Do Not Recommend. I received a request before arrival that I was to advise of arrival time and someone would meet me at the property which was a bit alarming, we were traveling to multiple locations for several weeks, I was expecting more of a hotel. We did so, then stood outside on the sidewalk of an office type building in blazing heat waiting for someone to meet us (picturing someone coming from somewhere else to show us where to go), no one showed up. The name Salerno Prestige was on a plaque near the entrance so it seemed to be the right place. The building manager saw us while he talked on the phone on the sidewalk. After several minutes we went inside and then the building manager came in and ignored us. After awhile he very gruffly asked us what we were doing there. I told him and he sent us up a floor and rattled off something in Italian. We had to rely on a couple more bystanders for further directions, across a courtyard, the elevator around the corner. Finally found a reception desk up a floor or two. Everyone was nice and helpful while checking in. The room was OK for the price. Inexpensive IKEA furnishings, marks on the walls here and there, very clean, the main bed had 2x4's nailed to the legs that stick out beyond the bed, in the tiny space. I bashed my foot into them on multiple occasions. The futon bed was very uncomfortable with a lump running the length up the middle, the main bed modestly uncomfortable. The walls are very thin, you can hear everything going on in other rooms. The breakfast situation and checkout were bizarre. A very basic breakfast is served in the dining area outside the 4 or 5 small rooms. You are told at check in which table is yours. The first day, no problem. The second day we had to leave to catch an 8:40 train and determined we had just enough time to grab a croissant from breakfast and run. We went out at the breakfast time which I believe was 8:15. Several tables were set. The maid said there is no breakfast for us we need to get breakfast downstairs, no idea what that meant although when we checked in we were told if we had to leave before breakfast we would have to eat at a different location and were handed an ad for a bakery or something. I told the Maid (who was very sweet but spoke no English) through Pantomime that I needed to check out. She asked if I had paid. I replied through a guest who was able to interpret that I wasn't sure, although they had my credit card information--really I couldn't remember it was a long trip with many destinations. She said I would have to pay her in cash in order to check out. Of course I wasn't about to do that. After much discussion, the clock ticking away, no breakfast, she accompanied me to the "reception" area on another floor. It was 8:20 there was a woman there who said checkout time is 8:30 and pointed to a sign. I told her I couldn't wait until 8:30 because I was catching an 8:40 train to Florence. She made the International sign for That's Y

We stayed here for four nights while visiting the Amalfi coast. There were nine of us so we basically had the entire place to ourselves for 3 of those nights. There are 4 rooms in this b&b. It’s in a regular mid rise building, so you could miss it. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Our room had a newly renovated bathroom. Breakfast every morning was quite good, the usual Italian fare. Sylvia was always there early getting everything set up for us. She was so sweet and helpful. Gave us good advice on what to see and how to get to Capri sine the direct Salerno to Capri never seems to actually run. Location is fantastic, close to train station, the main shopping street, and a 5 minute walk to the Amalfi and Positano ferries.

My friend and I travelled to the Amalfi Coast last June (2019) and had originally booked a quaint B&B in the mountains for our accommodation, but as we were only there for a long weekend and had decided not to hire a car, we decided to switch to a hotel closer to local transport links instead - it was a bit more expensive but ultimately the best decision ever! It was a lovely stay and we would both happily return! When we arrived, there was a major refurb in full swing with some scaffolding and building work going on (which we were informed of prior), but this didn't bother us at all. We had earplugs with us but didn't Our twin room was big and airy, with high ceilings, air con and ensuite bathroom with a shower - it was so hot we both had at least 2 showers a day! Everything was spotlessly clean and continued to be each evening we returned from our day trips. The staff were wonderful too, so welcoming, warm, and friendly. Most of them spoke English too, which was refreshing as we had not perfected our beginner's Italian conversation techniques just yet! Breakfast each morning was a lovely affair - self service traditional continental with a variety of hot and cold drinks, cereals, yoghurts, fruits, bread, cold meats, cheese, and delicious mini plain and filled croissants. The Hotel Plaza is located a stone's throw from both Salerno train station and the local ferry port, where we caught ferries to other coastal towns along with connections to Capri and other islands. The hotel is also located along the street from the shopping district, a pedestrianised promenade lined with palm trees with old fashioned buildings hosting a few bars and restaurants too. All in all, a super place to stay, highly recommend!!

I stayed one night with my wife and daughter. The location was superb within easy walking distance to the train and ferry. The room was very modern, updated and comfortable. I paid extra for a parking spot for my rental car. It was a very secure garage very close by. The owner allowed us to leave our car for the entire following day as we toured the Amalfi coast. He also provided storage for our bags for the day. On our return, he personally took us to a nearby gas station so that we could fill up before continuing our trip. Without a doubt, this B&B exceeded our expectations and we were very happy we stayed at La Collina dei Ciliegi.

This is a fantastic guest house, located just one block from the waterfront and immediately in front of the wharf for ferries to Amalfi, Positano, etc. The guest house is two rooms with a shared kitchen. Our room had a small balcony with a laundry rack so were able to catch up on some laundry by handwashing. The room was immaculately clean. Only complaint was that the shower was difficult to get in and out of and I never did figure out how to get the hairdryer plugged in as it seemed to only fit the bathroom plug, which was blocked off. Like many guest houses, you are mostly on your own once you check in as the landlord is off site. There is an amazing coffee bar across the alley, which the landlord even provided coupons for.

Keen to visit the Amalfi Coast, I had originally planned to base myself in the towns of Amalfi or Positano. However the high accommodation prices in these cities places deterred me from staying in either town. I decided to look elsewhere. The city of Salerno, a port city, with excellent public transport, was the obvious alternative choice for me. The city has great ferry connections, train connections and bus connections. It is a living Italian city which has not been destroyed by tourism, unlike some of its neighbouring towns! After 3 nights in Sorrento, I was delighted to escape the thousands of tourists for calmer Salerno. Salerno itself is worthy of a visit and has a gorgeous historical centre. I visited its wonderful Duomo and I Giardini di Minerva. I enjoyed great food in Salerno too, again void of the high prices of its more famous neighbouring 'touristic towns'. Now to talk about the Bruman: The Bruman Hotel has an ideal location, being right at the train station and a mere 5 minute walk from the ferry port. The city centre is also within walking distance. If you're travelling Italy by foot, this hotel is ideal. The hotel is basic but modern and clean. The staff are very friendly and attentive to guests' needs. Basing yourself in Salerno really makes sense for visiting the Amalfi Coast. It also has the benefit of having easy access to popular sites such as Pompei, Rome and Naples - to name but a few. If I were to return to Salerno again, I would definitely consider returning to the Bruman. Grazie!

My husband and I had booked a 3 night stay prior to leaving the UK which we extended to 6 nights once we arrived; the view was breathtaking and the room was lovely. There were only 11 rooms and at partial occupancy it felt a little like having our own private villa with very efficient and friendly staff. The Good: this villa was clean, the breakfast was plentiful, the view amazing and the pool area was quiet. There were lots of options for sun beds or sofas or tables around the pool and also shade and full sun; it never felt crowded. The room was spacious with efficient air conditioning and a huge bathroom. The staff were lovely, and had varying levels of spoken English ( I don't speak any Italian) but we got things done very easily and when asked they provided us a lovely but simple lunch, ordered us a taxi and generally kept everything running smoothly. Being high on hill meant that it was much cooler than the old town where it was quite stuffy. As a dog lover I enjoyed seeing the owners dog out in the front driveway, a lovely old labrador who would amble slowly about. This made the place feel much more informal and friendly. Don't worry if dogs are not your thing they are very much kept away from the public areas. The Bad: almost nothing. The view came from being perched on top of a big hill and other reviews will mention the 300 steps and the escalator that shuts at random times. This is easily overcome...if you turn left at the bottom of the hotel steps just before the escalator and follow the road down it is a much more gentle walk both up and down...and you feel very virtuous when eating a gelato or tiramisu! You are then on a nice gentle and flat stroll through the old town and on to the promenade where you can take advantage of all the lovely little bars and restaurants. The villa is on a main road with passing lorries from the Docks, but again don't let this put you off. You cannot hear them from the room, the balcony or the pool area. Overall I loved this place and would highly recommend it.

I went with my husband to spend a weekend in Salerno. We chose this 4 stars hotel with the parking expecting to have what a true 4 stars hotel should look like. 1- not to mention the parking, we should park in a common parking, no private parking for the hotel. 2- one person acting one man show taking care of all the check-ins... 3- mini bar in the room is empty, only a vending machine near the elevator. 2- breakfast was outrageous: only one cornetto and one cappuccino. The excuse was we only serve an Italian breakfast. In a 4 stars hotel, the food should be on international level. If I wanted I could have chose a motel and not a 4 stars hotel. Instead of mentioning 4 stars hotel maybe you could remove 3 stars and remain in 1 star or Change the hotel to a motel maximum. NOT RECOMMENDED

This was a lovely hotel to stay in, very comfortable beds, room upgraded when we arrived for relatively cheap, great views of the Amalfi coast, and lovely breakfast options. Only downside for us as we didn't have a car is its location on the outskirts of the city, although train station is only 10-15 minute walk. There is no where close to eat within walking distance especially if its raining, outside the hotel restaurant which wasn't anything flash, nice but a little lacking in flavour, and surprising to get a seating charge there when your staying there? If you have a car this would be the perfect Hotel to stay at.

I love this B&B! It is situated in a quiet part of Solerno, but restaurants a bars are situated close by - 2 minute walk away. The host is so welcoming! He messaged us in advance of our stay, with directions and photos of the streets so that we didn’t get lost. On arrival he gave us a gift of homemade lemonchello which we really appreciated! Inside the room he has created a whole book full of things to do in Solerno, restaurants to go to and local transport timetables which we found to be incredabily helpful! The room itself was beautiful and clean! The decoration was lovely. Plenty of food was provided in the rooms and a coffee machine! Overall, I would highly recommend this B&B!

We stayed in Salerno at the Casa Castagna for 4 nights. The B&B is located in good location about 10 minute walk to the train station and the ferry to Amalfi. Teresa is the manager for the B&B and she is excellent. The rooms are spacious, very clean, a very good continental breakfast is served each morning in the central dining room. There is a lift from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor where the B&B is located. It is very quiet location but central to pedestrian shopping area, restaurants, historical sites, and transporation. We loved Teresa, she does an excellent job in taking care of you while you stay there. We would highly recommend Casa Castagna for anyone visiting Salerno.
