This hotel is on the small side and when we arrived they just had a coach load arrive so this may not be a fair time to review, however, the hotel is nice, it has a small pool and a terrace to sit in the sun and relax, a bar and a restaurant that sells decent food, the staff are lovely. However we were given room 202, it is on the 1st floor (no lift about 16 steps), at the top of the stairs, turn right and it is the first room, all of the rest of the rooms on this floor are separated by a fire door in the hall, which obviously reduces noise for them, room 202 is not, you can hear everything, every time someone checks in at reception, every time someone comes up the stairs (especially late at night) and every time the hall door to the rest of the rooms is opened and banged shut :( Then in the morning the chamber maids doing the bedrooms, it really is like being in a room just off reception, I am sure that had we have had any other room we would have loved our stay but sleep s important. Also the room was very, very small more like a budget Ibis than a Ibis styles, I kept stubbing my toes on things!

Fantastic place to stay if you are in the Carcassonne area. A little way out of town but easy to find with plenty of free parking. The people who run it are all just great - for example one lady makes her own 'bread pudding' cake for breakfast. They really seem to take a pride in the place. Clean, good Wi-Fi, friendly and cheap. We could not recommend this highly enough.

Used as an overnight on our way south, but timed the visit so we could spend the afternoon/evening visiting the historic Cite and the town too. Arrived at about 15.00 and simple check-in left us ample time to walk the 15mins to the citadel. Handy map available meant we could explore without getting lost. Returned to hotel after eating. Room more than adequate, and appreciated the ability to NOT have the bunk over our double bed. Good nights sleep - we had a rear facing room - and after the usual decent buffet breakfast we were off and on our way bright and early.

“The initial welcome on arrival was positive, my French is not particularly good but the staff made the effort to communicate effectively, they were friendly and helpful which includes the cleaning staff as well. The room was fairly basic and reminded me of military accommodation (bare walls) but the bed was queen sized and comfortable, the room and ensuite shower/toilet were very clean and the towels were changed every morning, didn't use the TV but the WiFi was very effective and able to download films to watch without buffering. We were lucky as were accommodated in one of the 50% of rooms with a view across the neighbouring vineyard and all the way to the Mountains Noir about 20K away. Well located halfway between Carcassonne and Trebes. Very good cold continental breakfast with considerable choice and no obvious limitations.”

We stayed here as a couple in late January. We found the accomodation to be excellent and on our first evening it was a little cold and the staff arrived over with an additional electric heater without us even requesting it, now that is customer service. The gentleman that we dealt with on the reception was also very friendly and helpful and had the maintenance man over in five minutes to fix our coffee machine. The apartment itself is great for self catering and of a good size. There are fabulous places to eat and drink very close by but sometimes it is nice to have the facility to cook something light for yourself. It is only a five minute walk from the Cite with all that is on offer there and is only a twenty minute walk into the "new" town with great shops, bars and restaurants. There are some great walks close by including along the river or along the Canal du Midi. We would definitely recommend it as the development itself is lovely and quiet but close to everything. And for those who like to swim or keep fit there is a great indoor swimming pool and a gym area. Definitely will be back

I can’t rate this place high enough. Absolutely spotless facilities, location perfect and staff extremely friendly. The location was a few minutes walk from the main Citadelle. The main city Parking which people have to pay for , is a stones throw away from this apartment. So you can leave your car at the apartment and stroll down. There is a electric gate and plenty of parking on arrival. The guy who checked us in and also checked us out ( Jean Loup ) could not have been more helpful. He seemed fluent in French, English and Spanish and was giving many guests useful information about where to eat and how to get to their next destination. The bed, pillows and douvet were all extremely comfortable and considering how close we was to the city there was no noise at all from outside. Regis is an excellent host. Very good English and sense of humour. He lives in the house and has 5 letting rooms. Ours was spacious, clean, nicely decorated and tastefully furnished with a few simple period pieces. Location great - right on boulevard that is a border of the Bastide nearest the old city. Loads of public paid parking and a few free spaces right outside if you get lucky - we did. Lovely continental breakfast - fruit, bread, home-made cakes etc. Would certainly stay again.

got there on airport shuttle that stops at the central train station; that makes life easy. If you haven't arrived in a few minutes, you've done something wrong. Just cross the bridge out front over the canal du midi - very easy to get distracted -turn left along the road lining the canal and you will see the rail bridge ahead (that's too far). There are a couple of restaurants (italia one of them - c my pix) that's after your turn. You will see a pink sign for the hotel and an info sign...when you do, the hotel is actually in sight on the corner. This is a good location for the many things that Carcassonne offers, and it offers a lot. The Canal, River Aude, lower town with Cathedrals, plazas, restaurants and market....and how about that umbrella lined street aiming you toward the turn by the tourist info (a very good one) enroute to cross the river to the castle? The room was fine and we could actually glimpse the canal from there. It is so pleasant to just walk ten minutes and have a snack and a beverage, lock-side on the green. There is a mini-mart nearby where you can get a beer and food, or if you want, cross over to the station. At night, you use a code to return. It is quiet and safe there, with again a nice plaza with fountains opposite the Terminus hotel. Breakfast was ample downstairs and the hosts were helpful. Their recommendation for L'atelier (italian food) was very good for us and we returned. It's on the square where the market takes place (with the Neptune/Poseidon statue). Remember that to first locate the hotel, after crossing the bridge turn left along the canal and past the brasserie with wrought iron and by the first opening (montpellier) - there is the pink Astoria sign and i for information. Enter past the INFO sign and Astoria is on the next corner, within a minute. We rented bikes one day from a shop down Umbrella street, and turned left from the station to access the canal-du-midi path. Ten minutes gets you out of the ville and you are on the bike path to serenity along the canal.

I visited this hotel from the 6th July 2020 and stayed for 4 nights- so this is when the lockdown restrictions had been eased and the travel corridor to France had been opened. Very clean, staff taking all precautions for safety against Covid-19- perspex shields in reception, staff wearing masks, regular cleaning and gel available everywhere. What I like the most about the staff is that they were very friendly and helpful despite my french being poor. They often went out of their way to make sure we were happy and didn't need anything. You could tell they were happy to be back at work and were grateful for customers visiting restoring their livelihood. The staff were that good I would employ them myself. The room was very clean and spacious and the hotel is located a 5 minute cab ride from the airport- roughly 6 euros in a taxi. The pool area was clean and well maintained, the pool was the perfect size and very clean. Pool towels were in abundant supply- we didn't have to ask for anything it was perfect. The hotel is located close to a large supermarket, there is also a chinese restaurant close by called Woks which was awful so don't be tempted to go there. At the hotel there was a full selection at the reception bar from fine cognac to fine wine, also Stella beer and an array of soft drinks- all priced fairly. This hotel also offers food, I didn't try it but it looked and smelt amazing, breakfast was continental all fresh and plenty of juices. I would highly recommend this hotel to all travellers, it is good for families, singles, couples all ages. If you plan to visit the Medival city of Caracassonne it is about 20 euros in a taxi, the town is about 13 euros in a taxi and the train station is about 13 euros. Taxis arrive generally in about 10 mins once ordered in reception. I'd recommend a day trip out on the train to Narbonne-which has a wonderful cathederal that allows you to view the bishops living quarters and a museum that houses paintings and a bust of Louis XV1, it also boasts a beautiful canal showered in floral decoration. Also Narbonne Plage which has a gorgeous beach and coastline unspoiled by tourism this costs about 2.50 euros on a bus from Narbonne. Tolousse is also 40 mins on the train- lots to see. Caracassonne is a great base. A special thanks to- this is where I'll apoligise in advance- the lady on reception with short short blonde hair, the lady with bob length blonde hair and the girl whose name begins with 'O' think it was Othellio- unsure but they are excellent stand out members of staff.

We stayed on a Saturday night & were very pleased with the hotel. We had a car & drove in to the city to eat, there is/are restaurant(s) within walking distance of the hotel, but I don't know how easy it is to get into the city without transport. We had breakfast which was good value & saved us stopping on our onward journey, although we were disappointed with pre-packed croissants (maybe this was just because it was a Sunday morning). I was travelling solo in the middle of a heat wave, I had just come from Lourdes where everyone was very unfriendly. Came to this hotel and what a refreshing change. The staff were very helpful, opening the doors while I rolled in my suitcases, advising me on a place to eat supper. This hotel is convenient to train station. About a 10 minute walk. It is about a 20 minute walk to the fortress from here. The reception was good, elevator is very small and can barely fit 2 people with luggage. We took the stairs unless we had luggage. We had an updated room on the third floor and a nice terrace. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were more firm than I like. I was not able to get the water in the shower as warm as I liked, so I had a refreshing shower. The shower was updated and clean. The breakfast was an additional 7 euros. There was orange juice, croissants, yogurt, fruit, sausages, cheese and a lots of jam and cereal. Checkout and in was very easy. I would have given it 5 stars as it is a good value, if the water would have been hotter.

We stayed one night in a triple room, which was not overly large but certainly big enough for us - we weren't in our room except to sleep at night. The beds were very comfortable and the room nicely decorated. The room was at the end of the hall (downstairs from reception) and very quiet. We didn't care for the giant window into the bathroom and the glass door on the toilet/shower area - I guess this is popular in Europe?, but there were 3 of us sharing the room so very awkward. Book a parking spot ahead of time, as there is not a lot of room in the car park, it's right next to the hotel. The grounds of the hotel were a big selling point for us - lush and green despite the summer heat. The breakfast was pricy (just a continental breakfast), but it was wonderful to eat on the outdoor patio, looking out at the grounds and fortress. Also, we loved the pool. We were about 3 weeks into our holiday and the temperature had been 38-42 Celcius much of the time, so it was a delight to check in and head straight for the pool - it was a good temperature. There are comfy lounge chairs around the pool and also some cabanas which looked comfortable. Of course one of highlights for this hotel is that it is right outside the fortress. We actually thought it was better (and cheaper) to stay outside the walls, as it's all lit up at night so makes for gorgeous views. We spent the evening rambling around inside the city walls (after the daytime crowds were gone) and ate dinner there as well, then walked 2 minutes back to the hotel, after getting a lot of great shots of the fortress all lit up. The next morning, it was easy to walk back to the medieval city to look around in the daylight, while leaving our bags in our room. By 10:30 or 11 am, the fortress was getting very crowded with tourists, so we went back to the hotel to get our things and were off to our next stop. We found our overall experience at the hotel very enjoyable, comfortable and convenient.

The hotel oozes luxury and class all around. Even in these difficult COVID times perfection is still the norm. Of the +/- 10 hotels we stayed in during our 3 weeks trip through France, this was by far the best. Spacious and luxourious rooms , tastefully decorated. I can rave on about the comfy beds, the perfect AC, the sheets, the copious breakfast (served on the terrace of your room). The hotel is located about a 10 minutes walk from la cité (the medeiaval part of Carcassonne) If it's not too crowded you can even use the swimming pool of the other Franck Putelat hotel. We stayed at Hotel Donjon 8-11th March where we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who kindly spoke English with us when our limited French ran out. We arrived early from our flight and they helpfully held onto our suitcases until the rooms were ready, then moved them up for us. The rooms were beautiful with stunning views; comfortable and clean. The hotel bar is in the charming old original building and one of our fondest memories is spending time having an evening drink there after dinner. The hotel porter took us to meet our taxi on our way home and stayed with us until the taxi arrived; the porter was friendly and chatty, telling us about winters in the nearby mountains/hills. You couldn't ask for a better hotel location for the old city and stepping out the front door each day was like being transported back in time. We'd stay again in a heartbeat and hope things settle down so we can travel again and return soon.

Favourable cost to quality ratio: nice room, well equipped, good breakfast, parking inside the premises. Excellent location: in the outskirts of the city, but very close to La Cité (5-minute drive) and well connected to all roads and highways. Very good balance between privacy and personal contact. The guests can steer it according to their taste, mood or need. If you intend to spend most of the time there, the room has no views, but the terrace with the swimming pool (25 degrees) indeed has. In any case, that is not what we came here for. Very remarkable landlord and landlady, BJ and Iris: attentive, professional, caring. They can provide a lot of information about touristic sites, routes and restaurants. Self-made jams.

I had a very unfortunate event just before arriving at this hotel - I had my wallet stolen while traveling from Toulouse to Carcassonne. I found this out right after checking in and was totally in shock. Catherine & Jean Michel, the owners of the hotel, were super nice and helpful - they consoled me and helped me to contact the information desk of the train station as well the police etc. I am extremely grateful for their kindness when I was in a desperate situation. My incident aside, my room was very spacious and clean with a breathtaking view of La Cite through my window. I found it very nice that my room had a Nespresso machine - I could have a nice cup of espresso while getting ready. The shower door was broken but they quickly fixed the issue once I reported. My room was on the top floor (where the terrace is located - the view from there alone makes it worth staying at this hotel!) and there is no lift - I didn't find this an issue at all but be prepared if you have a big suitcase. Very nice breakfast, and their friendly cat might greet you at the reception. In short, I am very happy about my stay, and happily recommend this lovely hotel to anyone and will definitely go back there for my next trip to Carcassonne:))

This was my second visit to Carcassonne and second stay here. My partner has visited many times before on his own and always stays with Serge and Muryel. We wouldn't stay any where else when visiting Carcassonne. They are so friendly and welcoming and speak good English. The building is a converted winery and is just beautiful and full of character. Each room is decorated with a slightly different theme. The rooms and rest of the converted winery feature a fantastic and eclectic collection of art, sculptures and ornaments that have been collected over many years. Everywhere is exceptionally clean. Muryel serves a friendly and tasty breakfast in the dining room, serving a selection of locally made bread, cured meats and cheeses with croissants, fresh fruit smoothies and fresh tea and coffee. They give good recommendations for places to visit and to eat. The medieval city is just a 5min drive away and Carcassonne airport is just a 15min drive. The lake is just a several min drive away and is a lovely day out. You can also get a train from the new town (next to the medieval city) We visited Narbonne for the day and it was lovely. You can also go from Narbonne to Gruissan by bus/taxi to see the beautiful beaches there. We hope to return next year with some of my family who I know will also love it here. Would certainly recommend Domaine de Marseillens to anyone.

I stay in a lot of hotels, and a lot of the time I'm a bit disappointed by properties that are highly reviewed. They just aren't as "good as their reviews." But not this property. La Maison Vintage is a terrific small hotel. The owners are remarkably friendly and accommodating, and will likely great you glass of wine. The breakfast is the best I've ever been served in France, with first-rate meats and cheeses, breads, cereals, fresh juice, etc. The rooms are very large and sport an interesting "modern art" decor. Large well equipped bathrooms as well. They have a lovely garden and patio in the back, where breakfast is served. In the front parlor, a refrigerator with bottled water and such is available for free to guests all day. None of this is obvious from the street, however, where the property looks extremely ordinary and, perhaps, misplaced! We did find free parking right in front. It is a relatively long walk to the medieval city (more than 20 minutes), but very worthwhile and pleasant if you have the time and energy. Otherwise, it would be possible to drive and park closer to the old city. The new city, where most of the stores and restaurants are, is about 10 minuets by foot in the same direction.

There were 8 of us in all so we opted against breakfast, eating out - mainly becasue there were so many and for a coulple breakfast is good but for fussy teenagers it's a waste and the last time we ate there was in summer so it was nice to sit out and watch the workd go by with views of the city walls. The pool wastn't open when we got there but then they kindly opened it (we're british so when they think it's cold in Carcasoone we think it's quite warm!).
