We really enjoy our stay, we upgrade to the suite 1013. Very clean and quite. The shower is fantastic. Great food and impecable attention and service. Everyone at the hotel was attentive and very nice. Good food and bar. Nice pool and excellent spa. Although is not close to shopping malls or to trendy area of the city, taxis are so in inexpensive and the city safe that is not an impediment. Great tours complement a great stay.

We booked a room based on reviews of the hotel food and room experience. Our room was updated, but had no blackout curtains. There were blinds available, but were stuck and we were unable to draw them at night when the neighborhood lights shone into the room. Breakfast was underwhelming, with hygiene being the biggest problem. The only thing that brought us back to eat was good coffee and very friendly service provided by the wait staff. We had lunch at their roof top restaurant, and unfortunately the food was not up to par. Check in was a very positive experience. However, check out was awful. My husband and I were in a hurry to get to the airport to catch our flight to Bogota. I went to check out while my husband loaded our suitcases in the rental car. Young lady at the front desk refused to proceed with the check out process until I produce the 2 room keys they had given us. First time this ever happens to us in over 20 years of travel. I was forced to go to the basement to dig through our packed suitcases to produce the 2nd room key so we could leave. Meanwhile, my husband decided to go to front desk to pay for the key if necessary, so we wouldn't be late for our flight. Oddly enough, the gentleman who also happened to be at the front desk proceeded to check him out without even asking him about the room key. (unbeknownst to me) I finally located the room key and ran back up to the front desk, only to find out that my husband (who looks gringo and speaks no English) had been checked out with no issues. Baffled, I asked about the 2nd key, and both my husband and the man at the front desk tell me there was no problem. The lady who originally helped did not make eye contact and acted as she knew nothing about the issue she had started. I decided not to complain to management, and to post my experience here, where it carries more clout and can help other travelers avoid such negativeexperiences. That whole experience leads me to assume that because I look hispanic and spoke Spanish to the young lady who I had originally dealt with, that she acted rudely to me because she assumed I was a local. Well, I definitely am not a local AND even if I were, respect is something that you should provide to all of your customers. My suggestion here is that the young lady who initiated my checked out be sent back to customer service training so that she can learn how to provide equal quality of service to local and foreign tourists alike. I will never book a room at this hotel based on my experiences here in February.

We stayed at this hotel at the last minute. It is located in the middle of some bars, huge supermarket (I think it was Exito) ATMs in the area etc. The hotel is nothing fancy, but if you need a quick layover...in town, this could be an option

The city wasn’t my favourite in Colombia, and neither was the hotel, but it was ok. The best part was the great service, and ever-smiling face, of Jesus the concierge/doorman/fix it man. Every hotel needs someone like him as it’s customer relations person. Restaurant was good and the breakfast adequate.

we are traveling around south America for a couple of months now, and although we've felt welcome in some hotels before (specially in Colombia!) we've never ever felt so much like at home like here! Alfredo greets you with a hug and a Welcome home and from there on you are considered family. The building is totally renovated and totally beautiful! The colors, the furniture, the terrace, everything is super well thought. The room was big and comfy and the shower was great! We had breakfast in the terrace that they prepare specially to our taste, fruits, arepas, buns and eggs. They make everything themselves, it's a family run place and they put all their effort to make your stay perfect! we wish them all the best! Totally recommend it!

Pros: Comfy bed and bedding, spacious rooms, quiet ambiance, enough amenities, decent breakfast (hot option), and most importantly excellent location. Shopping centers just a 3 min walk away. Small grocery store right upfront. Exito supermarket 3 min walk away. Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. Cons: No clothing closet inside the room, just few hangers. No ironing board, but there was an iron. No reading lights and very small table (I do not recommend for business traveler). Scarce power outlets. Window was useless. No movable shower heads. No safe deposit box as listed. Poorly managed, only one person at reception.

The surroundings of the hotel are a bit echy. It feels like you are downtown at night. The hotel is not too bad. The pool is just a small sauna, and they rent the restaurant for parties, so if you want to relax with your meal, you'd better have it taken to your room. The breakfast is basic, could be better. The worst thing was the bathroom though, we stayed in two rooms and both showers were dirty and full of hairs that did not belong to us.... yuck!

Very noise (like you have a train in your room in ever 10 a 20 minutes) and have bad smelling. The price is too high for the room style. The booking website is a little bit liying, using the higher price room to confise the user. So when your arrive will be despointed with the room.

Absolutely brutal. We arrived at midnight and had a bus at 6 am so we were only there for a few hours sleep. They sprayed a whole can of aerosol air freshener in our room before we arrived so we couldn’t even enter the room until it aired out. We quickly fell asleep but when we woke up at 5am a terrible smell of raw sewage had filled the room and both my boyfriend and I felt terribly ill. They also charged us for an extra person even though our reservation clearly stated for 2 people.

Stayed here for 2 weeks. The location is outstanding, Well kept and well run facility. Our room was B7-207. Can't say enough good things about it. It is amazing how many pools this hotel has seeing that it is located on the shore of the Caribbean. The staff are helpful and friendly even if a language barrier may exist at times. Between my limited Spanish and their limited English, it is amazing how we made each other understand. Than is the true fun in travelling. I do not expect every country to cater to me in English. If I am not ready to expand my knowledge base then I might as well stay home. I have never met a foreign visitor from China, or Russia, or any other none English speaking country who visits my country, Canada, who expects me to converse with them in there language. The entire stay was most enjoyable and fulfilled my expectations. All the staff were wonderful and it is not my nature to single out individuals, but in this case I am compelled to say muchas gracias to Eduardo, Jesus, Veronica, Leveras and Hector.

The hotel is near the sea, surrounded by the sea on both sides, and the view is good. From the window you can see the old town and the castle. The hotel has a very poorly designed elevator, which considers it intelligent, but it actually brings great inconvenience to the guests. The gym and swimming pool were suspended during the stay. The hotel stated that they could take us to another hotel, 40 minutes away by car, to use the swimming pool. In fact, if you want to use the swimming pool, it might as well be the next Hyatt. Next to it are resort hotels. Location about 15-20 minutes walk from the old town. It is recommended to take a taxi when playing.

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights last week. The hotel sits right on the beach with good views of the old city and of the sunsets over the Caribbean. And in most regards, the experience was very good: The rooms seemed newly furnished. The wifi worked well. The pool & gym were open with appropriate social distancing protocols in place. I always found someone at reception who spoke english who could answer my questions. And there was an adequate free American breakfast each morning delivered to my room. I think the most important point is that the hotel made me feel very safe because great attention was being paid to bio-safety rules. The protocols in the city of Cartagena are very strict and the hotel staff followed them closely. All staff wore masks or face shields, and gloves at all times. My temperature was taken every time I entered or left the building and I was offered a sanitary gel to wash my hands. Even my suitcase was sprayed when I first arrived. And no staff ever entered my room without my express request. All in all, I felt very safe during my visit there. So I enjoyed my short stay at the hotel and would feel comfortable going back in the coming months.

Sometimes you have this silly situation because you feel a hotel deserves five stars when they provide excellent service and the room is mad clean, but then your partner says "well the wi-fi coverage in the room wasn't too good, there was a lot of noise from the street when the balcony door was open, and the air conditioner was too loud and made the room too cold and you couldn't heat it again unless you turned it off, which meant you'd have to open the balcony door to let the air in but then it would be too noisy and I couldn't sleep"? And you're like "well it's not like the hotel can do anything about the traffic on the strip is there? Of course they could pressure authorities to bang out bike lanes and provide electrical scooters, which clearly would benefit everyone, and it's kinda crazy they haven't done so already. And the air condition wasn't that loud, and you slept like a baby anyway. I agree on the wi-fi though, but that just meant we read more books, went for runs along the beach and did wholesome stuff instead. You just said on the flight back that it was a really nice hotel!"? And your partner turns moody because you said this with a slightly degrading tone, and says something that spins the conversation into an argument and all of a sudden the air has soured and you're jabbing at each other until someone leaves and the other one has to write a hotel review alone? Well, at least you'll get to give it five stars. But then again, if you give it four you'll have some leverage when you find your partner for a hug.
