Very comfortable and spacious room with bath, television, coffee machine, airco,... Very soft beds in which we had great sleeps! Very good breakfast, all classics were available (eggs, fruit, yoghurt, different sorts of bread, pastries, , meat, cheese, vegetables,... Some customers complained about noise coming from the street, but we didn't have that experience. We had a great stay and would come here again in case of a second visit. We recommend!

We took the bus from the bahnhof and made hard work of finding the hotel. We quickly learnt that the hotel was closer to the Univeristat bus stop near the tower. The hotel was fine for our needs. Our room fronted onto the street but with the windows closed at night we had no noise. There is a Migros supermarket nearby so we didn’t bother buying breakfast at the hotel. However there are lots of restaurants in the area. The road system in Basel bears no resemblance to a grid but twists in and around – interesting but a little confusing at times. There was a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Shower over bath. WE only stayed one night but affordable for our purposes. Wifi was fine. The price was right.

we have stayed 2 nights at this hotel, with our 2 kids, 11 & 15 years old. we got 2 rooms (style rooms). the rooms are big enough and quiet. the breakfast was fun and tasty. nothing missing. the hotel is very clean as well as the bathrooms (i didn't find myself in need to clean anything my self). the personnel of the hotel is just something extraordinary. they were all so welcoming and willing to help. the first night was difficult for me since the mattress is firm. so i mentioned it at the reception and they immediately said they will find a solution and that i should not be worried. when we came back the afternoon, they have redo our bed with an extra confort soft mattress on top. that was so sweet of them! and of course that was conformable for me. otherwise the location is very convenient since you can reach the old centre from the hotel. as well as you have the tram next to it and at a short walking distance few bus lines. perfect location! we were all enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend this hotel anyone visiting basel and the area. thank you very much for your hospitality and for being so professional!

We utilized Chase Ultimate Rewards to stay here on November 25 and 26th. We had two rooms with King beds, one for my parents and the other for my wife and I. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 4 pm and went to the old hotel to check in. The receptionist helped my mother walk us back across the street to check in at SET which was much appreciated. The second receptionist at SET was able to get us reservations for L'Atelier Basel, the hotel restaurant for the same night. Our rooms were a relatively large size for Europe. The toilet and shower are in different rooms but both modern. The rooms come with a black out curtain which is much appreciated for jet lagged travelers. The bed was a King but a bit stiff. Although we were on the street side the room was much quieter than we thought it would be. The largest downside of the hotel was the room temperature. Despite it being in the 40s in the evening, the room felt extremely warm or in excess of 70 degrees. The second night we left the window open all night which helped some but the room continued to maintain it's warmth.

The room were small, but VERY comfortable and affordable. The staff, ALL OF THEM, are so welcoming, friendly, helpful and kind. Great location, public transport and internet in and outdoor, are included! As well as discount in museums and other places. They are very well informed. You have phone chargers available to take with you while you are staying at the hotel, umbrelas in your room, the drinks in the mini fridge in the room are included in the fee, no extra cost! The best experience for me was how helpful they were with my suitcases. I had too many suitcases and I had to travel around in Europe and out of Europe and they allowed me to leave my suitcases there while I was traveling for free! Of course, I have to stay there back in Basel, which is a pleasure! This saved my life as I didn’t know what to do with them while traveling around. I am so grateful how well taken care of I felt. I had no plan to go back to Basel in 2020, but after this lovely experience at the Hotel Wettstein, I decided to come back there. So I look forward to seeing the lovely staff again in the new year. Thank you for the great experience so far!

While I am loyal to the hotels where I have a frequent visitor status (Hilton Group and Intercontinental Hotel Group) as these are not represented in Basel, I have a free choice, and for me Hotel Metropol is ym first choice. It is well located (2 minutes walk from the railway station; ten minutes from the city centre), it has friendly staff and most of the times I have been given a room upgrade. Rooms are clean, spacious and the facilities are great. The 8th floor breakfast room with its magnificent view deserves special mention.

It can be a little hard to find this place as it is located behind the Hotel Euler which is also the hotel you check-in at. (It's the same owners, just this is the more "budget-friendly" offering.) Once you know that, you'll have no problem finding it because Hotel Euler it is right across from the main train station and very easy to spot. Our room was on an upper floor and involved going up two or three steps from the floor where the elevator stopped. Not a big deal for us. Of course, to get to the elevator you felt a little bit like a rat running through a maze as it involved a couple twists and turns. The room itself was HUGE. Lots of space to spread out our things, seating area, and a large bathroom too. Makes me wish we were staying for more than a single night. As mentioned above, if you are coming in via train this hotel is very conveniently located. It also has fantastic access to the public transit system as well as it is within an easy walk to the main square. I think it would make an excellent base of operations if we were to come back to Basel. The style is very modern and might not be to everyone's taste, but it doesn't impact the comfort or functionality of the hotel. It was an added bonus that my wife's favorite color is green so the room was right up her alley. Staff treated us very well. Zero complaints.

We had a great deal for our stay at the hotel. The days we stayed in Basel for the Swiss National Day weekend were extremely hot, but the building and rooms were chilled with air conditioners, which is rare and precious in Switzerland. The swimming pool was big enough and cool. We used it twice during our stay. The location is very convenient, close to the stations of several tram lines. A few disappointments: The bar restaurant was closed (due to COVID-19?) and noise from cleaning a room above or next to ours early in the morning.
