I spent 8 nights at Kariye Hotel this April 2019. When choosing the place to stay in Istanbul, prior to my departure from my home country, I was quite undecided until I came across Kariye Hotel. I have gone through the existing reviews on this hotel and I am glad that I did not give consideration to all of negative reviews but instead, chose to experience the place and draw my own conclusion. I think eight nights are enough to draw a proper conclusion about a hotel. 1. Location It is true that Edirnekapi is not surrounded by the most popular landmarks of Istanbul but we cannot blind ourselves to the fact that this part of Istanbul contains the Chora Museum, which is the neighbour of Kariye Hotel. If you stroll down the narrow streets near Kariye Hotel, you can reach Balat in less than fifteen minutes. Balat is a colourful neighbourhood, teeming with life and invaded with charming coffee shops and art galleries. The main road of Edirnekapi has countless restaurants, shops and supermarkets. I think this hotel will be appropriate for people who wish to withdraw from the hustle and bustle of their busy lives, and dive into a more peaceful place for some time. Last but not the least, the nearest metro station from Kariye Hotel is less than fifteen minutes by walk. From the Edirnekapi metro station, one can connect easily to other parts of Istanbul. 2. Room I stayed in Room 21. It was neither too big nor too small. It was just right. It had a heater, a television, a ceiling fan, a mirror, a big bed, a chair, a table, a cupboard and a bathroom and toilet. I think it has everything that is necessary. I cannot complain at all about the room. The rate per night for such a reasonable is very reasonable in this area. 3. Breakfast I chose a package where breakfast was inclusive. They do not have an open buffet and the same breakfast was served for seven consecutive days. I provided this feedback to the hotel representative. 4. Assistance I was highly helped by the hotel representatives. They are humble, good and friendly. Whenever I required information about directions to particular places and things to do in particular areas of Istanbul, they assisted me unconditionally. The hotel is not a new one. It is quite old and requires continuous renovation but further to my discussion with the hotel representative, they are well aware of this fact and they informed me that the hotel's management is always looking into making the hotel better. Last but not the least, I would highly recommend this hotel to people who are looking for both calmness and discovery.

New clean nice hotel very good service staff helpful and kind also speak good English Comfortable room with very quiet sleep so it’s good for business trip also for short vacation with there free shuttle bus to taksim or eminun make your trip more enjoyably then you can use Istanbul bus card very cheap to get bus from taksim to Ortaköy or Bebek and other places staff can help you for book taxi To any place or airport area around hotel is very old and not interesting except there is 600 meter from hotel nice mosque also there is very old church steps from hotel and very old walls show the long history of Istanbul the unique city in the world . Breakfast good but not super lobby small but for me it’s not important the price you pay less than half if you you book same level in the top tourist area in taksim or Beşiktaş or şeşli so it’s a matter of your budget and the purpose of your trip

We've been a couple of days in the beautiful Istanbul. I am not going to describe the city, tons of literature can be found on the internet. In the city everybody was wearing the respiratory mask, disinfectant available almost everywhere showing that the people takes seriously the pandemic situation. The same, the hotel was very clean, plenty of COVID control measures in place, everywhere, at the entrance, lobby, in the room and in the restaurant even stronger. Also, here you'll find a guarded underground parking place, free of charge. Location-the hotel is placed 4 km away from the Blue Mosque with easy access to metro or bus station and at a walk distance you will have restaurants and mall. For 4 euro you can go by taxi to downtown. Very supportive and kind personnel, ready to help, thank you! For sure next time I will stay here!

The features of this hotel don't fall nicely into the categories below, so I was "not sure" about many answers. What I know for sure is that I loved this hotel (stayed two different times, total of 5 nights, over the month of April) and would definitely come again! The owner and staff (those who speak good English) were very friendly and informative. They shared about the "renaissance" of the Balat neighborhood and made us feel happy to be part of it. When we reported back our new discoveries in the neighborhood such as restaurants and the historic hammam, the owner was very interested to hear our comments so that she could recommend those attractions to other visitors with similar interests. We made our reservations via email (or online) and everything worked well. I don't understand the previous negative review and can only report on our exceptional experience. On our first day in Istanbul we learned that several convenient bus lines pass right in front of the Troya, so we were able to get "everywhere" for the equivalent of $0.40. The hotel has been lovingly and meticulously restored to its old world charm. I was a tad worried about the narrow spiral staircase, but the staff insisted on carrying our luggage up and down, so there was no problem. The restaurant was hopping every night with many groups of locals - that's a good sign! I could not have been happier and will return to Troya Hotel Balat asap!

Super budget hotel located in Cibali and steps away from Gül Camii / previously Byzantium's Hagia Theodisia church, which exceeds my expectation. This hotel is more like family's apartment that welcomes me at their home and yet I could have my privacy. I got a room to accommodate 4 guests hence big room. Clean, good wifi, the location is very strategic to explore Balat - Fener - Ayvansaray area. In the room, there is tea coffee making facilities and drinking water is provided too. Worth to mention that the location is not touristic and I could see real Istanbul life, busy during the day with the daily activity and quiet at night. Some lokal cafe and restaurant are around. As my visit and stay in Lotus Hotel Istanbul was also to explore Byzantium's heritage, although I had to walk a lot, this hotel is really good spot on base.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul. The hotel is in a great location with buses and metro station close by. There are restaurants and mini-markets around the hotel making it very convenient for a long stay in the city. The staff are very caring and make you feel welcomed! They answer any questions you have about where to go and how to get there. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, they have a wide range of breakfast foods. Leo (staff member) welcomed us with a big smile every morning which made our stay more special! Overall, I would stay in this hotel if I visited Istanbul again because of the location, service and great room price!

I stayed at this hotel very recently on a solo city break. It is located in a quiet, non-touristy area, but with good connections to all kinds of transportation. There are plenty places to eat, cafes and market stores in the neighborhood. There are also 2 important tourist attractions nearby: the old Byzantine Walls and a mosque by the great architect Sinan. The rooms are small, but clean and the breakfast served is very good. They have a kind, helpful and attentive staff, for whom no effort is too big. They even surprised me with a present on my birthday. Definitely great value for money!

This hotel was one of the best hotel I have ever had stayed. The staff was very helpfull. The breakfast was very sufficient to every taste. The kitchen has the variety of foods. The rooms are very nice and clean. It is sort of family- run bussiness. they make you feel at home. Every one is very sincere and kind. The location is good. You can reach very easily to the grand bazaar and the historic island where most of the museums locate, It is very suitable for the bussiness trip as well as the touristic visits. Thanks to Melisa (manager), she made all our wishes true.

I had to research a lot of hotels in Taksim Area to settle for the central palace. Mainly because it's located in a quiet street in Taksim (VERY important point), so sleeping was relatively sound and good. The furniture and air conditioning is a bit outdated but it serves its purpose. The breakfast was variable, tasty and clean (At least they serve fresh orange juice). The receptionists and cleaners were always available to help us. Hotel was clean, but the prices are a little bit high compared to other hotels in the area. Its location is perfect as it is a 5-minute walk away from metro/funicular station and ISTIKLAL Street. Anything you need is nearby in stores (mobile SIM card, drinks, snacks, fruits, travel luggage bags). Planning to stay there in two months.

The hotel is very close to the pedestrian street, the rooms are more ordinary, the furnishings are average, but the fame is relatively large, the facilities and equipment are relatively old, the bathtub is placed in the shower room, it looks very cramped, the water is severely blocked, if you pull the water valve in the gutter Unpleasant smells will come out, so bathing is a problem, and the problem of sink water is also very big. This has been the case in three different rooms in this hotel. When I checked in, I clearly stated that I had two breakfasts. The sluggish front desk had to check again and again. After 20 minutes, I finally checked it, but the breakfast restaurant did say that there was no breakfast included. This is not considered the savvy of the Turks. If I could re-select the hotel, I would look for those facilities that are relatively new and too painful.

We get a budget room, 50% off the regular price on the 5th floor. Still, the price is the highest so far, we pay 180 TL. The room is nice and clean, however, hasn’t seen a renovating team for a long time. The linen and towels are clean but the bathroom is quite old. The bed is big and comfortable. There is a tea set here. Breakfast is quite ok but nothing special. It is served as a buffet on top roof floor. The hotel is situated in Sultanahmet, the very heart of Istambul, close to all the attractions. The receptionist thinks she knows English but it’s only her impression. She gives us some wrong information and we go to the old airport where are no flights anymore. As a result, we waste time and money finally to arrive to the right airport.

The Tuapra Hotel is simply a business trip in the morning. It is necessary to participate in the exhibition. It is located in hall 13. There is no need to go out the gate to participate in the exhibition. The aisle is direct and there is no security check. Great!
