I probably would not have booked this place if I had read all the reviews before but I had a hard time finding a room for our Friday/Sat night stay. That said, our room was clean, the receptionist had my pre-paid reservation at hand and she graciously switched us to a downstairs room instead of the upstairs. Additionally, instead of the $200 deposit indicated on the sign in the lobby, she put a $100 charge on my credit card for "incidentals and violating of no smoking". Hard to imagine what incidentals might be. She also warned about minimizing using our car as we might loose our parking spot. The Wi-Fi worked well for us. Not lightening speed but good enough for checking email, etc. Didn't try streaming nor did we try the Roku TV. The linens were clean but stained and the towels were the thin side and also stained. This is a bare minimum room - small fridge and microwave but no coffee maker in the room. Not a problem for us as we bring our own coffee making stuff. A Motel 6 is a cut above this one. Our room was surprisingly quiet considering the location right off US 5. It could be quieter if the door to the room fitted more closely as traffic noise was from the 10th street off-ramp. One can see light from the outside around the edges of the door including the bottom - maybe the source of bugs that another guest complained about. The location is nice and there are restaurants within walking distance. A lovely Italian place SoleLuna in the shadow of the El Cortez is a 7 minute walk away. It is obvious that the owners are making the bare minimum investment for maximum profits. Too bad - this could be much nicer. But if asked would I stay here again - my answer would be no.

The Hotel Indigo Gaslamp is located on the eastern edge of the Gaslamp District. It’s only a few blocks away from the hubbub on 5th Avenue while also being just removed enough to avoid the late-night club and bar noise over there. The property is also just a few blocks north of the Padres’s baseball stadium. I had a fabulous time drinking cocktails on the rooftop deck while peering into the stadium. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful (especially a gentleman named David, if I remember correctly), and the property itself is in good shape for a hotel in a popular big-city neighborhood. My room was on the 6th floor facing west, and the view was wonderful. Those who are unfamiliar with San Diego should know that the Gaslamp District has a visible and disheartening concentration of homelessness. As a city dweller myself, I am unfortunately accustomed to such sights and didn’t feel unsafe. But it is something to be aware of before reserving a room anywhere in the Gaslamp District. Another heads-up: Traffic around the hotel is a nightmare before and after Padres games. You’ll definitely need to plan any car travel (e.g., to and from the airport) accordingly. Check out The Broken Yolk for breakfast and Lotus Thai for cheap yet tasty Thai food. I’ll definitely consider staying here again during future trips to San Diego.

To whom it may concern: I stayed in your hotel, as you have noted. It was nice and clean, and the staff was seemingly cordial. That is where everything nice ceased to exist. For one, not only was the $99.00 taken out for my room (which I expected).. there was also $199.35 taken out of my bank for whatever reason I was not aware of. Not only was this not made aware to me.. I told the staff that I was not sure if I would be staying the entire 6 days, and they gave me the advice to pay by the day. What they did not make aware to me was that the rates double on the weekend. I felt that they could have made me aware of this and allowed me to make an informed decision. Instead, not only was extra money taken out of my account, they took another day out, which I allowed, and after 3 days, my account was depleted. At first, your staff denied that they took out the $199.35.. they denied this, even though I showed them black and white printed evidence on my account, which which made me extremely upset. I had to call my bank and have them verbally verify this out loud to the desk receptionist, Then, after they reluctantly admitted this charge, they denied the 3rd charge, which also had your name on it. This total fiasco left me homeless in San Diego for a night, while I drove around from park to park, sitting in my car, looking for a hotel. I had to wait a day to get money wired to me and to get another hotel. Meanwhile, I and my son were forced to sleep in my car in random parks in San Diego, a town in which I have never been. Thank you for such a horrible experience. One, I want my $199.35 back, so I filed a dispute with my bank. Two, I want to know why it was taken out in the first place, and not made aware to me. Three I want to know why your staff didn't even have the decency to acknowledge the debit taken out of my account until I had my bank on the line, Then denied the third charge.. is this how you train your staff, to lie and to cover up what is in plain sight?! Thanks to days inn, I was homeless in San Diego for a night, not the most comfortable situation. if you have the audacity to even answer this complaint, please leave me the contact info for Hampton Inn or the Holiday Inn, because I am planning another trip and definitely need a hotel.. Maybe they know how to treat their clients.

The location is not bad, there is a supermarket next to it, and only a distance from the light rail, but it is too noisy downstairs and a bar downstairs, especially on weekends. There is a large kitchen, and sometimes you need to wait for the bathroom and bathroom. not bad.

Days prior to arriving at the hotel I was contacted Savannah a customer service representative that who advised me that there would be no maid service during our one week stay. We actually do not have a problem with subject to receiving towel, soap, etc. in a timely manner upon request. Savannah was very pleasant and shared information about the hotel, FRED (the free downtown taxi service, nearby restaurants), transportation from the airport and whether we had any requests prior to our arrival. Subsequently, to talking with Savannah, I called re additional inquiries. Savannah was not available, but I talked with Alecia and she too was very pleasant and answered my inquiries. Because of the central location of the hotel to areas of interest and the comments re cost of parking at the hotel and in the area we decided not to rent a car for our stay. It was a good decision. We like to walk - so we walked to the Seaport, Italian Village, and the GasLamp district. From time to time we took an Uber, FRED, or visited other areas on the jump off and on Trolley. The suite was very clean and comfortable and we did not have any problems during our stay. The extra towels were left in a bag outside the room prior to our entering our room and we received other amenities promptly upon request (i.e, coffee, etc.). We visited the fitness center, which appeared clean and was spacious. We only ate at the hotel restaurant once. That was when we arrived late to the hotel after our flight - we ordered flat bread. It was small for the price but not surprising.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Due to a flight cancelation we had to change our stay from Sunday through Friday to Monday through Saturday. While checking in I noticed our rate for Friday night jump from roughly $110 to $214 for the same room. I asked the lady working the front desk and I was told this was because I changed my reservation and they got more for the weekend. I asked if there was anything she could to to get us a better rate and she said no, but we could go to another hotel if we wanted. Out of curiosity, I looked online and could get a room for Friday for less than $190. I called Wyndham customer service and she quoted me the same $190 rate and said she couldn't change what the hotel had, but I should talk to the front desk. I tried, but the same rude woman told me she wasn't changing the rate. Here are a few other things we noticed: Bathtub was super small. There was no way even a small adult could take a bath. The showerhead was mounted about 5' off the ground. They offer high-speed internet, but it was so slow we opted to use our cellphones instead. On Tuesday morning I noticed that the breakfast area was out of cranberry or apple juice. It was not refilled until Friday. The in breakfast area was missing. Elevator doesn’t work. We had to carry our luggage up the stairs. TP was not restocked. There were 4 of us in room. Asked for extra towels and cleaning person seemed put out that we even wanted them to service our room. No restocked toiletries. I had to go search out a room service cart to get more. The window left open had been left open by a previous guest. We had a small spill in our room one day and cleaned it up with some towels. We left dirty towels in bath in a corner on the floor and they were still there later. There was outlet box covered by wallpaper. They want almost $20 a day for parking. The beds were not very comfortable.

Great location near the gaslamp, parking on scene is a big nope but there is a great structure nearby called "park it on market" I was able to park before checking in for a one night stay and get in my car the next afternoon for $16 total, well worth it. Check in was fun asf, free house bevvy to start the experience is absolutely my vibe, and standard drink prices were decent for the setting, love Love LOVE the games and general house party vibe. The room, was.... Tiny, and guess what? Still more comfy than the hoody your ex won't give back. Can see that the design is meant for people who have more in life happening then the square footage of their room. Perfect for a couple nights though I can see it getting weird on a long term stay. No view expect some weird lights in the main corridor, but if not for those lights I daresay i might have spotted some flesh from another persons room, so smart design choice there. No breakfast makes me sad, I wouldn't have eaten it anyway but I want my money's worth you know??? (gotta love that some people won't read the sarcasm there.) But considering the amount of local places to grab any kind of grub you could wish upon a star, I think most will be able to survive not being served a buffet of cheap over touched food. will be back!

The location of this hotel is average. There is still a certain distance from la jolla beach, which takes more than ten minutes by car. The hotel facilities are relatively old and have a certain age. The overall experience is very average

I recently stayed her with my partner while in town for a family event. I arrived right at midnight and the front desk agent (Joseph) went to check me in and he couldn’t find my reservation. He said that I arrived just at the precise time when reservations turn over in their system and I was probably marked as a no-show. I actually have had this issue before so I knew of what he spoke and he explained that he would have to essentially create a new rez for me and that would be faster than trying to extract my original rez out of the system. He recognized my Ambassador status and I am sure could sense that after a full day or traveling I was ready to get to my room. He was quite apologetic, gave me some free waters and soda while I waited, comped my parking fee and upgraded me to their largest suite on the executive club floor. All without me having to ask and really without me even complaining. (I think I looked really tired!!!) The room was spacious with a separate living area, huge bathroom and nice, comfortable bed. They had an executive lounge on the top floor that was open during our entire time and the bartender and concierge who staffed it all weekend were friendly, helpful and the food was good and free drinks are always appreciated. The housekeeping was thorough and all-in-all it was a great stay and exactly what I want from a full service Marriott.

We are Marriott loyalist and were very happy with our stay here. First rate operation. To be fair, our impressions are based on Bonvoy Titanium status (freebies) which may bring out the best in the place. Highlights: - Extremely friendly and service oriented staff throughout--front desk, DEN restaurant, housekeeping. - Modern (remodeled) rooms. Exceptionally clean. - Daily housekeeping without asking! - Very nice public spaces, including the pool area. Something of a resort oasis in the urban area of Mission Valley. - A very convenient location. 5-20 minutes to everywhere. So very possible to stay here, have dinner at any of the tourist places, and be back quickly. A significant cost savings over downtown. (There are also lots of breweries about 5-7 minutes away). Other notes: - The only pre-COVID amenity not functioning is the "M Lounge" is not open. That said, status members are offered a free breakfast buffet daily (otherwise $22/pp) in the DEN restaurant. The staff at breakfast is particularly friendly and accommodating. - Modest upgrade from a "city view" to "pool view" for the stay. Was appreciated. There appeared to be a suite on the top floor, yet not sure how many floors may have one/what the quantity of potential suite upgrade rooms might be. - 2 of 3 elevators in service. For much of our stay, occupancy was fairly low, so didn't much matter. On the couple peak days (a convention arrived) not having the third elevator became a minor nuisance. - Plenty of parking (has a garage). Could debate the separate parking charge, yet appeared the norm in Mission Valley and hotel is transparent about it. There is some street parking and office parks nearby if one truly objects. Very happy with our stay and unequivocally recommended as a very nice place to stay in San Diego.

stayed at the location because it is adjacent to the convention center, where I had to attend a meeting. I arrived at 6pm & there 5 people in line ahead of me to checkin. Initially only 2 staff (surprising given size of property), but after a while, a 3rd person came. My time in line was 20 minutes, more than the time I had to wait for luggage at airport or taxi ride to location. Once 3rd person arrived (manager), line moved quickly. Room was clean, nice view of the bay. Toilet has water saving capacity, but I was surprised that the room did not have the blue Marriott recycle trash bin. I did like the night light in the bathroom- didn't have to use my laptop powercord light. I was there on weekend, so M club closed. They give you a $15.00 credit, but the only on site sit down restaurant was buffet only- $32.00- so breakfast would still cost $17.00. You can use credit at Starbucks, but that only gets you oatmeal & coffee. They should do better on weekends. Check out was easy. Again, only 5-10 minute walk from convention center.

Great location, and very friendly helpful staff. Hotels here are pricey for the quality of the rooms. Biggest issue was having booked a suite with a “partial view”, but the room was the closest to the street ground level and the view was the main road and the side of a motor home parking spot (with a motor home). We had our adult son with us sleeping on the pull out sofa, the mattress was literally springs covered with a sheet - I could put my hand under the metal wire almost. Desperately needs replacing with a mattress that is possible to use. Second night he just slept on the sofa cushions. On the positive side, the breakfast (not included) was good, and view of the marina on the non street side was really nice. Pool and jacuzzi looked good too. Parking is extra cost. I always dislike leaving critical reviews because we liked the staff … but value for money here didn’t cut it.

It's still a very recommended hotel. The valet front desk and waiter have a good attitude, but Ctrip said that it is with breakfast, but in fact the hotel only packs 16 yuan, and 16 yuan can't order anything in it, and there are very few choices of dishes. I stayed for three years. Two people have tasted 6 kinds of them every day, and they are not good. If the waiter asks you for coffee or orange juice, if you don’t want to drink it, don’t ask for it, because it is charged, and a cup is 7 yuan. There is a Starbucks in the hotel that can be bought directly. The key restaurant The service attitude of the black woman at the door was extremely poor for three days, and the racial discrimination was serious. There was an Asian (like a Korean) with an accent, and then she pretended not to understand, and asked the room number several times. Other than that, I heard that she couldn't understand. Besides, the speed of breakfast is very slow, and you will not be able to come out without 40 minutes. There is also a mandatory facility fee charged by the hotel. I have to print the bill when I am in the room because I said I didn’t receive the email at all. The parking fee can’t be swiped at 45 per night for the room card, 39 per night with the room card, and 69 per night for the valet, which is not cheap. I chose the city view room. The scenery is very good, the facilities in the room are very new, the room is very transparent and very comfortable to live in. On the first night when I went to bed, I heard a strange noise in the room and called someone to check it and said that it was the sound of the pipeline and changed us to a room, tossing By twelve o'clock, I slept soundly,

The location is great, in the gaslamp quarter. About half an hour walk from the famous Balboa Park. It is not too far from the port of San Diego. Many bars and restaurants downstairs. Good is very convenient, and bad is very noisy at night. The choice for nightlife is right here. The music downstairs is a lot of Latin and there are street bands. Okay. The staff were very welcoming. Will organize a city tour. Breakfast is average, no milk. The decoration is very unique, the patio is very warm, but unfortunately there is no time to enjoy. I booked this hotel through a Southwest Airlines package deal. When I got to the hotel at 5:15 on Friday 2/18/22 I found out why they don't have a desk clerk on site after dark. This place is the absolute worst hotel in San Diego. It is apparent that it used to be a "half way house" for alcoholics and ex-cons to stay as they try to get their lives together. I'm pretty sure a couple of the people that I talked to as I was trying to find my "room" are permanent residents at the "hotel". Although the website says it is in the Little Italy area, the actual location is in a really nasty part of the neighborhood. The "hotel" is in the flight path to the airport, and gets a lot of noise from the Hwy 5 freeway and a trolley line. No hotel parking, you have to park on the streets next to homeless tents. I will admit that I didn't read the fine print on my reservation, but they booked me into a tiny "room" sharing a bunk bed and a bathroom with a guy that I'm pretty sure lives there full time. Some other guests that I talked to while trying to "check in" said they had private rooms to themselves but they had to share bathroom and showers. If you're a twenty year old German kid hitchhiking around the USA this might be an acceptable "hotel" but for most of the rest of us, it is absurd. I phoned the only number for the hotel, left a message I was cancelling, and booked a Best Western. I doubt that this Found "hotel" will give me a refund, but I am not going to spend a night sharing a bunk bed and a bathroom with a stranger..

We were in San Diego for one of our very best friends’ wedding and chose this hotel since it was nearby and our preference is Marriott. Our stay was wonderful; we found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. The front desk staff to be very friendly and always helpful. I’d like to make special note of Tiffany, who went above and beyond. From the moment we called to request the shuttle (and early check in since we had just arrived from the east coast), she took exceptionally good care of us - promptly, proficiently and always with a smile. When we mentioned that it was my birthday and we had a nice evening planned, she thoughtfully took a birthday card and goodie bag to our room as a surprise. Unfortunately she was already off duty when we returned to the room to see it, but her extra kind gesture was much appreciated. As someone that exemplifies Marriott’s core values (putting people first, pursuing excellence, embracing change, acting with integrity and serving our world - found on Marriott website), if there is another way I can submit her for an award please let me know. Thank you!

We stayed here when we traveled to SD for a grandchild's birthday, and from the moment we arrived to check-in to when we checked out several days later, the staff was very personable and attentive. I can't say enough good things particularly about Reggie, the front desk manager. He was extremely helpful any time we had a question or request, and greeted us warmly every time he saw us. We witnessed him greeting other guests just as warmly and friendly. Parking was a bit expensive, but customary and as expected for this area. The room and bathroom was very nice with plenty of room to spread out and supplies well-stocked. A full line of breakfast items, both hot and cold, were offered every day, and there is also a small 24-hour convenience area with snacks, toiletries, drinks, and a microwave. We did not take advantage of the pool area or workout room, although both were available. I loved the openness of the large lobby and pool area, with glass roll-up doors in between so you can enjoy the beautiful outdoor area even from the inside on cooler days. All in all, we had a great stay here, and will likely book here again on our next trip!

Confirmation # 3255414081 Confirmation # 3250340798 Upon arrival on 4/11/22, I was given an early check-in of about 2pm instead of the usual 3pm, as I had to put my bags away and dash to a meeting across town. I was operating on no sleep in the last 24hrs as I just completed filming in Los Angeles and drove the 2.5 hrs to San Diego. I went to my room and left my bags. I was leaving to get to my meeting and as I opened the door, the hall smelled of pee. Further down the hall was a woman walking two dogs. She stopped right before the elevator at the ice machine, where one of the dogs relieved himself. It was disgusting to see. After four hours of meetings, I returned to the hotel. Exhausted, all I wanted to do was sleep, as I had a video shoot at 6am in Del Mar. After showering, I laid down to sleep. I was shocked to hear DOGS barking. I realized the noise was coming from room 541. The room right next to me, 543. I blasted the TV set the timer and tried to sleep while blocking out the barking. At 4am I was awakened by the continuous noise of the two dogs barking. I showered and left. As I walked by the room next to me with the dogs, the dogs would bark excessively and nonstop. It is so wrong to allow barking dogs to disturb visitors, it is worse when you check-in and are staying four days and never are told your room will be next to the woman with two barking dogs that pee in the hall. On Wednesday around 11am, I asked the gentleman at the desk a few questions. If my room could be cleaned and to ensure I had fresh towels. He said, "absolutely!" When I returned around 630pm, I had no towels and the room had not been cleaned. I called the front desk to find out what had happened and they said they didn't know. They sent a young man with sheets (yes I changed the bedding myself) then he made another trip to get me fresh towels. Again, I had to deal with the barking from the room next to me at night and in the morning. At 9am today 2/14/22, housekeeping was knocking on the door even though I had the DO NOT DISTURB SIGN ON THE DOOR. I found this rude and disrespectful and made up my mind to shower and leave early. This was the most DISGUSTING hotel by Hilton I had ever stayed in. The service is poor, the communication to guests does not exist and the smell of pee is sickening. I will never stay at this hotel again and I will advise friends and family to stay away. James Walton (818)517-5958

This is a nice, clean hotel with a beautiful social area and pool in the center. The room was very nice and surprisingly quiet. The parking is cheap for the area at $12/day. The bed was even comfortable. I would give it 5 stars BUT the restaurant was closed, the parking lot is in rough shape and, at the time, there was no place to eat at within a few miles on a Sunday afternoon except McDonalds. To nitpick, the kid sized bathtub was unexpected, and a little strange. IF everything were to open back up in the area and they repaved the parking, it would be a nice resort in the northern San Diego area.

We have always received great service and an excellent breakfast. Yes parking can be a little crowded but for its location and cost it is well worth it. Easy access to the freeway. The staff is great and friendly and willing to help. Due to COVID the rooms are not cleaned on a regular basis during your stay, but that is not a real problem. If you run out of soap etc the front desk is always there to help you. Never had a problem and have staed there several times.

Downtown San Diego

While searching for a home to buy, my wife and I stayed in this hotel for 2 months. The staff was very friendly and helpful, responding to all of our needs. They try to make you feel as if you are family visiting their home. Their accomodations are very comfortable and clean, both inside and out. I enjoyed working outdoors by the pool, in addition to staying in the room. The WIFI worked great both inside and outside. In addition, the location is great! Next door to a shopping center with a large grocery store, several restaurants and a fast food court. Two miles down the road is a Target, other smaller stores and restaurants. Sonesta ES Suites in Sorento Mesa was a great place to stay. I look forward to returning.

Hotel Iris is an older hotel, and you get what you pay for. I booked it for 5 nights for a family visit. The value is very good for the location. Everything went well until the 2nd night, when the hotel's wi-fi went out. I called the front desk and they said they were working on it. The next day the wi-fi was still out. I talked with a manager and he said they had contacted Cox Cable twice. I actually met the cable guy at the front desk and he said they had to call another cable repairman. The wi-fi was still out for another night -- so I cancelled my last 2 nights and moved to another (more expensive) hotel in Mission Valley. It took a few phone calls to get a refund for the final two nights, because I had made the booking through Booking.com. I had to call them first, and then call the hotel. I finally got the refund to my credit card about two weeks later -- it took a while, but the hotel gave me no argument. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Hotel Iris again, as long as they keep their wi-fi working! Minor downsides: At the time of my visit, the vending machines weren't working. Also, the single ice machine is located inside the gated pool area, so I had to ask for help to open the gate after hours.

Mission Valley
Overall, I'd give the hotel a 6 out of 10 rating. The property was nice, centrally located, clean, and I'd definitely book it again in the future. There were a few things that were inconvenient, such as the laundry room was unavailable, the breakfast room is closed until further notice, and the service was a little slow, but other than those few negatives, our stay was peaceful and enjoyable!

Opposite the hotel is Best Buy, Messi's home store, super cost-effective for self-driving. There is a Starbucks in the hotel lobby. It's not far away, there is a gas station in front of the hotel. The parking fee is said to be expensive. We parked directly at the gas station entrance, as long as it is not on the red line, many cars are parked overnight.

Misson Bay / Loma Heights
We booked into a garden room in the Bahia for 5 nights. The first room they showed us was awful! Small dark, on the ground floor with the doors opening onto the road directly opposite the reception. It was literally 2 yards from the passenger drop off outside and there were no net curtains! After speaking to reception they kindly upgraded us to a second floor studio which was much nicer. As we were staying for 5 nights, it was a shame the hotel didn’t allocate us a reasonable room in the first place! The hotel itself is beautifully clean, the beach is well maintained and the restaurant was very good. We paid for a trip around the bay on the Bahia Belle which was lovely. There is a short walk to mission beach and a few restaurants and bars. Now a few negatives- the hotel didn’t clean our room for 5 days and we had to request clean towels. There was an offer to change the bed but it was at 5pm and we were getting ready to go out. It wasn’t the end of the world but it’s an expensive hotel and despite COVID restrictions surely it must be possible for the rooms to be cleaned? The only other issue we had was the noise disturbance in the room - one morning (4am) a street cleaning vehicle drove up and down, other days there were deliveries, guests leaving, doors slamming. Whilst we didn’t expect complete silence this hotel did seem to be very noisy in the early morning. If this is going to be an issue I suggest a room at the back of the hotel.
