We chose one of the larger rooms with a balcony. The room was very clean, and cleaned daily. My hiuband does not eat breakfast and preferred a lie in but was not disturbed by the cleaners. They loaned me an iron. Fridge contents were gratis. Breakfast was continental. They did not have many gluten free options but did their best to accomodate me. Location was not sea front but you could walk to where ever you need to be. All staff were friendly and helfpful.

Great hotel, only 10 min walk to the old town. Great facilities. Was a bit concerned when we arrived that we were on the third floor without a lift but was not an issue as they offered to bring our bags up. Parking was a little hard but again they helped us find a car park. Hotel was very clean and had a balcony. Breakfast included was great. Would definitely recommend to anyone!!

Stayed here 7 nights in an upgraded 6th floor room with fantastic views across the harbour and old town. On arrival room cleanliness was very poor however it was dealt with quickly and efficiently by staff. The room was spacious, comfy bed, safe, decent wardrobe, quiet though toiletries and drinks tray were pretty basic, no tissues and only powdered milk. Staff were friendly professional and helpful. Breakfast was adequate but basic, but more than compensated by the view from the 9th floor breakfast room. Location is excellent. For starters the airport bus stops 100m away and the harbour, old town, shops and dozens of reasonably priced restaurants are a 5 min walk. Restaurants we liked were,Nautilus Ristorante and Marcopolo. Beware the cobbled streets, flip flops not recommended. Beware also of the many boat trips to the caves, it’s 32e per couple and the 40 min boat trip is very pleasant. What is not made clear is that on arrival you are done for a further 26e to gain entry to the caves!! Alghero is lovely and we stayed 7 days and enjoyed it but 4 or 5 days may be enough for many. Would we stay at Hotel Catalunya again? Probably on balance yes, great location, nice people, spacious room, quiet, wonderful views, breakfast average for a 4star hotel but overall we had a very pleasant stay.

My love and I decided one day earlier to make a stop in Alghero! We find it the cutest, most beautiful and vibrant city of whole Sardinia. We ate very good as everywhere but first time we rounded off the evening by some good cocktails right at the waterfront. The Hotel Angedras is very well located! You can reach the city by foot on a nice walk at the seafront in a couple minuts. The room was very clean, big and quiet. Unfortunately we didn‘t get to try the breakfast. There were so many people and obviously not enough stuff to make it possible to get a coffee in a appropriate time. We understand that COVID 19 is making it difficult but we still think that could have been solved better. The reception was kind and all in all Angedras is a good adress and last but not least excellent value for money!

This hotel should be classified as a 4 star hotel I I know other people have said this before and others have been derogatory about this hotel but I have stayed in 4 or 5 stars in different countries most of my life, and believe me this hotel's service is fantastic. I wrote to them prior to my arrival that as I was arriving late could they please a cold plate for us in the room.,Upon our arrival very late at night we went to our room to find a plate of salami , ham and chicken with Sardinia'n fish balls also a plate of freshly baked green chillies baby onions and olives, a plate of fresh bread a large bowl of salad and a bowl of fresh fruit. The breakfast always had a good variety of different foods enough to satisfy even the most picky of people Everyday there were fresh towels in the bathroom and our room with sea view was cleaned.Everyday I booked a restaurant which they phoned and booked for me . The pool was cold but very clean and there was always enough beds by the pool . The service was excellent and even after getting back to the UK they wrote and thanked us for staying there. I suggest that tripadvisor updates its star system and does not include ratings for 5 years or more years ago as both hotel and town have never been better. For restaurants I will write my approval of later because there are some really great ones

My boyfriend and I booked a last minute holiday to Punta Negra as soon as the UK coronavirus travel restrictions lifted. We’ve been here for a week and are leaving (very reluctantly) having had a restful and incredibly enjoyable stay. On arrival, we were thrilled to realise that they upgraded us to a sea view room (at no extra charge). This gave us incredible views across the beautiful turquoise bay, with the terracotta rooftops of Alghero in the far distance. The room itself is spacious and spotlessly clean - as is the rest of the hotel. The housekeeping and grounds staff do a fantastic job at keeping all the rooms, grounds and communal areas immaculate. The bed is harder than we’re used to and unfortunately the duvet and pillow are both synthetic. I asked for a feather pillow, but my request was lost in translation. We had a couple of other tiny issues with the room (a leaky shower head and a lack of pillows), both of which were fixed immediately. The maintenance man attended as soon as we raised the issue, which was fantastic! Another slight problem with the room (which they were unable to fix) is there are no plug sockets. To charge our phones, we had to use the socket ordinarily saved for the TV, which was high up on a wall (luckily my boyfriend is tall!). Aside from this, the bed is a good size, the bathroom is well equipped, the water pressure for the shower is good (although we struggled to get steaming hot water). We really liked that they use natural loo paper, from recycled drinks cartons. The toiletries are basic (one product for all uses, as opposed to separate shampoo & conditioner and body wash, etc.). The staff refresh the towels every day and the bathroom and bedroom are always impeccably cleaned. The hotel’s facilities are good. Both pools are salt water, which we love, as we try to avoid chlorine. One has an incredible view over the bay. The other is nestled between the cicada filled forests and the hotel itself. There’s an abundance of beach towels, which are freshly laundered every day. There are lots of places to sit and read a book (even a secret forest walk with a little clearing, where you can hide away from the world). The hotel offers a number of services, including cycle hire and in-room massages. The reception staff are super helpful and are on hand to help arrange a number of amazing local excursions. We went Horseriding along a sandy beach (a few kilometres north of the hotel), which was incredible! We have mixed reviews about the hotel’s beach - the photos we saw online were of a beautiful white sandy beach with glittering, clear waters. The beach we experienced was not quite the perfection we expected. The reason for this is the local area has a seasonal seaweed issue, which is usually cleared away around April time each year. However, due to the coronavirus, the seasonal maintenance of the beach hadn’t happened, and the result was brownish sand and a smell of sulphur (w

Lovely hotel a block from the seafront. The pool/pool area is very clean with nice shrubs and greenery. The hotel is starting to show it's age a little which is typical of (almost) seafront properties but is very clean throughout. Stayed in a studio so can't speak for the hotel rooms. The studios are in a separate block and comprise a kitchenette, with 3 hob stove and sink, microwave and large fridge/freezer - minimal kitchenware, good size bathroom with step-in shower, bidet and toilet. Sink and vanity unit are between living area and bathroom - plenty of toiletries, sheets changed after 1 week, towels changed every 3 days and trash taken out daily. The bedroom area is quite large and opens onto a nice sized balcony. TV with lots of stations and wifi throughout. Unlike a lot of places, the AC is not over the bed which makes sleeping more pleasant. The bed however, is 2 twin mattresses pushed together which I found VERY uncomfortable. Supermarket on the corner and a number of eateries withing walking distance. Hotel was very quiet probably due to end of season and C19 restrictions causing cancellations through Sardinia. Mandatory wearing of masks indoors and plenty of hand sanitizer stations. All in all a lovely week in Alghero - hotel is a good 30 mins walk to the old town but taxis and local buses will take you there in 10 mins. Housekeeping staff very friendly as were the ladies on Reception - Alessanda and Anna are 2 employees who will go far in the hospitality industry - both very kind and knowledgeable. I would definitely return,

Spent a week in this lovely hotel set in the sardinian countryside. Firstly the staff couldn't have been friendlier, silvia and Betty on reception were exceptional with great English. The breakfast every day was great, wide selection of different types of foods each day. The room was spacious, with a lovely view over the pool. The pool was big with plenty of loungers for relaxing beside. There are 2 restaurants near the hotel both excellent and I would highly recommend. Something I would point out is that it is that little outside town so if you dont have a car, you will need taxis to get around. Overall, I couldn't recommend this hotel enough, great staff, great food and overall a great time.

Yes its more expensive than most other hotels in the town, but lets be clear you are paying for the exclusivity, the hotel occupies a peninsula all to itself behind secure gates operated by CCTV despite being just 10mins walk fom the old town. The hotel is within its own grounds, with private access to the sea in multiple directions, no sharing a beach with the masses here! Typically you will find yourself sharing the pool with less than 10 other guests throughout the day, meaning when you swim you pretty much have the pool to yourself. Its salt water which is not ideal, but the temperature was just fine mid-August, and you also have sunbeds at sea level for direct access. The breakfast is a 7 out of 10 a little below par for the price of hotel, but nothing overly wrong with it. Service is very good from ALL staff, they deliver a 5 star service and look after there guests, i think there are about 50 rooms but it feels like a dozen rooms such is the space available. Also has its own spa and plenty of secure car parking. You feel a class above when you stay here. The high price is because you are sharing the facilities with so few other guests. Worth pushing the boat out if you are here just for a couple of nights.

We had a great stay. Well appointed apartment with good a/c. It has everything you need with private outdoor seating. Our welcome was with genuine warmth and good explanation of everything we needed to know. Parking on the street was plentiful enough. Supermarket on the corner. We walked into the old town - about 20/25 mins . There are bikes available for use but probably easier not to be lumbered with them in the old precinct where there were lots of pedestrianised streets. We found this location worked for us as we are happy to have a bit of a walk rather than battle parking the car in the narrow streets.

Myself and my husband booked 3 nights in Hotel Villa Piras. From the minute we walked through the hotel to the minute we left, the staff were horrible, arrogant and obnoxious. It seemed that if you weren’t an Italian, you were a lower class citizen and not worthy of being treated with any respect. Upon arrival we were told we would’ve ‘treated’ to a welcome drink. The ‘welcome drink’ consisted of a champagne glass of diluted orange and a soft bowl of crisps. The room was extremely basic, with broken doors, two single beds pushed together and a fridge that sounded like an engine which kept us awake with its noise. There was a roof top terrace with 2 hot tubs. You couldn’t use them unless you paid 5 euro every time you used them. The water in the tubs was filthy. In addition, the plastic grass which they covered the terrace with would give you 3rd degree burns! The reception area is also outdated and the whole hotel smells of damp. The rule is you have to wear your mask, which is totally acceptable and it is the law but if you forget to put it up, the receptionists bark at you. They do not follow this rule themselves as they quickly pull it up when they hear someone coming. The manager/owner is a bully. He is a very angry little man. The hotel is out for your money as there is a charge for everything. We found this out to our horror when we were paying the bill. Upon checking out we discovered that we were charged over 40 euro because we had used 4 additional towels. 40 euro for what? We didn’t steal the towels, only used extra. Nowhere in the hotels ‘rules’ did it state that we would be charged extra for washing and drying ourselves. When we tried to dispute this, the receptionist said we had to pay or she would get the manager. She did and he roughly and gruffly told us we would have to pay or they would call the police. They did call the police and we waited over an hour for them to come. The manager kept on asking us to move away from the desk and if we didn’t he would charge us an additional nights stay as we were still in the vicinity. I became extremely upset and they simply laughed at me. They all seemed to find the whole experience very funny and seemed to enjoy causing us this upset. The police arrived and we explained the situation. The commanding officer was lovely and explained how it was. He told us we could claim the towel charges back. He was very kind. A horrible hotel with horrible staff. Please go somewhere else.

We had the pleasure of staying here for four nights and it was a delight. The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful and very accomodating to all our needs. We had a dog with us and it was absolutely no problem. She was allowed everywhere in the hotel without any issues. The staff even had a water and food bowl ready for her upon arrival. The Mediterranean breakfast was delicious and Alghero is a wonderful city and definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately we didn't realise that it is not so easy to walk to the old town from the resort as we initially thought but luckily we had a car so it was not an issue.

Overall we had a lovely stay. Great free soft drinks in the room fridge - lovely touch. The position of the hotel is lovely with spectacular views from the balconies. It's a really lovely stroll along the promenade into the old town. The hotel looks impressive from the outside and the reception has been done up nicely. The rest of the hotel is a mix between refurbished/modern and traditional italian - it feels a bit confused. The dining room although refurbished still maintains a slightly dated feel (esp with the beige tablecloths). And the bedrooms are kind of half refurbished with the original bedspread and chairs. The wardrobe doesn't allow you to hang clothes full length which is annoying. And we had a half empty gin miniature in our mini bar which the hotel said had evaporated?! Again the pool area feels like it's a 1970's lido - needs all the sunloungers replacing - only half had been done when we visited. Needs a bit of landscaping to make it feel less like a public swimming pool. Not much atmosphere around the pool. The building facing the pool needs a paint as it's a bit ugly to stare at from the sunlounger. Needs softening with plants or modern features. They also started cleaning the edge of the pool whilst we were in it! That doesn't seem very nice (surely this can be done early morning or evening?) The pool towel rules didn't feel very 5 star. In most premium hotels you are trusted with as many towels as you like! It was also a shame that lunch was only served at certain times and hard to get something outside of these times round the pool. We like to be able to have a snack mid afternoon and this wasn't really possible. Breakfast could have finished at 10.30 rather than 10 too just to make it more relaxing. I think the gym was awaiting a refurb - pretty poor and very difficult to find. Overall a lovely stay in a gorgeous position - good value for money and was very enjoyable despite our comments - just needs a few little upgrades. Feels like it's well on it's way to becoming a top notch hotel!

We stayed at the Vacanze hotel at the end of October 2019 and could not fault this hotel at all. Our stay was comfortable and we were extremely impressed with the cleanliness and amenities of the hotel considering how cheap the price was for staying. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the marina where there are lots of restaurants and shops to look around. Also great for going on the boat trip (or getting the bus) to Neptune’s Cave. The hotel is easy to get to from the airport using the €1.50 airport shuttle bus which stops on the main road and is a 2 minute walk to the hotel. We were extremely impressed with the hotel staff who were very helpful and catered to a couple of requests (for an iron and extra pillows!) Please make sure to visit the restaurant which is next door, the food was delicious (see picture), the house wine was lovely and staff again are extremely friendly. We had a wonderful week here. The place is kept spotlessly clean and seems to be completely covid compliant. Our room had a wonderful balcony and sea view. We asked for a kettle in reception, and made our own tea and coffee in the room - sitting out on the balcony in the early morning with a cuppa was just magical! Yes the furnishings are a bit old fashioned and the plumbing could do with some attention, but the location and the friendliness of the staff made up for that. Breakfast was not buffet because of the restrictions, and was very slow as the poor waitresses tried to serve everyone, and were a bit frazzeled. But we would definitely go back again.

Stayed two weeks from 14th to 28th Sept. I had read a lot of the reviews about the hotel. On arrival we were checked in very quick,we had rooms overlooking the car park, they were quiet and looking out towards some lovely countryside. The hotel is cash free which was very good, we paid after the first week and again at the end. The shop attached is cash. The pizzeria is good and take away. The staff at hotel w ere all friendly and efficient, rooms were spotless. The food was very good I have a food intolerance and diabetic (diet controlled) on a few occasions I did struggle and the chef cooked food for me that didn't have any sauces etc. On the desert front the one chef would get me desert without icing sugar on it so I cannot say anything but praise for the restaurant, also the waiting on staff were excellent. The grounds that the hotel are set are kept immaculate. The beach across the road is white sand and blue sea through pine trees. It takes about 35mins walk to Alghero but well worth the effort. Recommended this from Tui rep at travel agents. After much debate about what we wanted it was booked. The location was really nice not far from beach etc. Restaurants a good selection left or right from hotel. The hotel was really clean spacious and the staff very professional. The food was very nice quite good not really any complaints. First problem the bar was like a kiosk behind the reception. It was not frequented as there was know one there to serve. If the receptionist was on the desk there was a possibility of being served. We like somewhere to sit at our leisure to have a drink. The pool was on the roof the lift was out of order no good for me with mobility issues. The pools looked nice but it didn't suit us at all. We like to relax with a drink by the sunbeds and parasols. This was totally out of the question at the hotel. This is why we will not return too many restrictions. The best thing about this holiday beside lovely location was Robert and Olga the reps from Tui office near the hotel. They were so very helpful and gave us good advice on generally getting around. A truly lovely place to stay. The accommodation is second to none - spotlessly clean, comfortable and quiet. This is perfect location near Alghero, very quiet and easy to travel to the different sights of Sardinia. You would be missing out if you didn't take the coast road to Bosa. We did road trips most days but there are also lovely beaches nearby (my son loved Lazaretto). The food is amazing. Breakfast is great and the dinners are even better, absolutely delicious homemade food and in my opinion the best we ate in Alghero. The family are lovely hosts, very friendly and welcoming. You are made to feel at home very quickly. My 3 year old son loved practising his three words of Italian with the family and the dogs (especially Daisy and Nina who he has told everyone back home about!) This was our first family holiday abroad and we will definitely be returning - hopefully they still have some strawberries left after Owen's visit :)

Can be difficult to find from the street but the host is friendly and speaks English so on reflection, we could have given her a call before walking up and down the road! The rooms our very clean, comfortable and modern. Ours came with a hot tub and large bathroom. The rooms have Air Con, a fridge and safe. There is no iron provided in the room and at the time we stayed, the host didn’t have one available. The rooms overlook a promenade and small beach with lovely views. There’s are much nicer beaches within 15 minutes drive if you’re planning on visiting one for the day. Alghero town is beautiful, especially of an evening. Plenty of very nice bars and restaurants and the sun sets over the mountains which can be viewed from some of the bars along the front. The town is approximately a 15 minute walk from the accommodation. There is a tax of a couple of Euros per night which is paid to the host on arrival.
