For the price we were quite disappointed with the room size, although the fringe was on. We paid for a double room for two nights and the bedroom was not of a size that fits a double room, not only did the door hit the bed when you opened it, but one side of the bed was pushed against the wall, meaning in order to use the restroom in the middle of the night one person either had to climb over the other person, get them to move, or bounce down to the bottom of the bed. The breakfast was very good, but be warned that the host cooks it in front of you, which in itself is nice as it is very fresh, but she is in the room with you as you eat as this is just at the kitchen table. We found it a little uncomfortable as we didn’t have any privacy while we were eating and at one point a couple of other patrons came down to have their breakfast and had to be turned away as we were not done. Which put them out and us out. The host was very friendly though, and the place was very clean, with plenty of hot water. The walk into town is about 40-50 minutes, but there is a very good bus service.

My husband checked us in as he got to the room very early and the hotel owner let him in. I got a text "you are going to hate this place" great the panic sets in aa i had read previous reviews anyway. We had room 2 the family roon with ensuite. It had a double bed and bunk bed. Perfect for 3 of us. Yes its in need of upgrade in terms of decor, yes the furniture is old (the bunk was duck taped together) and yes there is no room to swing a cat but it was spotless and thd beds some of the comfiest we have slept in. Breakfast was ok (my husband thought it was great so perhaps i am being harsh). But i felt the food was cheap ingredients although cooked well. My only concern is the temp of the shower. It is scaldingly hot to point i kept coming out to cool myself before getting all bubbles out of my hair. The temp control was not working. I appreciate these repairs cost money but it needs done. There is no way i would put a child in that shower. The hotel is obviously owned by a family who are trying their best in what is a challenging and competitive industry. I wish them every success. As my review states its not the Ritz it is a clean comfortable hotel in the perfect location to Murrayfield and the zoo. Offering free parking and bus stop right outside with quick links to city centre. Although we walked to city centre (60 minutes with our 5 year old!). Its an ideal spot to put your head down for the night if thats all you want.

I called the hotel on the morning of our stay as we weren’t sure if we would be allowed in given Scotland had recently announced new COVID guidelines. . We were told the hotel is closed and they couldn’t see any record of our booking. We were then told we had been moved to The Scotsman Hotel which is supposedly a better hotel in a better location. However we were put in a room, nice though it was, that had fewer facilities than the one we booked. We also had to pay for parking- free parking was one of the key reasons we chose the murrayfield in the first place. We didn’t get to stay at the Murrayfield so I don’t feel able to really rate it but I just think people should be aware of this possibility that the hotel may be closed during your visit and you won’t be told unless you call.

I am a mother from China, taking a vacation with a baby. This was the cheapest hotel I booked during the UK. I was looking at the holiday inn brand and it didn't disappoint me. Summary of the advantages: 1. Location, the bus stop at the zero distance downstairs is very cool, the airport comes here 100 direct access (even if you drag the luggage does not need to take a taxi, there are luggage racks on the 100 road, the seats are very spacious, and there is no difference between the taxis) There are also a number of routes leading to the train station, Princes Street, Edinburgh's core business district. Tickets 1.7 per way, dayticket4 £ (unlimited number of times and times) 2. Cost-effective, breakfast invincible, only 10 £, really cheap (compared to a burger 6 £ outside). 3. The room is not small, still very quiet! be quiet! be quiet! (Important things say three times)

We reserved through not really knowing much about he area except that it was close to the castle. We are able to walk there in about 15 min which is what you want to do since parking is limited. When we arrived we were super late and we were greeted with a smiling face and could park right outside. We were shown to the room immediately. The room was a family room- 2double beds. It was clean and good enough for us as we were just sleeping and checking out the next morning. No hot breakfast in the morning but had coffee and tea, fruit and cereals. They were very helpful with directions and helped me when I forgot to pack items and needed them. There is a Lidl next door for groceries and several great restaurants close by including a Hungarian one I would recommend-you pass right by it on the way to the castle. Altogether good experience, nothing fancy but we were satisfied.

We spent one night with my two sons aged 17 and 15. We were warmly welcomed by the lady in charge of the guesthouse. The room was spacious with 3 comfortable beds and nice facilities. The location was good even though not right in the center. The breakfast was excellent and cooked in demand. Overall a great experience for a good price.

When we arrived the staff were polite and check in was good. The room (21) was a massive room and very nice. The staff were all polite. Unfortunately they had a big refurbishment being done, and we didn't know this before we arrived. They were right outside the window next to the bed, and started work (&swearing) about 8am in the morning. We had to keep the curtains closed on that window to stop them looking in. Also one member of staff came into the room one morning without knocking just seconds after my partner had got dressed, so it could have been much worse. He was very apologetic but it shouldn't have happened. We were also told each day that we could get evening meals, but each evening we were told no. We would complain again the next morning, and was assured we would be able to get a meal, only to be told no again by the evening staff. One big problem was the price of the drinks at the bar. The bar was opened to the public on Six Nations day, which was fine, but they increased the price of a pint from £3.95 to £4.50 and we had to pay that increase also, even tho we were staying there. I think that was unacceptable. Overall tho, many thanks to Adam and Maggie for all their help whilst we were there, but we will check reviews for improvements before we consider booking again.

I highly recommend. This is a lovely old building and feels very homely. Large rooms, with large beds. Lovely views. The host is warm and welcoming and gladly accommodated my request for a later breakfast. The cooked breakfast was of a high quality and the eggs cooked perfectly. Cereals, fruit juice and plenty of condiments available. Will stay here again without hesitation!

Edinburgh Old Town
The hotel is located in the old quarter of Edinburgh, "bread street", close to the castle and Princes Street Gardens, and the location is superb. The hotel's own buffet breakfast is not comparable to the domestic breakfast, but it is already very rich in the UK, you can also find a waiter to customize the fried egg and other dishes. The room is really small, if you are with two big boxes, it is estimated that it is difficult to spread both on the ground at the same time. In addition, the bathroom is really small. It is difficult for a Chinese who is not a burly to bathe in the bathroom or the wall. However, hotels in the UK are small rooms. Overall, it is still satisfactory, of course, don't compare it with the domestic Hilton, otherwise you will feel that you have gone wrong.
