The location is slightly off, not on the side of the main road, you have to go inside, but you can ignore driving or taxi. The room is ok, it is quiet away from the road, the parking is free, the breakfast is average, but the price is very high compared to its price, it is recommended.

Made a Reservation for April 15th, due to driving from Florida to Mississippi, and this was one of the cheaper options in BHM. Arrived Friday Evening, and our first room was a King Bed that had stains on the bed, and didn't feel clean. The room also smelled like Smoke although it was a Non smoking Room. We asked to switch rooms, and were changed to a 2 double bed. This room was an unsafe room, with a busted door and busted deadbolt lock, stains on pillows and the sheets, dirty walls, and you could tell where someone had kicked in the bathroom door. One of the lights had been ripped out of the wall, and the wires were taped over with duck tape. One of the smoke detectors were also ripped off the wall, but they still had a fire alarm. On the property you could smell marijuana, and there were gang members all around the property. Shannon at the front desk was very helpful and very understanding and had given us a refund, and we ended up staying at the Comfort Inn up the hill. Unless Motel 6 Corporate could intervene, I would never recommend staying due to SEVERAL Safety Issues. Shannon, if you read this, I wanted to thank you for being so understanding about the situation, but guests need to know what's going on at this property. I hope you guys can get help from Motel 6 and save this property, as it could be a great property. Thanks again!

We stayed two night while on vacation. Staff were wonderful. They gave me a map and a list of things to see. They let me borrow a highlighter to mark my map. They let us park our truck with motorcycle trailer with no difficulty. They even let us leave it there for a few hours after we checked out. Room was huge with two king size beds each with tv with a partial wall in between. The room was quiet as it was at the end of the hall. The floors are vinyl and were clean. I’d highly recommend. They also had AAA discount. The sink area was outside of the shower/toilet area.

This was would have been a 3 star review if not for the extra above and beyond customer service by Tabitha. Our check in person was also friendly. The hotel very worn but clean. The lid was loose and fell off the ac. The toilet kept backing up and would take several flushes after a bm. The shower soap was empty. On the plus side it was very quiet even being close to the elevator. The breakfast had 3 choices for fresh fruit as well as the usual fare for a Hampton Inn. But big shout out to Tabitha who handled expertly some assistance I needed with changing a reservation at another location. Thank you

When a tree fell on my family home during a bad thunderstorm storm and caused extensive damage, I knew I was going to have to find somewhere to stay that could accommodate me for an extended period of time. I chose Suburban Extended Stay Hotel mainly because of the great reviews, the location, and the fact that it was the only extended stay hotel in the area with a FULL kitchen. But I soon found out that there was a long list of things that I appreciated and loved about this hotel. I got the 1 queen bed, 1 bedroom suite that has a bedroom that is separate from the main living room/full kitchen area. When it says apartment style, it really means it! I was so impressed by how big it was! Extremely spacious. Right away I felt better about the situation with my house. I immediately felt at home! The interior corridor made me feel extra safe, plus I think it made it nice and quite. I never heard any televisions, music, or loud conversations or yelling. This hotel really is a home away from home. They even provide the kitchens with a few pots, utensils, plates, etc.! The bed was VERY comfy, including the bedding. Not only was the suite extremely clean, the whole hotel had very high standards of cleanliness. Which I know is important to everyone especially during a pandemic. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. To top everything off the prices are super reasonable! I would recommend Suburban Extended Stay Hotel in Homewood, Alabama to anyone who is looking for a hotel. Whether it’s for one night or one month, business or pleasure, one person or a whole family. This hotel won’t disappoint!

Always been impressed with Embassy Suites, but not this one. We arrived a little past 3:30 p.m. on a Friday afternoon after a busy day of activities and travel. Expected a quick and easy check in, but got the opposite. Approximately eight other guests in line for the one clerk (two other stations available but not staffed) who was in no rush to make anything happen. You would think that there would be an “all hands on deck” philosophy to handle prime time check in times! Approximately 20 minutes into our wait, two other employees reported for their apparent 4 o’clock shifts, but then took another 10 minutes to log in as more customers waited in line: Btw, online digital check in was not available. So just as we were approaching the front of the line, a second line opened. Pretty mundane clerk who I’m sure felt we were lucky to have her. No apology or acknowledgment of our wait, but she did make sure we paid the $5 parking fee. On top of that she told thus that only one of the three elevators was working and the pool was closed as well. The one positive we encountered was Chris, the bartender, who was friendly and made us the strong drinks we needed an hour before. The evening reception consisted largely of chips and salsa. It’s probably a good thing no one from the management staff was at the reception, as I would have likely discussed the issues. I understand short staffing and all, but I got the impression that no one (other than Chris) wanted to be there or gave a damn. So I would likely suggest you carefully read the numerous mediocre reviews on TripAdvisor and go elsewhere. As a longtime Hilton Honors member, it may be time to retire this Embassy Suites from the brand family or at least give a mandatory Hospitality 101 refresher course starting with the general manager.

and it was only about a mile away. It is a nice hotel in downtown UAB area of Birmingham. Charged $12 to park. It is a Home2Suites and a Hilton Garden Inn together. Pretty cool. We stayed in the Home 2 part. When we checked in, we were NOT greeted as Hilton Honors Members. As we were checking in, one girl was stocking up on the water but we were not offered our complimentary bottles. As we brought our luggage in, I asked for water and was given some. Our room was a king and we had 3 pillows. We had a couch that made in to a bed (granted, we didn't need it, but there was NO bedding in the room). When we went to the front desk, we asked for an extra pillow. One of the women went to look for another pillow and came back saying they had no extra pillows. When I questioned that, she said, "Do you want a wet pillow?" in a somewhat snotty tone. A man then went and looked and came back with a pillow. If we had had the bedding for the couch bed we would've had the pillow. All the dishes and silverware were IN the dishwasher. There was a sign that said everything in there was clean, but as I pulled out silverware, some of it was NOT clean. I was not about to empty the dishwasher so we left the dishes and silverware we used in the sink. We didn't hate this hotel, but thought that things could've been better. The front desk staff could've been more professional (they were eating their dinner at the front desk when we asked about the pillow) . The one girl shouldn't have asked if we wanted a wet pillow. She could've said, "All pillows are wet. They will be dry in x amount of time and we will bring one to the room. It was also a random Wednesday night wth TWO hotels (so I doubt they were totally booked) and an extra pillow probably could've been found without snotty commentary.

I always use this motel when I travel to Alabama. It’s always clean and the staff are always friendly. They have begun charging a $50 damage fee and I suggest you use cash for that because they take their sweet time returning it to your card.

Love this place! We used to hop around hotels in the area and now we only stay here. Centrally located in perhaps the most pedestrian part of Birmingham. You can get to the airport, watch a Baron/USFL/NBA D-League game, have a nice dinner and take the family to Railroad Park all within a 10 minute walk or drive. The other part I love and perhaps I should have mention first is the staff. Be prepared to be greeted with a smile and “how you doing?” by everyone on staff. It’s a nice adjustment if you’re a frequent traveler. Mr. Curtis and Frankie are always pleasant to see…probably because the kids love them. I left valuable items by accident once and the GM personally handed them to me as soon as I walked in. I’ve been to this hotel before but it just feels different lately…in a positive way. I know my kids would vouch for that. I’d love it even more if they added a kitchen and bar!! 😍

We’ve enjoyed staying at the Tut for many years; a wonderful older hotel with lots of character. My latest visit was wonderfully surprising. As Covid is subsiding, the hotel is busy again. But the hotel has been getting ready for guests with new carpet, paint, furniture. Still full of character and charm, and now looking bright again Their complimentary breakfast is back with hot selections as well as fruit and healthy alternatives. Great breakfast selection and friendly service And their restaurant/ bar, Sixteen, is getting rave reviews and well deserved. Family owned and staffed, the bar god, Marcus, does classic cocktails. The completely redone Sixteen restaurant is swanky, classic, urban cool with an excellent menu and bar. Something that the Tut had been missing until recently. The staff, professional, friendly, make this hotel a delight when traveling or visiting Birmingham. This is a Birmingham classic not to be missed.

Worst experience of my life. We checked into the room and found used drug needles. We went downstairs and reported it to the front desk. The manager did not act surprised or concerned enough to get off her phone call. She asked if we wanted to move rooms, which of course we did. We leave the hotel and show back up 7 hours later and are confronted by their armed "security" guards. These men escort us to our room and tell us that they must search it for drugs and paraphernalia. Don't think they have that true authority. They search the room, find nothing of course. They then proceed to tell me that once we reported the needles they sent the cleaning lady up to clean the needles up (another huge mistake) and when she got up there she reported she found two fresh needles with blood and a crack pipe. They refused to show us this proof, but then interrogated us in the hallway for over 20 minutes. They were dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. I have never been treated or been through anything like this in my life. We were told we had to stay as they called two law enforcement to the scene because they have a "zero tolerance drug policy". The two law enforcement showed up and questioned us. They were very nice and I immediately felt safer with them there. They did tell us that the hotel chose to evict us and write us up for trespassing and that we had to leave. My husband and I were kicked out of this hotel at midnight on a Saturday night for "trespassing" after we reported drug paraphernalia at 4pm that afternoon. It was extremely traumatic and humiliating. Their negligence and lack of concern put us in a very unsafe situation and I am completely appalled at how we were treated. 10/10 do not recommend stepping near this place.

My daughter & I had a reservation for May 7th-9th. We were given a room in the furthest part of the property next to a trash dump (Issue #1) A couple hours after arriving, there were 3 three cop cars outside of the building in some sort of issue that lasted 3-4 hours!! (Issue #2). Being that the hotel was an extended stay, we assumed there would be kitchenware in the place but there wasn't. We called the front desk to request silverware and was hung up on. (Issue #3) My daughter made do by eating her microwaved dinner with the cardboard from the top of the package! Remember the before-mentioned trash dump? Well it was emptied LOUDLY by a trash truck at 4:15am on a Saturday morning! (Issue #4). We decided that we did not want to stay another night! I went to the front desk around noon to inform them that we would not be staying another night. They didn't ask us about our stay. I attempted to explain why we were checking out a night early and the lady said "I wasn't here yesterday". She then informed me that since it was after checkout time, I wouldn't be able to be checked out in the system until the next day. Then she would send me a receipt. I didn't feel right about this but she said it was policy. A couple of hours later, I called the property back & asked again for a receipt to be sent to my email. She said again that it wouldn't be until the next day b/c of their system. After me asking again b/c it didnt' seem right, she said she would send the receipt. I still have not received the receipt.

The hotel is fine and they seem to be making improvements. HOWEVER: There are over 150 TV channels, which is good. The problem is the remote. The first channel is 7-2 and the last is 112-4. Notice the hyphens. Weird. If you want a channel in the middle, say Nickelodeon (45-3), you literally have to push the up button about 75 times to get to it from 7-2 or the down button to get to it from 112-4. Nothing else works. I asked. Every channel is hyphenated. Channel 45 is nothing. You can't start there either. Push the up button from there and you get channel 112-4. Down button takes you to 7-2. The number buttons might as well not even be there. I am sure that there are remotes that are made to work this type of cable (Spectrum the front desk thinks). Get those remotes or get a different provider. My cable company (not Spectrum or whatever you have) has a guide button on the remote. You can check out what is on, find something you like and one click takes you to it. Get that. This provider doesn't even have a channel guide much less tell you what's on or have a select button. The hotel doesn't even provide a channel list in the room. You can and should fix this. I'm a frequent traveler Choice Hotel Diamond Member and I have not seen this anywhere else. It's a poor Choice. I hope you enjoyed the pun.

Mostly we had an unpleasant experience as a result of the hotel policies regarding COVID-19, although our room also had some issues. The bathroom door lock did not work, items and supplies were missing from the room, and the beds were noisy and not supportive. The beds bounced up and down when someone turned over in the bed. Despite being told that at check-in that there would be coffee in the lobby in the morning, none was available. When I asked for coffee, I was told that they only make one carafe and when it runs out there is no more. I was then told their policies did not allow guests to serve themselves. Why does that only apply to guests who missed out on the first carafe? The AM front desk clerk was not friendly or apologetic about the situation. The coffee in the room was not very good and there were no packets containing creamer, etc. Usually Springhill Suites offers a nice hot breakfast, but due to COVID-19 breakfast was not being served. They only offered a sad little plastic bag containing a granola bar and an apple. There is no excuse for that, there many are ways to make a more appealing “to go” breakfast, such as more variety, more items in general, and more attractive packaging. There were no sheets or pillows in the room for the couch bed, and not enough towels for four people, so I had to request them from the front desk. The clerk was very busy and I had to wait about 30 minutes in the lobby after 11:00 pm while he gathered items in between serving other guests. Fortunately he was pleasant and apologetic, but why not keep these items in the room to avoid this issue? I felt bad for other guests who were staying longer and who also had to wait on a daily basis for clean towels to be exchanged at the front desk since there is no daily maid service, The fitness center was closed and filled with tables and chairs to keep guests out. Other hotels where we have stayed have kept their fitness rooms open, made the effort to clean more frequently, and offered cleaning supplies for guests use. I realize that travel has been affected by government restrictions, but it seems that the staff are not trying to make stays pleasant for guests at this location, and that lets me know that we should not ever return, even once normalcy returns to travel.

Recently, I spent 3 nights at his Holiday Inn in Irondale. It was my first time at this Holiday Inn, and it was a very pleasant experience. I was warmly greeted upon my arrival and check-in was quick and easy. Overall, my room was clean and very comfortable, especially the bed. They have a free self-serve breakfast area, and the food was excellent with regards to quantity and quality. I hardly ever give 5 stars as that would indicate the hotel has risen to its peak with no room for improvement which is never the case. If I were giving a numerical score this Holiday Inn would rate at 4.25. Overall, a great experience and I will definitely return to this hotel when in the area.

For what it was worth, you get what you pay for. The manager has no knowledge of the new process for virtual credit cards. The card I used to book my reservation has a virtual card number and a physical card number. I booked my stay online which obviously registered my booking with my virtual card number. After a 12 hour drive to this hotel, the manager on duty gave me a hard time about the difference in card numbers. I tried to show him the difference on my phone and he refused to accept the information I was providing him. To make matters worse, I booked a stay for 4 people and was only provided 2 towels. I went to the front desk to ask for more towels, and his response was " I do not have any towels because we are fully booked. I have one more under here." At the time was arrived which was late and a 12 hour drive, we had to go out and try to buy towels. It was just an overall horrible experience. If this is a representation of the quality of hospitality Days Inn provides, I would never book a stay at any Days Inn again.
