We stayed in AIDA in last May, our third visit. Each time the customer service, curtesy and friendship got improved. The prompt attention to calls, WiFi needs and the nearby Restaurant were highlights. What was so special about AIDA breakfast is it will keep you satiated until you finish your morning chores, sightseeing and shopping till at least 2 p. We recommended to my friends and families and they say the same. Check it out. Make a call from anywhere in the world and they will remember you personally and when you get there you won’t feel strange. Kudos to Jibin, Rijin and the rest of the crew!

Pleasant stay at Chrysobel Hotel and nice reception area. Staff were friendly and spoke English well. Bala at the hotel reception was very helpful. Decent breakfast and room had all the necessary facilities except toilet paper. It was great to get a shower after check out and before going to the airport.

My husband and I have travelled the world staying in every type of accommodation imaginable- and never have we experienced such warm, generous hospitality, such utterly beautiful food or such breathtakingly stunning surroundings! Mr and Mrs Xavier Joseph could not have made us more welcome into their beautiful home and their friendly, quiet village, helping us arrange trips and excursions, answering our ***y questions about local life and plying us with beautiful, authentic Keralan cuisine (as spicy as we wanted it!) day and night- as well as fresh water, tea and coffee and snacks. I actually cried when we had to leave this place! The surroundings are idyllic. During the course of our stay we took four very long walks all around the surrounding area (rice fields, canals and waterways, little streets and communities) and in that whole time did not see one single other tourist- we were absolutely able to experience 'real' rural Backwaters life and it was absolutely magical. If you want peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, the warmest of welcomes and the greatest food you will ever taste then this is the place for you! From the bottom of our hearts, heartfelt thanks to Mr and Mrs Xavier Joseph from my husband and I for giving us an experience we will NEVER, ever forget:) Carly and Simon Fee, United Kingdom

At an uncertain time, when a couple of COVID-19 cases had just been announced in the Kottayam area, Mathai was a very comforting host. Fenn Hall is quiet, elegant and a bit of a haven from the traffic of Kottayam. There are places to sit and read, clean and well-furnished period-feel rooms and although food is not officially provided on site, Mathai was able to provide us with a tasty home-cooked Keralan meal, and there are numerous options nearby from which food can be delivered. Morning breakfasts or other meals can easily be had at restaurants no more than 5-10 minutes walk away, in any case. Mathai is a very amiable and helpful host who can provide lots of information and advice and was also able to organise a taxi for us to move on, at a time when foreigners were looked on with an element of suspicion. I would not hesitate recommending Fenn Hall to anyone.

Puthens inn kottayam is 200 m from railway station and 50m from nagampadom pvt bus stand A small property though well maintained They provide simple and tasty breakfast The only hitch is that they don't offer 24hrs check in {12 pm to 11 am counts as a day} While this may be acceptable in a resort, its totally pathetic in a hotel mainly used by transit people I arrived in kottayam to attend a friends marriage at 5 am, and left by 5 pm. According to the rules of this hotel, i have to pay 2 days rent; ie 2 days rent for 24 hrs. Finally, the hotel people suggested that I check out b4 11 am. I checked out at 9 am itself. After much pleading i was allowed the use of a room in the evening for all of 20 minute to fresh up before the return journey Effectively i paid a days rent to stay for 4 hours, 30 mins ***agement to change policies, as almost every other HOTEL offers the convenience of 24 hrs check-in It has parking to accommodate 3 cars maximum You can always use railway station parking

They made arrangements for all our extra requests within very short period of time. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. The General ***ager Mr. Rajesh was extremely cooperative with the entire team and was not reluctant to make any arrangements required.Overall, it was a really good experience at Windsor Castle.

Last week we were in Kerala and Akkara was our one night stop in Kottayam. I haven't seen such a well preserved home in India. The place is straight out of a coffee table book on heritage homes. The old world charm is spellbinding. While Shantha auntie had to go for some family engagement; the caretaker ***oj and his family took good care of us. The food at this homestay is delicious and has a local flavour. The coffee is great too! The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and we had a good night sleep. Situated just outside of Kottayam town in the village of Ayemenem ( apparently, the village where 'The God of Small Things' is set), the house is bang on the river Meenachil. We ***age to go on a boat ride. Though because of monsoons, the river was a bit dirty but still, it was enjoyable. ***oj even arranged an early morning boat ride & birding trip for us at Kumarakom. Kumarakom is just 30 min away and you can go there for a lunch at the Taj or KLR. This homestay is ideal for people looking for peace and a digital detox. It has an Ayurveda centre. Though we did not get the time to experience it; it sure looked very traditional and tempting!

This was the highlight of our tour around Kerala. From the gracious welcome to the reluctant departure every minute was enjoyable. The accommodation in the family's heritage house (400 years old approx) which has been renovated was exceptional, clean, bright and airy. Plenty of attention to detail to make your stay comfortable. The food was exceptional and each dish was explained so no surprises just lots and lots of flavours to savour. The tour around the gardens to see the plants and where a lot of the food is sourced was extremely interesting and educational (everyday is a school day). The trip to the family rubber plantation and the rubber factory were enjoyable and again informative. Our host also took us to the top of the hills about 20 minutes from the house to watch the sun go down over the hills and it was stunning. I must say the homestay was not what I expected it was far far better. When we are next in the area I hope to stay again.

Had a comfortable stay at the hotel. Room and the bathroom were clean and equipped with all required amenities. The room safe and the door lock were not working as desired however were fixed immediately upon informing the front desk. The breakfast spread was minimalist and needs to have at least a few more options. Had dinner at the restaurant that was below average experience, had to step out for dinner the following night. This maybe because we were vegetarian and this part of the world does not have much to offer. The pool was under repair during our stay however we were not informed by the hotel staff upon check-in. The linen was worn out and needs immediate replacement.

I loved my first homestay experience so much! Ajith and his family were incredibly welcoming, providing us with plenty of information before we arrived and making sure we were comfortable from the moment we arrived. We had wonderful, tasty food and some lovely home grown bananas. Ajith took us out on the river (the property backs directly on to the river!) in his canoe which was a highlight of the trip. He was very safety conscious and made sure we were secure in lifejackets as well as ensuring we had a great time! A small tip would be to ensure you bring some mosquito repellent, especially if you want to enjoy eating outside next to the river.

In the heart of Pala, next to the Meenachhil river, on what looked like a river island with a bridge, this is a neat and functional and a relatively new three star property. Its walking distance from the bus stand and the hotel is happy to arrange transport. Room rates are reasonable and were surprisingly lower than what was being offered on the net at that point. Staff speak good english and communicate well. Even though the hotel is on the riverside, views from the room are not all that exciting. Rooms are large, beds comfortable, though the one I slept in tended to sag towards the head. Switches and plug points are surprisingly well placed next to the bed head, something that even larger hotels lack. However, the room was short in places to keep things as the main desk was cluttered with electric kettles and wifi equipment making it difficult to use it as a work station. The luggage rack was small and insufficient. Wifi worked very well. Bathrooms were clean with enough toiletries. I only had an omelette and toast breakfast at the hotel which was average. Breakfast was not included in the room, which was a odd. Only three star hotels are allowed to set up bars in Kerala, so this had one on the ground floor, but away from the reception. Evenings thus were crowded, but watch and ward staff efficiently marshalled the inebriated lot. The bar was crowded with serious and regular drinkers and had very little choice. No scotch. You have an option in Kerala of ordering 90ml pegs. The bar had room service. I was pleasantly surprised to find a toddy shop next to the hotel where I had some excellent pork fry with ****ta, but stale coconut toddy. They seem to source both coconut and fish tail palm toddy locally and from Palakkad, but tend to mix it in the evenings.
