We are family x 5 stayed at room 106 from 27-28oct checked in at 4:30pm on a cold rainy day. Plus points: 1. Comfortable feeling when arrived at hotel. Atmosphere is warm, clean and courteous staff. 2. Shabu shabu dinner is tasty and breakfast spread is sufficient with good quality. 3. Room is clean though not too spacious. 4. Free ramen at 10:30pm to 11:00 pm is good for those who have 1st dinner setting. 5. Free coffee n tea at lobby area. However we felt there is room for improvement from hotel as well: 1. Since there is no lift, it will be nice for hotel to render assistance on bring suitcase to the level we stay. 2. It is first onsen hotel we stayed that housekeeper did not help to lay the 5 futons while we were eating 2nd setting of dinner. We have to help ourself to lay all by ourselves at almost 10 pm. 3. They fixed our dinner at 8 pm is really late especially on a cold raining day. One of us had very low blood sugar and she almost fainted. It will be nice for hotel to provide maybe some snack or a sandwich while waiting for the second seating at 8 pm. Overall it’s a good hotel with some autumn leaves surrounding it. Quite picturesque.

We stayed in a family room in Grand Annex 1 during Feb 2018. The rooms are an okay size (big enough for our family of 4) with 4 separate beds (no double bed). The toilet, sink and bathroom are all separate (toilet is in a separate small room - bathroom is split into two sections with the first bit being the sink and then a door into a wet-room style bathroom with bath and shower). This is nice but means you need to go into a separate room to wash your hands after using the toilet...On the plus side, the toilet comes with the usual space age (and heated!) toilet seat. Hot water is almost instant and the tap water is lovely and clean for drinking. The room has a decent thermostat controlled heating system which is just what you need when you come in from a day of cold out on the slopes. The wifi is free and is some of the fastest I have encountered. Very impressed. I guess this is Japan after all. The room comes with hot water pot (which dispenses boiling water by pushing a button and is easily filled up at the sink) and a selection of green and black tea (no coffee that I could see). If you want English style milk tea then the best bet is to bring your own or take some from the breakfast buffet where it is available. On the downside is the cleanliness of the rooms, although the staff clean the rooms everyday, it is just a superficial clean (change beds, towels, tidy up etc). There seems to have been no effort made to clean stains on the carpet or walls. Although it wasn't hugely dirty, I did notice the carpets were not the cleanest and there were odd stains on the walls (splashed tea perhaps?) that looked to have been around for a while. Hygiene wise though, no problems. The Tv comes with standard choice of local Japanese TV. Luckily we had the Olympics to watch when we were there but I would be bored with the usual stuff on offer. No English language channels at all. Speaking of English, I understand I am in Japan and that Appi is very much a local resort but I would expect the hotel to have more than one decent English speaker (our family speaks around 5 languages between us - sadly none of them Japanese). It took a while to make ourselves understood - it wasn't too much of a problem but was just unexpected. It may be worth your while taking a translation app on your phone. There is a locker room next to the main entrance and you get allocated one with your room (same number as the room). It is just about big enough to fit 4 pairs of skis and boots + poles, but it's a bit of a squeeze. Check-in time gets you vouchers for breakfast, the onsen (hot baths) and ski lifts. The ski pass is done on a daly basis and is valid for 8 hours from the time of voucher exchange. You can do this at the hotel reception or over at the ski lifts. The advantage of waiting until you get to the slopes is the additional times you will have when your pass is issued. If you do it at the hotel then the clock is already ticking before you get to the slopes. Not a p

My family had a great day of mountain biking with Junya. My kids are 10 & 12 so we started off with a lesson and skills check. Then we were off for a fun hill climb and forest ride before hopping on the gondola to the top of the mountain. We stopped for lunch at a cute restaurant at the top and then toured around the summit and took in the view of the surrounding area. Once we started downhill the pace was great for all ages with plenty of stops to regroup and try some tricks on different parts of the mountain. We used Clubman's Rossignol bikes, so it was like a demo ride and they had safety gear for everybody as well. Junya was a great host and guide and we cannot wait to book a ski trip with him this winter!

A very peaceful bed and breakfast. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. There is an English speaking staff member and the older couple there uses technology to translate what we couldn’t understand. Small onsen is nice with sign up times for a private experience. Breakfast was 7:30 to 9:00AM. Had some trouble with the heating unit in our room but that was a minor discomfort. Really was a home away from home and only a 7 minutes drive to the ski resorts Panorama course.

Booked through rakuten travel Japan which offered a good price. We stayed in the big suite room with three futons in tatami room, two western single beds, and a common area with sofa for five persons. Bathroom and toilet were big and separated. Dinner and breakfast were good and enough. Outdoor onsen was very nice. Accessed by car, be careful if you arrive late, it's quite far from the main street and located in a quiet and quite dark area.
