I rented this apartment for a friend and I to share. WOW! We loved the apartment and the location. It was very roomy with an extra sitting room off one bedroom. We had everything we could want including great WiFi. I would recommend without hesitation.

My son and I visited Bologna in late August 2019. It was a surprise treat for my birthday. We both found the accommodation he had chosen, to be great. Leno - the owner/manager, was incredibly helpful and so amiable, even though it was gone midnight when we arrived (due to our luggage not arriving with us at the airport). He was a typical Italian and lovely with it. He made us feel very welcome and like 'family'. I would definitely stay at this accommodation again. Our room; the lift and the kitchen area were shown to us, and everything explained... with Leno offering his assistance at any time we required it. The fridge freezer had a water and ice 'on tap' facility, which was excellent. We were told to use the communal kitchen and lounge area as much as we wanted to. All of the rooms were secure in the building with a locked iron gate which had coded access. There was an elevator to the rooms... although the heat inside the lift was like a furnace - but no probs - our room - and I assume all rooms, had air conditioning, which was great. We had an automatic controlled shutter over the skylight window, so you could control the lights, tv and air con without getting out of your bed if you didn't want to! There was a tv and hairdryer provided in the room. The furniture was basic, but very pleasant and all that was needed for our comfort. We had a twin-bedded room; both beds were very clean and very comfortable. The room was clean and well kept on arrival; although the bin wasn't emptied or the floor hoovered/swept during our stay; but we were provided with clean towels at any time we wanted. I am sure that if we had have asked for the bin and floor to be dealt with, they would have - no problem. In the bathroom en-suite, there was a shower, toilet and bidet, which had good lighting - a must for make-up application ;) ... but the natural light in the room was good also. there was also plenty of hot water whenever you needed a shower; and sufficient plug sockets for any electricals! Our location was very central for every amenity. Immediately out of the main gate and opposite was a cafe, which was fab for breakfast, lunch and tea, if you didn't want to wander... but with so many wonderful cafes and restaurants and bars and coffee shops all around - you were spoilt for choice. Our only regret is that we didn't have longer than 3 full days, to try out more of these wonderful places. This hotel was a fabulous little find. My son and I really enjoyed the friendliness experienced here. Leno was a little gem. :) He even booked our taxi to the airport for us, and waited with us outside in the square at 3.45 am, to make sure our taxi came on time for our flight. I would most definitely stay here again. Thank you, Leno .... ciao! x

Perfect central location, comfortable room and amazingly friendly host! We absolutely loved our stay in Room 8 at these charming apartments located directly opposite one the highlights of the Old Town, The Twin Towers of Bologna (Le due Torri). The two towers - the Torre degli Asinelli (the tallest Medieval tower in the world at 97.2 meters, built between 1109 & 1119) and it's little sister, the Garisenda Tower, were a delight to wake up and view each morning from the balcony of our third floor room. We had a wonderful King Size memory foam bed which was one of THE most comfortable we've beds ever slept in! So much so, we're now looking at buying one!! Our host was incredibly obliging and helpful. He went out of his way to make sure our stay was the best it could possibly be. Breakfast is easy to find at many of the cafes dotted close-by and directly downstairs in the entrance to the apartment building. If you're interested in history and love Italian food, Bologna is an absolute treat and this place made our stay a memorable one. There are many fabulous examples of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. One of our highlights were the 40km of winding porticoes throughout the city which make it a totally unique and fabulous way of exploring the Old Town on foot. There are many different styles of porticoes, such as the wooden 13th century casa Isolani to the most famous (our favourite) and longest in the world, porta Saragozza at 4 km long! We thoroughly enjoyed our romantic weekend break in Bologna and had many fabulous meals, as only Italy can so effortlessly do. Ristorante Clavature was wonderful for the famous Bolognese "Ragù" and the Corner Bar served fantastic Italian sandwiches and pastries - each easily reached by foot from our apartment. I was lucky enough to have this weekend break at the Cosmopolitan as a special Valentines Day treat. A big thank you to my Valentine ❤️ Bologna, you were an absolute pleasure x

Wonderful stay in this hotel. Public parking very close (special price thanks to the hotel), otherwise the hotel also has private garage. Good explanations sent via email to reach the hotel. Very central location, in the centre of the old town. The best location to visit Bologna ! The bedrooms are large, very clean. The hotel is clean too and beautifully decorated. Good breakfast. Last but not least : the staff is wonderful. Special thanks to Maria, who made our stay unforgettable. We arrived late on the first night and she offered to book a restaurant for us (and it was delicious!). She was very nice and helpful during our stay. We would definitely go there again ! Don't be worried in this Covid period : Italian people respect a lot the health recommendations !

We had a wonderful stay at the Residency Casa Isolani on Piazza Maggiore (Via D'Azeglio)! For our first stay in Bologna it was the perfect choice - directly on Piazza Maggiore!! The Casa Isolani is a mixture between hotel/apartment. There’s no reception and we received the key our two rooms upon appointment. For every question we could contact the Residency by WhatsApp and received immediately an reply. For the breakfast, we received voucher for an typical Italian breakfast (cappuccino and croissant) in the most typical and nice café just around the corner. On of the rooms (called “Piazza Maggiore”) has a balcony overlooking the Piazza and we could have stayed hours there watching the crowd on of the most beautiful squares of Italy. We were also lucky to be in Bologna for the St.Antoninio Festival, with music on the square and a huge firework, directly in front of the window! If you want silence, it’s enough to close the hermetic windows. The hotel situation in Bologna is difficult (few and very old hotels) and the Casa Isolani is an excellent alternative, if you don’t mind not having a reception service or a breakfast room. And instead you get the most incredible feeling of living in the middle of Bologna, a city I fell in love with! We will definitely come back!

This was just the bext place you could possibly wish to stay in Bologna. The location is superb - right next to Piazza Maggiore and within minutes of all the restaurants, shopping and tourist attractions you could wish for. We were met by the immaculately dressed Fillipo who gave us a great introduction to Bologna. The room was immaculately clean and well appointed. We stayed in Francseca and had a balcony with views of churches, towers and lots of rooves. Breakfast was in a lovely cafe around the corner where the service was excellent. My favourite thing was to open the balcony door and listen to Bologna - the hubbub of people having a good time, the bells, the singing in the churches ... just perfect.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The housekeeping was amaing! Room was cleaned perfectly every time. Here is why we will never book this place again: - it’s extremely far from everything. Basically, in the middle of nowhere. 3 miles feel like more like 20 when you travel by bus to the center. - the A/C in the room didn’t work, so we had to go downstairs and work on that issue with management. - WiFi on the 3rd floor doesn’t work at all! You have 0 connection in the dining area as well. It barely works in the lobby. And the management is aware of that. - somebody mentioned that you could buy bus tickets in the lobby of the hotel. Well, not really. You will be sent to get them on the bus. COINS ONLY. The manager in the hotel said that we could pay with bills. We got fined 2 minutes later (€200) because we only had bills and we were asking people if they could help us out with that. While we were trying to split the bill, the ATAF approached us and made us pay the fines even though he saw that a man was helping us out with coins. - the people that work there are very rude and careless. They don’t care about your experience or the issues you may have with the room. - the room had a fridge that didn’t work. - breakfast is below average and there is no other option available unless you take a bus and ride to the center. You waste a lot of time on your trip waiting for the bus to arrive as well as getting from the hotel to the center and then back. It’s not worth it, especially if you come all the way from the USA. It’s better to find a better hotel and pay a higher price to enjoy more of Bologna and not to have to deal with the management every time the A/C stops working.

I'm very impressed with this facility as I stayed here for work the week of Jan 20-25 for work. The facility was clean & modern, the rooms were also clean & modern, and the restaurant had EXCELLENT Bolognese! (God do I love Bolognese! It's made no where better in the world then Bologna.) The best part for me is that most hotels in Bologna do not offer air conditioning and the rooms are always extremely hot forcing you to open the windows & then it gets too cold. Each room at the Best Western has an automatic thermostat that sets the room temperature with heat & AIR CONDITIONING! Whenever I need to travel to Bologna for work or for our kickoff sales meeting, I'm going to request staying at this facility again!

I have stayed at the hotel with the largest room size of the same price, even larger than domestic hotels. The bathroom is large, the bed is large, and everything is comfortable. The child likes it very much. Luggage self storage. Breakfast is 12 euros per child, free for children 11 years old. The hotel location is just opposite the train station. There is a Chinese restaurant about 20 meters to the left of the hotel. The dining is convenient, and the female boss is also good.

Hotel location is very good: close to the central railway station (just 7-8 min walk) in the quiet street. The (double) room is quite big and the bathroom is amazing. The room have nice furniture and all you need (mini bar, TV, good WiFi...) Hotel interior is fantastic, from wall paintings to the breakfast restaurant, all that gives very pleasant ambient. Breakfast was fantastic with very various food, espresso, cappuccino, tea, various juices... At the end, most important: staff was very very nice and very helpful. All credits to them! Now I know in what hotel I will stay for next Bologna visit.

In my opinion this hotel deserves a better grade. We stayed 4 nights here and we were really pleased with our choice. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist, checked in with professionalism. Then our room, large clean room, with a separate dressing closet super extra convenient and with lots of space for your luggage.Large comfortable bed, large clean bathroom with all the amenities. Only thing missing was sleepers and bathrobes but we got them after asking the reception. The breakfast is served in a very large space and his very satisfying. There really is a great choice of food enough to please everyone, from fruits to salad, to pastries etc etc.The staff is very prompt to serve your coffee or help you in anyway. We also ate two times at the restaurant that is very warm and cosy space with a great atmosphere. We had complimentary prosecco on the 1rst of January and again the staff is very kind and the food is not bad at all which is not always the case in hotel restaurants. First of january being my birthday, they had a small presnt delivered to my room with a kind note, which i found very nice and touching. The situation of the hotel is simply fantastic. One step from the train station which means convenient if you want to go to Pisa or Florence. One step from the shuttles that go to the airport. One step from the bus that goes to Fico Italy, and super close to the city center. For us Star Hotel Excelsior was a perfect choice and we would stay there again with no hesitation.

This hotel is out of the city of Bologna and not very well connected if you aren’t fit enough for some walking, but please read on. We got a great deal through BA, £171 each for three nights, including breakfast and flights for two people from LHR! Very good. You’ll need to get a taxi (25€ each way) or the bus which is a 15 minute walk and 2€ each way if you wish to be in Bologna city. The bus stop is in Via Golinelli, opposite the cafe on the corner of the street. Bus number 89. You pay using coins only on a machine in the bus. For the city, get off at Piazza Magpighi and walk from there. Step off bus, turn to your right, cross the road at the crossing, under the arch and follow into the centre of the city, maybe 10-15 minutes walk. It is easy but allow an hour between leaving the hotel and arriving at Piazza Maggiore. Bus 89 is every 30 mins, hotel have timetables, but roughly 15 and 45 past the hour. The hotel serves a great breakfast, lots of choice. The pool is indoor and small in size but perfect for a cool down. There are a few fitness machines by the poolside and towels for swimming, as well as a few wooden relaxing chairs. The bedrooms are good, a decent size, beds comfortable and all you need. There is a hairdryer, shower gel and shampoo are replaced daily. There is a mini fridge in the room. No hot drinks facilities in the room so I’d suggest taking coffee sachets or teabags as you can help yourself to hot water in reception. The room key provides electricity so you can’t charge your phone while you’re at breakfast, try to remember to do it overnight. It was 32 degrees here and the room’s air con was excellent, we slept in complete comfort. On our first day, we walked around to ExtraCoop supermarket, (look for Q8 fuel station and find entrance to mall opposite) and stocked up on water and snacks for the room. We had dinner at 480GRADI next to Burger King which was very good. We also enjoyed 2 evening meals at Gustavo in the shopping mall. The huge bowls of pick-and-mix salads for 6.10E are so, so delicious and the ‘bowl’ is a massive tortilla, which my child thought was brilliant! We then popped into ExtraCoop to find a cheeky pudding, ice cream or a cream bun, some chocolate... Back to Bologna again, it’s worth knowing that there is a drinking water fountain and bottle refill next to the Neptune Fountain in Piazza Maggiore so you needn’t keep buying water in the city, just refill your bottles there. Another note on transport. The Aerobus between the airport and city is of little use to you if you are staying at this hotel. The walk from the closest city stop that the Aerobus makes to the centre of Bologna is a hot and heavy 20 mins plus with suitcases! I had the brainwave to get the Aerobus to the city then taxi to the hotel but this cost me a lot more than a taxi from the airport straight to the hotel would have done. Look on a map and you’ll see why I thought this might be a good option. The Aerobus is 6€ one way person so cost
