" or just because of an single accident. Despite the moldy odor and other little minuses I first really liked this place and was planning to come back with my family, but this cockroach-episode and how to stuff handled it, changed my mind. I left 4 euro tip every day for the cleaners and tried to be a nice customer in every way, but when there's cockroaches in my room, they don't even apologize or say that it's unfortunate. Because of that, my earlier 4/5 ranking is now 2/5.

This was my second visit to the Elia Bettollo and it will always be my first choice in Chania. Spotlessly clean room, beautiful bathroom with spacious walk in shower, air conditioning, along with a balcony with views over the old city. There was even a Krups coffee maker in the room. Took breakfast at a table on the balcony while enjoying the wide range of cuisine on offer. Charming receptionist made me feel very welcome.

We enjoyed 3 nights at this hotel, had the room with the small balcony overlooking Skoufon Street which we used for drinks and taking in the Greek atmosphere- it was not too noisy. We liked everything about this hotel, location was excellent right in middle of old town, room very clean, breakfast as we were during Covid was served to us rather than buffet, but very good. I give my review 4 stars because of check in system. We arrived on a late flight not able to check in until 10.30, I emailed a few days before to advise of this and clarify arrangements but got no response- we arrived at hotel but door locked, and no message / sign on door- we phoned and were told to go to a reception place a few meters away, which we couldn’t initially find, it was ok finally but did cause us stress after a long journey that could have been avoided if the hotel had responded to my emails, I sent two in good time as anticipated there maybe a problem. We would stay here again and would recommend, just a shame about check in experience and lack of information.

What an amazing location!!! You do get dropped off a short walk from the hotel as it is in the historic district and they don't let cars in at certain hours plus the actual hotel is only accessible by an alleyway. Our room was on the top level overlooking the beautiful harbor and we stayed here 4 nights as part of our honeymoon and it was just beautiful, we will definitely be back to this hotel. As a welcome there is a small carafe of raki infused with honey (which is really nice) that is refilled as needed and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Nicos who was on reception was great, incredibly friendly and helpful with recommending restaurants etc, reception is not manned 24hrs so you need to use your key to get back in. We didnt have breakfast at the hotel as as soon as you walked out of the hotel there were just so many to choose from. HIGHLY recommend this great hotel when you visit Chania, right in the heart of everything.

Myself and my wife booked a last minute 4 day trip to Chania from Dublin at the end of October 2019 and arranged to stay bed and breakfast at the Belmondo hotel. It was just great. It is right behind the old harbour up a little side street. The room we had did not have a balcony/terrace but it was a beautiful old room with multi colour paints on the walls and ceiling. There are some hotels to the front and back of the hotel which look superb and which have balconies - some of them looking out over the beautiful harbour so talk to the hotel about which one you want. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The front door closes at 10pm for security reasons but you get a key!! There is a pizza restaurant under the hotel though I don’t think it is linked to it and we didn’t try it. The hotel is an elegant old three storey building without any lift but the stairs are not difficult. Breakfast can be served in your room or there is a small veranda outside the front door where you can sit and eat. Breakfast was slightly different every day and very nice. The variation was either an omelette or spinach pitta or a toasted ham/cheese sandwich. You also got a dish of yogurt, possibly a boiled egg and some bread and other trimmings. The hotel is beside the old harbour and loads of nearby shops and restaurants so a perfect place to stay in the town. They arranged a taxi from and to the airport for us at €23 each way which was reasonable. Lovely bathroom in the room, safe, hairdryer and stuff. Nothing much on the TV but that’s no problem! WI-FI works well subject to the odd very few seconds of blackout if you’re using your phone to listen to radio on line. Room has a lovely feel about it. If you don’t like hard beds you might have a problem with the hotel - i don’t mind firm mattresses but it might not be to everyone’s liking. That aside I would highly recommend the place and - bearing in mind of course that it was low season - the price was very reasonable and we had sun and 25 degrees all day every day even though it was the very last few days of October.

My husband Richard and I stayed at Chania Inn for 5 nights (29 July to 2 August 2019) in a double room with balcony and sea view. The hotel is centrally located in the beautiful old port of Chania (above Lithos restaurant). We absolutely loved our room – it was spacious, very tastefully decorated, completely soundproof and the views overlooking the port were spectacular. The complimentary prosecco, fruit and water upon arrival was very much appreciated. But the biggest thing that sets Chania Inn apart is the Cretan hospitality shown by staff at the hotel and at Lithos restaurant where we had breakfast every morning. Prior to our arrival, Nick and Noni were very helpful in arranging transfers and a Samaria Gorge tour for us at late notice. Special mention also goes to Fotis who was so sweet and accommodating. Fotis checked us in, ensured we were comfortable each day and provided us with lots of valuable information about Crete’s sights and attractions. Fotis is especially passionate about Samaria Gorge and he ensured we were fully prepared for the hike and even arranged lunch packs for us to take. A truly memorable stay – highly recommended. We will be back!

I loved staying at this room. It was so clean. Its location is just inside the center. At night we stayed on the balcony to enjoy the nightlife from above. You may get a little bit annoyed of the noise at night but after midnight pubs lower the volume.

We stayed in Portou Due, rooms serviced by the nearby Elia hotel. You cannot drive to the rooms, you will be dropped either by the Alpha Bank at the top of Halidon or in Talos Square at the bottom of Theotokopolou, the hotel and rooms are just a short walk. Our suite had a bedroom with very comfortable queen bed, air con, towelling robes, slippers, etc etc. Lovely! And located in the heart of the old town, it was a wonderful stay. Angela on reception was an absolute star! Highly recommended.

All the previous reviews are true! We stayed a total of 8 days in the first floor apartment, the Laurus. The bedroom was large with nice architectural features, bathroom small but doable. The breakfast was very good, accompanied by quality music...classical, jazz, bossa nova, etc....something different every day. Sokrates and Rena told us where and what to see and provided more information than we thought we needed to know. My husband and I found them to be an interesting couple. If what you want is a 5 star hotel, this is not that. It’s much more actually because most hotel operations would not be able to compete with the level of hospitality and fellowship offered at Hanim. Warning: be extra careful when traveling on the metro in Athens. My husbands wallet was stolen which we later learned through newspaper articles that theft is very common in tourist areas. Thank you all for a wonderful stay. Megan and Carl

The difference between good accommodation and great comes down to the ‘one percenters’, the attention to detail in small things - quality toiletries, a welcome pack, branded towels/books/maps, a USB port next to the couch, an in-room coffee machine, good water pressure, double ply tissues, excellent daily housekeeping, a soft-close toilet seat, a soundproof room. These boxes are all ticked at Querini. In a terrific location in the heart of Chania old town, next to the Agora, our host, the gentle Manolis provided a warm welcome, greeting us like old friends and spent time explaining how room features worked, local recommendations on where to go and what to see - he followed up on every question we had, even dropping off some extra treats throughout our stay. The welcome pack included cake, rose, raki, fresh fruit and a fully stocked mini bar all of which was included in the room rate. We occupied the deluxe suite and as a couple it suited us perfectly. The suite itself is thoughtfully designed and tastefully decorated - comfortable bed/pillows, block out window furnishings, spacious bathroom including rain water shower, a cute balcony from where you can watch life in Chania go by. Facilities included a smart tv (with Netflix available at no extra charge), umbrellas, power adaptor, safe, beach towels, dressing gown/slippers - almost anything you could need. We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and boutique accommodations and Querini is truly one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! PS Also if your stay in Crete is one part of a bigger travel adventure, it’s great to know that at the end of the street (Tsouderon) there’s a self-serve laundry where for a few euro you can do a load of washing - super convenient!

This is one of the most warm-hearted hotels! Especially in the middle of the night, I came to an unfamiliar city and met the staff who really waited for a long time. The kind of warmth is beyond words. Thanks to their dedicated service, I have a deep memory of the hotel's creed: HOSPITALITY COMES FROM HEART. Since we wanted to go to the Samaritan Grand Canyon the next morning, we did not know how to pick up the bus or ship. A touch of black. MR MARIOS on duty that night gave us the most patient help. At 6 o'clock the next day, I also asked the hotel's food and beverage department to prepare a rich breakfast for each of us. The hotel's room has two hair dryers, which is great for ladies with long hair or curly hair! Of course, there are ironing utensils. The warmest thing is that there are tea bags, not just coffee, which is really a seemingly insignificant but warm heart for Chinese tourists. The breakfast environment is very bright and clean. The waiters are plentiful, they are always watching silently around you and providing the necessary services in a timely manner. It is worth mentioning that even if there are many people, the whole dining atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful. Under the sunshine, there is a pure and beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel!

Our room was lovely - spacious, charming, airy and filled with characterful objects and imagery. The Ottoman theme is beautifully realised and all fittings and furniture is of a very high standard. The location is excellent and there is much to see and do within walking distance including restaurants, bars, culture, shops and beaches. Most lovely of all though are the attentions and care of the hosts Andreas and Alex. Nothing is too much trouble, aptly characterised by Andreas’ morning enquiry of ‘now is there anything else we can do to make your day more special?’ Assistance with car hire, reservations for dinner, recommendations for places to see and things to do were all offered and taken. It really made the difference in turning a hastily booked attempt at escaping Covid 19 into a holiday we will treasure and are determined to repeat. As has been said the breakfasts are lovely with local flavours and a good variety. I waited too long to try the Sfakia pie.. Can not recommend this place enough.
