After a construction project took longer than expected, my husband, daughter and I needed a place to stay for a few nights. As Chicago residents, we know a lot about the city, neighborhoods, and types of housing options available and absolutely loved our stay at the Roscoe Village Guesthouse. About the house/location: beautifully decorated and well maintained home in a fantastic neighborhood. Walking distance to many shops & restaurants, and a quick bus/train/Uber to other parts of Chicago (Wrigley, downtown, LP Zoo, lake, etc). About the amenities: well equipped kitchen, new linens in bathroom and bedroom, free laundry in basement, high quality bathroom toiletries. About the hosts: amazing to communicate with and made our stay delightful.

I rate this hotel as a three star but know that it has very good parts and not so good. Let’s start with the pros: Clean, modern, great fitness center (this is atop an athletic club). Both breakfast and lunch menus and food were good, healthy options. Bar has a sufficient choice for everyone. It was wintertime so we didn’t use the outdoor pool, but I suspect it is fun. While not in a tourist area, it is in a good location if you need to stop by a store to pick up something you need or forgot. Staff were friendly without exception. Rooms have ample space and everything you need. The rate is reasonable too, even with the $25 daily resort fee. In room coffee was good too and there is a small refrigerator. The cons: not a place for rest or quiet. The beds are very firm, too firm really to feel comfortable. I found myself tossing around quite a bit. On our first night, we awoke at 3 am hearing the workout room below. Someone was really jamming and they no doubt had a good session. It was loud enough that I could recognize each set. I mentioned it to management the next morning and it didn’t happen again. The gym is closed until 5 am so it was odd. Other reviews note this and I know that we were not dreaming. You can hear a lot of noise between rooms as there isn’t much acoustic dampening, but our neighbors were quiet once they got settled. Our friends stayed on the 5th floor, one floor up from us. They didn’t have the noise problem. Maybe you want to ask for a room on floor 5.

As a Chicago local, I’ve recently set off on a journey, with COVID in mind, to explore this beautiful city and find the true gems. In that journey, and thanks to the recommendation of a friend, I stumbled upon The Robey. Let me tell you, after this horribly stressful week of mine– The Robey was like a breath of fresh air. From the two phone calls I had with the hotel, with Sydney and Michael, the customer service was astounding. They were knowledgable, eager to fulfill my requests, and incredibly kind. Starting on the ground floor, there’s the Robey Cafe which is adjacent to the lobby and incredibly beautiful. The front desk staff, Celia, specifically, were super sweet and efficient and made sure I understood and could take advantage of every amenity my room rate included. Contrary to other reviews, I thoroughly enjoyed the customer service I received. On the second floor, there is a gorgeous mid-century modern workspace with tons of space to set up shop and hang out, while masked-up and socially distant, of course. I stayed on the 8th floor, in one of the King suites with a tub. The room itself was one of the nicer rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Truly incredible. And the view? was STUNNING. Watching the sunset with a glass of champagne was truly the pinnacle of my stay. In the bathroom, which was absolutely beautiful, they included a bathtub tray so that I could watch read a book while taking a bubble bath! While I personally did not check out the rooftop or the lounge, I am sure they were just as incredible. In short, I had an incredibly relaxing night and will be returning with more business, both for myself and my family/friends. The Robey is officially the go-to hotel.

This B&B was perfect for our intimate wedding! We rented out the entire house for our family to stay at for the weekend and they LOVED IT! The location is perfect (about 7 minute walk to Damen blue line stop) and within walking distance of the wicker park businesses/bars. Also, breakfast served each morning was great and they even prepared gluten free food for one of our guests. Laura (owner) is such a great owner and went above and beyond to make sure our wedding weekend went smoothly. Be sure to stay here if you’re looking for a Chicago neighborhood vibe!!

From the moment we pulled into the valet area until the moment we left, we were greeted by courteous and helpful staff members. The hotel room and common areas were very clean; and the breakfast was a perfect way to start our day.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and everything was perfect. We've asked for an upper floor an so they gave us a great room with city view on the top floor. When we arrived at about 5pm, the room was not ready yet but in just a few minute they gave it to us. The hotel is close to the "L" to the town center and from O'Hare airport. Really a great experience, for sure I'll come back. Just a couple of really minor issue. There's no TV in the room and the "reception" is inside the spa and is open at the store opening times. Once you know that, it's all right, you know what to expect.

A 3 week stay and zero complaints! My husband and I kept having to extend our stay and everyone was very accommodating. Grace, the front desk manager, treated us like family and we started literally referring to the hotel at the end of our day as "let's go home!" Grace worked magic again and again to meet our every need. The rest of the front desk staff is also very helpful and welcoming. There is even a well trained adorable little dog named Pita that greets guests. Our stay was the end of September into October and the lobby restaurant was closed but we could still enjoy relaxing there with an unobstructed view of Wrigley. Anthony at West End bakery on the street level made us excellent coffee (complementary) every morning and he is personable and efficient! The valet Tuisant is super helpful and friendly and looks great in his vintage converse low tops. The hotel is very clean and we felt the proper health precautions were taken to keep guests and staff healthy. The beds are very comfortable and our room was large and attractively decorated in a low key baseball theme. Fantastic floor to ceiling windows offered an awesome view of Wrigley and Clark street was still bustling despite Covid. All the non hotel restaurants were open and offer outdoor heated seating.

My friends and I were in Chicago for a weekend to hear some jazz at The Green Mill. Great club just a few blocks away from The Guesthouse. Our suite was a full 3-bedroom apartment, with well equipped kitchen (gas stove & oven, fridge, dishwasher, dishes, utensils), gas fireplace, balcony w/ bbq, laundry, 2 bathrooms. Couldn't ask for more. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was in top condition and very clean. This would be a great place for a long stay. Doesn't feel like a hotel, it feels like a home. It was about a 20-minute uber drive downtown to see the sites. There is a nice neighbourhood with a real "village" feel just a few blocks away with lots of pubs, restaurants, grocery stores etc. Everything you need.

My husband and I stayed for one night at the Wheelhouse Hotel in February. We were impressed by the helpful staff and stylish rooms. The decor was unique and colorful. The location is perfect for anyone who plans to attend a game in the summer. We noticed a large ice skating rink right down the road which could be fun in the winter. Some things to note: even though it was off-season, Clark St is very busy with many party bars. We could hear a lot of partying and yelling outside our window until early in the morning. If you can't easily tune out music and voices, you might want to request a room on the top floor and wear earplugs. You might also think about bringing a travel fan or something to create white noise. Our room was neatly decorated with black and white checkered tiles in the bathroom and a rainhead shower. I would guess that all bathrooms have barn doors that slide open on rollers because we could hear the door rolling from the floor above us. The barn door design takes up less space, but it isn't a quiet choice. One suggestion I have would be for the hotel to install simple hooks on the inside of the bathroom doors. Ours did not have any sort of lock. We had a king bed which was definitely on the firm side. The king bed does take up a lot of space in the room, and my husband hit his leg on the corner of the bed twice. (It takes some people a little longer to learn!) If you need a lot of space, you might want to select a different room. The lobby area is nice and relaxing. Lots of sofa space to read or drink coffee. Please note that the hotel restaurant is not open at this time. From what I could tell, it looks like it's going to be really awesome when it does open. There are plenty of bars and restaurants up and down Clark St. so it wasn't a problem for us. The hotel offers free Cracker Jack snacks (in a bag) which was appreciated. Parking -- note that the hotel does not offer any parking. I used the Spot Hero app to secure parking in the Addison and Clark garage which is located right down the street from the hotel. The garage is super nice and well lit. I paid $18 for 24 hours. Overall, we had a really nice stay at the Wheelhouse and hope to return when the restaurant is open.

The Chicago Hotel Collection - Wrigleyville provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Chicago Hotel Collection - Wrigleyville offers a pleasant stay in Chicago for those traveling for business or leisure. Boasting a convenient location, the hotel is just 6km from Rockwell and 23km from O'Hare International Airport. With Boystown, Anshe Emet Synagogue and St. Alphonsus Roman catholic Church all within a short distance, there is no shortage of things to do in the area. I had a race I was competing in Chicago for and the wrigley hostel was very close to the race which I'll give it the 2 stars for its general location. I called in to make my reservation about 2 months ahead of time and they charged me $281 for the one night. I had two friends reserve rooms there for the same night 2 weeks before the race and they paid half the price I did for the same thing. Next, came the parking which I was told was included. It was not and that was an additional $50 for one overnight parking pass. On top of that the power repeatedly kept going out in my room and no where else in the building, normally I wouldn't care but it was 24° and I wanted some heat in the room and power for my phone to keep my alarm clock ready. The good things were the general location the building was built and the bed was very comfortable.

Stayed here for three nights with my son while he looked at colleges. The location is great - right next to a CTA stop, so even on a freezing night in January, it was easy to get places. The neighborhood has lots of affordable places to eat and shop. It is a residential neighborhood as opposed to a touristy one. Our room faced a brick wall, but that meant no street noise. I liked that the room was a real suite with a door between the bedroom and living room. Too often places say they are a "suite," but it really just means there is a couch. I could get up earlier than my son and not bother him. And I love any hotel that provides robes. So great to have one to wear after taking a shower! The breakfast is basic - just coffee, juice, boxed cereal, toast - but enough to keep you going while you wait for your teen son to wake up (are you sensing a theme here?) Lots of places within a block or two to get a heartier breakfast, though. There are few amenities here. No business center, no place to use a computer or printer, no exercise room, no restaurant. But it is a very good basic hotel. Because the rooms are suites, there seemed to be a lot of rooms with a lot of people in them. When we arrived, there were several rooms on our hallway with their doors open and people running between them drinking wine and yelling to each other. I think the front desk said it was a bridal party. On the next two nights, there was a huge group of people in the lobby playing games and drinking beer. There is no way anyone else could have just hung out in the lobby. The staff did an excellent job at getting people to keep the sound down and get out of other guests' way, but still, a lot of big groups, so maybe not the best hotel if you want a sedate atmosphere. I imagine it is a lot quieter if you stay mid-week. I was supposed to stay at this hotel again in March, but had to cancel at the last minute because my event was cancelled the night before due to the growing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although I had passed the cancellation deadline, the staff happily gave me a refund. As soon as this lockdown ends, I hope to get to Chicago and stay in this hotel again!

There is a very popular restaurant for breakfast on the first floor of the hotel. The taste is good. You can watch the night view of Chicago on the top floor and take photos. It feels good to stay. I have stayed twice and walked to the surrounding attractions. Trump Hotel across the river

Let me start by saying that I was so looking forward to our stay at the Swissotel Chicago - for a very special occasion. And it was off to a great start when the bell man greeted us and escorted us to the front desk. But that was the end of our pleasant experience with Swissotel, even though I had called in advance to let them know this was a special occasion. We were greeted at the front desk by a cold and unwelcoming individual named Nicole Thompson. She was horribly rude and unfriendly. When I inquired about the bill because I was surprised it was more than anticipated from my online reservation, she seemed bothered with my questions and made me feel like I was being problematic, instead of just trying to get clarification. We left the front desk feeling very unwelcome and it left a bad taste in our mouths, but I wasn't going to let it damper the day and instead, looked forward to our pre-booked city view room... instead, Ms. Thompson put us in a room on the 4th floor directly in front of the elevator, which is neither a river view or a city view, but a concrete view of a roof of a building next door - and in the distance, a little sliver of the lake. Even thinking about it now upsets me so much. So we were left with a room without a city view, paying more than I expected, and didn't get the $10 per day credit for not using housekeeping service. I am so disappointed with my stay at the Swissotel and will never recommend it to anyone.

The hotel was good and had everything we needed for our stay. The location was great and ideal for exploring the city. John in particular on the front desk was really helpful and friendly throughout our stay. My only real criticism was that the hotel has a long was to go in terms of sustainability. In our rooms the coffee cups were disposable and even at breakfast the plates, cups and cutlery were all disposable. This is really unnecessary. It would be absolutely be possible to make these all things that can be washed and reused. In addition we were told that if we were happy to reuse our towels we just had to hang them up. Despite doing this, they were replaced every day, We would have been happy to use the towels to be more enviornmentally friendly but weren't given the option.

I recently visited The Blackstone for my second stay. Since I was alone this time, it allowed me the chance to focus on the quality of my stay in itself. During such a strange time as the COVID-19 pandemic in the US, and searching for a new home in the Chicago area, comfort and solace is hard won. I was able to have it, in part, because of the beauty of the hotel as my lodging. The rooms at the Blackstone are comfortable and even luxurious. If you can, try to stay in one of the rooms that allows a view of the Lake. The sunrise from the hotel is magical and truly relaxing. The amenities of the hotel are also fabulous. Restaurants, shops, Navy Pier, museums, Grant Park, Millennium Park, and other activities are all comfortably walkable from here. The Blackstone is artsy and gorgeously whispers its significant Chicago history to its guests. The staff in the hotel are its best secret, though. At each service point, the Blackstone staff was professional, helpful, friendly...even to the point of conversation about the local scene. In particular, I would like to thank Lilly for her help on the day I checked in, times I came to the desk for snacks and information, and even on the day I checked out. Her work is an asset to the hotel and its brand. Thank you for a great stay!

If you are staying to visit someone in Rush hospital, this is the place to stay. There is a parking garage 50 feet from the hotel with overnight rates cheaper than the hospital hourly rates. I walked two blocks to the hospital through a good neighborhood with no issues. They also had a shuttle if the walk is too much or weather doesn't permit.
