Location is excellent, walking distance to every touristic spot. Also walking distance from Eurostar. The room was basic but as we expected. Staff was nice and room was clean. However when we arrive the room was smelling like someone was smoking inside before. We opened the windows and the smell gone when we were back, but it was not nice. Quite noisy, we could heard all the doors closing/opening.

Mercure hotels are usually reliable, but ths one is a gem! It is in the old town, two minutes walk from Rue de Gand, where there is a huge choice of restaurants. My room, though not large, was perfect in every respect: comfortable bed, clean and bright. Two great features were the kettle and the fridge. The latter especially in summer time. Great breakfast buffet. Nice outside terrace (the the astro-turf is a bit naff!) . Maybe the very best thing about the hotel are the staff. Helpful, friendly and cheerful. Why would I go anywhere else when staying in Lille?

Loved this place. Lots of laid back character and charm. - Relaxed, fun, upbeat & very non corporate vibes - Great hotel bar and restaurant, a genuine destination bar - Room size was ok for weekend stay (Mama Large room) - Upbeat, relaxed staff, very authentic and helpful - Bathroom was ok, no free toiletries in the spirit of going eco. - Shower was open wet room, personally would have preferred walk in glass style - Really fresh and delicious breakfast selection, super tasty! Overall, the whole weekend felt like staying in a cool members club rather than a hotel.

We arrived late after a flight delay and having booked a Privilege double room were disappointed to find on our 5am arrival that the room we were given was tiny and not what we had booked. We were too exhausted to go back to reception at that hour so we slept and voiced our unhappiness in the morning before breakfast, but were met with an unfriendly and reluctant staff member. Her attitude left a lot to be desired and we are not used to this type of treatment so were a bit taken aback. Eventually we got the room we desired and got a refund for the first night so we cant complain too much but the reception we got in the hotel was just not acceptable in these times and in a hotel which is charging more than 140 euro a room per night. The hotel itself was clean and well managed and very convenient to the tram.

Having stayed at Mercure for a long period (23nights) I would recommend it as a great option for those travellers looking to explore the bubbly city of Lille and its surroundings. The room met the 4 stars rating, with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. The cleanliness standard was very good, which I found especially important due to current Covid 19 circumstances. Indeed, the hotel was rigorous in its Covid policies which made me feel safe and comfortable. The room I stayed on, on the 3rd floor, also had plenty of natural light and a good A/C ventilation. As a matter of personal taste, I was not particularly impressed with the bedside wallpaper but the room itself and it's amenities make it exceptional value for money. With regards to F&B, the breakfast was good, with plenty of options available and decent coffee, and the eating area is pleasant and well lit. The main downside of my stay were the lunches and dinners, which were basically a number of set pre-prepared dishes available in a fridge that could be heated in the microwave. Context is always key to any evaluation and I was explained that the current Covid restrictions made the hotel create this system, so hopefully in the future the F&B will evolve to a different level. Where there is certainly room for improvement in this area, in the short term, is the lack of vegetarian / vegan options available to guests. Finally, some words to describe the true strength of this hotel: its staff. The friendliness and professionalism of everyone that I came across during my long stay was impressive and typical of a 5 star hotel. In resume, while the hotel has certainly points for improvement, its staff transform Mercure into a fantastic option for those travelers wanting to feel at home. While everyone was warm and available, I have to highlight some 'superstars': Sofian (F&B), Marion (Reception), Juliana and Natalie (Housekeeping). Hopefully the management will look after them and keep them for long. As Sir Richard Branson once said: ”take care of your staff and they will take care of your guests”...

We recently spend 2 nights in the hotel. Some things we are used to enjoy in other hotels and make us return that did not happen. Some examples : We had a lot of trouble finding the carpark. The info on the website is confusing. While the receptionist told me which car park they recommend. But then it was too late. During check in I asked if we could have dinner in the hotel. The receptionist told me to go and look for myself. Dinner was low on quality. But I must admit it is rather cheap and for that price they can not offer something else. We would have paid more. The waiter was really great however. The room was tidy and had a great view on the city. Breakfast was to that degree awful we even not took it the 2nd day even if we already had paid for it : § Sausages were dry and overcooked. Seemed warmed up the day(s) before. § Egg was watery, not eatable. § Bread offer etc. is limited § The waitress was not service minded and on the limit of being arrogant towards guests While waiting for check out I heard the receptionist ask the couple if they needed a bill. She did not ask me, moreover I myself I had to insist to have one. My feeling was certainly not being a guest. We love Crowne Plaza hotels but will not return to this hotel Feed-back already shared with the hotel without any reaction

Stayed at the Moxy for 4 nights, with a friend. We were both impressed with the room, and cleanliness. The beds were very comfy, and made up each day. The shower and fittings were of a high standard, overall ideal for our needs. The layout of the grounds and the front were impressive, nicely set from road, with lots of outside seating for day or evening drinks. The staff were extremely friendly and help. Very close to the city centre, and metro station. The only issue we found was the combination of checking in, which was stationed alongside the bar and dining area. This made it challenging for the staff with competing jobs, who tried their best to manage the busy stations. Maybe rethink the check-in area, as this requires separate attention and would makes more sense for the customers 🤔

French hotel rooms can be tiny and basic, and this was both, but once you know that that is the case, this hotel has a lot going for it. The staff were really accommodating - they let me store my luggage in the store before my room was ready, offered me a pick between a quiet shady room and a room with a view and advised me on keeping it cool even in the heatwave and without aircon. They even rang me afterwards to tell me I'd left a book behind. Only thing was, it wasn't my book. I hope they managed to locate the guest in question. The view of the church from the street side is really great too.

The hotel is very new. But it doesn't feel like a five-star hotel, it's more like a high-end business fast. Lille has fewer star-rated hotels, and Baliari is a good choice. The location is very good, 3 minutes from the railway station, and there are large commercial plazas nearby. There is also a park opposite the hotel where you can jog in the morning. Not many choices for breakfast. Overall, it is satisfactory

The place was quite low-key, a few steps from Gare Lille Flandres (which was the reason I picked it in first place). The hotel is not the newest one, and the interiors are tired. The staff spoke English, I was checked in no problem and was given advice around town. What surprised me is that the room was much less tired than corridors. The worst part was the tiny shower, which was fit so snugly into the bathroom that I think if I were a few kilos heavier, I might not have made it. The bedroom was actually comfortable and I had a very nice sleep. The soundproof was not the best though. The breakfast was included into the price and it was alright (well, ibis Budget in Krakow fared better in this aspect, but the Premiere Classe Lille Centre's breakfast it was ok to survive till lunchtime). I do not recommend this place for the people with mobility issues.

The location is brilliant. A couple of minutes to the centre of Lille. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable and very small, but of course this is subjective so others may not agree. The cleanliness of the hotel is debatable. There is a strange smell throughout the hotel of toilets - most noticeable on the ground floor where reception is. The rooms are very basic and fine for a couple of nights but no longer. 10 minute walk to the Eurostar. Despite being in a busy location it was quiet at night. Could do with a kettle and tea/coffee in the room as you need it after sleeping in such an uncomfortable bed! Overall fine for 2 nights - you get what you pay for. I wouldn't come back though.

The hotel feels more like a cross between a hotel and a hostel, and has many good points but also some reservations. It’s modern and clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The reception and communal area has a kitchen available for use, plus reception can sell you hot drinks and very limited food. The decor is fresh and “urban”, overall a nice change from most hotels. The rooms are all accessed via external stairs and walkways, plus there is ample free parking for the hotel. Recycling and other environmental actions are encouraged. The rooms are very basic and very small. The en-suite bathrooms are the width of a standard shower, so very little room in front of the sink. Fine for an overnight stay, but not great if you are planning to stay longer. Extra towels, use of TV, and several other features that are generally inclusive, are charged extra in this hotel. The location is good if you need to park a car, but not great for the city centre. There is no nearby public transport, but taxi rides (Uber in our case) are around €10. So a great concept, but if you are planning on spending most of your time in Lille then it may be worth spending extra and staying in the city centre.

Originally thought that the so-called kitchen only microwave oven, I did not expect the pots and pans are very complete, even the dishwasher has it. The room is also very spacious. Next door is the eurollille shopping plaza, and the first floor is Carrefour. If you bring your family together, it is not more suitable. Lille is small and it takes a few minutes to walk to the old town. The crown holiday that moved to the company the next day was more than 1,000, and it was really not much worse. Breakfast Citadines is the kind of self-help type of Youth Hostel, 11 Euro is not recommended.

I booked a room for two days with credit card. I was informed that this is a non refundable deal - it was ok with me. My risk. Arriving the hotel, the lady on the reception was the same from the phone...she was friendly. Entering the floor you got a feeling as in a thriller movie...lights were flickering, dirty carpet and walls and a really cheap smell in the air. Entering the room - same influence...The floor in the bathroom was an undulating ground, everything was pretty old and cheap smell all around the room. I decide to change the hotel, but not to cancel - I paid already - so, my choice to change the hotel...I could even sleep in front of the hotel on the street...I paid the room it can be just used by myself. I decided to use the parking place, because it is difficult to find a parking place in Lille and anyway, I paid already the bill. All this information I gave an another lady on the reception. After two days I gave back the remote control for the garage gate. I was wondering why my number key was not valid. Someone let me in the hotel...I went up to my room...number key was also not valid. A room maid opened the door and for my surprise the bed was used. A man came out of the bathroom, a little bit wondering about why I was in my/his room. I went down to the reception and asked them why they rent the room twice - it is forbidden to do that. They didn't agree with me, specially the manager Aurelien do not agree. I left the hotel and took the remote control with me. Till today I didn't get back my money. They took 70€ for the remote control from my credit card...congratulations, now you have finally a new, not any longer broken remote control. To all the people out there...there are nice hotels in Lille, but never, never go to this hotel...all around the hotel are drunken and drugged people, sex shops etc...and with a hotel manager that is renting rooms twice even if you have paid it!

Old merchant's house in centre of Lille. We have stayed at many Relais &Chateaux hotels over the years. How this one came to be accepted by the organisation is difficult to fathom. It has the potential for a fine hotel in a grand building but the interior has been totally ruined by trying to make it so modern and trendy and in my view completely failing. The reception was courteous but certainly not effusive. However the room was an interior design nightmare. Shining stainless steel four poster bed, furniture of a similar ilk and the Chagall engraving on the wall was totally out of place in such a room. Beautiful marble fireplace surround but interior blocked with plain board and no other decoration, what a wasted opportunity. No flannels in the bathroom and a sink plug that did not work. Had to wash and shave with running water. Not a good idea in these drought ridden times. Tea and coffee machines but no cups! The room was clean and tidy. Dinner in the Michelin starred restaurant which serves only a set menu, a dreadful modern trend. I wish to eat what I choose to eat not what the chef decrees I shall eat. There were an abondance of pretentious canapes which were all somewhat confused in taste. The St Pierre fish chosen by my wife and the pigeon which I had were cooked to a very high quality but being part of a set menu were minute. We finished by eating biscuits in our room. At breakfast there was no orange juice, Oranges are not in season we were told!

My room was an attick room, no heating apart from an air-conditioning machine which not always functioned as expected... The room door which did not close properly allowed some air to go and come, i.e. some extra cold air and noise... When I asked to change room, the girl at the reception was so surprised, she claimed this be the best room they had - and it was: I was allowed to see some two other rooms, one of which was so stinky... the other one was quite decent, but with a dysfunctional shower head. So, yes. The room I was initially put might be the best...?!

The location is perfect for access by car with its secure car park, far enough out of town to be easy to drive to but stil within easy walking distance of the main square. There are also loads of bars, restaurants and supermarkets nearby - don't miss the huge outdoor market on a Sunday morning at Wazemmes, just 10 mins away on foot. The bed was comfortable and the room was spotless. It would have been nice to have a kettle and the wifi was a bit hit and miss but the pros far outweighed the cons here and I'd not hesitate to recommend this Aparthotel or to visit again

She did not ask me, moreover I myself I had to insist to have one. My feeling was certainly not being a guest. We love Crowne Plaza hotels but will not return to this hotel Feed-back already shared with the hotel without any reaction

I stayed at this hotel very early, but at that time it seemed to be in the center of the railway station. In fact, it is very convenient to go to the Grand Plaza. The front desk is very enthusiastic. Tell us that we can use the subway to go to the three stations. With free parking, just call them and it's very convenient to get on the high speed!

We spent our holiday in the junior suite. We were lucky to be there in lovely weather so we could enjoy the luxury of the spacious terrace. The room was large too, and well equipped. All the amenities were present except ironing facilities. The minibar was replenished daily and all the contents of it were really free. The only disappointing discomfort was that the minibar was definitely not cool enough. Especially as we were there during a heat wave. The room temperature was OK thanks to the powerful but silent airco. Street noise did not enter the room, nor sounds from the adjacent room. We had comfortable nights in Why hotel. The bedding was excellent. So was the cleaning. We appreciated the offer of greening up, which meant that we kept our towels during our stay in order to improve ecological footprint. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was varied and ample. The location of the hotel was close to the Place Rihour and the beautiful Grand Place of Lille. Public transport was nearby, cheap and efficient. We had rented a parking place of the hotel in a secured parking garage close to the hotel, but we did most of our trips by metro for instance to Roubaix and Tourcoing. We had one of our best holiday experiences in Why hotel. Whole heartedly recommended!

Great location in centre of Lille. Room newly renovated and spotlessly clean. Was very quiet with no noise from street or corridor. Second bed in room was a sofa bed but still very comfortable. Bar was really good for a late night drink before bed. Large public car park a couple of minutes away (parking - Nouveau Siècle). The only downside was breakfast. In hindsight we should have taken them up on the offer of room service breakfast. The buffet was run down well before end of service - e.g on Saturday bacon was gone by 9.50 and not restocked despite breakfast ending 10.30 and staff periodically looking at the empty dishes. Sunday we went earlier but was still a bit hit and miss. The various warnings placed around the hotel (including on the beds) advising you to go to breakfast super early were not conducive to a relaxed weekend away. Not critical - but takes the shine off an otherwise good hotel. In a 4* hotel I hope to have breakfast when I choose not when the hotel wants me to! Would happily stay in the hotel again but probably skip the breakfast.

It's very good. It's worth recommending. It's very good. My friends like it very much. Next time, I'll take my family to check in. Breakfast is rich, transportation is convenient, and the couple's attitude is also very good.

We booked this hotel months ago. My booking (of five nights) clearly stated that we were two groups of two people and that we'd like refurbished rooms. We were given two rooms that looked as though they'd been dragged kicking and screaming straight from the 50's. My parents were given a room where the person sleeping on the left hand side of the bed had to scramble over the person sleeping on the right to get in and out. It was a room for one person NOT two. (room 31) The room my partner and I were given was a little bigger (room 36) however two of us were only allowed three pillows between us. Not once during our stay was the bedding changed. We had two tiny sachets of shampoo for the entire length of our stay (I have long hair and the two sachets didnt wash half of it!) Toilet roll also seemed to be in short supply, with half a roll to last us 5 days, we ended up buying some. Both rooms overlooked a net covered in things clearly fallen from hotel rooms and three large air conditioning units, that ran 24/7. The bathrooms were incredibly small. I am 5'3” tall and my knees were pressed against the door when I was sat on the loo, my 6' tall partner ended up having to poo with the sliding door open! (nobody needs to see that.) There was not space within the bathroo to dry yourself after having a shower. Bear in mind I asked for REFURBISHED rooms. On our last day as we were leaving, we saw the actual rooms I requested, which were twice the size of ours, tastefully decorted and with wonderful views. WiFi didnt work The advertised parking was 1/4 mile away up 12 ramps to get to the floor. Anything bigger than a small SUV is NOT going to fit in the space, or up the ramps. It was only sheer luck we didnt bring our other vehicle. I am considering a claim to recoup some of the money we paid as the hotel clearly mis-sells its rooms, thankfully I paid with my credit card so I can do this. The hotel is well placed in the centre of Lille however.
