I have to say I was way apprehensive about staying at this hotel (which was locked in based on a pre-paid 'you bid on it and win' transaction). My wariness was based on the preponderance of unforgiving critical reviews ranging from the outdated décor, malodorous-ness, soiled furniture, accusations of fleas and other critters in the rooms. Let me just say, my expectations fell below sea level, and I envisioned something heinous for my mother and me. But, when I walked into the lobby, I smiled a little. And then when I entered into our room (#333), I smiled even more and breathed a sigh of relief. The room was big enough and so was the bathroom with its wall-to-wall counter providing plenty of much-appreciated space for my endless bag-o-toiletries. A side table for in-room dining if you opt for takeout one night, a small fridge for storing leftovers, a desk with hotel stationery, a flat screen TV with ample channels, that's what you'll get in reality. It was not terrible folks. However, the universal comments about the granite bed are accurate. I averted that issue by bringing my own Memory Foam Mattress Topper, a 39.99 investment that I believed was totally worth it. Yes, it is not the Four Seasons, but neither is the price point. I got a fantastic deal of $115/night on the afore-referenced third-party site, and we personally enjoyed our four-night stay. It provided a pleasant base at the end of the day after we set out each morning to explore fabulous places like Malibu and the PCH, the Getty Villa, the curvy Mulholland Drive, Beverly Hills, and an excursion up to Palm Springs. I happened to like the location, which is in the gritty, but safe heart of Koreatown. So, surprise...its reception desk is staffed by bilingual (maybe trilingual) employees, attracts a Korean clientele, and offers Asian dining fare. If this provokes discomfort or dissatisfaction in you as a traveler, this is probably not the place to stay. Don't stay here either if your ideal of a hotel is to lounge, luxuriate and linger in bed, order room service with a Champagne breakfast, and work on your tan by the pool (I don't think there is one). A couple of tips: Valet is reasonable at $9/night, but I was able to find street parking along Oxford Street, 8th Street, etc. For lunch/dinner options when you prefer something within walking distance, I recommend: Pollo a la Brasa on Western Ave across the street. Damn son, as juicy a chicken as you will dig into, served with a fiery and delectable green sauce. Slurpin' Ramen - lots of ramen to be had in LA, but you can be first in line by just walking the two minutes it takes from the lobby.

Very good hostel, exactly what I read from the others' comments. It's very clean, well located, situated in a quiet street and neighborhood. It has a private parking lot that can hold up to 5 cars. Guests there are very respectful and the rules are very clear to anyone. It's just 10-15 minutes walking from the next metro station (purple line). There are no famous restaurants (from big franchise) around there, but it wasn't a problem for me. The rooms have closet, minibar, and air conditioning. As for any other hostel, bring your towel. The blanket are ok. No complaint about bed and pillow. That's what I expected, CLEAN, well located and quiet. I will certainly recommend this hostel!

“It was quite difficult looking for a Hotel for the dates we were looking at. Hometel Suites was the nicest hotel near DTLA that was affordable for 6 nights. Although there were mixed reviews, the renovation looked really nice online so I booked it. Upon arrival, the guest service agents were very kind & allowed us to check in earlier than allowed. The elevator is still under construction so we had to walk up. We were first given a beautiful room on the 2nd floor but wanted a better view so they gave us the same room on the 4th. The stairs were worth being further up. Overall, the area is quiet, there’s a convenience store and laundromat across the street with coffee & a vending machine in the lobby. It worked for us, it’s not the fanciest lobby but the ROOM is definitely top notch & the housekeeping was always on point. My only suggestions are: MORE than one pillow each on the bed, a softer mattress, better channels and for housekeeping to pay attention to small details when cleaning because Guests notice everything!”

Venice Beach
We are a family of 4 that booked a 1 bedroom suite with a sopha bed. On arrival only the main bed was made up and when I asked they said oh we don't make it up for you, you'd need to do that. Really and they knew 4 people were coming? Look in the cupboard they told me. We did and found 2 older sheets and one very thin acrylic blanket which didn't keep the kids warm and only one pillow. It was a futon couch that was very hard and uncomfortable. The main bed was also a very firm bed, but we did sleep just OK on it. The next day when the room was serviced very late, the beds were remade by what looked like a kid honestly terrible job. I had used the toaster/heater the night before which I found hadn't been cleaned since the last people, crumbs everwhere and all over the base of it dirty paper. So I left the door open to ensure they cleaned it. It wasn't touched and the crumbs all over the bench were still there. WIFI is offered at the hotel, we had one of the back rooms and could get some slow wifi if we stood in the corridor but not in our room. This was disappointing we never would have booked had we reaslised this. The TV was good and had lots of chanels to watch. Also had a decent enough kitchenette not that we used it. Overall the unit was clean. Overall this is a very old building, but very clean too and you did feel safe. It has a great roof top area to use and view the beach etc. The walls were thin and you could hear people walking around above your room as they are wooden. It felt more like a good back packers place to me. Maybe I'm just too old to stay there. If you were young and looking for something cheap then it will probably tick the boxes for you. We did have a decent enough stay. There was a mix up on us leaving the morning we were due to go out, I went and asked what time we had to leave, I gave my room number and he checked and said 11 am. Then when we checked out he said, no you actually booked for another night. Was not impressed as it wasted our last day. Position wise the hotel is on the front in the middle of the strip so it's a great position which is why we stayed there. However be warned, the whole of the front of this beach stip is lined with homeless people. You did feel safe during the day as there was so many people around, but at night time to us it felt pretty sketchy. If you are looking for nicer head more to Santa Monica area. Which was within wallking distance of this hotel.

The Brentwood Inn was a pleasant little retreat that we enjoyed a lot. We were there with friends for the weekend. It is located on a somewhat busy street and our friends were in a room on the street side which they said was a bit noisy. We stayed on the side where the front office was and had no noise problems at all. The rooms are pretty basic but nice. Nothing fancy. Not updated but not too old. Just what you need for sleep. The service though was what really stood out. The front office staff is incredibly nice and welcoming. The make the best homemade chocolate chip cookies! All day long. The front office is welcoming with a wood-burning fire to sit by and cute outdoor patio to have breakfast at. A basic breakfast is offered every morning on the patio with oatmeal, yogurt, pastries, juice, cereal, etc.

Not bad, the surroundings are very convenient. After two minutes of walking, there are Thai, Indian and Mexican restaurants in the three directions. There is a small supermarket opposite, 7-11, laundry room, you can buy washing powder with coins. There is also a dryer for only 25 cents and ten minutes, and the clothes can be dried without much. The staff member was a white aunt but not good at English but was very enthusiastic and guided me to use all kinds of equipment in the laundry room. It is very convenient, and there are no public security problems.

Did someone once say it's about location? This may be the best location of any hotel in L.A. Well, what does best mean? Convenience for me. One of the few places in L.A. where you don't have to drive, you can walk to a whole lot of things. Walk up the block you have Sunset Blvd - bars, clubs, restaurants, and upscale shops. Walk down the block you have Santa Monica Blvd - bars, clubs, restaurants, neighborhood shops. Another 5-minute walk past SM Blvd is Melrose Avenue - bars, restaurants, upscale shops, design industry stores. Walk another 5 minutes past Melrose is Beverly Blvd - bars, restaurants, the sterile but popular Beverly Center shopping center. Walk another 5 minutes past Beverly is 3rd Street - restaurants, cafes, quirky stores. Dissecting these streets are Robertson Blvd and La Cienega Blvd - bars, restaurants, cafes, upscale shops, art galleries. Walk 5 minutes west of the hotel, you hit Beverly Hills city limits - very nice neighborhoods for walking, jogging, biking. Walk another 20 minutes, you're in downtown Beverly Hills. You can take the free WH City shuttle to the center of Hollywood and explore there. Pick it up at the WH Library - 5-minute walk from the hotel. Only thing I wish the hotel had was more referals for local dog-walkers. I travel with my dog and met someone around the block from the hotel who was walking a couple of dogs. He hadn't walked any hotel guest dogs even though he lived around the corner. Knew the minute I saw him he'd be great for my Pit-mix. After talking to him, I arranged that he took care of Duke for the rest of my trip. You know how some people's body language says trust, love, in control, enthusiastic, knowledgeable. Duke loves him. And there are dog parks for Duke around here, too! I'll be back.

Every 2-3 hours I see a few cleaning ladies using elbow grease to maintain a sanitized establishment and thank you for that. I stayed at the Lexen after I was hit by a freight liner truck and went to the hospital. I didn’t want to go home to my family for safety reasons and I booked a room. Very very clean. I was so happy to feel like I was in my own clean home. No breakfast even though they offer it but it’s understandable why no breakfast at this time. Thank you for taking the fear out of my stay.

Grab the first fragrance! This restaurant has just opened, the whole is butterfly wind, really super cute! Overall it is very clean and the service attitude at the counter is very kind There is an outdoor atrium on the first floor, very comfortable, you can sit outside and have breakfast The room is quite spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet; there are vending machines on my floor to buy drinks. But it may be on every floor. There are some souvenirs and chocolates beside the counter. When I booked the room, I indicated that I needed indoor slippers. I wanted to say that I might have to ask for it at the counter. I didn't expect to see slippers beside the bed when I walked into the room. It was really sweet! I saw that there was a bar at the counter but there was no one. I asked my sister at the counter. They said that it was still under preparation, but it should open before the end of the year. I will give it a try when it opens! There is a whole foods supermarket nearby, the price is a bit expensive but the stuff is special and high-end, I haven't seen it in other general supermarkets There is a small massage pool and a gym. My boyfriend went to work out. He said it was clean. All in all I like this restaurant very much. It is a very period now, clean is the most important thing! Push!

I used to live in DTLA and decided to return for a staycation at my old stomping grounds. The current Covid environment has made many of us explore our own backyards, and I had always heard amazing things about the Los Angeles Athletic Club and it’s Gentleman’s Club Members only vibe. We drove up to the front entrance of the LAAC and were a little confused as how to enter but spoke to Brian, who was clear, concise and explicit on how to get to the parking garage and how to buzz to be allowed in. Brian also helped us with check in, dinner reservations and more. Give this guy a raise! Our suite was quite impressive – a beautiful and spacious suite with fabulous views of the DTLA skyline from both the living area an the bedroom area. For me, the highlights were the outside restaurant which had a Tiki meets country club feel. The level of service from each person was spectacular. From the person who greeted us, to the persons who seated us, to the person who served us- they constantly were checking in on us to make sure we were okay WITHOUT being too obtrusive or overbearing. Some places check in on you so often that you cannot enjoy your meal! But here, the staff found the right balance. Food and cocktails were brought quickly and everything tasted great too! Also impressive was the Health Club which was also outside. In fact, this almost felt better than a “real” gym because it was outside with fresh air, cool breeze and killer views. Most importantly I felt safe here. Signage was placed in appropriate area and hand sanitizer was everywhere. I strongly suggest you treat yourself to this hotel. Los Angeles Athletic club gave me a VIP Private Club feel and level of service without it feeling too cold or impersonal. We would up staying an extra day because we loved the hotel so much, and we will certainly return.

We were here for our 25th anniversary and our first stay in this gorgeous place. We spent the day across the street at Will Rogers Beach. We parked the car at the Bed and Breakfast and walked the block and a half to the beach. Where else can you do this? In the trunk of our car, we had umbrellas, chairs, and a cooler already prepared from home for our day in the sun. The room was beautiful and airy. The public spaces looked cozy and once we are able to use the spaces, a book and ice tea are calling me. We felt the staff did an excellent job of keeping the place spotless, clean, and sterilized. We've stayed at Calamigos Guest Ranch multiple times and have never been disappointed. It's a truly special place where it's easy to be as relaxed or as active as we choose to be on a daily basis. We were planning to go back for spring break this year with our teenagers, but thanks to the coronavirus, our plans changed. I was so pleasantly surprised that we were offered a total refund, despite having to cancel within the cancellation window. I suspect this could be in part due to the fact that we are repeat guests, but it also shows a lovely human approach to the problem during very trying times for the hospitality business. This makes us want to return to Calamigos as soon as we possibly can---to spend our money supporting the wonderful people that work at this incredible resort. It's obvious that they care deeply about their guests. Special shout out to GM Sara for getting back to us so quickly via email during what I'm sure are stressful times. It's will be our pleasure to suggest this magical place to everyone we know.
