3.12km from Chilango's Mexican RestaurantMy son and I stopped for our second night of our 3 day road trip to Lubbock. I had tried booking the Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Comfort Suites, but for some reason, no rooms were available for that night at any of those. This led me to this Days Inn. Going by prior reviews, I didn't think it would be all that bad. Well, we were pretty disappointed in this hotel. Considering we're traveling during a pandemic, cleanliness is paramount and reading the Days Inn/Wyndham response to COVID, I figured they would do a little more than normal. Unfortunately, we got the normal. The first thing I did was wipe down everything with clorox wipes (Disclaimer: I did the wipe down at other hotels we've stayed just as an added measure). I didn't see any grime or other evidence of filth on the wipes when I was finished which was a pretty good sign. I also didn't see (or smell) any evidence of a deep cleaning I would expect in these times. The room smelled either musty or like it had been smoked in at one time or another (it was supposedly non-smoking), and the AC didn't do a great job keeping the humidity at bay. Needless to say, we got up early and got on the road as soon as we could the next morning. We didn't partake of the grab and go breakfast, but the lady at the counter during check-out was pleasant although she was not wearing a mask (according to Wyndham guidelines). For one night, it served its purpose and gave my son and I something we'll remember for sure. I've stayed in worse, but the reviews here are misleading. I don't see how this place scores above a 3. I paid the same rate for my one night here as I did for a Springhill Suites in Nashville the night before. If you can find a different place to stay in Paris, I suggest you avoid this one. I'm stressed having to travel during this pandemic and sending my son to college during one, but if masks are mandated, please wear them. The ladies at the front desk made no attempt to properly wear one (check-in lady) or wear one at all (check-out lady). Having to hand over a drivers license and credit card without knowing if they've washed their hands after setting up the reservation online, just doesn't make sense to me. Other hotels asked the last 4 digits of the credit card to make sure I was who I said I was. I wish there were fewer touchpoints in the whole process. This place seems stuck in the 80's.
