Not bad, it’s expensive, the rest is OK, the room size is also good. It feels like if the room can be bigger, then there is no problem. The breakfast is not fixed.

This is such a lovely and unique place to stay. My husband and I stayed here Nov 2018 and my husband will be going back there in Jan 2019. The food was superb. The owner extremely friendly. The gardens amazing - I'd love to come back in the summer to spend time. Each room has it's own character and overall this is a place where you just want to linger. Loved it.

We were given our room at reception - It was in a dreadful state - unmade bed dirty towels - Not cleaned- We returned to reception - No apologies- just given another room. This room was tidy but small - a big man would find using the shower and loo difficult. The toilet roll holder is made of sharp metal and it was hard to avoid damage to myself. The beds are low to the ground - If you are getting on a bit they are difficult to get off. The Light above the bed is made of sharp steel. I sat on the bed and when I sat up to see the TV, I cut my head on the Light. I had to move the beds. - Did not get much sympathy from the reception. The Breakfast was good but not enough tables. had to hang around until one became available. I would think twice about using this hotel again.

Stayed 1 night and it was a nice stay. The room was spacious and clean. Check-in was efficient and staff friendly. Extra corona measures were in place. I would highly recommed this hotel if you want to be close to the old town but not in it. Breakfast was nice and one could sit outsite at the water front (Old Rhine). There is plenty of free parking, We also had dinner in the hotel and were were surprised that it did not at all meet the standards of a Van der Valk hotel (see my review of the restaurant - De Haagsche Schouw)

The hotel is just opposite the train station, you can see it at a glance, the bus stop in the middle, the bus to Keukenhof stops here, very convenient, but not noisy, very quiet. The size of the room is ok, but there is not much room after the bed is placed. The bathroom is quite big, very clean, but the toilet is too strong, and the flush will splash out of the toilet.

Leave the Leiden Central Railway Station to the left and turn 150 meters to the intersection. The room is large and cost-effective.

This is not a hotel but a house with several rooms for hire. First you check in at another hotel close by. You get good information about this by mail a day in advance. The staff was very friendly and let me leave my baggage there because of my early arrival. At 3 pm I got my key and at first the hotel was slightly hard to find but it's the first house on the corner of the square. It has a sign saying LOT Hotel. A guy at the restaurant with the same door showed me which key to use for the front door when it was closed. The stairs was pretty steep and I wouldn't be happy if I had heavy luggage, but this time I was lucky. The room (205) has its charm and especially compared to most business hotels I usually visit. The room was clean but the toilet lacked toilet paper. Lucky me I managed to find some staff before they left. The bathroom is very cramped but functional. No shower curtain. No AC - windows need to be open. If you're over 190 cm there's a big risk you'll hit your head. Overall a fairly nice room at a decent price. I understand many people have different views on what's acceptable, but I like the charm. Located at the very center of the city. Bars and festival might be a problem to light sleepers but the room itself gave me peace.

We came across this hotel by accident and have since then stayed here many times over the years. Herberg Welgelegen is a very special place. It is very welcoming and has a very relaxing and serene atmosphere. It is a place of recovery and comfort. The building and all the rooms are charming and finished to a superb standard. The rooms are big and everything you need is there. There is also a shared space for prayer or meditation, which has beautiful views. The location is beautiful, next to an old river, close to the nice city of Leiden but also close to Katwijk and the beach. The breakfast is wonderful, with homemade bread and fresh products. This hotel is a perfect choice to visit Leiden or Katwijk, but also a amazing destination in itself.

Exceptional location however, the Foundation holding this amazing location is missing a trick. Bigger rooms or a select area for more high end guest would generate more revenue. Why? The restaurant is exception and the chef is above and beyond the prices charged is let down my amenities such as room is holding this location back. Albeit the rooms are modern revenue generation would be higher if beds were not foam, especially the pillows were of a higher quality. The outside area by the rooms had better chairs and a table which is not the case at this time. The availability of an ice machine would be helpful. The focus on conferences is limiting the utilisation of this location. Keep up the good work otherwise. Please keep the chef, some of the more senior staff at Breakfast and Dinner could be better advised the customer know best rather than arguing the validity of the genesis of gin and how it should be drunk. Breakfast should, this is a personal thought allow personalised eggs, such as an omelette. When there is other events such as a conference / offsite or a wedding visitors should be advised in advance. This was not the case when I arrived. This impacted the location receiving a 5 star rating. The hotel and grounds were restricted for two days.

The BEST WESTERN City Hotel Leiden is located in Leiden縮, 'city of discovery', and lies in the heart of this historical city, within walking distance of many shopping streets and museums, including Museum de Lakenhal, where masterpieces by Rembrandt, Jan Steen and Lucas van Leyden can be admired. The Best Western City Hotel Leiden combines traditional and contemporary influences and offers you a pleasant stay. The hotel is located in three monumental historic buildings that were fully renovated. Our 3 Star hotel offers 39 rooms, which are spread over four floors. Each hotel room is decorated in a different style. The rooms are comfortable and feature modern furnishings, a double or twin bed, a safe, telephone, television and radio, as well as a bathroom with shower and toilet. Our Junior Suites are spacious and have a cozy sitting area. Leiden has a rich history and is known for its beautiful canals, historic buildings and culture. The city is also called the City of Knowledge, as it is famous for its science and research. The University of Leiden is the oldest university in Holland, it was founded in 1575. Leiden is also called the 'City of Discovery'. It is the place where Rembrandt was born and learned to paint, where Doctor Boerhaave taught, and where the first Dutch tulips were brought into blossom, about four hundred years ago. Leiden is a wonderful city to explore for leisure travelers, but business guests are also very welcome at our hotel. It has very convenient conference facilities, such as a multifunctional conference room with all amenities. Our staff will be happy to answer all your questions regarding meetings and conferences.

Just finished a four-night stay while attending a scientific conference. I really cannot say enough good things about this place. Everything from start to finish was exceptional. The location is a combination of historic canal houses that the owners have creatively preserved while providing beautiful modernisation. I felt like a “local” each time I stepped out onto the street and walked along the quiet and beautiful canal to the many nearby shops and restaurants. Everyone there was incredibly welcoming. Note that with historic preservation if your room / suite is on an upper level you will be climbing levels of beautifully restored but traditional circular wooden stairs - not riding up on a glass-enclosed elevator with piped in music playing. This is part of the ambiance that gives the place it’s historic character but something to keep in mind when reserving. In my case, being in the “senior citizen” category but 1K and moving past 2,000,000 lifetime miles with United I wouldn’t hesitate to book the 2nd floor suite I had again and this would be the first place I book to stay on a return Leiden visit. Just a wonderful place to stay in a beautiful city. That’s it.

That day, the hotels in Rotterdam and Amsterdam were all booked, and I finally booked this one, and the price should have gone up. The location is rather off, it should be difficult to get there without driving. The service attitude is okay, it seems to be the hotel of a small football club. Free parking, there are parking spaces
