For the most part, this is a lovely hotel. It cost us around £7 for a taxi into Chester and the rooms are clean. The majority of staff are incredibly friendly. However, while out during the day our keys were deactivated to force us to the reception so that the manager could corner me about where my car was parked - which had been mentioned to another member of staff during check in and they had said it wasn't a problem. She had been trying to call me on the hotel room phone ”all day”, which is a ridiculous approach as who sits in their room all day? If she had just called me on my mobile number, which was used to book the room, I would have happily come back and moved the car. She demanded I move it in that moment and I explained that I'd had a drink but I'd move it in the morning. She then said she would move my car, which I wasn't comfortable with. She then walked away from me and wouldn't allow a rational, adult conversation. The tone and attitude were accusatory and her frustration clearly misdirected when she has made no realistic efforts to contact me; we were in the hotel until 11am and, as I said, I had my phone with me all day. I tried to explain to the reception staff why my car was where it was, and that I had discussed it on a rival and was dismissed with a ”well I wasn't there so I wouldn't know” then she smirked at another guest. It's such a shame that has really put a dampner on the stay for us, as it was totally unnecessary.

The majestic hills of North Wales or the buzz and bustle of Chester - at Premier Inn Hotel Chester Central (South East) you can have both. We're the gateway to Snowdonia but we're also perfectly situated for some great retail therapy, and there's plenty to entertain the whole family. Climb up to a cairn at the top of Snowdon. Place your bets at Chester races. Stroll around Chester's Roman walls, or see the lions roar at the city zoo. Then it's back to our place for great food in our Brewers Fayre restaurant, and a lovely comfy bed.

Checking in at the main Oddfellows hotel was smooth but it would have helped to have the exact address of the apartment in advance, so we could park more easily. There is one parking space at the apartment but it is a tight entrance! Apartment 5 was upstairs and very spacious. The lounge/kitchen/diner was well set up and the tea and coffee available was very welcome. Bedrooms and bathrooms were large, comfy and clean (but could do with a few hooks for towels or coats). There is even a laundry room. Decof is quirky and the location is great - just off the main streets. Fabulous place to stay.

We got this on a deal so it was reduced slightly from £246 to £232.70 (two people in separate rooms for three nights), but even the full price would have been great value. Spacious, really comfortable beds, great range of TV channels, great location. Pretty much everything you could ask for. The only minor issue is that my mother's room got too warm at night. But in fairness, a fan was provided and she used this to help cool it down before going to bed.

What a great place to visit Chester from. We got in early to guarantee a good on-site parking place, and were then met by the most pleasant receptionist. The room (a Smart Studio) was delightful, spacious, clean and modern. The bathroom was excellent and we were very pleased to see and use the walk-in shower. The bed was very comfortable, too. The excellent location meant that we walked into the city centre within 5 minutes, but we were far enough away not to be disturbed by late night revellers from the pubs and clubs. Although we were initially concerned at hearing the hourly bell chimes from the racecourse, we needn't have worried, they end at 11pm. The 'quick grab' breakfast suited us fine, not being great fans of the 'full english' breakfast anyway. With so many good eating places within easy reach there was no need to use the excellent cooking facilities. Overall, we couldn't recommend it highly enough. Just what we wanted and at a great price.

A cost-effective hotel, a long time, older equipment, the need for skills to close the window. The heating is very good and very comfortable. The bed is big enough to let me roll and sleep. Breakfast is a typical English breakfast, although it is not comparable to the domestic, it is very rich in the UK. The only problem is the deposited food, deposited on Friday, we said to take it on Sunday night (more than two days), they threw it... a big bag of delicious... I don’t know what to follow

My husband & I stayed at this hotel in Chester on 6-7th Sept. We were originally supposed to stay 4th-6th but due to car problems at home, we'd had to phone on the morning of each of the first 2 days to cancel the first 2 nights. We finally arrived on the afternoon of 6th for what was supposed to be the last night of our original booking. Check-in was friendly & efficient, & even though we'd arrived earlier than the official check-in time, we were immediately checked in with no problems. Even better, when paying we were most pleasantly surprised to find that hadn't been charged for the previous 2 nights that we'd had to cancel....no quibble, no arguments, no question! (I'd naturally assumed that we'd lost that money, which was a couple of 100 quid, especially as we'd only cancelled the morning of the same day we were supposed to arrive, ie less than 24hrs notice!). So we decided to stay an extra night with the saved £££. Our room was nicely decorated, clean, tea & coffee facilities, comfy bed etc. When we left to go exploring, Reception rang my mobile to say there had unfortunately been a mix up with the room, & someone else had actually already reserved & checked into it before us (the Receptionist that had checked him in was a trainee, & had forgotten!). Many apologies on their part, & asked if we minded changing rooms....no problem I said, sh*t happens. Anyway, they moved our belongings for us & informed us that as compensation, we would be upgraded to a suite! Well! It was lovely (Room 220), had a separate sitting room with TV & sofa, bedroom had a mahoosive bed (which was so so comfy), bathrobes & slippers provided, TV also in bedroom, Elemis toiletries. V tastefully decorated, & at the back of the hotel so no street noise. The building itself was apparently built as a hotel sometime in the 1600s so is very old & quaint, it's a beautiful building. The staff are excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast let it down slightly (tho the staff worked very hard & again, were polite & nothing was too much trouble), but there were items missing from the full English (namely beans & black pud), & the continential option was a little limited (eg only orange juice offered, eg no apple or cranberry, no milk options, limited cereals, no jams). You also have to reserve your breakfast time the night before. It's also worth noting that this hotel doesn't do evening meals, though there is a bar & I believe they do do afternoon teas. Tho this is not a problem as there are many restaurants close by. Water fountains are available in the corridors, & a jug provided in your room for you to fill up...much better than plastic bottles of water, it's a great idea. Special shout out to Stephie on Reception, she is a credit to the hotel...helpful, friendly, efficient & professsional with every interaction, she really made a difference to our whole stay. Hotel is a stone's throw from the famous Chester clock, & it couldn't be more central, ver

Booked one night in an “Enviable Double Room” for myself, mum and 7 year old. The room was huge, with a free standing bath tub which was a nice touch! Nice view from the room and plenty of space. The bed was stated as a double but it was huge! And also very comfortable. All staff were really friendly and professional at check in and check out. Do not stay here! Save your money and go to a else where.. Reading some positive reviews I actually feel these people are family and friends lying to boost ratings because I tell you now it’s lies. So il just break it down No lifts to support with cases and prams Short staffed had the same people running from the bar to the front desk Bedroom is very dated, dirty carpet, ripped wallpaper, worn out sofa beds. The room stank of musk and damp. Walls are thin you can hear everyone walking around and banging doors. Between 3 and 4am we heard a truck outside, metal trollies being dragged and clanking about for around an hour (we guessed it was a delivery) again we have a 10 month baby, that racket did not help in anyway! It is freezing during the evening, we put the dated heating system they have on this did not help at all. When we turned it off what I can only describe as the fire alarm sounded, this put us a damper on the night some more. (When speaking to staff the next day we were told it was in fact someone in another room setting off the fire alarm elsewhere in the hotel) Bathroom is disgusting, nail sticking out on the door so make sure you use the handle not a palm push, sink flooded when used, when toilet was flushed water poured onto the floor and into the bin, no room for your personal toiletries and a make up bag, no hair dryer in the room. No door handle tags to tell staff to leave going into the room while you are out, we got back and noticed because the bins had been emptied (they were no where near full) The main reason we chose this hotel was the pool. When we asked about the facility we were just simply told how to get to the room by the desk staff. Upon reaching the area down the dark corridors we noticed there was no one monitoring the pool and gym area (put us off as we have a 10th month old) god forbid anyone needed any help. Wifi is shocking and phone connection is none existent on o2 Thank god we didn’t book any food here because god know what we would have been served based on the cleanliness of the Hotel. My husband did give the manager/owner an ear full before leaving and disclosed all the points I have made. His response, ‘we are currently working on upgrading the hotel (work harder) and will give you a discount on your next stay’.. he was told he couldn’t pay us to come back! My favourite part of my stay was leaving. All in all the place needs a revamp and a good clean.

Location is adjaent to race course and just 5 minutes walk to everything Chester has to offer. Good parking facilities. Check in was very easy after 2pm. We had a room on 3rd floor which was very clean and warm. There was traffic noise from outside but that is to be expected. Tea/coffee making facilities in room. No iron but we had our own with us. My partner had booked Hotel Indigo as a surprise for my 50th birthday. We arrived on the Friday eve to a warm welcome. Our room followed a race course theme and was tastefully decorated. We dined out on the first eve, exploring the city of Chester but decided to reserve a table on the second night. My sons and their partners joined us on the second night (again a surprise that was well kept)! And we had the most amazing evening of fabulous food. The family sampled the steaks as I enjoyed the chicken and the staff couldn’t do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. Thanks to a very special waitress - who recommended a wedding venue to us too as my partner had proposed earlier in the week on my actual birthday and so it was a double celebration. Our experience of breakfast on both mornings was friendly and staff really wanted to make sure we were well looked after. Hotel Indigo manages to find the balance between relaxed attentiveness and fantastic service in a beautiful setting. Thank you.

The hotel location was amazing, 2 minutes walk from the station, about 5 minutes to the city.Every other day we requested to have our room cleaned but all they did was change the towels and filled up the coffee bar. Never cleaned the bathroom or changed the beddings. The room was located on the 3th floor where was not lift from the 2nd floor. We had to deal with the cigarette smells coming from the room next to ours. Kept on complaining about but no changes. The breakfast and dinner was good, staff was very friendly and always welcoming you with a smile.

We parked in the Grosvenor shopping centre (£10 for 24hrs) walked through the mall to the hotel. Modern, fresh design reception and nicely decorated bar and restaurant. Quick check in, clean room, comfortable beds. Waitress Lelde was spot on and gave excellent service. Limited menu with our Secret Escape deal but adequate for the price we paid. Room a little hot/stuffy as we couldn't open the window, but it did have AC we could have probably played around with. Breakfast had a hot buffet and a selection of cereal and bagels, bread and pastries. Small little containers of over night oats and fresh cut fruit containers were really nice. Drinks machines dispenses the usual latte etc or another had fresh juices. I didn't see any decafe options though. Hotel was spot on, although Chester high street has gone down hill. Lots of boarded up shops. The shops remaining are jewellery shops, cafes or a few clothes shop. Shame there lacks the independent original shops that tourist love to look around for something different. Would recommend if we had to visit the city again and I'm quite a fussy traveller!

We have had a lovely stay, and it would only take a few tweaks to make this hotel better. Good: *It's in the perfect location, we took an uber into the centre of Chester for less than £5. *Breakfast was relaxed with a great selection as a buffet service. *Spacious room with all the amenities you need. *Plenty of free parking. *Beautiful grounds and really quiet at night. *Great value for money Needs Improving: *Cleaning standard is average, black mold around the taps in the bathroom that could be easily resolved. *Bathroom floor was desperate for a good mop *Bed wasn't the comfiest as 2 twins fastened together leaving a gap in the middle. *Staffing levels affecting customer service levels, we decided to order room service, took an age to answer the phone and then said could be collected from reception, kind of goes against the point of room service, so we left it, not great for the hotels add on sales if that happens everytime. *No enough bar staff, we ordered food but it was cold and one meal was not what we ordered but too hungry to wait for it to be replaced, apparently fish finger sandwich is identical to fish and chips anyway according to the waitress! Like I said it won't take much for this hotel to raise it's customer service standards to an excellent level, more staff will fix most of the issues, despite everything mentioned we would probably stay again.
