Excellent location just behind the centre. Perfect for walking. One floor up. no lift but a special chair lift for the disabled. Some free parking right outside. The room was large, clean but spartan. Bathroom worked and was not too small. Plugs were scarce. Very weak wifi. Although in a side street, it could be surprisingly noisy at times. Ask for a room away from the street. Good continental breakfast. Hosts very kind. Overall this is fine for people looking for the basics. Not cheap but the prices generally seem high.

I picked the hotel because of its location on Piazza Italia and it was absolutely perfect. We were right in the old city with all the local bus stops right outside and an easy walk from the bus station. Our hotel room was stunning, with antique furniture, beautifully decorated and absolutely enormous. Everything was clean and tidy, and the staff were all so friendly and lovely. Breakfast included a huge variety of different dishes. My mum is wheat-intolerant, but they had a whole selection of gluten-free bread and cakes for her, so she had as many options as I did. We had dinner in La Rosetta one evening and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced given the quality and the first-rate service. We couldn't have been happier with the stay and I'll be recommending the hotel to all my friends.

The more we read the mixed reviews of this hotel, the more we wanted to stay in it. So glad we did, its location alone is worth the hassle of driving through the twisty and narrow streets of Perugia! We parked in Piazza Partigiani and took the escalators up to Piazza Italia (the journey through the subterranean chambers of Rocca Paolina is surreal). It isn’t much of a hassle if you only carry a tote bag or backpack with your clothes, totally impractical if you have roller cases (also note: the escalators from the carpark go up, but coming down uses mostly stairs). The hotel is perfectly located on via Bonazzi, a quiet street off the main drag of Corso Vannucci. You can’t miss this lovely building covered in ivy vines, it’s so characteristic. We stayed here for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. Our room was on the 4th floor (403/404 – basically half of a set of two rooms sharing a bathroom, no one was in the other room so we basically had the whole place to ourselves, yes it was a quirky arrangement but it worked very well). Our room looked out on to the streets but we were high enough not to hear any street noise, only the bells of the city and the cooing of the pigeons in the rooftops – magical! Speaking of rooftop, we loved going up to the roof terrace to enjoy the surrounding views at different times of day (it’s just up the stairs from our room). My favourite time is early morning watching the light change as the sun rises while I do a spot of yoga and meditation. Our room was very comfortable, pleasant temperature and quiet, we certainly slept well here. Whilst my husband could not work the safe, I did (the female brain wins!). No problems with the lift either, it worked every time – yes, it’s cozy especially for guests of ample proportions plus luggage, one just has to take these niggles as part of the charm of old buildings. Worthy of comment is the reception staff in this hotel, they’re lovely! We were a bit stressed when we arrived after all the driving and they immediately put us at ease with their welcoming smiles and understanding nature. They really are an asset to this hotel. Can’t say the same for the breakfast buffet though – it’s such a disappointment. Weak cappuccinos, mediocre range of fruit, yoghurts, breads and pastries (true, not replenished often enough, filled croissants had artificial fillings, yoghurts only one flavour), cold eggs, chewy muesli and meager amounts of nuts! Serving staff frenetically tidying up, we had breakfasts over 3 days and they never even acknowledged that we were there. Oh well, I guess you can’t expect excellence in everything for the rate we paid. On the whole, it is good value and as stated earlier, in an excellent location, everything that Perugia has to offer is within walking distance. We’d definitely stay here again if we ever return to the city, and we’d ask for our room again!

What a wonderful and unforgettable stay in this historical palazzo with its stunning high ceiling fresco in the breakfast lounge, contemporary designed bathrooms and spacious rooms! Plenty of fresh and tasty options served for breakfast. Hamid, at the reception has been an outstanding host, offering us a warm welcome and plenty of recommendations according to our taste. This was our first time in Perugia with my brother and now we dream of coming back! (in the warm season to enjoy the rooftop and a room with private jacuzzi on the balcony…)

Hotel Iris is a stunning old building where Richard Wagner apparently stayed late in his life. The building and bedrooms are full of character. Our room had a beautiful painted ceiling and a newly fitted bathroom but overall the hotel still needs some work to bring it up to date. The breakfast was adequate rather than superb and it was somewhat interesting carting what you wanted upstairs from the basement to go and sit on the outside area. But the staff were very friendly, helpful and it was great value. The town is a short, but steep walk up from the hotel and don’t be mislead by any google references to St Anna Station close by. It has now closed and the town can instead be accessed easily from the main railway station by the Mini Metro system. A comfortable stay and Perugia is well worth a visit.

Located in the upper parts of this ancient and beautiful city. Everything is uphill as is the climb to the main square, cathedral and museum. Worth the climb. Booked direct to get €6 breakfast included at €272 (includes local tax) Traditional small hotel in need of some TLC. You might find the threadbare carpet on the stairs and rickety hand rail charming or the cut off ends a hazard. The bedroom furniture is standard and tasteless; bed is fin the tiny bathroom is adequate but the shower is really small! Cheap nasty shampoo sachets. Breakfast is a sad offer. I have never seen so many long life packets on offer in an area of outstanding culinary offers. Would not stay again but the staff offer a handy airport collection service for €25 each way. It’s. 2 star hotel firmly stuck in the last century. So you might find this charming we did not. Manage your expectations and you may like it. Buyer be aware

For the past several years my husband and I have visited Italy during Christmas and New Year, traveling with Italian relatives from Milan. We booked Relais Santa Cecilia over New Years and immediately began to question the choice as the booking itself was a challenge, the manager Carla indicating the "credit card machine" was broken and requiring direct bank transfer of funds. When we arrived, the room itself (the "French" room) was tiny -- not suitable for two adults -- the very uncomfortable bed is really a single bed -- there was not even room to place two suitcases within the room. We asked Carla if there were other rooms available and she was very aggressive and rude, her immediate response was "that's the room you picked". Given it was New Years Eve, we were somewhat stuck, but ended up booking another hotel for two nights during the middle of our stay as this place was too depressing to spend our holidays in. Added issues: the heat was on a timer and it was continually cold; we had to ask for an extra blanket and toilet paper; after four nights in the room they never replaced toiletries; they make a point of indicating they don't change towels for environmental purposes, but then the entire breakfast is made up of packaged pastries wrapped in plastic (not so much as a piece of fruit in sight); there is no lounge area other than a small sofa which sits directly opposite the reception desk. It was overall a very uncomfortable and unwelcoming stay. I wouldn't be writing this review if Carla's attitude had been a bit more hospitable, less aggressive, or had she provided the illusion that she cared about anything other than collecting our money. This place amounts to a glorified hostel.

The best breakfasts, most fabulous views, most attentive friendly owners, fabulous showers and fluffy towels, great location and all at a decent price - what’s not to love?! We loved our two stays in this fabulous little hotel tucked away in quiet part of the old city, just minutes from the main Centro Storico. The hosts are extremely helpful and accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Chiara was really helpful with telephoning the bus company for us, and her parents gave us an excellent dinner suggestion (pizza meditteraneo, just off the main Piazza). Our rooms (36 and 37) had spectacular views, and fantastic showers and deliciously fluffy towels. (Room 36 was a “superior room” and has a better view, whereas the “standard rooms” might be smaller or have less spectacular views. If you book the upstairs room with a terrace (room 40) the view is even more spectacular and you have a private terrace all to yourself on which you can take breakfast, but this room is priced more expensively). The breakfast buffet was also fantastic and far exceeded usual Italian standards, including boiled eggs, cheeses, meats, a selection of fresh breads and delicious pastries, yogurts, cereals, fruits, fresh juices and excellent coffee). The room also included a choice of Teas, coffees (instant) and packaged breads and croissants. The only slight downside to be aware of is that three of the rooms (31, 36, 37) open directly onto the breakfast area and therefore are a bit noisy from 8 AM until around 10 AM. For me however this wasn’t a major problem and was well worth the excellent view (from rooms 36 and 37 anyway). The location, service and facilities make this hotel a true gem, and we loved it so much we returned a week later... and no doubt we will be back again!

I'm sure that in the regular season this hostel would be excellent. However i went before xmas and it was deserted, so that kind of affected my view on it. However, it was clean, comfortable beds with a good common area. and the staff were super helpful and friendly and was 2 mins walk from everything. Only real down side was ( the usual) issue with having a shared bathroom in a 12 bed dorm, and maybe one other communal, which in busy season could cause issues. However if i went back to perugia, i would probably stay here again.

I booked a reservation on booking, after stressing that I was expecting to find a cleaned room due to a severe allergy to dust. I received a mail by the manager of the structure, which informed me that they would have provided me with a room without moquette . You can imagine how amazed I was after they showed me the room: the best they could offer at the same prime of the plain service. Moreover, we received a discount for the breakfast ( which was delicious, by the way). Highly recommended.

The HOtel is a bit removed from the center of the city but this is not bad considering that the ones in the are often difficult to reach by car. The structure is new and has been recently restored. rooms are average size and bathrooms are spacious with a shower that has a wide 1mtx1mt size. The bed is comfortable and the king size is not made of 2 separate beds that separate during the night when you sleep at the juncture. The restaurant is very good and the staff is exceptionally friendly and professional. The food is top level and there is a welcome snack table that alone is worth the visit The wi.fi is very fast up to 50MB/S which is really strange in a hotel Some suggestions to the extremely good and professional staff and manager/owner (?): 1. Change the shower heads with simpler and water-efficient ones that double tye water pressure 2. A larger TV screen would be a great improvement 3. Why not think about a Lavazza coffee machine in the rooms as well?
