Fino Hotel and Suites is one of the best located hotels in the city, right in the middle within walking distance of new shopping areas, the city centre, trams etc We chose this hotel due to the proximity to the starting line of the Christchurch marathons and it did not disappoint in that regard, literally 30 seconds out the door and we were at the starting line. If you are in town for that reason I highly recommend this location. The rooms themselves are quite comfortable, coming off an impressive atrium with views right down the middle. The furniture was all in good condition and laid out well. All the amenities you would expect. There were only two downsides to our stay. The first is the noise, there are only single glazed windows so the city noise travels in the windows like they aren't even there. The second was the incredibly dated bathroom. The shower had next to no water pressure which was a huge disappointment after running a marathon, sometimes you just need a good shower. I definitely recommend this location to families and people who want to stay in the heart of the city within walking distance of all that has to offer.

Arrived in town very early and Rory let us leave the car for the day while we walked the town and Botanical Garden. Chatty check in with same later with great recs for dinner and evening activities. Room quiet as a tomb, immaculately clean, pristine beautifully tiled bath with curtained floor shower soft towels and nice toiletries. Universal outlet for charging our shaver, rare in NZ. TV with plenty of international channels. Kitchenette with French press coffee maker, milk in the fridge, microwave, all you’ll need. Comfortable queen bed with top grade linens. 15 minute walk to everything. Ate across the street at Bog, the Irish pub and very pleased. Gated security after 9:30 pm with fob access. All at a very reasonable price.

We have used this accomodation before and decided that this would be aa good place to stay again after we were forced to stay in town for a night. we checked in the motel and got a one bedroom unit for the price of a studio. the unit was clean, spacy and had a mezanine bedroom. the room was temepature controlled and was really cool while the temperature outside hit a blistering 35 degree. Although we were supposed to have sky, the weather had a different plan with the reception of the signal. In my opinion not something you can blame on the business owner. The hosts are a nice couple and are willing to go the extra mile if you just show them the respect they deserve. Thank you for the service. we wish you well.

Stayed in this hotel before flying out Christchurch to Sydney. Modern light and sunny hotel. Staff – Sam and Kim were beyond good! So, so helpful. Kim juggled rooms around to give us a room on high floor. Sam was very knowledgeable on Christchurch and told us all the places within walking distance. Riverside markets had fantastic eateries. Kaiser brew garden was awesome. Bed was pretty comfortable, lovely light room with cooking facilities if you wanted them, and a first – there was a hair straightener as well as a hairdryer in the room! Shower bomb was lovely – water pressure wasn’t great but not bad. Breakfast – the soaked oats were surprisingly delicious and a nice setting. All in all would give this hotel a definite 5 out of 5 – the staff on the front desk absolutely make it memorable – thanks :-).

We stayed for 3 nights with our 5 year old and almost 3 year old in a 2 bedroom apartment on level 5 and it was perfect. Very clean, comfortable, spacious and nice views from the balcony. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bathroom was well stocked with toiletries. The little milk in the fridge when we arrived was a nice touch. The washing machine worked well and the drying rack meant that I didn't have to use the dryer. We arrived late (after 10pm) but that wasn't a problem. We'd been e-mailed details of what to do beforehand and our check-in information was where we were told it would be. Parking in the secure carpark and getting up to our room wasn't a problem. It's just down the road from the hop-on hop-off tourist tram, so that was very convenient on our first day. It's also a short walk into town. The nearest supermarket was the excellent "FreshChoice City Market" at The Crossings on Lichfield Street. That was quite close to one of the stops on the tram - so we simply picked up our groceries and caught the tram back to the apartment at the end of our first day. (you could also walk it - it's about 1km)

This B&B is easy to get to by car. We flew into Christchurch and hired a rental car. Bonus is free parking on site so park and walk as the central city area is only about 0.5km away. The unit we had was spacious, clean and tidy and well appointed. If we were staying more than one night it would of been ideal to cook a light meal. As we were travelling we had toast and coffee for breakfast but they also do a cooked breakfast. The bed was really comfortable. On arrival we were given a map of the city and all the tourist sights we wanted to see were marked on it for us and explained.

I lived in Auckland a long time ago, but South Island landed for the first time this time. Speaking of Christchurch, there is only B & B! And the hotel and apartment are ignored and decided here. It was a really nice building as we looked at. All the interiors and the courtyard are cute. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Excited with a 4-year-old daughter and mother! The breakfast was delicious too. The bathroom is also elaborately decorated, but one difficulty. It was a bit of a unique floor plan, and the shower water flowed to the cupboards and toilets. The drainage of the drain is not bad, but it is probably due to the floor plan. Later, I'm full of family, so everyone is always busy and I don't want to catch anything. When I first arrived, nobody came out even if I pushed the bell, and when I was in trouble, a customer who went out happened to open the door and put it inside (lol) It was exactly the same when other guests came, just the entrance We stayed in the room next to us and opened the door (laughs) The owner family feels good, but it seems to be busy all day. I thought this price was a bit expensive for B & B per night, but I was satisfied. Finally, the security aspect is subtle. Christchurch is safe and should be fine, but if you are worried about it, we recommend a hotel.

Your phones in the rooms don't work. They don't have panels with info on them, no way to ring front desk, restaurant, etc. Therefore, late arrivals that want food are stuck. Wifi in the room I stayed in didn't work, I think simply because I was in the far-away unit and the Wifi didn't reach that far. When I went to restaurant for a sit-down meal instead, I had to wait 41 minutes for food to arrive and then they forgot the side. Restaurant manager was apologetic, but that's not good if you're time pressured

1. This is a B&B hotel. Unlike the general hotel, the owner of the store, the two partners, take care of the hotel in person, and make the guests feel like they are at home. Especially the breakfast is sitting around a rectangular table, the owner is baking bread for everyone, tea or coffee. Although everyone did not know each other, they soon became familiar with it, chatting and chatting, chatting about the places they visited and sharing experiences. The atmosphere is very good and I like it very much. 2. There is a Malay Chinese in the host, very young, very enthusiastic and talkative. Chinese tourists will be more convenient. 3. The hotel is in a good location, about 15 minutes walking distance to the city center. It is convenient to visit the main attractions in the city. 4. The fly in the ointment is that because it is an old house, the room layout is limited, the room is relatively small, and may not be used to Chinese tourists who are used to big houses. In addition, Chinese tourists who are not good at English may not be able to adapt to this environment.

We stayed 5 days over Christmas 2019 in a two room suite and enjoyed ourselves. The hosts were friendly and were always picking things up, keeping the whole place immaculate. There is a laundry which I took advantage of. Quite a few families there and their children played with scooters and ride-on toys in the central parking area. Plenty of parking too. The whole place was surprisingly quiet and I think the hosts kept an eye on anything which might become noisy.

Beautiful and quiet courtyard, complete kitchen facilities, and convenient living around. Especially the Korean bosses are warm and kind and responsible for their work. One day, my husband answered the phone in the yard, accidentally put his bag on the stool in the yard and left. Our passports, ID cards and other important things were all inside. Twenty minutes later, we found out that the bag was gone, and we were in a hurry. When the domestic epidemic was tense and international flights were cancelled again, we would be unable to move without a passport. We told the Korean boss about this, he asked about the situation, let us not worry. Ten minutes later, he delivered the bag to our room. There were a lot of passports and cash in the bag. We are very fortunate to book this hotel, and met this honest and kind Korean owner, who is away from home, this hotel is trustworthy. Call the owner!

We took a gamble with this motel as the rate was really low and reviews weren't exactly wonderful. However, the gamble paid off as we were pleasantly surprised just how good it was. It's an older-style motel, but location is handy to the city and other suburbs, while the room itself was spacious, well-equipped and really comfortable. It would be ideal for someone willing to stay longer than a night or two, as the room had a full stove and microwave, with kitchenware to match. It even had a separate toilet - unusual these days. The only negative was that all the walls could have been lots cleaner, as could the motel office itself, both minor details and easy to remedy. Yes, we'll be back.

Excellent stay, after a mishap the owners and staff were more than accommodating us with changes due to my error and missing the ferry the previous day. The unit was spacious and spotless and everything needed. Loved the Netflix and recliners after a busy day sightseeing and travelling. Rebecca was ever so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The unit had parking right outside and even a little area for a quiet relax time outside. Breakfast was available if needed and I was even given some extra milk when asked at check in as I’m a huge coffee drinker. Only downside is we only got to stay the one night instead of two as previously mentioned due to missing the ferry and getting my dates mixed up. Thanks and will definitely be back if visiting Christchurch again in the future.

We stayed here for a few nights. Check in was easy and the host was friendly and very helpful. We stayed in the spa unit. This had a separate bedroom (with tv) and a spacious lounge and dining area. Sky tv in the lounge was a plus. There was a microwave for cooking and a toaster in the kitchen area. The motel is at the Papanui Road end of Bealey Ave so is close to the ****** and plenty of eating venues. If you come from the airport, you have to loop around the block to Columbo Street as there is no u turn allowed at Durham Street.

I arrived late this afternoon (5.40pm) at the jailhouse only to see a sign saying no checking in between 1pm and 6pm. I found that rather strange but asked a couple of people sat on the chairs near by what the deal was. They said there would be someone there to check them in at 6pm. I had just traveled from Wanaka (5/6 hours) with my two year old and he was tired and we wanted to get our stuff in our room and get settled after a long drive. I joked to the male and female and said "they've got it easy with a 5 hour break" when I returned at about 7pm after dinner it turns out the female who I was speaking to previously was the one that could have checked us in. I found this rather strange and feel she should have checked us in. She said "I don't get paid for this" or words to that effect. She obviously works for accommodation but she's representing this backpackers and I found her lack of care to be bad. I then asked if the room was available for two nights instead of one and she said $88, paid $66 online to which she seemed a little funny about. Overall the check in experience wasn't welcoming at all and she was awkward to say the least. It's a quirky place with it being an old jail and it's also clean but she needs to work on her hospo and ppl skills.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a caravan. Staff had left a diagram mud map which isn’t 100% right, for us as we arrived after 5.30pm. We later found we’d been put in a storage site and receptionist apologised and offered to place us in another place but due to having to move we stayed put. The facilities were very clean but the noise from Johnson Rd the motorway and a road behind and the planes made it very noisey. The old part was quite tidy but no uniform approach to the grounds, no car park signs etc and when one is towing a tandem caravan that makes it a bit hot under the collar. This was once a lovely caravan park in the past. Having permanent people their in some very shabby caravans didn’t add to the appeal. But at night it was quiet and it was clean and they offer plenty of types of accommodation option’s if you can find them. Friendly staff.

We booked for one night between Christmas and New Years Eve for a family staycation. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is in a great location with easy walking to restaurants, bars, shops and nearby New Regent Street. The hotel and its rooms are beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches and utter charm. Having requested a roll out bed for our 7 year old, it was such a sweet surprise to discover it made up with whimsical children’s bedding complete with fluffy blanket and soft toys. Reasonably priced, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique stay in the heart of Christchurch’s CBD.

Excellent location and safe parking. Very very helpful manager - William. He was amazing! Its my home away from home. If there's one thing about William is honesty. We returned to Auckland and didn't even know that my eldest daughter Beat Headphone were missing, worth $430. It was rose-gold with white trimmings. William called two weeks later to inform us that he had found it, and had been trying to contact me. That's honesty and integrity at its best.

I really wish I’d done better research and not just relied on the third-party booking app. We booked a family “suite” for 1 night - which unexpectedly turned into 2 due to weather issues - for a family of 4. Immediately upon checking in we saw a few colourful characters in the parking lot but dismissed our unease as a one-off. Our room was on the 2nd level, rundown with incomplete repairs/renos, a bathroom sink with TWO faucets (so you had to alternatively splash your face with scalding hot and ice-cold water when washing up), and ZERO insulation from noise. We were awakened multiple times thru the night by loud, inebriated guests returning to their rooms well after 2am, and police sirens which woke and frightened our youngest. Is it affordable? Sure. But not in a “wow, I scored a great deal!” kind of way - more like, you get exactly what you pay for. Even less, one could argue. I’m not a fan of writing negative reviews but I want to warn away other families from making the same mistake we did.

I had a couple of single night stays here on my recent trip. It is very convenient for exploring the Christchurch CBD. Receptionists were very helpful and friendly although it took me a while to understand that she was saying I could buy a "voucher" for breakfast at the cafe next door and not "water". Room had all the facilities required and there are both a small convenience store and a liquor store in the junction area for any extras needed. Took a while to get used to the noise of trams going through but these stop running early enough to get a good night's sleep. Suspect the junction area may be a bit noisier in non-Covid times.

Very friendly reception staff - I was leaving very early the next morning and that was no bother. Close to and easy access to Christchurch airport. Supermarket and restaurants just down the road made for a nice walk after a day's driving. Room was very comfortable - good sound proofing, did not hear the main road at all. Nice modern bathroom. I didn't use the kitchenette, or the heat pump (but appreciated that there was a heat pump if needed). Great value for money.

Aside from its location - a few minutes walk directly south of the main entertainment precinct, with its external signage clearly visible from the now-fabled Pink Lady rooftop bar (a must on the verge of dusk on a clear night) - Quest on M has a feeling of freshness and spaciousness, not to mention peace and quiet. Though following the familiar format of the Quest chain, the first-floor studio that I was given was easily the best hotel room that I've experienced in a long while (and excellent value for money). Staff here are the kind of folks that you always hope to find in a hotel: friendly, and professional, completely down-to-earth. I found Quest a perfect base in my ongoing, unfortunately sporadic, engagement with a favorite city - and my quest to understand and appreciate more of Christchurch's remarkable re-emergence. I hope to come back again and again.

We frequently stay in motels when we travel around the country and this motel is generous with its complimentary tray offering quality coffee, (Moccona), Dilmah tea, milo, drinking chocolate, raw and white sugar, dinner mints, 2x packets of biscuits. All of which are replaced daily!! As are the Koha Spa bathroom condiments. The housekeeping is spotless. The laundry facilities are clean and close to the clothesline and pegs. Spacious parking. We had initially booked to stay but due to Covid-19 had to cancel. We emailed the manager to explain what was happening and that we would be down as soon as able - the manager was great - she accommodated us quickly and transferred our booking to suit our travel dates. That made the trip hassle free knowing all was ok. The hotel is located about 4km from the CBD but if you're up for a walk then going through Hagley park is a must, otherwise Uber were plentiful an no difficulty finding the hotel. The hotel is exactly how you see as advertised, our room was generous - it had a small balcony with seating; all coffee/tea facilities, clean and tidy bathroom and relatively quiet considering it was on a main road.
