Fantastic trip starting in Munich with a stay at the Mandarin Oriental, ideally located around the corner from Hofbrauhaus and within walking distance of the glockenspiel, shopping, Biergartens, and the train station. The view from our 7th floor room overlooked the whole city and the tile rooftops. The hotel even included a rooftop bar and was a welcome ending to long days spent walking around the city. We definitely recommend hiring a driver for a quick city tour, or using the double decker bus to see other places not accessible by foot. We visited the BMW museum, the Oktoberfest site (huge!), the Nymphenburg summer palace, and several local brew houses. We recommend the outdoor beer garden Biergarten Vikualienmarkt, near the glockenspiel, Paulaner Bräuhaus, Wirtshaus, Augustiner Brau Munchen, and Schneider Weisse, in addition to the immensely popular Hofbrauhaus. Sit next to anyone and meet someone from another country. Easy train connection to Frankfurt and plenty of day trips available via rental car or Tour bus. We chose an all day tour to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Palace with a short stop at Oberammergau. Definitely recommend this! Separate post about the tour. It is also easy to rent a car to have more wandering time at Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Harburg castle. Separate post about this day trip as well.

I arrived at the Hotel Platzl on November 1st for a business stay. It was my first trip back to Munich since 1993. The hotel is located just around the corner from the Hofbrauhaus, and a few blocks from Marienplatz. It is a perfect location from which to explore the city. The hotel’s architecture is a little bit on the dark and heavy traditional side, but it is ergonomic, ultra-clean and ultimately very attractive. I appreciated the double room, which was large, clean and very comfortable and well-equipped. The hotel is quiet: once in the rooms, it’s easy to work or sleep undisturbed. Breakfast is excellent. Well worth the added price. The hotel staff is excellent at every level: professional, but taking time to explain the city or different procedures. I felt very good being in a city that was locking down due to COVID thanks to the staff. Ultimately, I was happy to see a hotel which was proud of its traditions, which employed and trained and retained excellent staff, and which paid attention to detail at every level of its operation. I will definitely stay again.

My wife and I stayed at Maximilian in early December 2019 to visit Christmas Markets. We liked everything about the Hotel. First, the location is excellent. It is convenient to all of the popular Munich sites - only a few blocks away from Hofbrauhaus, Marienplatz, transportation, etc. - but yet is located in a quiet part of town. Convenient and quiet. The staff were outstanding. They went out of their way to invite us to a special evening appreciation event in the courtyard featuring wine and a cozy fire and they were especially helpful in helping us arrange to ship some Christmas ornaments back to the US without breaking the bank. Last, the room was very nice and quiet with a very comfortable bed, a large bathroom, a small kitchenette and a small outdoor balcony that overlooked the courtyard. We love Munich and we will absolutely, 100% select Maximilian for our next stay.

Arrived in Munich by air for a long weekend, S Bahn Station at the airport, S8 to Marienplatz (35 mins and €11 ish).. Walk out of Marienplatz and the k two lifts or stairs and was welcomed with an easy check-in process and offered a welcome drink. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was perfect for our needs. The mattress /bed is on a small platform which is quite low so my partner found it a little difficult to get in and out of but that's an age and injury thing... I'm sure if we had or felt we needed to mention it at the time the hotel would of helped as everyone we met from the hotel were very helpful. The hotel is modern and offers lots of little 'quirks' that we both said "that's a good idea", simple things like a shopping bag in the room that's free to use while you stay, it can be purchased but it's free to use. Music in the bathroom with volume control, a on the house leaving drink on our last night delivered with an ice bucket. Normal toiletries in the bathroom (lovely smelling hand, body, hair and face wash), a durex too... How thoughtful 😂 Plenty of plug sockets, tv, safe, open wardrobe, still and sparkling water replaced daily and room cleaned each day. There are no Tea or Coffee making facilities in the room but the hotel offer this in the bar without fee. We didn't try the breakfast as we like to eat out and about. Outside you are literally 2 mins walk from Marienplatz there is a taxi rank there and there are lots of bars, supermarkets, chemist's and restaurants in each direction within a minutes walk so it's a perfect location for being in the center of things and getting about. Obviously that means there is a potential for road, business, church bells and reveller noise outside.... That's not the hotels fault, should be expected and ear plugs are a good idea. We travel alot to new places so may not return to Munich but if we did we would definatley return to this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Small friendly hotel located on a very quiet side street just a 10 min walk to the main market. Dropped our cases off when we arrived so we’re free to go and explore straight away. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable for tourist tips. Rooms were small and basic but clean and comfortable and ideal for when you are out all day. I agree with some comments about them being warm but opening the window had immediate effect and due to being tucked away noise wasn’t a problem. Breakfast was buffet and only €10 PP which I thought was very good. If you just wanted to grab a coffee to go it was only€1. Munich was lovely and I would stay here again due to its location

Upon accidentally running into this hotel I was greeted by Anna ( angel) btw she could immediately tell I was lost! She helped me get into a room , find parking, and had me dining at the hofbrau house in under 15 minutes! As I was traveling during the coronavirus and also have copd a lung disease I found myself needing a doctors assistance, they immediately called a doctor who arrived quickly and administered the coronavirus test, Swan to back of throat and back of nose, I was quarantined 48 hrs til test results came back negative! During my incarceration lol they attended my every need alway leaving things at the door food , coffee, wine, towels sheets everything and they never made me wait and were so kind knowing I was a foreigner and alone and somewhat scared! They were all rooting for me and celebrated my negative diagnosis, apart from this the hotel is in a perfect location to walk to all points of interest, shopping, dining etc they have parking for a slight fee which is hard to find in old town breakfast was cozy and good and they always had complimentary coffees , tea croissants and fruit, this hotel and it’s employees have certainly put a wonderful face on the city of Munich!

It is easier to choose Kempinski Hotel in Germany, and the location and service are among the best in the local area. This Munich store is located in the center of the old town, on a street with luxury brands. It takes only a few minutes to walk to Marienplatz, the Royal Palace and the Hofbräuhaus. Freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast is particularly delicious, packed in clear glass bottles. Although there are not many types, the meat loaf and small sausages taste good, and they feel better than the restaurants outside. The standard room is nothing special, the bathroom is quite spacious and has a smart toilet lid, which is rare in Europe. The hotel’s swimming pool is not big. Ctrip’s website says the hotel is closed during the epidemic, but it’s especially open during the summer. Two people are restricted to travel together at a time.

The location is very good, you can go to the surrounding attractions and walk around. It is the temporary parking location at the entrance of the hotel is very small, it is impossible to stop when there is a car. It is not very convenient to park the luggage first and then go to the parking lot. The hotel breakfast is good, the bread is delicious, great. The old 4 stars, the location is absolutely praise, the price is also the most expensive hotel in this trip, the right hand is to buy a cheap shop in the sun-wavy box, walk to the most prosperous famous street for about ten minutes, the facilities are a bit old, breakfast is more abundant Snacks and drinks in the small refrigerator of the room are all given, comprehensive satisfaction

I stayed here when traveling to Munich last year. It was an OK experience, but it was brought down by one thing: not being very handicapped accessible. Here's more about my experience: The hotel is a historic part of Munich which is filled with places of worship and restaurants, so you're in a great location. You're also near the Victauls Farmers Market which is also really great. Now to the grounds of the hotel, the lobby is very nice and well-kept. The lobby is slightly dated, but well-kept. The big problem is the elevator, which is so small you can't fit a wheelchair in there. You can't fit in more than 2 people either. Wheelchairs have to be carried up and down steps for them to be moved around the hotel, this is a major inconvenience for anyone who uses one. The staff was very nice throughout and seemed very concerned when we talked about our problems with handicapped accessibility. The rooms were OK but small, and this is where more problems come into play with handicapped accessibility. The room was so small and cramped you couldn't fit a wheelchair in there. This is another major inconvenience for disabled individuals. I pretty much did everything from my bed or from the desk. The sleep I got was pretty good but please note there are lots of sounds nearby., including church bells so you might want to close the window before you go to sleep. In conclusion, this hotel is in a good area and the staff is great but I can't truly recommend this hotel, especially since it's not very handicapped accessible. It's still doable though.

Note: have stayed in this hotel many times, but it just keeps getting better. If you’re looking for a hotel that’s big enough to deal with all the familiar travel challenges, but small enough to really care and know who you are, look no further than the Louis Hotel in Munich. It’s a boutique hotel in all the positive ways - individual design touches you would never find in a chain, low staff turnover of great people, spacious rooms that really work well for business travellers and a friendliness that goes way beyond the norm. Louis were early into the game of letting you choose your pillow. Bath goodies are high quality and bath salts a lovely extra. Courtesy bikes are great and a real plus in a bike friendly city like Munich. Restaurant has gone through some changes from being a great Japanese to being a great steakhouse. In the summer you can head for the roof for a great outdoor meal look of across the rooftops. The bar is friendly and cool. Breakfast is off the chart good - a really unusual buffet that’s a hangover from Japanese restaurant along with a strong menu cooked to order. But really, the best thing about the Louis is the fantastic staff. Hugely efficient and knowledgable while delivering the most friendly service of any hotel I have ever stayed in. ...and all for a price that puts many of its competitors to shame.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. Our room was clean and air-conditioned, and it also had a balcony. Breakfast was very good - something for every taste. There are no hot offerings, but you won't leave hungry. I was surprised that there was no hair dryer but I happened to bring my own. The bathroom setup was a little tricky, that is, it was tight getting into the tub for a shower. If you have mobility issues, ask for a room with a walk-in shower. The location is ideal - a two minute walk to the S-bahn, and a leisurely 10 minute stroll to Marienplatz and the Viktualienmarkt. Tons of restaurants nearby. Also, the S-bahn station around the corner (Isartor station) has a non-stop train to the airport. I would definitely stay here again.

The location of this hotel is PERFECT if you’re looking to indulge in the traditional Munich experience! We arrived early and the crew happily stored our bags. Upon return to check in, we were informed we were upgraded for free! Our room was absolutely beautiful. Clean room with no complaints! The next day, we had a late flight so the hotel held our luggage again with no issues. We had a drink at the hotel bar and service was great there as well. The only weird thing was the duvet on our bed appeared to be mended with bandages... I called hospitality and they seemed to be very embarrassed and unsure of why or how that happened. He gave me a new duvet within 10 minutes of my call. Overall, the shining star of this hotel is the service. They even remembered my name upon picking up my bags. Will definitely stay here again if my travels take me back to Munich!

The location is very good, 5 minutes walk to the subway station, and the main attractions can also be reached on foot. Check in check out is very fast. The apartment has a cooking place and the room is spacious. The breakfast is quite rich, and many local specialties can be eaten at breakfast. The breakfast is long enough for you to taste slowly. There is no air conditioning, there is no problem in the autumn season, and I don’t know it in the summer. The fan is quite powerful.

This is a very cost-effective European hotel, the same price, better than the Marriott next door. First of all, the location is very convenient. It is 300 meters on foot from the subway station. The Lufthansa Express Bus at the airport is also at the entrance of the subway station. It can be 10 Euros from here to the airport, 15 minutes. The room was very good, I stayed in a superior room, but the facilities were great and new. There is a capsule coffee machine, there is a glass bottle of water (with a gas without a gas), there are bathrobe slippers, the towel is very thick. The room is very soundproof and the curtains are perfect. Room attendants are well trained and not as cold as most hotels. Book breakfast at the front desk for 26 Euros at check-in, which is a few dollars cheaper than direct signing. There are many kinds of fruits, a lot of fruits, and a handsome little brother will make you an egg roll.

Tulip inn is one of the many trade show hotels around the Munich messe. Located about 4km from the fair ground in a typical (there’s nothing going on but offices) industrial area. Directly located at the 94 highway thus easy accessible. Reception is understaffed and checking/ checkout might take a while. Rooms are pretty basic but clean (no neighbors noise!) breakfast is not to extensive but provides hot food and the typical bread and Cereals. To sum it up, not a place where you want to spend time with a family but a descend business facinity

Just stayed here for a few nights with the family. We opted for two rooms but where double beds were expected the rooms had two single beds put together. The bathroom was very clean and the showers worked a treat. There were very large TVs in each room and the beds were comfortable. Each room had plenty of storage space and each had air conditioning. We opted not to have breakfast, because the hotel was situated about 100 yards from the train station, so we went there instead. Breakfast here was about 20 Euros a head so we walked to the station for fresh food. As you leave the hotel and walked through the passage to the road, you turned right and the train station was right in front, just across the road. Staff were very friendly, there was free wifi and lifts to the rooms. Overall it was a nice place to stay and it was extremely well sited for trains and trams in and out of the city. Would stay here again, if only because it was so well situated being effectively just across the road from the train station.

We came 2 hours earlier than the check in time but were told that our room were ready. Tobias welcomes us at the check in and he was really friendly and welcoming. The hotel is quite new and about 8 minutes walk to the Station. It was quite fast to go to central Munich. Bed was comfortable and shower was good. Breakfast was a bit pricy at €19 per person per day, so we didn’t have breakfast at the hotel.

The location is excellent, but because of the recent construction near the Munich train station, the outside environment has a little impact, but the room is absolutely quiet and comfortable. We brought two children this time. There was no extra money for breakfast. The suites were arranged on the top floor and the scenery was beautiful. The rooms are fully equipped, all electronically controlled, very scientific and technological! PS: The hotel has a rich breakfast, especially the variety of fruits and high quality. There is also a bar that can make waffles by yourself. The children will make their own meals every day, especially happy.
