|3.23km from city centerEight weeks...that is how long we stayed at this hotel. We thought it was ok at first. Then we started noticing shady characters hanging around. This is because some sort of charity has made a deal with this hotel to house troubled people. Also the hotel has made other deals to have work done on the rooms, lobbies and other common areas. The ”contractors” hired for this work bring their friends and children to the hotel to ”hang out” while they work. The of course there is the element of crime. It is happening on the premises and the management and staff are indifferent with the fact that their guests are becoming victims of theft. Several cars have had their catalytic converters stolen from this hotel's parking lot within the last couple months. This hotel should be removed from the Marriott portfolio. While the housekeeping did their jobs and would clean about once a week, the hotel is suffering from sub par maintenance and shady ”renovations” . They did have basic breakfast. And when I say basic, I mean basic. This hotel is becoming a lost cause and will soon be only suitable as a half way house or other subpar facility. When you consider how many good reviews they get, you wonder...well I will post this review...see if it disappears. We did have our catalytic converter stolen and have had to put up with the nonsense we observed during our stay. I am sorry but, I would and will advise others to avoid this hotel.

|3.83km from city centerThe hotel was lovely. The room was very clean and provided all of the basics.
The staff was extremely accommodating and went to Great Lengths to make our stay comfortable. The front desk person actually helped my brother-in-law get a donut on his car after he blew out a tire. I saw consistent acts of kindness and consideration. Would very highly rate their staff.
Housekeeping was efficient and always made sure our towels were replaced as needed and the garbage bags were supplied when requested.
Rooms for able to maintain a cool environment despite very high temperatures outside. Internet worked well.

|8.75km from city centerBreakfast is general, the variety is less, the location is a bit biased, it is best to have a car, the parking lot is a lot, the room is large, the environment is good, very quiet, cost-effective

|0.32km from city centerWe always stay in this Best Western when we are in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. And almost always stay in a king suite. When we pulled in Wednesday afternoon we saw the sign that said Now Open and Newly Renovated. We checked into our room and you could see walking to the room they had new carpet professionally installed. In the suite itself new carpet and new window dressings again that looked professional installed. But I think to save money they painted themselves. There was paint on the wing back chair and the desk chair. Along the door frame was overlaid paint. The plug socket near the bed didn’t have a covering on it. And the bathtubs plug was lying on the side of the tub. Not sure why it wasn’t in the drain. The water in the kitchen sink was a drizzle. I know with Covid things are thought right now so we will give this hotel another try when we go to Texas again.

|3.2km from city centerFirst, the good points. Extremely nice people working here and the place was clean. It was quiet during our stay. There were some disappointing points as well. (1) When we arrived for a scheduled two night stay, the room airconditioner was set at 82 degrees. I understand saving electricity and set my own home thermostat higher when no one will be home, but we did arrive at our expected time and the thermostat should have been adjusted down. The room was too hot to stay in and took over an hour to cool to a tolerable 77 degrees.( Probably I should have just opened the room fridge and allow it to cool the room. After all, the pint of milk and water bottles I put in there were frozen solid the next morning.) (2) We were given two bath towels for three people for three nights. We expected more to be delivered the next day, but no housekeeping was done at all. No more towels, no coffee pods, no emptying of trash. When I asked, I was told there was no housekeeping on the weekends. Would have been nice to know that before we had booked. They did keep some more threadbare towels I was able to pick up myself at the front desk. (3) The bed linens were comfortable enough for the two queen beds, but very skimpy for the couch fold out bed. One pillow, a bottom sheet, no top sheet and a very thin cover. I was glad I had brought our granddaughter's favorite blanket. (4) As I said, no coffee pods were brought for the in room coffee for the second day. Agreed, this is never going to be a decent cup of coffee, but the caffeine helps you wake up. I was allowed to get myself coffee downstairs at the breakfast buffet area. We didnt eat at the breakfast buffet since it was $8.00 per person and I was already not impressed with the other offerings at the hotel. Hate to say this, but the buffet coffee was not too good either. I saw only one urn, so those who wanted decaf seemed to be out of luck. Splenda and sugar were offered along with a couple of kinds of coffee whitener. If you wanted half and half you were--once again--out of luck. There were several other irritations--broken this and missing that but it's not worth detailing every little thing. All in all, I was pretty disappointed in our stay at Holiday Inn & Suites McKinney-North Allen. A once great franchise has slipped considerably.
