Absolutely terrible hotel. We stayed in early July for 3 nights as a family with two little kids when it was 35+ and the air conditioning did not work. In addition one of the beds was a pull out couch which was completely unusable since the sag was ridiculous. I ended up laying the mattress on the floor. The owner was rude and completely unapologetic to any of the issues. The place is completely rundown and is easily the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else! This place will ruin your stay in Chania..

We booked a stay for 1 night in the “deluxe suite (maisonette)” via hotels.com. In the pictures, it showed a specific room with a very large bathtub and a balcony with panoramic views on the second floor of the room. I even specifically called the hotel prior to booking and asked to confirm that this was the room I was about to book. They said yes. When we arrived, we were given a differen room completely different to what I had booked. It had a tiny balcony, the jacuzzi bathtub was TINY, only one person could fit in there. Also, many things in the room were broken, like the rails in the bed, some tiles had come off, there were ants in the shower, it was just a hugh disappointment, not worth the 105€ I paid for 1 night. When I complained to the staff about the room not being what i booked, she said it’s not her problem and that the owner wouldn’t be able to see me. She was rather rude. Also, when we arrived there was no one in the reception and a woman from a nearby window yelled at me “What do you want lady?”. It was awful. Only good thing about this hotel was the location but then again, all the hotels in this area have a good location. It was a really bad stay, I urge you NOT to go to this hotel! The owner should do something better or NOT CHARGE SO MUCH FOR SUCH A CRAP STAY!

We stayed at Consolato Boutique in old Chania for 4 nights and it is a brilliant place to stay. As it is in the old town you can not drive to the hotel so have to park in a nearby public parking space. May be a little difficult to get a park at times. About a 200m walk to the hotel but I am sure someone from the hotel would help with the suitcases if required. There is no real reception area but the owner was waiting for us outside the hotel which was lovely. We had the Athena room on the 3rd -top - floor so 3 flights of steps to go up with bags but once again help would be available. The owner explained all the details of the room and gave us details on how to contact him if required. The room was just brilliant and a good size. Beautiful huge marble bathroom and rainfall shower. Comfortable bed, large tv, plenty of shelves to unpack your bags into. A fridge for your drinks, Nespresso coffee maker and pods, kettle, toaster, plates and cutlery. And most important a bottle opener! Everything had been thought of. Our room had access to a large rooftop deck which had a couple of chairs and table for us and a little pull out clothes line. Nice views from here over the rooftops of the town with glimpses of the river. Great for evening drinks. The position is perfect right in the old town close to all the restaurants and cafes but just far enough away to be away from late night noise. Totally recommend this hotel. Just perfect.

We stayed here in May. Arrived late at night as our flight from Dublin was a little delayed - the owner (apologies I cannot remember her name) was waiting for us having kindly arranged a taxi to collect us from the airport. The accommodation is 5 star, so luxurious, spotlessly clean and everything is of a very high quality. The hotel is located on a lovely street with beautiful boutique style shops and restaurants. We found a little bakery opposite the hotel which served good coffee and pastries. We cannot recommend this hotel enough - you will not find better. Thank you again and we look forward to staying with you again next year.

We booked this last minute for our final night in Crete after a bad experience with our Airbnb villa and it really ended our trip on a good note. The hotel is in a lovely old mansion right in the middle of the old town and near the old port but on a quiet side street so despite the many nearby restaurants, shops and bars you get a good night's sleep. We felt pampered even in the standard room we booked which was very clean, nicely decorated and had a very comfortable bed, good towels and a great shower and had separate bedroom and living room levels. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and service generally was great. They have a fairly extensive breakfast menu which you can have in your room though nicer to take in the lovely mosaic courtyard. If you have a car you can park it for free around nearby Talos Square (about 250m away) but they will help you with your luggage if you need it. If you are coming to Chania this is a great place to stay in the old town.

I stayed at this hotel in May of this year. This hotel is in a great location with shops and restaurants near by It's a quaint hotel with some interesting antiques on display. You can go up to the roof and enjoy the sunrise, or sunset, read a book or have a cool drink in the afternoon. The bathroom, especially the shower is rather small, but that is often the case in some of the older buildings. This is in a busy area. The windows are the older type, , but they do have heavy shutters on the outside which help with the outside noise. For those who are light sleepers, you might have trouble sleeping, but I'm a relatively light sleeper and I had little trouble sleeping. They have an air conditioner in the room which worked well. There is also a fridge. There is a mini supermarket about an eighth of a mile away that sells snacks, bread and cold cuts, beer, wine & liquor. The Byzantine and Naval museum are both within a quarter mile, not to mention other sites. If you want to book a day tour, there’s a pick up point about a 10 minute walk. Another few minutes pas that is the Central bus station that takes you to other places in Crete. I can't say enough about the young woman who works at this hotel in arranging tours for me. She made numerous calls, trying to find the tours that were tailored to my needs. They also marked on a map for me where the better restaurants were. I believe there were 3 different options for breakfast. I had the English option with bacon, fried eggs, toast, bread with toppings, etc each day and they were very good. One last thing I want to add is check in time ends at 11 pm, but my flight was delayed and I didn’t get in until almost 1 am and the owner waited up for me. I saw him do the same for other guests arriving late. This owner was very pleasant to talk to as was the young lady I mentioned earlier and both of them were tremendously helpful. This hotel is in a great, scenic and historic area. If I go back, I will definitely stay here.

The location of the hotel could not be better, central to the harbour and the front. Great access to all the shops and the beach is just a short walk along the promenade. Our attic room was kept very clean throughout our stay and the bathroom was spotless. We had a fantastic view over the harbour facing the lighthouse and boats. There was no noise during the night so we slept very well during our 10 day stay. The hotel staff were excellent very friendly and helpful, I cannot praise them highly enough, they also spoke good English. As we went in October breakfast was served on the ground floor but I was informed it is normally served in the open on the roof in summer, breakfast is self-service and is a continental type breakfast. We ordered a taxi through the hotel to pick us up at the airport and was on time doing so and dropped us off near the hotel where we were met by a member of the hotel staff who took our luggage and guided us through the narrow streets to the hotel. The return journey was just as easy. I would return any time great hotel.

We traveled to Chania as a family of 3 and chose to stay at Residenza Vranas after reading reviews about the location and elegant rooms. The Room We stayed in the Two Bedroom Sea View Suite. When you enter the suite, you walk into the second bedroom. This bedroom has glass doors that connect it to the master bedroom on the left and glass doors connecting it to the living room on the right. These doors had curtains for privacy. The person in the second bedroom had access to a full bathroom that was off the living room. The master bedroom was very spacious and had it's own bathroom. The living room had an amazing view of the harbor. The Food We were brought an elaborate breakfast every morning consisting of eggs, pastries, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, and juice. They even provided a smaller breakfast the day we left since we had to check out very early. Other The hotel was able to coordinate travel to and from the airport and we provided payment directly to the driver. The hotel staff was very accommodating and gave personal suggestions for restaurants. There is not an elevator/lift and this room was at the top of the stairs. Overall, I would highly recommend Residenza Vranas for anyone looking to have a relaxing stay in Chania in a hotel that is centrally located and beautifully decorated.

I didn’t really want to write this on tripadvisor and have emailed the hotel/manager numerous times to try and resolve this situation. But I have heard nothing back. Had an amazing stay in the king suite. It was absolutely beautiful with an amazing view and excellent customer service. The room is spacious, clean and has everything you could want. However, we got told the day before that we could have our breakfast in our room if we wanted too. So we went down and filled in the sheet to have our breakfast at 9am. Breakfast arrived and the lady seemed very stress, rude and angry. She spilled orange juice on the breakfast and we said to her it was fine and that she didn’t have to worry. So she went to change the food. When she came back we asked her if there was any milk for our tea? She seemed very angry at this and said to me you didn’t tick it on the sheet. I apologised and then said ok so can we get any? She said she was busy and didn’t have time. We rang reception and they kindly bought some milk up. After breakfast we were still hungry and rather than upset the lady who was dealing with it further. We went to were breakfast was served to get some good. Ok arrival there was no seats which again not a problem and we would wait, we was also unsure if we were to serve ourself or the lady was to do it. Again she was rude towards us when my husband asked for Greek yoghurt and honey as though it was too much trouble. After this my husband tried to make conversation with her and said are you ok? Are you busy? She was rude towards him and said can you not see? In the end we walked away from breakfast and headed towards reception to sort this out. At reception the lady listened to me and had organised some more breakfast to be delivered to our room. I also made sure that I didn’t have the conversation in front of guests as I didn’t want people to hear as it’s not fair. However, the lady in reception kept talking over me and appeared to be listening to me but kept dismissing what the other lady had done and talking over me. Once breakfast did arrive at the room, the same lady who brought it up to me still bought it to me and she was again rude. She then started making derogatory comments towards me. Saying that I have put this and that on the plate as you didn’t stay long to look (well yes that’s because you didn’t make me feel welcome) she then said to me and also I think there is far too much food on the tray (insinuating to me that I am eating too much) can’t quite believe it!!! She then said and whilst I’m here I would like to take the other tray. I told her that was not possible as I was still eating from it. I then said to her that I am disgusted with her attitude and shut the door. On top of that the breakfast she bought me wasn’t even what I had ticked on the sheet to have. Joke!!! So needless to stay we are going to leave and have breakfast somewhere else. All I am letting you know is customers expect high quality cus

We stayed at the Deluxe Hotel for three nights and were unfortunately quite disappointed (it was for us the most expensive place). Even though it is called Hotel it is more a collection of rental apartments and upon arrival we had to call the number provided on a sign at the door (but often there is someone sitting on a chair on the road). A cleaning lady let us inside the room but as she was quite in a rush she only told us in two sentences the wifi password. The apartment itself has two nice big bedrooms, a spacious bathroom and a large entrance with dinning table. However, the kitchen is just a sink and a fridge, with everything missing. There were not even a water kettle, plates, forks or knifes. As most people renting an apartment we planned to have breakfast inside our apartment, we therefore requested some plates, forks and knifes (and also got them by the evening). In addition, lots of the little details from the promotion pictures are missing: There are no plants etc. in the room and the cleaning is just done superficial, e.g. only at our second they room service was done (not on the third). The floor seems to be only swept and not wiped (walking bar foot results in quite dark feet) and in the lower department of the closet there was a high amount of dusts. In addition, the entrance key for the door of the building is horrible, not just we but all the guests and the personal of the apartments often have problems unlocking the door and you must try for 1-2 minutes (until it eventually unlocks). Finally, we would like to make a remark to a stay during the weekend: Every Saturday there is a farmers market on the road behind the apartment. This is nice for buying your breakfast but with unloading cars etc. you can’t really sleep long on a Saturday morning. In addition, the parking is on a Friday really horrible: We searched for over an hour for a parking space on this day and just found after hours a place to park with 10 minutes walking distance to the apartment. On the other days parking was not a problem. But the personal could definitely inform guest on the weekend about the parking situation and recommend areas to park or in general provide some kind of map or information to Chania (there was nothing in the apartment beside advertising for a car rental). Service 5/10 Location 8/10 Cleanliness 7/10 Room/Facilities 6/10 Price-Value 4/10 (105 € per night)

Where do I start... The view was spectacular, the apartment was beyond our expectations very comfortable and spacious and in walking distance to restaurants, bars and shopping. Even though the apartment is in a great location and on the Harbour you could not hear the noise from the Harbour. Our apartment had two bedrooms located downstairs that had their own bathrooms with two large tubs to relax in after a long day of site seeing. Upon arrival we met the housekeeper Helena who showed us around the apartment and made us feel at home. The apartment was also very well furnished with plenty of room. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit with Crete.

Communication with staff very poor. No hotel driver / taxi met us upon arrival at the airport. No attempt to inform us that their driver was not going to show up. Original room that we booked was on third floor. Though they advertise not having an elevator - what they don't tell guests is that the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor are accessible through poorly lit, small, narrow winding dark wood stairs, which were unsafe. I would not want to bring small children or people who have vision problems. The original room we had booked was very, very small and dark. The television didn't work there was no safe, and no telephone. We immediately requested a better room. The room we got was family room, bigger for which we paid an extra 100 euros. Same deal. No telephone in the room although their website advertises a phone in the room. The room was dark and smells of chemicals. No safe (when we did request the safe - manager carried one in from another room! safe had a key.. not sure if manager had a separate key made). Felt very unsafe in this hotel. Did not trust valuables being in left in the room - even when they were locked in our suitcase and the portable safe. Staff frequently visited our room while we were out without informing us. This happened too often. Found out later that they were coming in to fix stuff. No 'clean up' after attempting to fix stuff. The window did not close, the bathroom door didn't lock or shut. Neither window or bathroom door got fixed. We found loose screws lying around floor on bathroom floor.. which we stepped on. Luckily none of us got hurt. No staff available at front office..unless if new guests were checking in. Front office was locked 90% of the day.. sometimes the whole day. We left a day earlier, couldn't get anyone to order a taxi for us.. because front office was closed. Had to ask another hotel nearby to call a taxi for us. Very disappointed with this place. Do not go here.

Our room was lovely - spacious, charming, airy and filled with characterful objects and imagery. The Ottoman theme is beautifully realised and all fittings and furniture is of a very high standard. The location is excellent and there is much to see and do within walking distance including restaurants, bars, culture, shops and beaches. Most lovely of all though are the attentions and care of the hosts Andreas and Alex. Nothing is too much trouble, aptly characterised by Andreas’ morning enquiry of ‘now is there anything else we can do to make your day more special?’ Assistance with car hire, reservations for dinner, recommendations for places to see and things to do were all offered and taken. It really made the difference in turning a hastily booked attempt at escaping Covid 19 into a holiday we will treasure and are determined to repeat. As has been said the breakfasts are lovely with local flavours and a good variety. I waited too long to try the Sfakia pie.. Can not recommend this place enough.

We loved everything!! From communication with the staff, the location of the hotel, our room, the bed (best mattress I have ever slept on away from home) to the modern shower room with quality toiletries, it was a joy to be there. Nikos on reception was very welcoming and helpful, especially when we decided to extend our stay by 2 more nights as we were enjoying our stay so much. The lady who cleans the rooms is meticulous! Note. The hotel is situated very near to the cathedral and the bells do ring loudly, you can also hear the liturgy from the priests. This didn't bother us but I mention it in case it would bother someone else. Also It didn't affect us however to aid accessibility I believe they plan to install a lift.

We enjoyed 3 nights at this hotel, had the room with the small balcony overlooking Skoufon Street which we used for drinks and taking in the Greek atmosphere- it was not too noisy. We liked everything about this hotel, location was excellent right in middle of old town, room very clean, breakfast as we were during Covid was served to us rather than buffet, but very good. I give my review 4 stars because of check in system. We arrived on a late flight not able to check in until 10.30, I emailed a few days before to advise of this and clarify arrangements but got no response- we arrived at hotel but door locked, and no message / sign on door- we phoned and were told to go to a reception place a few meters away, which we couldn’t initially find, it was ok finally but did cause us stress after a long journey that could have been avoided if the hotel had responded to my emails, I sent two in good time as anticipated there maybe a problem. We would stay here again and would recommend, just a shame about check in experience and lack of information.

We stayed at CCH for 11 nights while vacating in Crete and by the second night, we didn't want to leave. We were fortunate to have the suite, where no details were spared. Bright, clean and modern; just what we were looking for! While the hotel is well-maintained, the main reason we'll be returning to CCH is for their lovely receptionist, Olga. She already made us feel welcomed through email exchanges prior to our arrival and kept her word on making our trip unforgettable. From providing us with a detailed map on local spots, to taking care of our dinner reservations, this woman is a true gem with an infectious smile! If you have the chance, please make your way over to this hotel; you won't regret it! Until next summer, M&J (Montreal)

Hello, I like to always to write a review with pros and cons instead of a common text review. PROS: * Safe hotel. They follow Greece's hotel assosiation guidelines for Covid19. Is one of the safest hotels we have seen in the area (as another one we had visited they didn't wear marks or had any protection at all) * There was enough space to eat and sit around the breakfast room with 2m distance between each table. * Disinfectant liquids on all floors outside the elevators and in each room. * Excellent service and staff. Polite staff with a smile every morning and easy going to have a chat with them. * Easy access to the old port (the hotel is located very close to the sea on foot). * There is also a taxi station around 200m on the left. * Kiosks and banks in close distance. * Pool was excellent and water in great temperature compared to other places we have stayed in. CONS * The breakfast was limited compared to other hotels we stayed in (don't know if that's due to covid19) * It would have been nice if they had a restaurant to eat there instead of a snack bar only. * We had to change rooms due to aircon not working as it should - but they offered us an upgrade each time. But the incovenience was not something we expected on the first day of our trip. Thank you and hope to be back again without masks and the worry of the covid19.

I booked for 5 nights and stayed for 7. Manolis, his wife and the cleaner were the best hosts I could have wished for. As a single female traveller I felt welcomed, & safe. The architecture and art were beautiful. My room was a single with a gorgeous balcony looking over the city of Chania. Great WiFi! It’s a bit of a walk away from town but if you have time on your side like me- you’ll enjoy meandering into the town. Either walking or there is a regular local bus close by that operates frequently. I stayed in Room 1 for 5 nights as a solo traveller. The room was basic but spotlessly clean with an air conditioning unit that worked well. My room at the front of the hotel shared a balcony with the adjacent room, but I think other rooms had their own. The position is great if you want to the in the centre of the old town, which is bust past midnight. The restaurant downstairs, run by the same very friendly family since 1965, serves honest home cooked food of great quality. The live Cretan music played every evening was a draw for me, but perhaps some would appreciate it less. The sound within the hotel was the only drawback for me, with sound travelling between the rooms at times very clearly, but it was nothing a set of earplugs couldn’t solve! For those on a tight budget, who appreciate Cretan music and don’t want to go to bed early this place is highly recommended. I shall return!

Also no one to ask questions to however they have a sister hotel just down the road so if you needed anything they were helpful 2. It’s kind of tucked away and so at night your walking thorough and empty parking lot with locals . Usually drunk men just hanging about in packs. Traveling alone this is a little off putting for me

What an amazing location!!! You do get dropped off a short walk from the hotel as it is in the historic district and they don't let cars in at certain hours plus the actual hotel is only accessible by an alleyway. Our room was on the top level overlooking the beautiful harbor and we stayed here 4 nights as part of our honeymoon and it was just beautiful, we will definitely be back to this hotel. As a welcome there is a small carafe of raki infused with honey (which is really nice) that is refilled as needed and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Nicos who was on reception was great, incredibly friendly and helpful with recommending restaurants etc, reception is not manned 24hrs so you need to use your key to get back in. We didnt have breakfast at the hotel as as soon as you walked out of the hotel there were just so many to choose from. HIGHLY recommend this great hotel when you visit Chania, right in the heart of everything.

We stayed in Portou Due, rooms serviced by the nearby Elia hotel. You cannot drive to the rooms, you will be dropped either by the Alpha Bank at the top of Halidon or in Talos Square at the bottom of Theotokopolou, the hotel and rooms are just a short walk. Our suite had a bedroom with very comfortable queen bed, air con, towelling robes, slippers, etc etc. Lovely! And located in the heart of the old town, it was a wonderful stay. Angela on reception was an absolute star! Highly recommended.

This is one of the most warm-hearted hotels! Especially in the middle of the night, I came to an unfamiliar city and met the staff who really waited for a long time. The kind of warmth is beyond words. Thanks to their dedicated service, I have a deep memory of the hotel's creed: HOSPITALITY COMES FROM HEART. Since we wanted to go to the Samaritan Grand Canyon the next morning, we did not know how to pick up the bus or ship. A touch of black. MR MARIOS on duty that night gave us the most patient help. At 6 o'clock the next day, I also asked the hotel's food and beverage department to prepare a rich breakfast for each of us. The hotel's room has two hair dryers, which is great for ladies with long hair or curly hair! Of course, there are ironing utensils. The warmest thing is that there are tea bags, not just coffee, which is really a seemingly insignificant but warm heart for Chinese tourists. The breakfast environment is very bright and clean. The waiters are plentiful, they are always watching silently around you and providing the necessary services in a timely manner. It is worth mentioning that even if there are many people, the whole dining atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful. Under the sunshine, there is a pure and beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed a single night (€60 with breakfast for two). The hotel is in the heart of the atmospheric Old Town, less than 100 metres from the harbour's waterside. The room was spacious, in height as well as width. The shower was a delight by Greek standards - a fixed overhead mount, in a glass enclosure (there is a hand-held option if you don't want to get your hair wet). Breakfast was well worth the additional charge, although if they had asked what we wanted they might have saved some ham which we were not interested in. There was some noise from customers at neighbouring businesses until the early hours, although I think the music stopped at midnight. If you have access issues, there is a 200m walk to the nearest taxi access, and at least two steps down to the ground floor rooms. We would be happy to stay here again if visiting Chania.

This was my second visit to the Elia Bettollo and it will always be my first choice in Chania. Spotlessly clean room, beautiful bathroom with spacious walk in shower, air conditioning, along with a balcony with views over the old city. There was even a Krups coffee maker in the room. Took breakfast at a table on the balcony while enjoying the wide range of cuisine on offer. Charming receptionist made me feel very welcome.

I arrived and was greeted by the very friendly owner. He showed me around and ensured everything was up to par - which it absolutely was. Wifi is strong, the place is clean, beautifully decorated and designed, and the bed is comfortable. I only have great things to say about this place! Highly highly recommend it! Amazing value for money! Also very close to the old town and the beach.

We had the most wonderful stay and the Halepa Hotel. We arrived by car and were able to conveniently park in their gated lot. Yet, in 15 to 20 minutes, we could walk and be in the old town of Chania. This was perfect for us, as we did not have to hassle for parking in the old town, yet could easily access it by foot. And once we walked into Chania, after seeing the crowds of people and cars looking for parking, we were glad we didnt have to drive into it and look for a parking lot and then find our way with luggage to a hotel. Everyone at the front desk was extremely helpful. I am sorry I dont recall all your names, but everyone was courteous, friendly and helpful. Thank you Eleftheria for all your help at check out and for making me breakfast when I could not eat the eggs and cheese presented at the buffet. I would highly recommend this hotel for a clean , comfortable stay. We were in a superior room in the traditional part of the hotel. It was very large and had the type of character we enjoy. Lots of charm and characted , as opposed to a modern, sterile environment. Thank you and we cant wait to return.

Great location and hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean rooms and great choice for breakfast. We came to Chania for our family holidays, and we were surprised but quality and amazing rooms we have received (two joined rooms - superior family option, very comfortable beds, on third floor with the view on the pool, which was great as we could enjoy sitting outside in the afternoon in a shaded balcony as the temperature outside was really high 30-31 degree). This is great location, about 10 min to the beach and the same to the city centre and port. There is great next door family restaurant Kokido that I would recommend to anyone (good price, great food and very nice friendly owner). Good quality gym and free safe. Definitely will go back in the future.

Staying at any of the Elias hotels are a wonderful way to establish a home base in Crete. They are centrally located in Chania and are staffed by some of the most kind & caring people. My wife & I recently stayed at the Elia Daliani and it was just delightful. Situated between a bustling street with cafes, shops & tavernas and the old market - everything you need is moments away. The room is bright & airy with a mini fridge & bathroom with and amazing shower. Very simply decorated - it is the perfect place to unwind, rest after a day of sightseeing in the heat of summer and sit out on the balcony overlooking the old market... If you are lucky to meet Dimitra who runs reception in the Elia Betolo, you are in for a real treat. She is bright & passionate about helping her guests truly get the best Chania has to offer. She helped us book great restaurants including the understated but just delightful Mikios Taverna, Pallas with a great view & the best seats!! And of course the Thalasino Ageri... all equally lovely. She is warm, very caring and a truly special person. As the Elias family of hotels also offers access to other Elias locations we were sure to take advantage of the Elias Agia Marina hotel too. A lovely hotel also wonderful staff Sylvia at reception who assured us fresh towels & lounge chairs & umbrellas by the beach at no extra cost.... what makes this location spectacular, is not only the beautiful beach, perfectly calm sea just perfect for swimming but another fantastic Elias staff member George, who looked after us, with lovely coffee, wine & snacks while on the beach. He is not only charismatic but wise and helpful and also helped to make us feel right at home at this sister hotel. Lastly, we also took advantage of the day trip offering to Balos from the hotel and again we met other truly wonderful staff, the professional driver & the “tour guide” Zanina, who is a font of knowledge in archeology in the region. They are both the icing on the cake. Well done Elias hotels!! We will be looking to come back very soon. ❤️

Poco Loco is on the edge of Chania old town, looking out to the old town walls. There is street parking although it can be hard to get something in the middle of the day (and none at all on Saturdays when there’s a street market) - there’s a car park a minute’s walk away that’s only a few euros. There is a few pebbly places 5 minutes down the road where you could have a swim in the ocean but no actual beaches as such nearby. The walk to the main shopping area and restaurants is around 5 minutes through winding old back streets - we got happily lost a number of times. There’s a self serve laundry a couple of small blocks away (take change, the local shops don’t like giving it out). Poco Loco has 5 rooms and we stayed Room 4, the triple with seaview. This was on the 2nd floor (two flights of stairs, no lift). The view out the front is over the old walls and is sea glimpses rather than a full sea view but still pretty. Our room actually had three rooms, the first one from the front door overlooking the back into the old town had a single bed and a small bar fridge. Then the bathroom then the bigger bedroom with a queen bed and the the sea view (facing east with blockout curtains). Good airflow if you open windows on both sides and space on the tiny Juliet balcony to hang out washing. Bathroom is small like a lot of Greek bathrooms. Cabinet with a bit of storage. Hot water was a little on the cool side but it was so warm, that was not a problem at all. Extra pillows were in the wardrobe which had lots of space. Basic breakfast was included in the charge (toast, fresh orange juice and coffee) with with other options for an extra one or two euros - we had the yogurt and seeds with fruit which was delicious. My initial email inquiries were answered within a day or so, with informative answers. Staff were nice. Rooms were cleaned once a day. Deck on the roof was good for sunbaking. Chania itself is lovely and was my favourite town in Crete, I'd love to go back. Minor less than optimal stuff - the road it’s on is not large but gets a bit of traffic so it can be noisy occasionally - I’m a light sleeper and I had to use earplugs for noisy motorbikes. The rooms at the back would probably be fine. The tiny shower had a shower curtain which was a bit challenging to avoid getting shrinkwrapped by (hint -close the bathroom door). The bed was very hard - some Greek beds seem to be but this was bordering on uncomfortable. Wifi was a bit hit and miss. We asked George about it and he said the local infrastructure is a bit off and on. Staff are not on site all the time (although available by phone) so often we were there by ourselves. This was mostly OK, and I don't expect them to be hanging around just for the sake of it, so probably not really a negative, just kind of unusual.

Filoxenia studios are run by the owner, Emmanouela, & her family. They’re across the road from the sandy beach but in a quiet location. Everywhere in the village is just 5 mins walk away. I stayed in 2 of the ground floor studios & they were spotlessly clean. The softest bed I’ve ever slept on in Crete & immaculate bedding & towels. Well equipped with kettle, toaster, coffee machine & 2 rings. Fridge with freezer compartment & ample crockery & cutlery. I was treated like a member of the family & wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Think its the first time in our 81 past bookings with Booking.com we've felt sorrow, almost, upon leaving. It made us think of the last emir of Granada, weeping when looking back on his lost capital. This was our 'Alhambra'. Since 'everybody already knows', judging from Booking.com, it's no use trying to keep this a secret; this is the place to stay in Chania. Spectacular views. From snow-clad Lefka Ori to the Cretian sea. Just above the old Venetian Harbour of Chania. Six large windows. Rooms with a View, that's it. Shower, bed, fridge, saftybox. We've had larger, more exclusive, better facilities, better equipped apartments, but this is undoubtedly the best place we've ever stayed. 600 meters from the KTEL, Public bus service in Chania/Crete. Who used to live here, throughout the centuries, until the Age of Tourism. If the walls could talk, they should have had some interesting answers. Second floor, but really like it was fourth, since 5-6 meters from floor to ceiling. Some (bearable) disco noise from below. Sadly, it was not possible to stay for more than three nights, since it was already booked. About 20 out of 25 Booking.com-pictures could be from our apt., but there are 3 others. Might confuse.
