To begin, Nepal isn't New York City nor London so don't expect that kind of lodging here. This might be best for the more adventurous traveler. The best part of Truly Asia Boutique Hotel is the staff and CEO, Ram. The whole staff was very helpful and they take their cue from Ram. I saw him every day and he asked all of the guests in the lobby and restaurant how they were doing and if they needed anything. When was the last time you had an experience like that? He really went out of his way to make my stay there as wonderful as he could. The restaurant, Laughing Bird, serves up some great food but be prepared to wait for it because each meal is prepared separately. No pre-cooked rubber chicken here. The restaurant sources the best ingredients possible and prepares them under the best conditions. Ram, my hat is off to you and your staff.

Stayed at the hotel with a friend for 3 nights before a tour of Nepal and had a lovely stay. The Location/General Hotel Layout The location of the hotel was ideal and on a side street just off the main road in Thamel. Whilst the decoration of the hotel is not to everyone’s taste (and quite chintzy) we found it to be cosy, comfortable and clean and found the quirkiness endearing. Room The room was bright, clean and comfortable with little quirks such as a stuffed toy tiger on the bed (cute touch!) and funny signs that could be put on the door. The mini-bar (whilst more expensive than shops outside) was extremely cheap by U.K. standards and so we also utilised this. I’m a deep sleeper so did not hear any outside night although my friend (a light sleeper) did say there was some traffic noise but not too much. Staff All staff we came across were extremely helpful with reception especially being extremely pleasant and helpful (every time we passed they waved and said hello regardless of what time day or night!) Breakfast We were able to have breakfast very early if we wished which was ideal if we had to set off early that date. We just advised the receptionist the night before. Breakfast was also a good selection with a variety of options. Generally For the price we paid we found the hotel to be great in terms of location, value and comfort and would recommend this hotel to any visitor to Kathmandu looking for a well located, clean and reasonably priced stay. Whilst not somewhere to spend all day, we only used it as a base to sleep, wash etc and found it great.

I've stayed at Kathmandu Regency Hotel during my solo trip to Nepal in December 2019 for 2 weeks and found it to be ideal property due to location, hospitality and budgetwise. Rooms were sparkling clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very delicious and I wish it would be more diverse. The staff is super helpful and professional. Everyone speaks good English and I've met a lot of tourists from Europe there. They also organize all sorts of adventures around Nepal and professionally design the unique program for every guest that will satisfy his/her interests. Sujan, the manager of the hotel, is super organized and responsible and resolved all inquiries and issues fast and in professional manner. The location of the hotel is another great benefit of this place. It took me 8 mins to get to Kathmandu Durbar square straight out the door of the hotel and 20 mins walking distance to the monkey temple.

I had the privilege of staying at the Potala Guest House for more than a week with a team of 10 friends including myself and 9 foreigners. Our stay there was pleasant, fulfilling and full great memories of great staff members, their humble service and availability to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Located at the heart of Thamel, yet peaceful and spacious rooms facing gardens makes this property a desirable one. Its Operation Manager, Rinjen Lama, who has the joy of serving and highly professional in his dealing, is always available for the service of the guests. He has well-managed other staff members that they are always there for you to make your stay a lovely one. It has been just 3 days my friends left, but, one of them has contacted me and asked that we should book the hotel very early lest we may not get to stay. Additionally, their restaurant attract you for desirable cuisine with quiet and comfortable place. During our stay, we enjoyed almost every meal there. In regards to the price, you won't get such property and facilities in the price they offer. Your first impression will draw you there time and again. I have brought my whole family to stay there and my family also loved it.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Dom Himalaya for our first two nights in Nepal and were greeted upon arrival at the airport by a friendly driver who kindly waited after our flight had been delayed. The hotel was pleasant, its amenities were nice (a few plugs in the room didn't work) and the staff were hospitable. However, we were not impressed with the details provided by Khagendra Regmi for the tour operated by the hotel. We discussed the details and were led to believe that the payment was at our discretion and we only needed pay entry to the various sites which we visited. We asked to reconfirm the full price/how much money we would need and a price of appx. 3000 NPR was confirmed. We thought this was a good deal and were really pleased with Khagendra's guidance. However, after paying our driver 4000 NPR for the day (around 5-6 hours), we we only informed on checkout that the tour actually cost USD 55, plus whatever we wanted to pay our driver and the entry fees for each site. The price itself was no issue and we would have paid regardless, although it was very disappointing that this was not disclosed when we discussed the details. Khagendra's attitude when we appeared confused was very unprofessional, stating that this was clear from the outset (it was definitely not, as neither my girlfriend or I had any idea of the charge). We proceeded to pay the fee and leave the hotel with a a bitter taste and subsequently the hotel then cancelled our booking through booking.com. Whether this was coincidental or not, it meant that we were unable to leave a review and appeared suspicious based upon what had occurred during check-out. We are staying another night in Kathmandu and would not be inclined to return on this basis.

i had been in this hotel Royal Penguin Boutique Hotel & Spa Many Times.this time i mate Mr.Nepali, he is really a good guy and a happy person.i had stayed 3 nights ,i got chance only to meet him on my last day. i had ordered the breakfast as early as possible.however there was a group of guest in the restaurant, though he was busy still he greeted and spoke with me for some time. then he asked the waiter to take the order of mine,i was impressed,he might have worked in European Countries. one of the waiter took my order for the breakfast,he asked to me if he can bring the coffee at 1st or after the breakfast.i am impressed. lately what happen was anther person came just near my tables.he too ordered his breakfast. i waited until the group breakfast comes, later after the group breakfast wast served ,the waiter bought a breakfast of the next table, who came after me.in this case i was upset.however i left the restaurant without having the breakfast in the room. i shouted at Mr.Nepali, still he tried to convey me,that it was about to come and as i was in the lobby, the breakfast was out from the kitchen. i went to the room, after few minutes Mr.Nepali came to apologize and asked to make any kind of breakfast as i wanted,i again shouted at him.however i must'n have shouted at him.after all he apologized at me.my temper is high, after all we are an Indian. he had tried his best to do a best service, only because of my attitudes,i had to leave the hotel.another reason,i left the hotel because my friend offered a room near American Embassy. i would like to apologize the service team for shouting. he and his team has patient and does anything to make the guest happy, may be the kitchen staffs delayed my breakfast. however i would like to thank Mr.Nepali for his hospitality ,this kind of service is required ,i am sure the owner might have been happy with him.

Good location - convenient to Thamel but quieter. Staff are first class - always helpful. Comfortable beds are double size and provided with ample duvets/blankets. Flights to Lukla for my brother and I were easily arranged by the hotel staff as were taxis when needed. Laundry service is available at low cost. On arrival Ramesh insisted on carrying our heavy bags up to very nice 4th floor rooms and down again when our stay came to an end. Rooms are equipped with TV. Our stay began and ended prior to Covid19 becoming an issue. There are restaurants and pharmacies close by and all manner of stores selling a wide variety of household goods, souvenirs and trekking equipment and clothing. It was hard to say goodbye!

Thamel
Stayed at this nice little hotel for a total of five nights during a two week trip to Nepal. The hotel is in a back street location in the main tourist area of Thamel, about 20 mins from the airport. The surrounding streets are somewhat narrow and 'potholed' and a public bathing site is at the end of the street. However, there are many restaurants in the area, so choice is great if you do not wish to eat in the hotel. The staff here are lovely, very welcoming and always seem pleased to see you and always ask after your day. We returned to this hotel three times during the two week period and each time we were greeted like old friends. Our room was clean, tidy but quite compact and devoid of any storage , although due to our 'nomadic' itinerary, we were living out of our cases, so storage wasn't essential for us. There is no room safe. Note that there is a building site next door which seems to have some strange working hours.......with shovelling of debris late at night and early mornings being a little annoying. Obviously not the hotel's fault but may be worth requesting a room at the rear side of the hotel. We ate a couple of meals in the restaurant as well as the included buffet breakfasts and enjoyed the reasonably priced food. Overall, we enjoyed each stay here and would happily return. Note that most hotels and restaurants in Nepal add 10% service charge and 23% government tax to the advertised prices. Card payments also attract a 4% surcharge throughout Nepal.

Stayed in this hotel for three nights, a very good experience, highly recommended for everyone. Hotel location is good, located on the busy section of Tamil Street, but the hotel room is quiet, inside the garden. Hotel pick-up is very good, it is very convenient to contact Ctrip in advance to arrange. The hotel service staff were very good, especially travel desk boy Bijen Dangol, who was humorous and helpful, and booked a two-day rental car and bus ticket for us. When we left the hotel to Chitwan, we left at 6am, and the hotel also prepared breakfast packages . The hotel's breakfast is rich and varied, very distinctive. The hotel has an elevator, which requires the upper and lower floors. The rooms are not too big, but the price is not high, and the cost performance is still high. The hotel is suitable for children. There is a two-car parking lot at the entrance of the hotel, which is not easy on Tamil Street.

I stayed here for a week on business and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is new, modern, with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The hotel is well-maintained, has plenty of amenities including a spacious gym, wellness spa, pool and multiple options for food and drink. I had access to the M Club Lounge, which was always a pleasant experience and worth any extra cost. I usually started there for evening reception and would end up at the Raksi Bar for a final night cap and snack before bed. The turn down service was always a nice touch to come back to at the room. The Thamel Kitchen has the widest variety of food choices and was always a culinary experience. I didn’t get a chance to visit Edamame but will certainly do so next time. Finally I cannot say enough about the staff...they are INCREDIBLE! Every single one of them, and I interacted with probably close to 30 total, were all friendly and would go out of their way to ensure that I was taken care of and happy. I wish I could name them all but since I spent most time at the M Club Lounge I have to thank Neha, Dhiraj, Bimala and both managers Bijaya and Vicky for their consistently exceptional service. I am looking forward to returning again soon!
