Very good facilities, Villeroy & Boch's bathroom and Hansgrohe faucet, clean and sanitary. Special thanks to the local service team for their enthusiasm, generosity, and handsomeness to help guide the way and introduce the use of parking facilities coupons, free luggage storage on the last day. Breakfast was very cool although it had no meat. The waiter was a bit busy at some times and needed to chase for coffee and tea, but overall it was very good. 100% recommended. The disadvantage is that the location is a little farther than 1.2 kilometers from the back of the castle to the old city. The parking lot is cool below the castle. The price is very expensive. There is no temporary parking space at the entrance of the hotel. The slight inconvenience of luggage is that when you leave your luggage and drive away, you drive back to the occupied taxi parking space to temporarily take your luggage.

I really like a hotel! Location 10 minutes walk from Haymarket Railway Station, the hotel is surrounded by clean, quiet, opposite the IT company's office building, next to a supermarket, bus station, and a small square for walking. Edinburgh is not big, Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh University, etc. are walking distance, quaint city, like Edinburgh. The hay train station is small and quiet, with a direct tram to the Edinburgh airport at the door, and easy access from Haymarket, which is so crowded and noisy as Edinburgh's Waverley train station. The rooms are not small, like the complimentary Twinings tea, coffee and cocoa, which tastes good. This hotel should be a chain of French Mercure, the guests are basically Europeans, no nationals.

Stayed 5 nights in a second floor appartment. Pre visit communications with Destiny Scotland were very good. Excellent location near tram stop and close walking distance to New Town and Princess Street. Appartment was clean, well furnished and supplied. Bedrooms on the small side but beds were very comfortable. Decent sized lounge/kitchen diner. No sign of original features/beams, but good position at the front of the building. Appreciated the luggage storage in the basement (the code used for building./appartment was usable until midnight for the luggage store on the day of departure). Rubbish was collected every couple of days, along with a check on loo rolls, etc (and dishwasher was turned on for us). A few noticeable paint chips and stains from previous visitors could do with some minor repairs. No plug in the kitchen sink and .most channels on the TV didn't work properly, but we spent limited time in the appartment so these points weren't an issue that we needed to raise during our stay. Overall it was an excellent base and would recommend. .

We stayed in the superior studio on the ground floor for 5 nights. It was very spacious and had everything we needed. The studio had two TVs the one in the lounge had Spotify, Netflix and BT sports which was appreciated. The location was fantastic, located to all the major attractions with Edinburgh castle just a 5 minute walk away. From the reviews on their website I was expecting more street noise but it was actually really peaceful and located on a very quite street. It had modern kitchen equipment but had a bit of an issue working the oven, but the maintenance team were very efficient. Had good sized mirrors and storage. One criticism is that it didn’t have any cooking essentials, so we had to buy oil, salt & pepper etc. It was a very positive experience which we would recommend and would stay at again.

Three friends visiting for the festival - our basement apartment was perfectly and centrally located near haymarket, but not too noisy. Huge and really well equipped and with 2 bedrooms, each with a sofa bed and also 2 bathrooms. All that you need, including iron, 2 hair dryers, a few toiletries and tea coffee milk etc to get you started or tide you over for a couple of nights. Plus lovely big kitchen dining living area. Highly recommend and was great value for the standard of finish and the fact it was the busiest weekend of the year! Would recommend and will return.

I booked a a night within the hotel on Halloween as we had booked a walking ghost tour within the city. It was a bit of a walk down to the Royal mile taking about 25 mins but as it was dry it was ok. The hotel was fantastic, the reception staff were lovely and very helpful. The entrance lobby was warm and clean, very inviting. All of the corridors were very well maintained, clean and beautifully decorated. Our room was very spacious with a queen sized bed, seating area and a good sized bathroom. The room again was nicely decorated and well equipped. Due to the restrictions the hotel restaurant was closed but we were allowed to order food into the hotel and the receptionist even pointed us in the direction of local shops. I would recommend the hotel and will most probably stay again.

The hotel location is very good, very close to Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street, it is a little far away from Royal Mile Street, but can be reached on foot, the town is very suitable for walking. The hotel implements unmanned management, and you can open the door and the room door yourself according to the password you check in. We are a family of 5 staying with children and living suites. The rooms are large and clean and well-equipped. You can cook your own meals. Tableware and pots are fully equipped (but I do n’t see a microwave). We are accustomed to the British diet. The house even provides equipment such as vacuum cleaners and washing machines, which is in line with our home habits. The price is slightly higher, but for the case of five of us, it is still a lot more cost-effective than booking two single rooms, especially it is really good to be able to cook by ourselves. In particular, we need to remind everyone that the hotel will send you an email 7 days and 1 day before the check-in, which will contain the room number and password for the check-in. If you booked on Ctrip, because they may have booked through other channels, the reserved mailbox is not ours, we cannot receive the mail, we must contact Ctrip customer service one day in advance, get this information, and then Can stay. Because the apartment is unmanned, it will be inconvenient to communicate if there is a temporary problem.

My daughter and I stayed here for six nights in August 2022. We booked months and months ago, and watched the reviews go back and forth until our own stay. First off - the good! 1. The location is perfect. It's an easy walk (15-20 min) to almost all of the big attractions (the castle, the royal mile, the Grassmarket, even Newtown. The tram runs from the Haymarket train station, which is nearby, and there is a bus stop nearby for anything else. There are plenty of restaurants and small grocery stores nearby, as well. 2. The staff is wonderful. They were all smiling, helpful people. I asked a question one day, but they didn't know the answer right away. Not long later, they took the time to email me what I needed to know. 3. The guest lounge is a wonderful addition. Yes, it's a little tired, but very comfortable. They also have a nice little outdoor courtyard. We loved the honesty bar, but we never used it because it was cheaper to pick up our own drinks at the grocery store down the street. 4. Our twin room was very spacious and comfortable. The bed linens were clean and soft, and we slept well. OK, now the bad. I really hate to say anything negative because I don't want to do any damage. But I rely heavily on the reviews of others, so I think some honesty is necessary. 1. The bathroom was tiny! The sink was so small the the only way to get water into the kettle (or water bottle) was to fill a tea cup and pour it in. The bathroom came with a towel warmer (which wouldn't come on) and two bath towels. We had no hand towels for drying our washed hands, and no where to hang them, anyway. I would have appreciated a hook for that or for my clothing during a shower. The lighting in the bathroom was very poor, so there was no ability to apply makeup in the bathroom (not that there was anywhere to set down a makeup case, anyway.) 2. The window only opened a small way, and there were no fans in the room. It was terribly hot when we were there, so we had to leave the curtains opened at night to get what little airflow we could. As our window overlooked a courtyard, we gave up all of our privacy in favor of fresh air. 3. Everyone else has already mentioned it, but the room is definitely in need of refurbishment. The wallpaper was discolored, the mattresses were thin, the TV was super small. 4. This is perhaps the only thing that really bothered me. The door had only the basic lock. There was no second lock, deadbolt or even a chain. The main door to the hotel is always open, and often there was nobody at the front desk. It would be so easy for someone to come in, head upstairs, and push their way into a room. We felt the need to put our heaviest suitcase in front of the door every night to feel secure while we slept. Would I stay there again - yes, I would. The room was inexpensive compared to others in the area, and the location was worth dealing with stained wallpaper. It would be lovely to stay in a nicer hotel, but I would not like to pay twice as m

Hotel was well located and very clean inside. Rooms made up daily. Breakfast was ok. Odd smell in bathroom - think the drains are not right. Main issues - bathroom extractor fan continuously on -annoying. The doors to other rooms slam noisily and some awful motor/generator out back of hotel also causing constant noise. Hot rooms; window only opens a crack. Overpriced for what is essentially a marginally polished premier inn.

We stopped here for the night as had an earlyish flight out of Edinburgh the following morning. The rooms are quite dated, but ours was very cosy and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal sitting in the bar, which was full of locals enjoying a drink or a meal, many of them with their dogs. (We're dog people so that made us very happy!) The food was good and the service friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and good value at 8.95 each. Would definitely stay again next time we're flying in late or flying out early.

Reception staff fantastic. Location perfect for the purpose of our visit to the military tattoo. Hotel a bit tired and dated , carpets could do with cleaning or replacing . Allowed bed very spacious and comfortable , which is just as well as we had booked a twin room and we' were allocated a double. Bar staff alot to be desired, allthough good at up selling ! got to the bar for last orders when staff were serving other guests to be told they were closed and to request room service. Great upsell for hotel as costs more ! Disappointed as staff could have served us our 2 drinks to take to our room while serving other guests .

Aesthetically the hotel was a 5/5 if you overlook some of the minor building repairs that potentially are needed. As an older building you can understand this though. Major gripe was the missing shower door which made shower time messy time. Also meaning we had to use our towels to mop up the floor which leads us onto service. Mopping up would not have been an issue if replacement towels were provided considering we had placed them in the shower as indicated on the notice. So moaning over, the room was nice, good tea and biscuits - nice touch. The bed was annoyingly two singles pushed together leaving a crack in the middle. And don’t even start me on the blind that didn’t keep any light out. We now know Edinburgh is lovely at 5am thanks to that wake up. Bar and restaurant was brilliant and the decor was very eye pleasing. Would we visit again, hmmmm, quite possibly BUT those little touches would make the venue so much better. Eh up, there is also table tennis advertised, we didn’t find it, perhaps it’s a magical table and we didn’t have the spell?

This hotel is historic and grand, I highly recommend it. Was once the Harbor Master's house for the port of Leith and it truly holds all of the charm of a historic building, but with many cool upgrades! The area is really charming, just off the water and a fairly quick bus ride to all the downtown sites. Every single member of the staff from the restaurant, to housekeeping to the front desk really went out of their way to be kind, helpful and attentive. This was a trip of a lifetime for me and they truly made my visit to Edinburgh all the more. I highly recommend The Malmaison. Thank you so very much for an excellent stay.

Important things to say three times! Even better is a kettle. At night, there are young ladies and sisters walking in the corridors and drinking very high. This is the case for youth hostels, but they sleep well at night, not particularly noisy. The room is small hhh basically three people walking around are particularly nervous ... but this price is OK!

The check-in was very comfortable and the service was very good. The suitcase code of the day was forgotten. The younger brother at the front desk patiently ran two times and tried to help us open! The hotel is very beautiful and has an English manor! But to get used to the inconvenience caused by old-fashioned objects, the faucet of the washstand is separated from cold water and hot water, which is a little inconvenient. Free bed for us, breakfast is more traditional English, but very nutritious! Afternoon tea can also be experienced!

How should I put it, I found that it was a three-star hotel with a three-star price, but I lived in a five-star experience after entering the door... The front desk of the hotel is very friendly, and the room in the corner of the corridor is arranged, which is clean, and the room is beautifully decorated and stylish. The beds, wardrobes and workbenches are all made of wood and have a bit of an old taste, which is very similar to Edinburgh. This is not my dream room! You can see the street view and the castle at the same time, and the bathroom is huge, which is bigger than expected. Snacks and drinks in the room are free to eat. Unfortunately, because the room was only booked for one night, I moved to another hotel next door the next day. Originally just wanted to experience it, but my friends and I miss this room all the time. The hotel's breakfast is also good, and it will be cheaper to book a room that includes breakfast directly. There is also a special small room for luggage storage in the hotel, which is very reassuring! Great start to the trip! To write a small composition praise!

The Hilton brand is going downhill, and has lived in countless Hiltons from home and abroad. Every time you come to the United Kingdom, there is always a city that will arrange to stay in Hilton. Each time it ends in disappointment. 1, location, directly opposite the Scotsman Hotel, the spiral staircase next to the Scotsman Hotel can lead to the train station. If there is a large luggage, it is recommended to go out at Plantform Exit 1, there are lifts and escalators, and exit to the right Walk and turn right again for two hundred meters. A 10-minute walk from Royal mile, Edinburgh Castle, and Whisky Experience Center, these three are together! About 12 minutes walk from Calton Hill, which is different from the three attractions above 2. The housekeeping was just rubbish. On the first day of arrival, there was no mineral water in our two rooms, and the two rooms were not the same size. The one we lived in was very small. Shower gels and shampoos have obviously been used, but they have not been replaced! !! !! 3. The hotel design has serious problems. Please arrange a room for -3. We must first take the stairs to the second floor, then cross the other two third-level stairs, and then take the elevator down to -3. Rao's head is dizzy and the box Not easy to mention ~

Hotel just fine! However, 24 hours after I made payment on the first day of booking another hotel on Ctrip, Ctrip sent an email to inform the hotel that this room type was full. When I booked again on the same day, I found that the hotel can still book the same room type but the price has increased by 20%. After paying again , Ctrip still notified 24 hours that the room type is full. On the third day, continue to pay attention to the room type and still be able to book. Ctrip knows that the hotel of this room type is out of room. I wonder how much liquidity they can get every day this way? I really doubt that I have chosen a financial company to book the hotel!

The University of Edinburgh student apartment is in the old town, very safe and quiet. It looks like a newly renovated building. The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't know how to turn it off, and the sound was loud, so I had to pull out the card while I was sleeping. Floors felt like I could fall through and the tub/shower combo is about a foot and a half off thr ground and slick. I almost fell twice getting out! There is no ac and the room are stuffy and hot. The wifi is spotty at best. I know hotels in the uk are older and most do not have ac but this one needs some work. A highlight is that they have a filtered water station for you to fill up your water bottles. So water, location and staff is the pluses for this location. Floors, shower and bed are awful.

This hotel is so good, why is the rating so low? The hotel has more than 200 years of history, although there is no elevator, but the equipment in the room is very advanced, the toiletries are all L'Occitane, especially mentioning that the bedside table has a radio that has been placed in the light classic is very soothing, lying down without having to watch TV like this The music is very comfortable. Breakfast bread milk fruit is self-help, other such as bacon sausage eggs can be cooked, especially Amway fried poached eggs super delicious. At the beginning of Prince Street, there are buses, trams and other public transportations at the doorstep, and there are small supermarkets and restaurants around. In the centre of Edinburgh. However, the hotel is divided into two parts. The rooms in the front building are old, they are old houses, the new building is in good condition, the heating is not adjustable, and the heating is not very good.

For people with more luggage, it is more convenient to live here than the Royal Mile, and the car can be driven to the door of the hotel

I booked this hotel to go to the tattoo I knew it was a no frills budget hotel but was not expecting how small the rooms were probably ok if travelling alone or maybe a one night stay, we stayed 3 night and were glad to leave the hotel, we were told that all rooms in this hotel are approximately 8x8 square basically a box room with a bed and a toilet and shower cubicle and nothing else no chairs no where to put things there is a tv in the room. But we did not use this the up side though is the location which is fantastic and close to everything, the staff know the problems and were exceptional in helping and understanding our needs, I can not fault their efforts and the rooms even thought a little ruff around the edges were very clean We did have a few issues with maintenance of our room the bathroom (if you can call it that) handle kept falling off and there was a piece of tape holding the skirting on Even as a budget hotel there should be certain standards followed

I had the separate house in the back and it was lovely, with a garden room downstairs. I picked the location so I could walk to Craigmillar Castle ruins. It was further than I thought, but worth it. The Park is lovely, and the B&B was very clean and nicely appointed. I would definitely return. Only think with all these lovely old B&B's, to consider is stairs, and you might be on your own with the luggage.

The hotel is newly renovated and the facilities are relatively new. Good location, easy to walk to city. The bedding was comfortable, but the double bed was a bit small. The little brother at the door greeted him in a Scottish skirt with special enthusiasm. I almost forgot something when I checked out today. Fortunately, they reminded me to help me find the bag, but I didn't lose it. Breakfast is just a regular English breakfast, nothing special.

Best bathroom in a hostel I’ve ever seen. Extremely clean with an adult respectful crowd so you can actually sleep.

Firstly, I don't like to speak bad of anywhere without reason, however this place as so much potential but needs someone in there to manage it and bring the best out of it. It's a 30 min walk to the castle, with bus stops right outside. The room was spacious with a comfy bed and a reasonably newly refurbished bathroom and free parking which was my reason for booking in the first place( because not many places have free parking) I decided to have breakfast included and this is where it all falls dreadfully by the wayside. When we got to the breakfast room, there were cereals on show, but no milk. The bloke who we had just passed in the corridor emptying the rooms and cleaning them came in to offer us a menu, he disappeared because he was also on reception but on returning took our order(although we asked for milk, none arrived, so we gave up on cereal ) no fresh fruit available either or juice( we did eventually get juice towards the end) We had the full Scottish breakfast( sure the same guy had to go and cook it, because he was gone for an age) when it came, it wouldn't have been fit for a child. The produce was really poor and terribly cooked, we were given white toast ( never asked for any alternative) and the cutlery was all tarnished and black. This hotel is not a 4 star hotel as advertised. Second morning it again was just the same guy running around doing everything( not his fault, he did his best) To summarise, I would use this place for ROOM ONLY, but steer well clear of the breakfast, not value for money. Hope that the potential gets recognised and someone gives this place a bit of TLC, could be great.
