I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I arrived after trekking in Chilean Patagonia. I needed to rest, refresh and acclimatize. This hotel permitted me to do all three. I especially liked the location. I walked to many areas and the gondola station. There is a grocery store very close by that carries dry goods as well as food items. The restaurant serves a good breakfast. There is always hot water in the lobby for tea and fresh apples. Front desk staff are very pleasant and helpful. My room was comfortable and quiet. There is only one English channel CNN.

The store's facilities and services meet the needs of four-star hotels. The front desk speaks fluent English! This is really important because everyone in La Paz is not very likely to say... There is something to ask the front desk to help you call taxi to recommend the route you want to play. The hotel also offers spa horse killing and dry cleaning services and room service (although not tasty). The breakfast is generous enough to cater for different needs.

My room was a basic one with Spartan furnishings. 20 bucks a night is not a heap of money, and even in Bolivia it will buy you only so much. On the upside, the room went with a light but warm down blanket, a smashing view of the towering Ilimani mountain richly capped in snow, and a beautifully crafted vintage artisan lounge chair to soak this view in. Plus, a secure and fast Wi-Fi, which I found to be a great rarity in hotels these days . On the downside, there was a mattress with caved-in springs. Shower is in a fair-sized tub, the latter under the circumstances being pretty useless. More importantly, my room (H-2) was quite cold also during the day, as a multi-storeyed building an arm’s length away completely blocked out the sun. All in all, I’d say a fair deal, particularly if you ask for a sunnier room. Now, here follows the highly confusing financial part of the story. This B&B offers two main categories of rooms – some have their own ensuite WC and shower/bath, and others, shared facilities across the hall. If you care about this distinction, bring a FULL print-out of your booking IN SPANISH and PRESENT IT at check-in so that you are assigned the type of room you chose. I thought I booked a single room with ensuite WC but was told at check-in that it was not the case and in the end was installed in a room for three that resulted in a surcharge. I admit all this confusion could have been my own fault, mostly, since I was dead-tired after 24 hours on planes and did not listen carefully to the reason for and conditions of this unsolicited „upgrade“. Accepting it was, nevertheless, my own informed choice. When I later produced the print-out that I hoped would substantiate my earlier claims it didn’t leave any impression since a) it was in German and b) it turned out it didn’t actually specify whether the room referred to in it had facilities in- or outside. In a nutshell, I planned to pay USD 90,40 for four nights (tax included) and after a protracted negotiation ended up paying approximately USD 82,50 for three nights, instead of prorated USD 67,80. In hindsight, I accept it was essentially unworthy on my side bickering about pennies but all that confusion fuelled by oxygen deficit brought out the mean streak in me, for which I am sorry. But here is the cherry on the pudding: before I posted this review I got a message from Booking.com. It transpired that the B&B has reported me as a „no-show“. Beats me.

I stayed in both private room and shared dorm and I am amazed by the quality/value you're getting for your money. It's clean, comfortable, even dorm felt private (with private bathroom belonging only to that dorm and curtain next to your bed so no one can se you drooling when you're asleep). The staff was one of the nicest I ever met in South America. And I don't mean just one person, they ALL are super nice (special thanks to Ericka and Jaime). It's walking distance from the city centre (10-15mins) and the area is safe. Even teleferico is nearby (7mins, linea morada). Dont hesitate, just book it and you won't regret! TIP: Hostel offers their excursions and a lot of times they are cheaper than what you can get directly via agency.

Considering the price compared to other accommodation in La Paz, there were too many little problems here. The shower unit was broken and the shower head was at the level of my eyes. Everything is quite old fashioned which is okay, but it took 4 attempts to get the key card working. otherwise everything was good. The staff were helpful and friendly, breakfast had plenty of choice, you had the chance to use the pool and the location was good

The location is very good, the travel is more convenient, close to the blue cable station, less than seven or eight minutes walk. You can also arrange a paid pick-up via the hotel or participate in various tourist routes, and the price is clearly priced. If you need a guide in English, the cost will be much higher.

The location around the Olimpico stadium is surrounded by restaurants, pharmacies and transportation. Most travel agencies will not pick you up in this neighborhood, Miraflores, but the taxi is so cheap in this city that it does not matter. The rooms on the back will be quieter, especially when there is a soccer game in the stadium. They are noisy. The street that the hotel is, it is busy. The service is great. They take great care of the avarice of the Brazilian people, always warn you of the amounts charged and costs. The value is appropriate with the quality. Have good breakfast.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of an Intrepid tour. A seamless check in was just a taste to come here at this hotel. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and offered a view of the infamous San Pedro Prison. The facilities in the hotel were brilliant, showers were amazing, hotel was also clean and lovely. Service was amazing and friendly and when we asked for extra pillows, they came without batting an eye. Overall, Highly recommended.

Almudena was a very nice hotel for La Paz, and we stayed on the 4th floor which had amazing views over the city. Apartment was very spacious, and by and large the staff was helpful (especially the night shift guy - who was lovely). Breakfast on the first day included scrambled eggs, which was nice, but then for the rest of the stay it was not offered. Breakfast included yoghurt, breads, muesli/cereal, fresh juices and coffee. The hotel was walking distance to the Yellow Teleferico line, which was pretty convenient as we would walk down to the Teleferico and then get a taxi back up hill. The beds were not comfortable, and the hot water for the shower was limited. We ended up putting the duvet down and then the sheet on top, which made it slightly better. The hotel was very helpful when our friend fell ill, and had to stay an extra couple of days - and they charged her less for the same room. The hotel was also helpful in getting taxis organised for us. Overall it was a good stay, in what appeared to be a safe neighbourhood.

The hotel is in a good location, 100 meters from the Basilica of San Francisco, about 2 streets on Witch Street, and a few hundred meters walk from the Presidential Capitol. The hotel service is very good, the front desk is very welcoming, and tea snacks are served every day. The restaurant is good for breakfast, lunch and dinner and afternoon tea are good. Basically, dining in La Paz has been chosen at the hotel. The hotel is a historical building remodeled.

The hotel is in the historical par of La Paz just a couple of blocks away from Plaza Murillo. The hotel itself is a historical gem that was used to be the house of the first President of Bolivia. The inner courtyards are great and just need renovation and more plants to make it vibrant and pleasing. The third and outdoor courtyard is amazing just it needs more outdoor seats and tables that will match the old world feel of the property. The rooms are decent and clean. The bathroom is basic but there is an abundant supply of hot water which is a must in La Paz. You can really feel that you are teleported back in colonial times while staying in Hostal Republica. I will definitely stay here again once I am back in La Paz. I just highly recommend that they renovate the restaurant and improve their breakfast selection, kitchen equipment and cutleries. I also like the reception area, it is so warm and I love history, so I like the feeling of being in it.

The staff are really friendly, speak good English and go out their way to help. Breakfast isn't exciting, but the price is the same as some 12 or 16 bed youth hostels and having own space makes a nice change. Plus the hotel is very clean and the shower is lovely and hot (give it 5 minutes to warm up mind). The area feels safe and is very close to town and the local restaurants, pubs, bars and cafes. Will be staying here next time I'm passing through la paz.

My husband and I stayed in a matrimonial suite for 3 nights in February 2020 while travelling around South America. We've never stayed in a hostel before and were, to be quite honest, a bit worried. However, Loki Boutique turned out to be excellent and better than many of the hotels we stayed in during our South America holiday. Our suite was massive with an entry hall/living room, a bedroom with desk, as well as a tiny bathroom with toilet and shower, which had excellent pressure. Everything felt clean, fresh and tidy. Staff throughout, from pre-arrival communication to reception and the restaurant, were all extremely friendly. Service in the restaurant, where we ended up eating all of our dinners, was quick and efficient. The food was very tasty and good value. I loved the extensive breakfast menu and the fact that you could enjoy breakfast until 1 pm :) ! Wifi was good and check-out time was an extremely generous 1 pm. Room contained two complimentary bottles of water as well as a fridge which you could fill. We booked private airport transfers to and from Loki Boutique via the hostel without problems. However, the car that picked us up from the airport was tiny (we were travelling with two large suitcases and two cabin-sized suitcases), so specify that you need a larger car if you're travelling with more than a handbag... On the negative side, the door lock to the suite was extremely flimsy. There was no fan/extractor in the bathroom, which made it feel and smell quite damp. There is a glass window above the door, which allowed anyone on the 2nd floor to see directly into our living room. Also, did not detect a fire alarm in the room. Finally, sound isolation is an issue. The building has been beautifully restored, but no money has been put into sound isolation. In conclusion, an excellent stay in a beautiful building with friendly service and superb value.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel, before and after a trip to Uyuni. Check-in was quickly expedited by the friendly staff. We got a room on ground floor at the inside courtyard. There were not windows in the room but it didn't bother us a bit, and it was quiet as well. Good bed and nice shower in the bathroom. The breakfast is taken in the small cafeteria next to the entrance, and is average. Location is very good, right next to San Francisco cathedral, and walking distance to lots of bars and restaurants. The neighbourhood felt quite safe as well. We left a bag of laundry after night 1, to be collected upon our return. Everything was there, clean, cheap as well.

We were just transiting La Paz but our flight got cancelled due to the political issues of Bolivia. The staff at Qhini Hotel were unbelievably helpful and friendly, one man spoke perfect English and emailed us directions to the hotel in Spanish to give to the taxi. On our arrival we were given good restaurant recommendations and the very kind and patient lady behind the desk took care of all our laundry and even ordered us pizza and wine delivered to our room! The hotel is located to the south of the city and in a quiet area but only a 5 minute walk to the cable car (although it is up a steep hill), which is an amazing way to get around, and via the cable car about 15-20 minutes into the city. The hotel itself is bright and modern, simply but tastefully decorated. Western bathrooms with hot water and comfortable beds. Lovely garden. Breakfast was simple but adequate, fruit cereal, toast, cheese, cold meat, eggs, juice and coffee/ tea. The staff also organized our transport back to the airport. If we ever find ourselves back in La Paz, we will definitely be booking into the Qhini hotel again. I can’t recommend it enough.

During my recent trip to Bolivia, I was fortunate to spend several nights at the Hotel Mitru Sur. If it were possible, I would give the hotel 10 stars! Let me begin with the customer service. There is simply nothing like it! Paola, the manager, and front desk staff, to include Ignacio and Caesar, took care of our every need, from arranging transportation, helping us with banking issues, suggesting places to see, and even taking care of our friend when we had to leave her in La Paz for 3 days because she was too sick to travel with us. The hotel is absolutely lovely and situated in a great location within the city! I loved the contemporary architecture and the interior decorating. Very unique. The guest rooms are very nice, and include a refrigerator and safe for your valuables. The bathroom has heated floors and towel rack and an enormous rain shower head. The upstairs bar has a wonderful view of the city. The pool and spa area is very luxurious and a welcome treat. The restaurant serves a delicious breakfast buffet and we ate many dinners there due to the service, qualify of food and convenience. If someday I return to La Paz, I will definitely stay at the Hotel Mitru Sur again! It's absolutely fantastic!

I don't usually write bad reviews, and I don't want to either, so I am just going to try and be as honest as I can. Things did not go well for me even before I started. I contacted the hotel weeks before to arrange their hotel shuttle service. I got no reply. I contacted them again days before and got a reply adkinh when I would arrive. I told them at 4am. Despite trying to contact several more times I never got a reply as to if the shuttle service would be there. It was not. When I got to the hotel it wad completely locked up and I had to wait for someone to let me in. My room, and most of the rooms don't have views - well they do but only of the street across the road. My room was freezing and te window had been left open. The bed was comfy though and there was lots of blankets. You can help yourself to as much mate de coco as you want to help yourself adjust to the altitude. My shower was hot and good but the amount of hairs stuck in the plug hole nearly made me sick. The breakfast was passable and without a doubt the best thing about the whole hotel was the restaurant on the 8th floor. The views are outstanding. The location is also good. It is for that, and the staff, who were friendly, that I give 3 stars.

Travelling as part of a group of 13 on a school expedition in July/August 2018, we stayed at the Milenio hostel for our first 4 days in La Paz whilst we acclimatised and explored. It is hard to find a fault with this hostel as they were so welcoming and made us feel at home, despite being a large group of whom only spoke very little Spanish. The hostel provided breakfast every morning at a time that best suited us, (within reason) and never failed to impress us with juices, toasties and more that made us feel like we were back in England. Furthermore, when we were booking hostels for later on in the trip, particular hostels spoke no English which made it extremely difficult to book over the phone. Silvia, an owner of the hostel, was more than happy to help us with the Spanish translation and helped us book a particular hostel by speaking on the phone for us which was extremely helpful and most probably wouldn’t have been able to do so otherwise. Additionally, the hostel was always cosy with a fire lit and we were often given blankets to use in the lounge area which was a nice touch. When we left the hostel to go onto our trek phase of the expedition, unfortunately weather and altitude sickness meant that we could not complete the trek and Milenio, despite not having enough room to take us back, were so helpful. They managed to fit us into less rooms and move mattresses so that we could stay which was amazing, considering the late notice. The WiFi connection is okay but is dependent on what part of the hostel you are in. The beds are very comfortable as well as the bathrooms being very clean and hygienic. Overall, I would highly recommend this hostel due to great hospitality and a fantastic location, only a short walk from central La Paz.

I arrived at 04:30 and the hotel was locked and gated. It looked like a storefront that was closed. Luckily I had pre-arranged a car service from the airport and my driver located a doorbell off to the right side (that didn’t have any signage-and the clerk came out right away). As a solo female traveler I would have felt panicky if I had been dropped off on the street with no one to help me at this location. I was part of an IntrepidTravel group and this hotel had been selected for us. When I got up to my room on the 3rd floor, the motion detector lights went off as I was still trying to unlock my door. The arrival process spooked me. There is no sound proofing and there is a lot of street noise 24/7. I could hear conversations of people walking by on the street from the 3rd floor. At night I could hear another guest unlocking their door and it sounded like they were at my door though they were not. The room across the hall was vacant during my stay and the door was left wide open with the lights on the whole time. My room was small but clean and the bed was comfortable. Shower and WiFi were good. The restaurant upstairs is attractive and has an amazing city view. I ordered a quesadilla and soup-both of which were very good. My favorite part about this stay was that the hotel has a water cooler in the lobby which is free for guests to use to fill up their water bottles. Overall, I was unable to shake the feelings of low grade creepiness throughout my 24h ish hour stay and would not stay again.
