Me and my gf needed a place to stay the night in Bremen right before Christmas, had a plane departing from there in the morning. After 2 air-bnb hosts declined us (...) we almost gave in to an expensive €90+ accommodation, which we didn't really fancy given our interest in enjoying the city center at night and the early wake-up we were set to have. Then we saw it: 19 euro per person. It was a cheap hostel mixed-dorm, so our expectations were at a minimum. Once we arrived we were delightfully surprised: comfy lounge with a pool table (which, although cramped by walls, did provide us with good fun for a hour or so), a cozy reception and clean dorm and bathrooms. The receptionist was a sweetheart, he went out of his way just to get us toothpaste, since we forgot it. The location is not central, but it's nice-looking and well connected and right next to (5 min walking) a charming park. If you need a foothold in Bremen and don't want to spend much, this is probably one of the best budget quality/price ratio you can have in Bremen. Only downside is the breakfast: optional €7,50 fix price per person buffet, felt excessive given the budget nature of the place.

The room was fine, but the air con made a horrid whinging noise when on, and it was cold when it was off, the shower head leaked, so the water pressure was low, the towels smelt of cigarette smoke and the neighbouring room's TV was rather noisy (at 3am). I guess these are all the things that one has to face in a busy hotel. The male receptionist's attitude wasn't acceptable, just rude. However, none of this would stop me staying again, its a cheap place and you get what you pay for. What

Friendly receptionist and very helpful. Room with 2 single beds but attached to each other. Room 202 at the backside and not much noise from the outside. You hear the TV from other rooms. Bathroom has some toiletries like mending kit, body lotion and cotton pads. Shower leaks water onto the bathroom floor. Water becomes colder if water is used in other rooms. You hear the drain bubbling when water is runs through the pipes. Pity that although it's a smoke free hotel, you can smell cigarette smoke in the bathroom. Sneaky smokers in other rooms or still some old odour from the past hotel? Complementary bottle of water is placed. Up until 22.00 you can get free tea or coffee downstairs. Plenty wall outlets. Small fridge, empty but working. If there's room, you can park in one of the garages. Only for regular cars. No one available after 10pm. Room card key gives you access to the main entrance. 10 minute walk to city centre

We were initially concerned about the neighborhood but found the hotel to be wonderful! And the neighborhood did not feel dangerous, although we did get to have discussions with our teenage boys about sex shops which were in abundance in the area. The hotel was within easy walking distance of the old town. The family room was great with a balcony and two sleeping rooms connected by a doorway. The bunk beds for the kids were perfect. The hotel really did have a colonial-era charm. You could order drinks from the front desk and enjoy them in the sitting rooms. The staff were by and large very friendly, although not universally so. We did not eat the breakfast there but did find a bakery with decent food.

Room ok with kitchenette but didn't like the sofabed it's not soft. No aircondition available in the room I got maybe it's their way of saving money. Location is good if you like to stay near the station and stores. Bad customer service especially trainee working at the reception was very unfriendly and unprofessional she invited her friends to hotel and she wanted to spend her working hours by chatting with friends in the reception not caring to work for guests. Never seen this kind of customer service, other workers were ok but rarely there. This one worker seemed to be also angry and upset about everytime I saw her there. I couldn't get any advice what to do or see in Bremen from this trainee. I wanted to like this hotel but not possible like because one of their worker spent time in the reception for her friends. Not sure if her friends also stay in the rooms I would guess so I saw them walking in corridor near rooms. Didn't see cleaners and not sure how often they clean the rooms in a week. I would return but not because customer service vary too much and has been mostly very unpolite. Price is ok for what you get but little bit of being polite or friendly it wouldn't hurt.

We drove in to Bremen on the autobahn, and as we approached the city there was a lot of road construction which delayed us over 2 hours of gridlock and very slow traffic. I had searched GPS in the car for a hotel to stay at, however there is a fine for driving in the no vehicles area of the old town and this hotel seemed in the heart of it. We did finally locate that hotel but it was on the edge of the old town and absolutely no place to park. I drove out a mile or so and then stopped to locate another place...the Hotel Residence came up and was only a mile away. The Hotel Residence is absolutely the the Best location- very quiet residential neighborhood, two blocks from the train station (for train travelers convenience) and 5 blocks from the old town. Best comfort- old former private residence with classy furniture and rooms. Best service- very friendly and helpful ladies run this place. Best price- very reasonable room price (114 euro) includes breakfast and off street parking. Best breakfast - absolutely the best breakfast we have ever had in Europe, so good and plentiful choices of delicacies hot and cold, served up in a beautiful breakfast room with window views and very nice decor. We really loved this place and the staff that run it. They even allowed us to leave our car parked in their lot until 5 pm on our check out day so we could stroll the old town some more. Please note: there is no air conditioning in this old building. We arrived on a very hot summer day, so the our room was too warm even opening the large windows didn't help. The staff here was wonderful and supplied us with a fan for the room which cooled it very nicely. I very highly recommend this place for a stay in Bremen. To the staff at Hotel Residence: THANK YOU for the wonderful stay!!

We stayed here for four nights, while we saw the sights of Bremen. We were travelling about Germany by rail and we selected this hotel due the proximity to the hauptbahnhof. Our room overlooked the side of the hauptbahnhof, so we could see some train movements through the window, and when we had the window open we heard and smelt the trains and delivery vehicles. This meant that the windows, when closed sealed us effectively from the outside. At reception, when we arrived, the team member was having a detailed conversation with another client. I was happy to wait. When it became my turn to be attended to I felt that I was not attened to with the defference I normally expeience. In fact, I had to return to the desk later to request the wifi code which was not supplied earlier even though I spoke about using the wifi. This opening experience was not a good one. The room when we entered was quite warm, I turned the air conditiner on to maximum, it seemed that cool air was wafting from the vent. But to no avail, the room remained very warm and humid even after we walked about Bremen for a few hours and then had our evening meal in Fleming's Restaurant. Now the 'mini refrigerator', we called it the 'hot' during our stay. This item never offered a temperature beneath that of the room throughout our stay. Both these problems were reported on the first morning of our stay, but nothing was done to improve the sitiuation. We did, however, report the dusty nature of the room on the first morning and action was taken and the room was dust alergy friendly for the balance of our stay. The morning buffet breakfast was, excellent. All aspects we very good, the food, the coffee and the service. It was a pleasure to have breakfast.

This was our first stay in this hotel and certainly not the last! We previously stayed for 5 years in one of the suite rooms in the now "Dorint" City hotel and had to find a better alternative while visiting friends & family in Bremen. Now after checking into this hotel I'm extremely upset that we didn't stay here years ago!! The front desk gal took very good care of us upon check in. We have a wonderful room with balcony on the 7th level. Everything is clean, modern, bright....with floor to ceiling picture windows overlooking the river and church. Very nice amenity liquid rum soap & peppermit shampoo by MALIN & GOETZ. The electronics & lighting in our room is top notch! The breakfast buffet was delicious...service friendly and I really enjoy ordering my eggs cooked over easy. My only recommendation...would be fresh squeezed oj...but realize it may not be cost effective....that being said the selection of other juices is very impressive. Because the oj wasn't fresh I tried BANANA JUICE for the first time...Wowzie...delicious!!!! THANK YOU for our beautiful room and we should mention our very good friend J.Schnitger highly recommended this hotel after our consistent disappointment at the other hotel. We will be longterm & loyal guests at this hotel into the future. Thank you, Kristin & Christian😎😎

I stayed at the ACHAT Plaza for just 1 night (thankfully) and then moved to a service apartment the following day. The hotel is situated very close to Hauptbahnoff, the central train station in Bremen and there are plenty of eateries and restaurants around. It's about 15 minutes away from the airport and costed me 20 euros by taxi. My check-in process was very smooth but the real problem started when I entered my room. I was given room number 324 and upon entering, I realised that the carpet was totally damp. It was completely soggy and was difficult to walk around the room barefoot. I informed the staff and a lady promptly arrived to check. When she realised the problem was genuine, she informed me that the previous occupant was probably careless while having a shower and thus the water had come outside. She couldn't answer my questions as to how the whole room might be wet if this was the case. I suspected that it could be a seepage problem but she was adamant that that wasn't the case. When I requested to be given another room, I was informed that the hotel was completely booked and there were no spare rooms. I was quite sure this wasn't the case but I couldn't do much. The lady, whose name was Irina [-], apologised profusely for the inconvenience and offered me a complimentary drink and desserts. As there was nothing else for me to do, I accepted the offer and went down to the restaurant and was then informed that I could only have a glass of champagne and a chocolate mousse dessert. Nothing else was complimentary and I was not given any choice. The mousse itself was tasteless and it appeared that I was being discouraged from ordering anything more. I was so disgusted by this time that I even went to another restaurant nearby for dinner. The breakfast in the morning was an entirely different matter and the spread was large and the food was very delicious. However, the hotel was understaffed and dirty plates and cutlery weren't cleared even after people had left their tables. I checked-out after this and Irina again apologised sincerely but I was quite happy to be leaving the place.

This was my second A&O hostel of the three where I lived. They are all of the same type, but it is more a virtue than a disadvantage. They are multi-storey and therefore full of people in them. If you are social, it will be a plus for you. They are located next to the main station. In Bremen it is a 7-10 minute walk. And 15-20 from the center. There is a cafe. The staff is young and friendly. Wi-Fi is free (this is a plus in Germany). Clean and inexpensive. However, the charging did not work, but a neighbor from Dusseldorf helped with an extension cord (thanks to him for this).

I loved my time at Best Western!! I stayed here for 8 days with my wife and son and we found the apartment large and comfortable. The location is ideal and is just a few hundred metres away from Hauptbahnoff, the main train station and there are plenty of eateries and restaurants around. There is a large REWE supermarket across the main road but beware that it's closed on Sundays. From the airport, it's a 20 minutes taxi ride to this place and will cost 20 euros. Breakfast was included in my package at an extra cost but the spread was disappointing and the menu was the same everyday. As it was Christmas time, the hotel was packed with travellers and it was also difficult finding a table in the mornings. But the staff were very friendly and warm. Bremen also has one of the best Christmas markets in Germany and its about 4 tram stops away from Best Western. But it's also easily walkable and it takes about 10 minutes.

My friend was born here so he decided to take us to his hometown. He chose Steigenberger because it was a well-known brand. We were all pleasantly surprised with how modern the hotel room was. The lobby was great and the check-in agent was friendly, not to mention speak excellent English. WIFI was complimentary and the speed was excellent. Parking was great and despite what the sign said, the parking for the hotel was on the same floor as the entrance. Nonetheless please note the hotel is located in a business district, including next to the tallest building in Bremen, so dining in the evening is limited to hotel only. However downtown was a few stops away from the streetcar. Perhaps the only negative aspect about the location is that the train (busy) line was located next to hotel, so please email hotel about the type of rooms to book in securing a quiet room if you are sensitive to noise. Breakfast was nice but they were obviously under-staffed. I appreciate the omelette station much. In conclusion, it is a very nice hotel and I definitely recommend it.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The hotel is right across the street from the huge central park and a brief walk from the train station and the historic downtown. The rooms are huge and have nice large windows. Ours overlooked the beautiful park which was a great place for a hike. It was an easy walk to the historic center as well and the neighborhood is really pleasant with lots of beautiful trees and gardens. There is a nice restaurant in the hotel but it is rather expensive so for the most part we walked in to the old town to grab breakfast or lunch and had so many great choices. The hotel has a nice indoor pool and a great sauna for relaxation. That was really enjoyable I also appreciated it that they allowed a very early check in and the staff were quite pleasant. I find this to be a nice choice in Bremen.

Very convenient access from the airport to the hotel as it’s located literally over the road. Lady greeted me at the reception, proceeded to check-in early as I was there an hour before scheduled arrival. During the check-in I was informed that there isn’t any restaurant or bar open on the premises, bare in mind please I left home 6:30 am and at this point it was 2pm so the only option was McDonald’s down the road. Went in to my room. Very pleasant I have to say, comfy bed, “warm” bottle of still water on the counter plus tea and coffee included in your stay. Considering it’s a COVID pandemic rooms are claimed to be extra clean by hotel, that unfortunately wasn’t the case. During a shower I was stabbed with short dark hair in my toe, ( not mine ) it basically hurts like a splinter. After taking a closer look at the shower floor it definitely wasn’t properly cleaned or cleaned at all. Had to depart early so went to breakfast at 7:00 am. Restaurant was empty, except friendly writer and a chef. I have been handed the menu, I believe it was supposed to be buffet style breakfast but giving the situation we are all in it wasn’t an issue until I saw the menu. Available food was bread, cheese and jam which cost €9 not even a boiled egg. I enjoyed my bread roll with cheese and listened to very unprofessional conversation between waiter and chef during the whole meal. I always book my trips with breakfast as it’s a very convenient way of starting early day but I have been told I have to pay. Booking.com always provides very detailed booking and breakfast was included. Unfortunately time wasn’t on my side that morning and I haven’t had time to argue my case. I will not be staying in this hotel ever again. I have traveled a lot and this isn’t a 4* hotel. Very disappointed. I give two stars as bed and pillows were comfy, otherwise it would of been one.
