Dedicated to san diego to see the aircraft carrier. The hotel is located in the eastern Mexican district and is very quiet. There is bus 874 at the door and then go to the light rail green line directly to the seaside aircraft carrier. This hotel actually has a shower, no need to stand in the bathtub, the US imperial is too unexpected. An American breakfast is available. It feels good for the best western hotel chain, and later went to San Francisco to book a hotel brand near the airport.

I checked into the Super 8 in El Cajon, CA on Wednesday, March 1, 2023; and checked out on Friday, March 3. I wanted to ask a question after I checked in, so I attempted to call the front desk. That’s when I noticed that the phone in the room had no dial tone. I looked at the back of the phone. There was no cord attached. I looked behind the nightstand. I saw no phone jack in the wall, nor a cord. The phone is just there for DECORATION! I went to the front desk to get quarters for the laundry machines. The young woman at the front desk asked me how many quarters I need. I politely replied, “How many quarters does the machines take?” She replied, “I don’t know.” I expected her to turn to a co-worker and ask, but instead she just stood there and said nothing. So I said, “Why don’t you ask someone else who works here?” She hesitated and still did nothing. I said, “Surely someone who works here knows exactly how many quarters the machines take.” So finally, she got on the phone and called somebody. Then she told me that she only has four dollars in quarters. This wasn’t enough to do one load in the washer and one load in the dryer. Why provide coin laundry if you’re not going to provide sufficient quarters? That’s like a tire store selling tires without tire installations services or an air hose to put air in the tires. Finally, I got more quarters from another guest who happened to be eating breakfast while I was there. So I went upstairs to the laundry room. When I came back downstairs, the cleaning lady was furiously sweeping the floor. I paused at the bottom of the stairs to ensure that she saw me, then I proceeded to walk back to my room with my laundry bag. After she looked at me, she continued to furiously sweep dirt onto me as I walked past. I told her that she just swept dirt on me. She just looked at me and didn’t apologize. She obviously didn’t understand what I said, apparently not a speaker of English. I then demonstrated how she was sweeping onto me. She still didn’t understand. I learned to use a broom to sweep when I was a young child. Common sense dictates that if a person walks by, or if I come to an area where food and/or eating utensils are present, I stop sweeping. When I got back to my room, I called the front desk (from my cel phone because the room phone is merely an ornament). I tried to explain what happened to the lady over the phone. It was the same lady who gave me quarters earlier. Then she began to argue with me and talk over me. She said, “First of all, she wasn’t sweeping in the laundry room.”, insinuating that I was lying. I replied, “I never said that she was sweeping in the laundry room.” Obviously, she wasn’t listening to me. Then she continued arguing and talking over me and said, “Don’t talk to me like that.” multiple times before she hung up on me. I did NOT yell at her but I was upset because the cleaning lady swept dirt on me. I called back a few minutes later and asked

It seemed we reserved the last available room in the city of El Cajon for 1 night on a Saturday night. We had zero expectation and frankly expected a dump because of the horrendous reviews. Check-in was fast, lobby has 2 chairs, a table with coffeemaker and a rack full of San Diego tours and flyers. They issue only 1 key to the room and another key to the Super 8 motel next door if we need ice. True story. Parking is tight but free. Our room was on the 1st floor. Building has 2 floors with no elevator. Inside the room is a king bed with no headboard, 4 pillows, wood floors, microwave, mini fridge, safe, sink outside of the bathroom, hairdryer, TV and a disgusting old chair that has seen better days. The whole place could use a makeover. Bring your own toiletries. Towels and toilet paper are thin. We were afraid to avail of the free breakfast. Hot water and shower pressure worked great; AC was cold; there were multiple electric outlets; WiFi was fast and even if location is on a main street we weren’t bothered by noise. We were allowed to check-out at 11:30am. It was okay for a quick overnight stay to avoid a DUI.

I've stayed at this hotel twice now for a relaxing staycation. When it comes to my actual hotel room, it's a good room. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Really nothing bad to say about the room. The one thing I didn't like about staying here is the food/restaurant options. You can't bring your own food into the hotel so you have to use their restaurants. While the food was decent at the grill area, I hated that I had to travel from my room all the way to the grill for my meals and then bring it back to my room. I didn't feel like having all my meals at the sit down restaurants. Those meals are pricier. I believe they have a food court but that wasn't open yet. So for now that is my con. Having to get food to eat. I also used their fitness center and it was nice. Some good decent cardio machines and weights to do a good workout. Place was great to have a good workout. As for their spa ritual, i loved LOVED when I got a mani/pedi and a massage. The massage was fairly relaxing but it was my pedicure that I loved. The staff member took her time and made it comfortable and relaxing. One of the best pedicures I've had in a very long time. I would HIGHLY recommend coming to the spa. Oh, I also got to use the pool. Food is more expensive here. Place can get a bit crowded so come early to get a good spot. As my title says... Staycation! If you're a San Diego local then I would suggest this place for a nice weekend getaway.
