David and Helen are terrific hosts! We do not normally stay at B&Bs as they can be claustrophobic, but this couple make this place a go-to destination. It is super clean, super tidy and has everything you need. It included a continental breakfast with fresh fruit (berries, not just the typical bananas and apples) and had 24hr access to coffee making and snacks. They ask that shoes be removed upon entry, which WE LOVED as it means you can have a higher trust in the cleanliness of the place. The room was large and the bathroom spotless, well equipped and sizable. It is centrally located to everything...there is a popular bar/restaurant 50 yards away, the Harbour Hippo and Peake's Wharf are 10min slow walk down the street, yet they have private parking behind their building. I could not recommend this more highly. And yes, they have brand new air conditioning installed!

Ben and the team at Fairholm Inn provided us excellent customer service when we were planning our stay in January for the month of April and May. Ben took the time to find the most suitable arrangements within their property that matched our needs and price points. He was quick, thorough and professional with his communication. We were really looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately with COVID we had to cancel. The Inn was gracious to support us to cancel the booking. Once things clear and we are able to make it to Charlottetown we’d be very happy to re-book with them. Their professionalism and attention to their customers needs is apparent; I’d definitely recommend them to friends and family.

We are on vacation from California. We booked two nights here and love it. The service is excellent from the minute we arrived. The room is clean and large and the bed is comfortable. It’s a gorgeous old house from the 1800s & beautifully appointed. It’s close to the downtown area but removed enough so we didn’t hear traffic or noise. They prepare a full breakfast and it is delicious! Plus they cater to any dietary needs. Recommended!

We recently booked with the Inn on the Hill for their Girls Night Wine package. From start to finish the experience was excellent. Since my last stay this property the hotel has undergone updates including modernizing the lobby and restaurant to a classy- elegant feel! Upon check in the agent was friendly and helpful as our room was ready and she allowed us to arrive early:) We were four to a room with lots of space and found the beds were very comfortable. We ordered apps/supper from the restaurant which was delicious and then ate from the restaurant again before checking out in the morning. Our watiress was friendly and attentive and breakfast was tasty and filling ( great sized potions and the added bonus was it was included with our package!) All 8 of us enjoyed our stay so much so we are already planning another Girls Night at the Inn!

Booked this hotel as a last minute ‘add-on’ to our Maritime holiday and were so glad we did. Service with a smile from Jenna at the front desk greeted us on arrival. She was so kind and courteous, and helped with restaurant recommendations. When booking the system asked if there was a special occasion, which there was, and we were so pleasantly surprised to see a bottle of bubbly along with some local treats waiting for us in our room. Not only was this far ahead of any Hotel chain, but there was also a sweet card congratulating us. For this alone we would stay again, but the accommodations were yet another plus. Very comfortable family suite, a happy hour from 5-6 (shout out to Jason, the friendly bartender), free coffee/tea and treats plus a very plentiful complimentary breakfast. I highly recommend this place to anyone travelling alone or with family.

My SO and I spent two lovely nights in one of the suites here at the inn. We both live somewhat close by, but wanted to have a mini-vacation while in the throes of school. This place was recommended to me by my parents, who come here when they need a break from work and care taking. The first thing I noticed was that the room was immaculately clean. I've worked as a housekeeper before, and I was astounded, I couldn't find any dust, a single smear on a window. The bed was soft and very easy to sleep in; from the bed, we had a view of the church from across the street. We had some issues with the television, but the staff tended to the problem immediately, and it was fixed quickly. We had a suite, so the room also had a fireplace and a double Jacuzzi (also amazingly clean, and they are difficult to get 100% spotless). The Jacuzzi was immensely relaxing- definitely the highlight of the room, in my opinion. Water pressure from the sinks were a little low, but not enough to be too disruptive. We had taken one of the packages, so we got a 50$ gift certificate to their dining room per night. We were staying during Islander Day, and the dining room wasn't set to be open that day (we weren't notified in advance, only when checking in), so we decided to splurge for food. I enjoyed some delicious salmon and gnocchi, while my SO got the steak- the best steak he's had in years. All the vegetables were perfect, and the beet puree on the plate was one of my favourite parts of the meal. The dessert was fiercely tempting and we caved, and each got a dessert, both of which were immensely delicious. The waiter (and food) was prompt, and the waiter was always smiling. The breakfast was a bit of a letdown, but that was mostly in our own heads. The package on the website said a deluxe continental, but my parents (who had this exact package a few weeks ago) had said their breakfast was full-service, and my SO was looking forward to eggs benedict. Again, the website did say it was a continental breakfast, so overall I'm not upset- it's an internal upset, not the fault of the Dundee Arms. Their continental breakfast consisted of a fruit salad (which was very fresh and delicious), some baked goods, toast, cold cereals, yogurt, and eggs that could be soft or hard boiled. It may have been nice for there to be some breakfast meats available. All my complaints are very small and did not whatsoever tarnish my experience, which was wondrously relaxing, just what I was looking for.

My wife and I planned a visit to the beautiful province of Prince Edward Island (PEI). Our initial stop was Charlottetown. Having visited almost every province in Canada, PEI was our last. And, as they say, we saved the best for last. And what a great decision that was! We thoroughly researched PEI prior to our adventurous departure. With so many places to stay, we chose a heritage B&B, Fitzroy Hall (a must-place to stay when in Charlottetown). May we also stress on the need to make reservations much in advance. Fitzroy Hall is a very popular B&B. It is very busy during the peak seasons. Please do not expect to just walk in. We’re sure, as the owners feel the same, that they would not want you to be disappointed. As with all our reviews, we rate Hotels/Inns/B&Bs and any other accommodation in an “out of ten” grading system. We do not rate any establishment unfairly: If anything is found amiss, we try to have it resolved with the management at that time. And, 99% of the time, it’s resolved to our satisfaction. The other 1% is held back in case the issue was not fully resolved and there is still a need to further call/telephone for an explanation. Again, in fairness to these establishments and their respected management, it will not be reflected in this review. So, here we go B&B Location/Surroundings: Customer Service: 10/10 – This is a B&B. There is no front desk to contend with. The front entrance is locked for security purposes. After ringing the doorbell, we were cordially greeted with a friendly smile by owner Helen Doucette (husband Reg). After a quick review of the entry and the beautiful home, we were taken to our room, The Georgina Coles Brown. Each room in this stately home is named, not numbered. Small tidbit: Georgina Cole was the daughter of the honourable George Cole, one of the Confederation founding Fathers. She married Alexander Brown - hence her name. You’ll find such an history in all the rooms. Room and Amenities Explanation: 9/10 – The décor in our room is “delightfully” grand. Elegant and soothing, paintings and pictures are placed strategically on the walls to give you a calming and relaxing effect. The floors are not covered in carpeting, but have period pine planking. There is a window mounted air conditioner which, by the way came in handy during our visit. There is a bathroom in the room and it is well equipped – both shower and bathtub. Towels fully stocked. There are common balconies where you can relax with your wine. They have a coffee maker and kettle for tea in the common kitchenette. There are plenty of amenities. Room Condition: 10/10 – We found everything clean and ready to welcome us. Although a bit dark, there is a window that allows in sunlight. Again, because of the crazy hot summer weather, it was wise to keep the blinds down. The rooms are made and kept by their wonderful staff. We were pleased to provide them with a much deserved gratuity! Breakfast: 10/10 – We found the breakfasts provid

I am not a big fan of B&Bs but i am SO happy we stayed here. The inn was so nice. It was clean, spacious and in a perfect location. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and prepared a wonderful breakfast every day. There was something for everyone so you won't be hungry. Our room had a king sized bed and enough room for all of our "stuff". Our bathroom was also a perfect size. Everything was so clean. The location was about 4 blocks from the downtown yet far enough away that it was very quiet. Across the street was the harbor. It had restaurants and shops and most importantly - ice cream. If i were to return to PEI - i would make sure i could stay here.

Last minute trip to Charlottetown for a family funeral. Our two night stay coincided with a hockey tournament weekend so we expected typical tournament exuberance. Although there were many families with young children, our room was very quiet. It was a comfortable stay and the property appears to be fairly new. Everything, including the bustling breakfast area was very clean. Staff were lovely and keen to offer any assistance. We requested a late check out so we could change following the funeral and staff were happy to accommodate. I have no hesitation recommending this property.

Of course, domestic bookings are a little expensive, and local reservations will be 25% off, so don't believe you can call and try.

The Hampton Inn Charlottetown was our base for 3 nights as my boyfriend and I explored the Charlottetown area and the rest of the beautiful province of PEI. We were generally happy with our stay, but there were a few issues that somewhat tainted the experience. First, let me begin with the good: The hotel is very modern and clean. The room was spotless upon entry and was well-appointed with a king-sized bed, a walk-in shower, and plenty of electrical outlets/ charging stations. Very comfortable with a great aesthetic! The not-so-good: I got in the shower around 9 am on both Saturday and Sunday and was surprised by not having hot water. It’s wasn’t freezing, so I managed, but lukewarm showers on vacation are a bit disappointing. I’m surprised that this is an issue in a virtually brand-new hotel. Breakfast is only served until 9, including on the weekend, which seems pretty early when on vacation mode. That’s not a huge complaint, though, as we could have made a point to go if it were one of the reasons for choosing this property, but it wasn’t a big deal for us to miss breakfast. The sound proofing in the hotel was pretty awful. The doors slam shut behind you and we could hear the 4-5 doors in the vicinity of our room every time they closed. If people were talking in the hallway, we could hear just about every word they were saying from our bed. This might not have been super off-putting, but the hotel was hosting a few minor sports teams, with dozens of kids between 8-12 years old staying with their families. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a teacher and I adore kids, but they were excessively loud, and there were unaccompanied kids in hallways, elevators and other areas all of the time. I know as well as anyone that it’s hard to keep a large group of children entertained, but when they’re running the halls on their own, shouting to each other, or playing with mini hockey sticks in hallways (and I mean a full out games with teams and nets) and playing video games on the business computers morning to night, even at 11:30 pm, management should likely step-in and set some limitations. Not the fault of the hotel that there were teams, and I’ve travelled with many sports teams myself, but I was somewhat disappointed with the hotel’s lack of expectations regarding hotel behaviour. Overall, I’d probably stay again when visiting Charlottetown, but this particular stay left a bit to be desired.

My kids and I stayed in a one bedroom cottage the first week of July for hockey school. Price was right and it was exactly what we needed. The first three days we used the heat and the last four we needed the A/C and had no issues with either. Beds were super cozy and clean. The wifi on the other hand was non existent, although advertised. It was close proximity to everything and everyday the garbage was taken out and fresh towels were placed in our cottage. very nice lady at check in and when she told us to return, we took it literally. we booked another weekend in Aug.
