Mrs Parton: We stayed at Villa Margherita for 5 nights. We can not rate this hotel enough. The precautions for Covid were brilliant and we felt really safe. Masks worn by all staff and guests had to wear masks in public areas. The hotel is beautiful, clean and leads out to the front of the harbour and nearby beach. Our room had a balcony (which I would recommend for the views) it was clean, comfortable with lovely sea inspired fabrics. The pool area and gardens are really pretty and so relaxing. The restaurant food was delicious and breakfast was a great selection of continental goodies. Locally there are a few nice restaurants mainly serving seafood. You will need a car to see the amazing sights of Sardinia. We hired one from reception. The majority of the north can be visited from here with Porto Rotondo, Olbia 30 minutes drive. Fino beach is 10 minutes drive and worth a visit. Tempio Pausania is amazing with its coloured cobbled streets. We also did a wine tour at Suarru, it was fabulous! Overall what really made our stay here was the staff. Attentive, kind, polite, thorough i could go on. Reception staff greeted us by our names as we walked in, walked us to our room, helped us hire a car and were just generally lovely. The restaurant staff from morning breakfast to late evening were just incredible. The ladies and gents work so so hard and do such long hours but always have a smile. Bringing drinks to your table via a buzzer system in the evening or round the pool in the day we cant thank them enough they made our holiday so relaxing. Our room was made spotless everyday by the wonderful ladies who cleaned and the hotel looked pristine. Thank you. I'd like to also mention the gentleman who maintained the pool area and gardens. Every morning the pool and surrounding area was cleaned meticulously and he really worked hard to ensure this. Thank you Villa Hotel Margherita. We highly recommend

My girlfriends and I stayed for four nights at Hotel Maria July 25-29. The hotel is literally one block from the beach and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. It is SUPER CLEAN and the beds are very comfortable. We booked a two-room suite to accommodate the four of us. Plenty of space, windows that open, great a/c. The shower is a tad small, but we managed. Outdoor drying rack on the second floor for bathing suits and towels is a huge plus. Great WiFi. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Many do not speak fluent English, but we managed just fine with our Spanish and limited Italian. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, the espresso outstanding. There's a market below the hotel that has a great selection of Italian groceries. Swing by to pick up pastas and oils to bring home for your friends and family.

Our stay at Hotel Castello was lovely. This was our first visit to Sardinia - and we learnt very quickly that the only way to get around is to have a car. Our stay was only for four days and as we had not booked a rental car - the cheapest option we were quoted was €1000. Andrea at the Hotel immediately helped us with an option to use their preferred taxi service supplier. He organised Sebastiano to fetch us from the airport and drive us around at an affordable rate. The views at Hotel Castello were exceptional. The hotel also advised us on traditional restaurant options. They made bookings for us and even went beyond assisting us with portable Umbrellas to the beach. The breakfast was ok especially as we did not have another option. The driving service and friendliness from Sebastiano and his friends was amazing. They went above and beyond to give us an incredible experience. We have made friends from our journey too! We are so grateful and happy for our holiday at Hotel Castello! We got so lucky that we could use the taxi service - otherwise our experience would have been very different. Thank you! P.s if you manage to have a full moon night - the View is indescribable!

My husband and I have just returned from 4 nights at this hotel and I have to say that the reviews that we read before going where somewhat a little different to our own experience. Of course we have to remember that it is an unusual time so I will try to be as honest as possible. I pride myself on my honest reviews giving praise where applicable. So-here you have it! The hotel is two buildings, not connected with any signature touches so one could be fooled in to thinking it is two separate hotels, which it is as the road runs between both. We opted for the Pelican Beach based on reviews and I have to say it was a good decision so much so that I noticed guests from the Pelican Resort and Spa were using the facilities of our hotel. The hotel is quite remote with no shops and only a few restaurants scattered around. There is one supermarket about 1klm away so a car would really be the best option for this hotel unless you are looking for a very sedate holiday. There is a bus service to Olbia but only runs past the end of the road every 30 mins and the last one back is about 8pm at night. It was 35 euros to get there from the airport by taxi and 40 euros on our return trip. Our room was nice, large and cleaned every day by the friendliest person in the hotel. She was super sweet and efficient and looked after our room without fault. The wifi in the room and the whole hotel was quit frankly-pants! The room had a tv with channels that did not function at best but the shower was nice and the water hot. We were really surprised to find out though that although we had paid extra for the Pelican Beach we were not eligible to sit on the grass at the front of the hotel... We were asked for 50 euros a night for a room with this privilege..Needless to say we declined, complained a little and proceeded to sit on a lounger on the lawn for the remainder of our stay. This I found quite bizarre as the only other place was the small section of private beach that was not that nice. The sea in front of the hotel had a strange smell of bad eggs, so of course I did not snorkel in it at all.... We never found out the reason for that but I guess it does not take a genius to work out what the smell was. We booked breakfast and as we had already been in Italy only two weeks before my husband called the hotel to enquire about the breakfast situation. We were told that the breakfast would operate as normal, buffet style, but to be honest that was not correct. The buffet was behind a screen served by a middle aged unfriendly guy. The selection was very limited and the only egg option was scrambled or very cold hard boiled eggs. Any other egg option was a charge of 5 euro per egg...unbelievable considering this is not a cheap hotel. Porridge and orange juice are also extra. Trying to get a coffee in the morning too was always a challenge, always having to ask two or three times to prompt. We spoke to some other guests about the challenges the hotel is facing and they all agr

This hotel is definitely 3-star, not 4-star but, with just 42 rooms, it is a delightful haven of peace and tranquillity, with welcoming Reception, Room Service, and Waiter staff. It has very much a traditional feel about it. We stayed in the first half of September and the grounds are very pleasant, with palm trees and flowers, and plenty of sunbeds and fixed umbrellas (helpfully with the attachments which can shade your head if you wish). No issue at all with anyone reserving sunbeds, but this is probably because most residents just head down the road to the private beach area, also with sunbeds and umbrellas, so the hotel and grounds were fairly deserted during the day ! There is a small freshwater pool and a wonderful spa tub with various bubble settings – it’s just wonderful sitting by the pool, late afternoon, with great grounds around you, looking down to the sea. Breakfast is the usual wide spread of teas, coffee, juices, cereals, fresh yoghurt, meats and cheese, cakes, and a small selection of hot food, although often this is near-cold due to only putting 1 tealight under each bain-marie ! So easy to fix – don’t know why they serve this food cold. If you’re half-board then you eat in Nino’s restaurant next door (a large round building) where you have a choice of 3 Primi (including a fresh pasta dish) and 3 Secondi courses (see photos of sample menus), all of which change daily, followed by, often a huge slice of water melon or strawberries or, often, Tiramisu. Nino (the owner who, apparently, created a lobster and spaghetti dish, which attracted famous visitors, and built the hotel, naming it after his daughter) is incredibly visible, throughout most days and the evenings, and takes a hand in all jobs – you get the impression he has a very close eye for detail and drives the standards, which is great to see. Most rooms don’t have balconies, and many face inland not sea-facing, but you can’t really see the sea anyway, unless upstairs. The beach, with private loungers and umbrellas, free if you are half-board, is less than a 5-minute walk down a road from the hotel, and there are 3 bars/restaurants on the beach (the middle one, Mamabeach, is great for late afternoon cocktails or beers and light snacks or meals) – really not busy at all at this time of year. The hotel is not really close to anywhere, including shops, so a car is strongly advised (the free car-park, with loads of space is opposite the hotel), although there is a bus-stop, to Olbia, for only €1.50, less than 100 yds up the road. The rooms are basic and clean, and WiFi coverage is excellent and quick enough (although each code you receive can only be used for two devices, so you have to get another code if you exceed this). There is extensive free parking just across the road, which is really handy if you have a hire care. Would we stay again ? Definitely, for a very leisurely, chilled-out break.
