PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING THIS HOTEL! MY WEDDING DAY WAS RUINED. I booked this hotel for two nights for my wedding which would have taken place on 14th January 2021. Everything was booked and paid for until Coronavirus hit (we all know how that went) so unfortunately my heart was broken and the hotel advised us to cancel the booking. After Coronavirus calmed down and events were allowed to take place again, the first thing me and my family done was contact the hotel to rebook our dream wedding. Unbeknownst to my family and I, the hotel manager we previously dealt with had left and a new manager had taken their place. We booked an appointment with the new manager to be able to go over our plans and book a new date. Firstly, the manager was hostile and this is not what you expect when booking your special day, especially when it had previously been cancelled due to the virus. During the meeting my mum happen to mention our culture which is English Showman (A showman is a way of life. Showmen travel the UK with funfairs; providing entertainment). As soon as our culture was mentioned, the Event Manager (Mel Goff) said these exact words which have haunted me to this day “I wasn’t made aware you were showman, we ain’t meant to be having any of your kind here again!) after those words were uttered, I looked at my mum and started to cry. Firstly, why has this person judged me and my family on our culture and made me feel ashamed and secondly, my dream wedding was not going to happen due to the way I live. It was surely just a nightmare. After a very abrupt exit from the hotel that day, my mum decided to call the Head Office. I have lived in Norwich my whole life and couldn’t think of anywhere else I would want to have my special day. The Head Office agreed that we could have the wedding at the hotel as they could not see a problem. However, the final decision came down to the Manager. I tried to call and email the Manager for weeks but got no reply. Our dream wedding was slipping away from us. The Manager would not answer any of my calls or texts. After a month or so, my family and I decided to give up and had to chose another venue (which had no problem with our culture) and our wedding finally happened. I still to this day am distraught that my family and I were judged on something that should never have even been taken into context. If we are being judged and refused then what other cultures/minorities are too? Absolutely disgusting customer service and no human compassion at all.

We haven't been to this hotel for a long time due to Covid etc. We came for three nights this time. It has greatly improved the menus and we had first class evening meals. The breakfast was as good as we remembered it. The staff were, without exception, kind, friendly and helpful. There was a lot of attention to cleanliness and we watched the staff cleaning the tables meticulously when customers had left. We could not have been more pleased with our stay.
