0.46km from Christ Church Picture GalleryWe stayed at the buttery in Oxford for 2 nights in the family room 301 as a couple on 27th of October. This was the last room available and was the same price as a double room our friends stayed in so we decided to go for it so we could all stay in the same hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice and modern with a good shower. However, the negatives over took the positives unfortunately. I’m not one to moan and write negative reviews but I think people need to be warned before booking. There was a lamp post and the light was directly outside the rooms window. Even when curtains were pulled, it still seemed like it was daytime in the room which mean’t we couldn’t sleep. The lamp post did not turn off for the whole night. There was a group of 20 people directly outside our room making noise until 2 in the morning in the ‘rest area’. They were singing, cheering, drinking and playing music. I went down to reception to complain At 1:30am and to be fair to the receptionist, he did go and ask them to be quiet. However, I expected Then to be moved on considering the rule of 6 and because they were being ridiculously loud and disrespect. I was tempted to contact the police instead. The windows in the room are not safe for children. They opened upwards with no safety net. A child could easily fall out of the window from 3 floors up if accidentally lent on, especially if the curtains were pulled. Luckily we were a couple and didn’t have any children with us. I complained to reception about all of these issues and they couldn’t really help. I expected some sort of refund to be offered or a room change but none of this happened. The nights sleep was terrible and with the 10pm curfew of pubs and restaurants, we were in our room by 10:30 listening to large groups of people shouting, screaming, laughing and singing until 2 in the morning. Not ideal for a family room.
