Location was fantastic as it was walking distance to everything you need too see and do including shopping, Christmas markets and train station and quiet enough when it was time to sleep. The room was a good size and comfy enough although the pillows were to soft. The breakfast was great with a good selection on offer and the staff were lovely and welcoming. On our departure they gave us a Xmas gift each which included chocolates and biscuits which was a lovely touch.

This was a great find for us for many reasons: - the staff from the moment I first emailed a question until the moment we checked out were prompt, efficent, helpful, and always happy. Possibly the most courteois and helpful rexeption staff we have encountered. - impeccably clean hotel and rooms: spotless. - awesome location: 5 minutes from main train station,1 minute from trams, old town with all its shops, bars and restaurants at your doorstep. - our large 3 bes room had more than enough space for the 3 of us. - breakfast (which is includex) was beautiful and plenty of variety. - amazing cause: offering employment to women with social difficulties. Staff were excellent. For a 2 star hotel it is a definite 5 star review for value for money, courteous and helpful staff, cleanliness, location, and included breakfast. The street noise can be heard most nights, but the hotel supply earplugs, which we did not need. I don’t think you could get better in Zurich for the price.

The location is superb. It is two minutes walk from Central tram stop or a six minutes walk from the main railway station. The check in was swift and efficient. The hotel is on a fairly busy street with lots of bars and restaurants but the noise isolation is excellent. I slept like a baby and did not hear a thing from the street. The room is compact but comfortable. There is a fully stocked mini-bar (a rarity these days) and an espresso machine. They have also kept the nice little touches which are typical of Sorell hotels: The little duck in the bathroom (which you can take with you), the shoe shorn, the yoga mat, and the umbrellas in the room in case it rains. Often the bathrooms in Sorell hotels come with a bath, but this one only had a shower. The hardwood floors are nice. The breakfast room was laid out in a socially distanced manner, i.e. only a certain number of tables were laid out with cutlery and napkins. The laid tables were at least two meters away from each other. That is a clever thing to do in these times. A was a little bit worried about the buffet breakfast. You still go to the buffet and pick up what you want from their selection in the traditional manner. They have not done what many other hotels have done, i.e. pre-packed small plates of various items wrapped in cling-film. However, take a small bottle of hand disinfectant with you to the breakfast room and wipe your hands after you have touched the utensils at the buffet and you should be fine. Both the check-in and check-out were quick and professional.

If you need a place to park your bags and sleep when you are visiting Zurich, this is a good hotel to stay at. It is very close to the train station. I always take the reviews that say it is within walking distance with a grain of salt, because what someone else can easily walk, and what my husband and I who are both seniors can walk, tends to be different. But we very easily walked all four days that we were there back and forth between the hotel and the train station. And enjoyed the walk because we crossed the river each time, which was so scenic, and it gave us a little bit of time to stretch our legs after sitting on buses and trains each day. The hotel is extremely basic. But it was very clean and the beds were ok. My husband is 6'6" and he had a bit of a problem. He either hit his head on the headboard or his feet on the footboard. But most people aren't going to have that problem. If you need a Swiss electric adapter - who knew it is not the same as the German adapter that we had - they had them at the front desk and will let you borrow them with a $20 deposit (or Francs). If you need a blowdryer, which we did not, I believe you can also get that at the front desk. We bought CocaCola and asked for glasses at the front desk and were able to get them but they are not going to be in your room. The pillows in our room were horrible. That was really my only complaint. Sean was there at the front desk when we checked in over the weekend and he was so very helpful and nice. We never interacted with any other staff. Each day we left early and came back late and never really needed anything else. The bathroom has a wonderful retro vibe to it with peacocks and flowers on the times. Again, basic, but very clean. We were there the last week of October and the weather was cool. So we were comfortable without air conditioning. We opened our windows each evening when we got back to the room and let the cool air in. There was no way we could have slept with them open though. The street noise was awful. But as soon as we shut the windows and pulled the curtains closed, it was fine. We no longer heard the noise. I could not sleep there had it been any warmer though - with no air conditioning and the street noise if the windows were open, it would have been very uncomfortable.

A terrible hotel stay, because I stayed in Zurich for one night, the map is convenient to be next to the train station, but in fact not close (compared to the hotel after staying in the hotel), but also boarded the board, the environment is really dirty The room is small, living in a small attic, I think it’s terrible now. The elevator of the hotel is the original one to pull the door by itself. It is quite amazing to come to Europe for the first time... There is only one place to say the highlights. We have no breakfast, but the front desk lady said that the customers who stayed at the hotel can enjoy breakfast, which is very gratifying.

Looking for a good but not pretentious hotel in Zurich I found this Best western plus . Also thank to good reviews. Well, could not have choosed Better . Really few minutes walk from station and to the old town , so nice by the way. At reception a warm , smiling welcome at chek in . Water , a coffee and even ice cream were offered while waiting , and every day if u wanted. We had an upgrade to a top floor room , nice, large enough ,with a balcony and very practic bathroom with walk in shower. Perfect bed and pillows menù. No air conditioned , as often at this latitude in Europe , but a fan , usually enough. And complmentary minibar with coke, water and beer, refilled daily. Neverless Covid breakfast was in buffet form , mostly in sealed mono portion , of very good quality and always refilled promptly. Self service machine for hot beverages of best quality and complete egg menu' present on table .And ,most important, the kindness of all the staff , and the true smile . I felt theyr passion for what were doing , seemed happy they could do It . And compliments to general manager , always present at morning asking for ur opinion and impression. He can not be extraneus to this general , pleasant feeling. Thanks again , a perfect stay . Troletti

Good points - 1. It is within walking distance of the train station. Points of concern 1. Strange check-in procedure (although I was aware of it before arrival) 2. Shabby and unkempt communal areas in building 3. Lack of kettle and tea/coffee basics in room 4. Ridiculous high prices for room (probably a Zurich problem) I have completed a survey for the owners at their request. In it I described the accommodation as like student digs without the associated low costs. British people will understand what I mean. Luckily this was a short term stay in a convenient location so we could access an early train when leaving. I would never consider Zurich as a holiday location due to the frankly astonishing costs involved. We have far better quality Premier Inns in UK for a much more reasonable price. Why can't it be managed accordingly in Switzerland? Too greedy?

I stayed here for a bit more than a week for a business trip. - The mattress and pillows of the lowest-priced room are really poor (colleagues also mentioned it) - The lock from my door was not working three times (other guests also seemed to have this problem). I (and the other guests) had to wait for the mechanic to come to fix it what took over 30 min. The third time this lock issue happened was when I arrived in the middle of the night. The receptionist tried to open the door for half an hour, but eventually, I had to sleep in another room without any of my belongings. The next morning around 10 AM, it would be fixed. At 12.30 PM, I was able to get into my old room and get to my belongings. So at that night, I was not able to get in my room, I slept at a room one price range higher, this mattress was good. - You get a CHF 10 voucher if you skip the room cleaning for a day. I did this seven times and at the checkout, they only put on five of my bill. The day before going back to the US, I stayed at this hotel again and addressed that they forgot to include two vouchers on my previous stay bill. The hotel receptionist doing the check-in for the last day became angry on me that I didn't raise it when I paid for my first period I stayed with them. This last event triggered me to write this review. Furthermore, the breakfast is simple but good, and the diners are bad. Some staff is friendly, and some are not so friendly. Attached some pictures of the shower with molt spots.

I booked on priceline roughly 2 weeks in advance, as all the hotels I saw in an Expedia search were 200 Euros and up - mainly chose this one for the price and location, but it's been great so far. The tram stops right outside, and goes to the airport, which to my embarrassment I only found out after paying CHF 60 for a taxi from the airport to the hotel! I agree with other reviewers that the room is small, although I've stayed in smaller rooms - the desk staff were both excellent. They were friendly, spoke great English, and had a whole drawer of travel adapters for guests to borrow. Not what I expected given the budget-friendly nature of the hotel. The shower may be the smallest space I've experienced (ever) but it worked and the water pressure was strong. Be warned if you travel without shampoo and conditioner, the only shower product is the combination shampoo-body wash which I assume does a decent job of the body washing... The reception staff pointed out the mini frig in the room contained still and sparkling water but also free beer! That was a welcome addition. The location is fantastic within easy walking distance of the university, shopping, the promenade, and the train station . My room is at the back of the hotel, and looks out on a quiet courtyard area behind some mixed use office/ retail space buildings. Am guessing the rooms at the front are more exposed to street noise including the tram, but not a hugely busy street. Would stay here again for sure.

The breakfast is lovely and well appointed, the staff are helpful, and the location is great. However, the room is a real disappointment. The drapes are tissue paper thin and there are lights that stay on outside all night, so the room is never dark. There is also a constant noise of music with a deep, pulsing base that persists day and night. The room is very clean, but looks like it needs some care because of, for instance, chipped and warped paint. One curtain is also too small for the window so there is no way to actually block the view of neighboring buildings while changing.

Hotel Alexander is well located in the old town, about a 10 minute walk from the central railroad station. It was very easy to take the train from the airport to the central station. It's a very nice modern hotel with original construction in 1357. The staff was great and very helpful. The room was very nice and of modest size. There are restaurants all around. It was an easy walk to many sites. And they give you a portable wifi hotspot!

We began an 8-day schedule in Eastern Switzerland with a 1-night stay in two rooms at the Hotel Florhof. We arrived around dinner time and checked out the next morning, so it was not a long stay. As you can see in the pictures posted by others, the rooms are not huge. In fact, it seems the rooms are all a little bit different and not standardized at all. Given how small rooms are generally all over Switzerland, I think the size was within the "average" band. Overall the hotel gives a very cozy and very low key feel. I really liked the small terrace area on the second floor - very quiet. The immediate neighborhood of the hotel was quiet (all the more so since it was raining). We noticed that there is a music conservatory nearby. There were not a lot of shops nearby, but the main train station is not far away – maybe 10-15 minute walking distance so any shopping could be done there. We did have time to have our first dinner in Switzerland at the hotel restaurant. Overall the fare was a good start. My wife had the perch which was good. My son had the steak which was also good. We also ordered two of the pasta dishes. The taglierini was good but small - we ordered the starter, but it should have been offered as a main. The congchiglie was just OK. The chef took pains to place a strip of red pepper to “seal” the shells – I thought that was a bit quirky. The super sour green tomato compote tended to overpower. What stood out as a great positive about the hotel were the staff, who were super friendly and helpful – both people at reception and at the restaurant. If I am staying in Zurich longer, I might consider a larger hotel, but if you are “hopping through”, then this place might be worth a look.

The hotel was approximately 13 kilometers from the airport and a taxi ride was about 60 Franc. Check-in was easy. ROOM (#4103) The room was nice and comfortable. There was a nice big window. The only issue I had with the room was that AC. When I arrived I turned it all the way down and it never cooled off. I talked to other patrons who had the same issue. More than likely they have it setup where no matter what the hotel controls the air temperature. They also do not have in-room safes for valuables (believe they have one in lobby you can utilize), and there is no telephone, iron and ironing board. For me, the AC was the only thing preventing me from awarding 5 stars as I find it difficult to sleep in a warm room. The room had a bed with 2 little night stands, a couch, small table, desk and chair, closet with hangers and lots of shelves, some regular outlets and 4 USB outlets. BATHROOM The bathroom is setup interestingly. The same door swings one direction to close off the shower and the other direction to close off the toilet. There is also a sink and a hairdryer. The bathroom was clean and everything worked well. BREAKFAST The breakfast buffet had good variety and was above average tasty. They had hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, cheese omelet, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes with cheese, pancakes (waffles another day), breads/rolls/croissants, meats and cheeses, fish, dips, mixed fruit, and yogurt. DINNER Dinner was good. It was expensive but everything is in Zurich. My meal was 34 Franc. It was a whole grilled spring chicken (on bone), and it came with a choice of 1 side (6 options). I chose spatzli as a side which is like a German noodle dish. It was very good. I had a friend who had the skewer (lamb/chicken/beef/sausage) and chose brussels sprouts with bacon as their side and they also enjoyed their dinner (36 Franc). The salad bar (some appetizers, salad, and desserts) was also good. They had salad, pasta, some other dips/hummus and such, bread, and a couple dessert options. GYM/SPA The gym was nice and clean and had a nice variety of equipment. There were also big windows to let in natural light. They had 4 treadmills, 2 stationary bicycles, 2 ellipticals, 1 row machine, cable machine with pull-up bar, a bench, dumbbells from 2-20 kg, leg extension machine, chest press machine, pulldown machine, glutes/thigh machine, chest flye machine, ab machine, and exercise balls. The spa was amazing. You have free access to the sauna, Turkish bath (steam room), lounge area, and ice sprayers to help you cool down after sauna/steam. The place was clean. Unfortunately I did not think ahead to book a massage! OVERALL Overall the hotel was fantastic. The hotel was clean. The employees at the front desk, and restaurant, and the spa were all nice and professional. The room was neat and clean. The restaurant had good food. The spa was amazing. And as I stated before the only thing keeping me from giving 5 s

National Day Travel: Although the facility environment is full marks and the transportation is convenient, it is a bit far from the city center. Because there is a lot of luggage from Zurich Airport to the hotel, the traffic needs to be transferred 3 to 4 times to get to the hotel (although it is seamless, but it is a bit embarrassing to get in and out of the car with a large box), and then go to the city center to train the next day To Lucerne, I also need to pour traffic twice. The two people took a big box and lost a lot of mood to see the scenery, so I don't want to recommend partners who come to Zurich for transit. The bathroom of the hotel is glass, because it is an economic hotel, so there is no air conditioning. It feels a bit hot at night, so I can only open the window, which is a bit noisy. But I still couldn't help but admire the beauty I saw when I got up the next morning. The hotel's gym is free of charge. The hotel's toothbrush and toothpaste are charged (5 Swiss francs). A 15-minute walk from the hotel has McDonald's and coop. It is very satisfying to buy a large jar of milk.

Swiss hotel standards have diminished over the years as standards of service have become worse and worse. But at Baur au Lac it is family run, and it shows. The cuisine at the Terrasse is modern and fitting to the most spectacular garden that faces the lake. The garden has two most magnificent trees, one Japanese Ginko planted over a hundred years ago, and the other is just as impressive. Facing the lake the garden has an art in the park sculpture is awesome. The suite I stayed had the charm and modern luxury with a fantastic shower and bathroom area. The bed is impeccable and the overall impression is grand elegance and luxury in the centre if the city.

This hotel exudes modern luxury. A quiet, centered calm. Sophistication. No ornate nonsense, no frills, but real substance. Very much like my experience at the PH Paris. Very well-suited to business travelers versus families with kids or adventure seekers. Room decor is understated - really understated. (Curiously, no desk.) But oh, the bed! The bar was the sole source of youthful buzz and energy, filled with business people at happy hour, and a more stylish crowd later in the evening. Dined alone in the massive (quiet) restaurant and enjoyed surprisingly reasonably priced spectacular meal. Very polished, efficient service everywhere. BTW - the area has little to recommend it outside of proximity to lots of banks and office buildings; it's a 10-15 min walk to the Bahnhofstrasse shopping area.

Parking is behind the hotel but needs to be paid. One of the most seamless check in experiences ever. So fast and so efficient very well done. Rooms have all the amenities that is required even a very comfortable bed, it’s really a trade off between great location friendly staff and paying for a room that is to be honest tiny. It was a trade off that was worth as we were staying only for a night. Good social areas below to lounge and chill. Would definitely recommend. Thumps up

Nice hotel just on the outskirts of the city; it’s a short tram ride into the city (Tram 4) The hotel is relatively new, but still holds that classic Sheraton charm about it. The room we were given was spacious with the bathroom and toilet separate, and a walk-in-wardrobe behind the bed. Bedding was comfortable as were the pillows, albeit a bit too soft to provide any real neck support. Bathroom amenities were good with all the basic requirements provided - a nice deep bath and a shower with good water pressure. The only downside were the state of the towels. unfortunately they were a bit dated, thin, and frayed (literally) around the edges. Breakfast was really good; we enjoyed this. The spread, whilst relatively small is well-curated and selected. The breads on offer are fresh and delicious, along with the cheeses and meat. Considering the produce available in Switzerland, this is to be expected. Every time we went for breakfast, everything was fresh and well stocked. The hot station offerings were also your standard breakfast affair and the made-to-orders were quick and efficient. The staff, on every interaction were genuine and welcoming, and assisted wherever they could. Overall the hotel is in an up-and-coming area (presumably) with not a lot in it’s direct vicinity, all the sights of Zurich are one tram ride away. This is a great hotel to be based at for your stay and we’ll definitely book again if we return to this city
