Friendly reception staff, safe and convenient area, with malls and mini markets walking distance. However, when we got to our room, the maid wasn’t done cleaning and was almost rude telling us to get a different room because she wasn’t going to have time to finish cleaning before going home. We called the receptionist and he came up with keys to a new room. The rooms are very basic and need an upgrade desperately, but the bathrooms are clean. The curtains are grimy, lots of dust under the beds. The A/C works well and the showers are great. The breakfast buffet is adequate, but not great. Runny scrambled eggs, dry cakes, etc. It served our family fine, but there’s no luxury here.

The Hotel it’s not as good as it promised. The location, if you come on holidays, it’s not close to the beach. You really need a car for every moment of the day (beach/ lunch/ dinner). The place has a lot of traffic so it’s normal to take an hour to do 6km. The wifi doesn’t work in the rooms. The pool is too small for the size of the hotel. I won’t came back.

To start with the one obvious limit of the property, it is in Barra de Tijuca which is a modern, residential, somewhat ”American” part of Rio. Because of the location alone, I wouldn't have booked this hotel for the entirety of my stay, because in many ways, areas like Ipanema and Copacabana are a lot more interesting and buzzy. That said, this is really the only negative I would have about this hotel and for anyone who doesn't mind transportation, Uber is cheap and reliable in Rio, and it will cost about BRL 30-60 to get from the hotel to all the more ”iconic” parts of Rio depending on time (and therefore on traffic) and will take about 30 minutes off peak. The hotel itself is beautiful, almost resort like. It is fairly large, the building has a fairly strange shape with multiple wings, though this also seems to guarantee that all rooms will get a view of sorts (the hotel ideally overlooks the Ocean on one side and a beautiful and serene lagoon on the other side). Common parts include a nice and clean beach where the hotel offers loungers and umbrellas, a beautiful swimming pool with several areas (toilets and sunscreen provided), a spa, and several restaurants. I was staying in a Club ocean front room and it was great. The room decor is very nice, beautiful bathroom with separate bath and shower, very nice balcony with a coffee table and two chairs, nespresso coffee machine, bottled water, lovely local Granado toiletries. Rooms are quiet and bed comfortable. The lounge is very nice too with rooms to both sides, and services for breakfast and cocktail hour in the evening. I had breakfast in the main Tano restaurant which was excellent (multiple stations for omelette, tapioca, pancakes, green juice, etc plenty of fresh fruit, excellent pastries, etc), lunch at the Canto restaurant and by the pool (more limited version of the same menu) which was excellent. I also had dinner at Shiso, their Japanese restaurant and I'll admit that I was a little bit more disappointed there despite great review (food was ample but did not feel very authentic, was very salty, and the rice itself was not very good). Maybe I was there on an off day as reviews are, as I said, very positive in general. In addition to everything else, staff everywhere was excellent from managers pre-arrival to people I interacted with throughout the stay. All in all, in a sometimes hit and miss Rio hotel scene, and once one accepts the less traditional location, this is a really excellent hotel and one I'll return to with great pleasure. PS: very minor point: mini bar had no prices indicated and proved fairly expensive. Also note that there is a resort fee of BRL75/day which I did not think was very clear

Ive stayed in the basic room but I didn't expect it to be so small. The bed was big, but the room smelled of cigarettes. The Cable TV didn't work, always said the signal was bad. The bathroom is small and I found used bath soap laying around. I complained and they promised to clean the room, only to find out that the cleaning service is working once a week during the pandemic. The breakfast was really basic (which I understand as we are in a coronavirus pandemic and things are simpler) but the coffee was just ok (drinkable). The service knocked on my door twice one night trying to deliver somebody else's meal. Overall if I had personally payed for the room I wouldn't stay. However, I didn't have an option because it was a critical business trip and it was the nearest hotel next to the client.

We were given the worst room in the hotel to start with. No window, small double bed… after we complained they moved us to a slightly better room but on the first floor with a window overlooking a car park... There were various issues throughout our stay, such as, the inconvenience of moving rooms, carrying our heavy luggage around. Also, we asked to add one extra day (a 5th day) to our booking. But on the 4th day the key card stopped working because it had not processed through their system that our stay had been extended so we could not get enter our room. So that was another trip downstairs to join the reception queue to try sort it… The breakfast was good, there was a selection of 4 natural fruit juices and the food never ran out and was always fresh. The swimming pool was small and they had a 1 hour slot booking system if you wanted to use it. The pool was crowded; there were people drinking beer in the pool and the water was a bit dirty and too warm. There weren’t enough sun loungers for everyone despite the booking system. They give you beach towels but make sure you know you will be charged if the towel is not returned to them. Checking out was a problem too. Our Uber was almost there to collect us and the hotel staff said they needed to check our room before we could leave, to see if we had consumed anything from the fridge in the room. I paid for the outstanding charges and I told them we hadn’t consumed anything and any issues please call, and I left. She gave me a look as I was leaving as if I was doing something wrong. Finally, I am still waiting for the reimbursement of the deposit I had to pay (500 reais) at check in - it’s now been 3 weeks. While we were there, I heard a couple at reception complaining about their car - the car park at the hotel was apparently full and the owner did not want his car to be parked elsewhere. Oh and lastly: I would say good evening to staff at the front door every time I walked past and NOT ONCE was I greeted in return.

The location is super good, right next to the Marriott Hotel. The door is Copacabana beach. The breakfast is very good, rich, and the wifi signal is good. Especially amazing is the swimming pool on the 15th floor, invincible sea views, can shoot very beautiful night views, hotel facilities in general, rooms are a bit small, we set There are three beds in the double room, and the child may have urinated on the bed. The smell of diarrhea is very big. He changed rooms, and the hygiene is normal. The new check-in is because the hair in the bathroom has not been cleaned. Late, but only on the first day there is a bottle of free bottled water, breakfast meals can not be packed in advance, there is a small supermarket behind the hotel, overall recommended stay, you can score four points

Hotel located in the central region of Rio. From the Selaron Street. For anyone needs, from the to walk to the American consulate. Receptionist William is very educated and gentle, congratulations! The room was clean and smellful. The beds were good, the shower was excellent, and even a hair dryer, and a simple breakfast was made, but it was the best to meet our needs. I just leave as a comment for improvement: the room TV was broken (as our stay was small and we don't care we don't talk to the hotel about it, but I think it was important since it was one of the items offered in the daily). And another point is that, despite the cleaning, I had cheap bathroom furniture, perhaps because it was a little old, and it was generally worth the cost-benefit.

The single beds my children stayed were a little noisy and we stayed in a room without views to the street, the window was to the bottom of the hotel, the Wi-Fi works little, we don't like these details much. Does not meet my needs as someone from a western country - uk for the price of £100 a night. It would be ok if room cost £50 a night. Its better to spend £10 to £20 more for premium hotel. Good points 1.Concierge was excellent at checking in, talking to us, advice and seemed genuine. 2. English speaking 3. Breakfast selection 4. Customer service was good 5. Room was comfortable enough 6. Big tv 7. Nice pool 8. Comfortable bed Bad points 1. Room looked tired and not maintained eg paint work, shower finishing etc 2. Patio door to beach was simple construction and poorly made so didnt close tight hence very very noisy anf can hear road and sea 3. Certain parts of room arent cleaned throughout eg sides have dust 4. Gym very basic

Poor experience given the price paid which was $30 per night for a dormitory. The breakfast buffet is minimal and dissolved quickly by people who literally thrust it into their bags without any oversight, and from thereon it isn't replenished correctly for all the other guests. The guy responsible for making the breakfast was super rude too. The entire place isn't effectively cleaned either which is sadly the reason why I have to give 1 star. Even with the few negatives expressed, I was itching the first few days and on checkout I saw bed bugs on my linen. Honestly...the cleaning staff are well over 60 years of age, so anything that requires bending or stretching remains sodden in filth - notably the top rim of the shower. Further to the latter, though all the staff bar the breakfast guy were really friendly especially the manager, there were no towels available for new guests as they didn't have enough. Consequently they actually bought me a towel as a gift to keep which is exceptional hospitality, but still quite a mishap for everyone else. I was also offered cake and drinks adding to the already welcoming feel of the place, though further to that expressed already, the WiFi didn't really work on the top floor and functions poorly and sporadically throughout. I wish I could give a better review, but bed bugs is by default a 1 star review. Nonetheless, I give my sincerest regards to everyone at reception for the warm hospitality.

The staff, especially a super nice woman at check-in whose name I dreadfully forget, made my visit special. Everyone was willing and excited to help with anything I needed, including supplying me copious bottles of water to last me the week. When I needed a wheelchair-accessible taxi to pick up my wheelchair when it lost battery, the aforementioned woman was so kind and helpful for calling local companies and their drivers to find someone on a moment’s notice. Thank you! The rooms were definitely small and basic, but they were clean and in far better shape than most Ibis properties I would end up staying at while in Europe in June 2022. My electric wheelchair just barely fit through the door and into the space. Knowing that all I really needed at a hotel on my RJ trip was just a bed to lay my head on, the Ibis Budget provided me that, put simply. I also requested a room facing the interior apartment block area (i.e. away from the street), and noise levels were perfect for my sensitive ears. Traffic in RJ isn’t too noisy anyway, but I recommend these rooms for anyone in any case. Stays like these are what make me grateful to be a loyal newcomer to Accor and their rewards program. I very much enjoyed my stay, and for your wallet’s sake, I recommend booking here. And the location…mere blocks from Copacabana! Thank you!

The staff in the restaurant is so kind. Variety of food at cafe da manha. First level attention in general. Negative point: The TV in the room was old and the elevators were very small and old too. Sometimes not enough for people in there

We live near Rio, if we are going out for a night in Rio or taking Friends out this is where we stay! We book two rooms, One for us one for the nanny and children ! Spend the day by the beautiful pool, then walk the 5 minutes to the centre of Lapa in the evening! Its a fairly ”adult” hotel, but its suits us because of the location and the babies love the pool ! I would recommend staying here one or two nights to experience the nightlife, Spanish steps and the local vibe ! Breakfast is good but the ”oasis” factor is the big deal ! Downsides, checkin can be slow, but they promise me they are working on that, and for the price which is an absolute bargain most of the time makes this a no brainer ! The rooms by the pool are perfect and worth the little extra, the staff are great! I stay here once a month and cant recommend it highly enough ! Of course you get what you pay for, there is no parking, and it can get busy, but as someone who stays in hotels a lot, I recommend this as literally an oasis in the centre of the party district ! And its great value for money !

Many pluses staying here. Great location - around are restaurants, fast food (McDonald's, BK, Domino's, etc), shops, Super marts, Money changer and the Copacabana beach is a short walk away (5mins). Breakfast is really good with a wide selection. Staff were responsive, helpful and polite. Check in was easy and quick. The room I had did not have a view but no biggie. Mini fridge, TV, safe. Room is small but manageable. Hotel entrance is just at the main road, easy for Uber/taxi pick up and loading of luggage. Security is good - there's always someone present at the main door. Will definitely stay again if I return to Rio.

If you want to experience a Rio with plush amenities and excellent service, this is the place for you ! There are so many thoughtful touches through the rooms and the property at large. I'm currently enjoying a full breakfast at the restaurant overlooking the terrace and I had to take a moment to highlight the cars and attention of Henrique & Fran . They welcomed me warmly, assisted me with translations and overall quite attentive, for me these things really matter. Highly recommend this charming coffees farm turned into a lush abode.

We got an ocean view room with a hammock hanging by the big window to enjoy the beach view, watch the surfers and even the birds ….and many more. Compared to other hotels in the neighbourhood and in copacabana, Hotel Arpoador has real direct access to the beach (Ipanema)…just go through the restaurant and exit at the patio to the beach directly. All beaches in Brazil belongs to the public so in order to serve hotel guests better, this hotel has staff at the beach just outside their building, organising lounge chairs and sun umbrellas, only for hotel guests. First you go to the hotel reception to get towels and tickets for the lounge chairs etc. Once you show up on the beach with the tickets, the staff would quickly arrange everything for you. If you want to stay after their work hours (till 5pm), it is still ok, you just bring back the chairs and umbrellas to the patio. There’s always guard at the patio entrance. The breakfast included are wonderful (also have vegan options)….just wake up to the sound of the waves and enjoy your breakfast watching the morning mist among the mountains. If you do get up early, walk/run towards copacabana to watch the sunrise or do your morning yogas there (also a bunch of yoggies in the evening in the park area near the beach at the bottom of the fortress hill, around 6pm i think), or simply go up to the hotel roof top at 8:30am for free yoga classes. Free bike rental for two hours too. (Nice and easy bike lanes along the beaches) You can also go to the lagoon nearby, just go inland from the beach. Then enjoy a sip on the rooftop bar to watch the sunset. We had dinner also in the same restaurant (the only one) and it was ok (convenient on the first night after 5 hours drive from Paraty). Tried the other restaurants along the beach the next night (5 minutes walk, near Hotel Fasano), much nicer there. Staff are friendly and polite and answers a lot of our travel questions. We had a happy stay here.

The staff is so helpful and really care about their guests. They help you with everything. Especially ISABELLA was so nice to me, helped me scan some stuff. I presuaded it a lot! I think, it‘s a good place to base yourself in Rio. It‘s close to the beach and I never felt unsafe to walk around this area alone as a woman. There‘s enough space in kitchen area to meet new people. The rooms are a little narrow, but it‘s okay. Found everytime a free showe or bathroom and it‘s clean. The kitchen is not super equipped, but you have fridges and it‘s enough. Thank you, Solar Hostel😊

I was hosted in this hotel last weekend - 02 to 03/07/2022. I have contacted me, and Mrs Vanessa has answered me, she kept the forgotten pieces, and the next day she sent me for Sedex with great delight and sympathy, and I would like to congratulate her on the sensitivity and empathy shown by that person. All the staff very careful and efficient.

I opted for a bed in the 10-bed female dorm at Carneval. Cost me $90 with an official airport taxi but for this uninitiated female solo traveller I just wanted to take the easiest route for arriving late on a Saturday night. Very much a young backpackers place, you will party and you will drink here if you don't go to the 'English' bar across the road which is where I did go and had a grand time chatting to the bar staff who were a bit older than my fellow bedmates (who were all lovely, by the way). It's as clean as it can be for a quick turnaround place, free drinks between 7-8pm and the staff were just lovely. Helpful and friendly. Short walk from the beach. I felt safe wandering at night here and the Metro is a block or so away. Only tiny grumble is that the photos on tripadvisor are not of the Ipanema site; it's a lot, lot smaller!

Long story short our original hotel cancelled on us 2 hours before check out so this was all our agent could find night before carnival !! We were expecting more as our cancelled hotel was luxury . So this hotel is clean but very old smells of cleaning products spray and beds very uncomfortable. Pillows and bedding poor quality. The highlight was Edien on reception hearing our story he was very helpful in advising us and arranging calls to new hotel which our agency agreed to transfer us . So maybe if you want basic 4 star great location cheap but our expectations were higher .

Nice experience. It was a beautiful surprise to discover the place. The decoration is beautiful, the rooms very clean, excellent air conditioning. Also excellent kitchen service, excellent quality in general. I liked that they had a cowork space where you can work in peace too. There was very good attention and very good service from the staff, for example Alice and Fernanda, very nice and attentive to help. A totally recommended place.

It takes about 8 minutes to reach the Flamengo beach, about 100 metres from Catete Street (where you have many shops, supermarkets and restaurants) and also from the subtle of the same name. The hotel has a very good location, a very good location, a very good location, a very good location, a very good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, a good location, The hotel is located in the heart of the city centre and is located in the heart of the city centre. The shoppers always with a smile and the perfectly varied menu (fruit, bills, coffee, juices, tea, chocolate, inputs and classic eggs revealed). Some disadvantages: the air conditioner is on window, can be very noisy sometimes; the washing price is very high, but for need we had to pay, as we arrive in rain days.
