First impressions count! When you arrive at the car park of this premier inn you are greeted with a car park / rubbish dump! It is absolutely disgusting. Overfilling skips, rubbish lying around everywhere, we really didn’t feel comfortable leaving our car. Also there were groups of boys racing around the car park on scooters (in between cars) and playing football next to the entrance of the brewers Fayre. We mentioned our horror at the cleanliness to the man in reception who stated that it is impossible to keep the car park clean with the type of clientele they receive! The filth continued in all public areas, the outside area was full of cigarette ends and the lift had rubbish in for the full duration of our stay. We booked this hotel for its location to Cadbury world, we live in Yorkshire so are not familiar with the area. We would under no circumstances stay here again with our young children. Dirty, noisy hotel with rude, unfriendly staff, who really couldn’t care less! Not recommended.

We stayed 2 nights here, first night our son’s bed was broken, they had made this bed up knowing it was broken?? You have to ask why?. They Changed this room on Saturday afternoon to a new room! What we thought was better!!! Staff helpful though. But we soon found out to our cost that this room! Hadn’t been left ready for new customers! Only one towel not tea and coffee tiny bit toilet paper no soap We used the bath and it started to leaking so we couldn’t use this anymore There was a bad smell around the bed We couldn’t find it or pinpoint the smell at first so we went to bed 🛌 as we all had a very long day! It wasn’t until we were actually in bed that we could we smell sick on the bedding or duvet! We rolled this back as we couldn’t move at 11.30pm to another room as my son was asleep 💤 we had already moved that day, so for a two night stay to move three times would have been unacceptable. So we just turned down the bedding! We spoke to Shaun the manager on Sunday morning who was very good and helpful and went above and beyond to help us and understood what we were complaining about. Premier Inn customer services man was useless and couldn’t understand what had happened totally unacceptable, I have had to go to his Manager to get some satisfaction.

I attended here for a seminar in November, and was looking forward to staying. The room I was put in (102) was very small, with a very uninspiring view, but that didn’t really bother me - until I went to make myself a coffee, and couldn’t find the plug socket! It is totally out of reach of the desk and kettle, under the bedside table, a couple inches from the skirting board. I was brought an extension cable to plug the kettle into - I was grateful but know that this isn’t really the safest way, there should be adequate power points in the room. I was persuaded by my companions that I should request a change of room, as the above was unacceptable. After dinner (which was very enjoyable indeed), I requested this at the front desk, and was told I’d have to pay £3 to move, which I didn’t agree with, politely saying it wasn’t really through choice! The manager was called and seemed quite put out at my request, and came back to the room with me, he was quite brusque. I must point out that this was not my imagination, my companions felt the attitude shown was rude, rather than amiable. I was offered another room (104) which absolutely fine, and I accepted it. I was left with the impression that I was inconveniencing him - and that’s not right. Everything else about the stay was lovely, bar and restaurant staff cheerful and polite. I don’t like being negative and always try and be constructive with criticism, and give praise where it’s due. This has been a bit of both - but please give 102 an overhaul! Below are the pics of kettle, socket etc - but also the lovely food, and the view from 104. I would like to come back again, focus on the positive.

The Old Farm Hotel has been a family favourite for many years hosting wedding, Christening and on this occasion, a small birthday celebration that had had to be curtailed due to Covid restrictions. Currently run by Nikki and Stephen, the hotel has been much improved and updated recently, combining more modern minimalist interiors with the traditional features of this beautiful Bournville building and garden. The hotel is not only Covid compliant but nothing is too much trouble for the polite, friendly and hardworking team. Beds were comfy and it was lovely to hear the chimes from the famous Art School clock in the village. Breakfast was tasty and delivered as requested, on time, to our socially distanced family table ‘bubbles’ in the dining room. A real home from home for us. Thank you for helping to create something special from the remnants of what was originally planned.

Booked in at short notice for the weekend, the first thing that strikes you on entering is the aroma of fresh flowers on the reception desk. Check in was easy and our room certainly had the wow factor. The hotel is clean comfortable and well equipped, breakfast was great served by a really nice smiley young lady who made sure we had plenty of coffee toast etc. Parking was free so that's a bonus as well and the transport links into the city are just a stones throw away. There is very little I can fault, the biggest one being the noise from the main road outside which despite double glazing, you could still hear the buzz of the traffic outside which when you live in a rural area it is something you notice,. However that is not something that the owners can be blamed for and there is little they can do to negate it. We look forward to seeing you again on our next visit in the new year.

I stayed five nights at this hotel the week before last when in Birmingham for work. The hotel is old but, I would assume, fairly recently modernised. The layout, likely owing to the age of the place, is all over the place. Lifts aren’t by the reception desk and you have to go down a couple steps to get to them so I’m guessing the hotel isn’t wheelchair accessible, either, which is kind of shocking if true. If you take the stairs, things get even weirder as the stairs don’t even line up so you do a lot of wandering about to get to the top floor. Rooms are small but modern. The bed is basic but acceptable. TVs are very basic and bathrooms are dingy - windowless and with dirty pull cords for the mirror light. If you ask for an ironing board these are well worn, also. Walls in the bedrooms are paper thin, too, so take note of this if you’re a light sleeper. I spent three of my five nights listening to the woman in the next room coughing as clearly as if she were right beside me in bed. There’s also no air conditioning and even with the window open in autumn the room is stuffy. All in all, although cheap, I wouldn’t stay again. Hagley Road has a lot of budget hotels and I’d doubt this is either the worst or the best. On the plus side, there is ample free parking - just remember to register for the full length of your stay on the screens in the lobby.

It takes 8 pounds to drive from the Victoria Square in the city center to the hotel gate. The time is about 10 minutes. The hotel is located 3 minutes walk from the north gate and east gate of University of Birmingham. Inside, there is an authentic Western breakfast, lunch, and a separate hall. When you come here, you will encounter a British wedding and many academic exchanges. It is a great choice for business or tourism.

My Wife and I have stayed at this hotel a few times and like its location just outside the city centre, but handy for Broad Street and the shops. However, this was our first Marriott stay since the COVID crisis and I have to say that the hotel has actually gone up in my estimation because of the way that are handling things. The precautions started with a comprehensive email prior to check in, letting us know what to expect. When we checked in the formalities were handled very well with a good one way system, lots of screens and plenty of hand sanitiser available. We were given drinks vouchers, and booked a time for breakfast at check in. The room was clean, and up to Marriott standards. The hotel is an old building, and some of the fixtures reflect this, but it is well furnished and the bed was super comfortable. The bar and restaurant were closed, but there are numerous alternatives nearby on Broad Street and beyond. In the morning the breakfast room was eerily quiet, but the service and food quality were first class - we were given cereals of choice, and then I had a full English whilst my Wife had an omelette , these were accompanied by lots of coffee and toast. All in all the stay was excellent, made better by the ever helpful and cheerful staff. We will certainly go back.

I’ve stayed at several Penta Hotels before on numerous occasions, so I know the general brand layout and the services they are supposed to offer. This was probably the poorest and most disappointing stay to date. I checked in on what seemed to be a busy Saturday afternoon at the end of February, well I say busy, judging by the queue and the time it took to check me in. The first thing I noticed was there was no draught lager on. This was very disappointing, especially when I had been looking forward to a few cold pints after a tough week at work. It was Saturday, the busiest day of the week and both draught lagers were off for the entirety of my stay. As bottles are £5 each for only 330ml, in essence it cost me £10 a pint! Takes away the novelty element of the 24 hour bar too. 24 hour bottle bar. Poor management or a way of increasing turnover? I asked the staff but they didn’t seem concerned about it. The room was ok, but the television wasn’t tuned in at all and it took me a while to tune it in, and even then the free movies etc weren’t on offer either. The Hotel is also supposed to offer 24 hour food & room service. I went to the bar at 1.30am and asked if I could order a pizza to take back to my room. To be greeted with the following responses is not great customer service “You’re the fourth person that’s asked. The Chef has closed the kitchen” No sincere apology or explanation. No 24 hour room service. Although I was fairly late to bed, (had to wait for an Uber Eats delivery instead), I thought I’d be able to sleep in a bit. No chance at all of a lie-in on a Sunday morning. All I could hear was cleaners on the floor outside my room from about 8am. This, defeats the object of the normal checkout time of Midday, and late checkout of 3pm for a Sunday! As I couldn’t sleep, I ventured down for breakfast. It was poor. The cooked breakfast choice on offer was limited and not replenished. It wasn’t very tasty either, and the orange juice was horrible. To summarise, I expected a lot more from my Penta stay, especially when I’d spent the rather hefty amount of £105 to stay there. It’s a lot of money for what was a sub standard stay.

After a very frightening encounter with an intruder on February 20, I must highlight a serious security problem with the Premier Inn New Street hotel. Premier Inn are my favourite hotel chain, and I stay in their hotels many times a year. But the New Street hotel has a very unusual - and dangerous - design. Entry from the street is into a small foyer with NO STAFF there at any time. The foyer leads to lifts and stairs. I booked into the hotel for 4 nights (20-23 Feb) to go to an event which finished late each evening. On Thursday 20 February, I came back to the hotel just after 11 pm. I used my keycard to open the door to the stairs, to go to my room on the 3rd floor. I thought this would be a secure route, as only guests and staff with keycards should be able to access it. On the second landing, a man, in outdoor clothes but with his shoes in his hand, was trying to open the glass door which leads to the bedrooms, A keycard is needed to open this, and clearly he did not have one. I saw that muddy possessions were scattered around him, and suspected that he was one of the (sadly, many) homeless people based around New Street Station, who had somehow got into the hotel. I started to climb the next flight of stairs to my floor, and realised that he was following me . I am 66, weigh 8 stone and am not trained in martial arts! Fortunately, I can still run. I ran to the glass door to my floor, and used my keycard, which I had deliberately kept in my hand for quick use. I then slammed the door shut, just in time.Behind me, the man hammered on the door with his fist, and shouted at me at the top of his voice. I have no idea what mental state he was in, or what would have happened if he had caught up with me. He was only about two seconds behind me. There were no other guests or staff to be seen. I was extremely shaken. I locked myself in my room, and realised I ought to ring Reception at once. But there was no telephone with a number for Reception, nor was there a number on any of the hotel information cards in the room. Eventually I overcame shock, looked up the external phone number of the hotel and rang it. The member of staff on Reception was extremely helpful, and promised to investigate and log the call (which they did). The next day I spoke to the day manager on duty, who was called Alex. He could not have been more concerned and considerate. He confirmed that the incident had been logged, and said that he believed the intruder had been found. I was told later by Premier Inn's Customer Care team that the intruder had been described in the hotel log as a 'homeless person'. I must stress that I chose the stairs because the foyer to the hotel and its lift (which is often slow to arrive) are very insecure. By day, anyone can walk into the foyer after pressing the button. I believe that after 11 pm the doors are locked ,and in theory only guests can open them and enter. But I walked into the foyer just after 11 pm, without

I was bought this package as a gift and was bowled over by how lovely it was. We were greeted by the very friendly owner, Mary, with a glass of Prosecco. We then had a fantastic back massage. Our afternoon tea was very very generous and included multiple teas and coffees, a large jug of orange juice and melon to finish. The place is clean and modern and we were asked several times if we were happy with the music in the background and our tea. An absolutely lovely experience and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

We had booked our hotel via an online booking site months ago but due to covid the booking could not be kept. The site wouldn't give the option to change the date and cancellation would have cost us. we had no choice but to go to the hotel for them to turn us away. Atul Kakrej was on reception and he helped. He could have just sent us on our way and left us to sort a refund ourselves. He didn't do this, he used the hotel phone to call the site, explained it was the hotel cancelling our booking and arranged an immediate refund from the site. We had no hassle and went home happy we hadn't lost our money. Well done to crowne plaza for going above and beyond to help customers. Because of Atul's lovely manner, helpfulness and professionalism we will be re-booking as soon as covid19 allows.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to spend a night in one of the apartments in this great hotel! From the moment we arrived, we felt a little special! The check in was easy, and informative and the staff were very pleasant and cheerful. Our room was nothing short of exceptional. Clean, tidy and very spacious with all the amenities you would expect from a 5* hotel! We were fortunate enough to have an apartment on the top floor, with French doors leading out to a large patio, with stunning views of the city! Would recommend the small charge for the secure car parking on site. Certainly would stay here again when we are in the area, or even any of their many locations across the country or indeed abroad, if the same standard is the norm!

Booked the hotel for a 30th bday. Booked a luxury king room and on arrival was told we had been upgraded to the superior king suite! Stayed in room 2 which is beautiful! Rose petals had been sprinkled everywhere and arranged, which was a lovely and surprising touch. Staff were all really welcoming, helpful, friendly and didn’t mind the tons of balloons etc I had brought with me to display in the room. Everything was clean, and we had a very comfortable and luxurious stay. All the extra little finishes and touches in the room set this hotel apart from the rest, especially the bath tub! We also had drinks in the cocktail lounge downstairs, waiter was helpful and took the time to explain the menu and find us a cocktail which suited dietary requirements and personal taste. The starter food wasn't very hot, chargrilled pitas were burnt, we asked for the bacon on the burgers to be on the side one came with it in the burger! The cost of the overall meal did not reflect the food or the service we got. Very disappointing!

On 7th march was my moms 90th birthday celebration at the hallmark hotel, and the staff went above and beyond to make my mother’s experience amazing. The events manager Rachael and chef Tom were absolutely fantastic throughout the planning process and catered the event to all of our needs. We cannot than them enough as I am convinced that without them and the staff behind them the celebration would not have been such a fantastic turnout. Whenever I wanted to contact them, they were available to speak and answer all my questions… and believe me I had a lot! Every enquiry and issue we had was resolved in such a promptly manner with the at most professionalism by all the staff helping at the event and during the set up. From the staff at the front desk to the catering assistants everyone was very polite and prompt to ensure the area was clean, tidy and presentable. The menu was specifically arranged with Tom to cater to the event culture, and was made to such a great quality it was better than my mother, the guests and myself could ever imagine. Furthermore, many guests assumed it was an external caterer and I was proud to say that I met the head onsite chef who reassured me it would be fine... what an understatement. All the guests were so impressed with it all, An entirely Caribbean meal which was more than enough to feed the guests twice over, and was the at most flavoursome, quality, freshly made food and kept hot when being served. The catering at the venue was updated about three times and not once did I get any complaints from the chef event though this may have been slightly disruptive. The hotel space itself was very clean, tidy and the décor was quite sophisticated. The range of space between the lounge and the main hall was easily accessible for all and meant that there was plenty of space for all the guests. Not only did we admire the hall space we had used but many of the guest travelled from all over the UK and booked rooms at the hotel for an overnight stay, none of which had made any complaints. They loved the fact all the rooms had double beds, flat screens, onsite parking and the option to have breakfast too. The breakfast of which was very fulfilling and had a wide range of options of fresh quality food.

My booking was confirmed to stay the 26/06/20 at this travelodge, which I’d made that same day. I understand the stay was booked during COVID-19, although I am a key worker and was having trouble at home so needed a night away. When booking the hotel it said open to support key workers, in which I work in a dental practice for the NHS. I was able to provide evidence of this. Also when proceeding with the payment it offered me the option to select business or leisure, I chose leisure as the stay wasn’t work related. However when I arrived at the hotel and provided my indications that I’m a key worker they declined my stay as it weren’t for business, they said I could’ve only stayed there if the stay was due for work. I think this is poor of travelodge and the website for not mentioning my stay had to be work related just had to be a key worker. The payment still proceeded and even though it was a saver rate, I still think I’m entitled to a refund as it is false advertisement, by not stating clearly that the key worker has to be working the during the stay. Also it should not have give me the option to choose leisure during this time to still take my money. I can’t fault the reception staff as it weren’t their fault, they were helpful as they gave me a contact number to contact customer services and email, but I haven’t heard anything back after doing so straight away, I do understand this is a busy time. Regards, Eden.

I had this hotel booked months in advance for a concert at the arena opposite but obviously due to COVID everything is postponed, I decided to keep the hotel anyway and do a little shopping. The hotel looks very tired and in need of a transformation outside but inside was clean, tidy and the room was huge! Everything I needed was provided and the lady on the desk who I believe was called Marjorie was so friendly and welcoming & checked me in slightly early. We ended up chatting for around 15 minutes, she was so nice I popped to the Sainsbury opposite and purchased the staff some chocolate biscuits for their break! Only downsides were the bar opposite waking me up in the early hours emptying their bottle bins, so I’d definitely ask for a room on the opposite side if I stayed again, also the whole of broad street is closed off to traffic while they install the new tram system so you may have to go out of your way to the hotel around the diversions in place. Everything else was top notch and I’d definitely stay again, also...there’s a great Wetherspoon just down the street and a five guys which sells amazing burgers!

My aunty had booked me into Staybridge Suites Birmingham for 3 nights using her reward points (this is allowed according to IHG reservations), my name was added under the "Additional Guest" field. I arrived late to the hotel and proceeded to check in. I was asked for the name under which the reservation was made, I confirmed my aunties name and mentioned that my name was also in the booking. He then asked me for government issued ID, I showed him my passport - This was the first time ever I have been asked for government issued ID whilst staying in hotels within the UK (being a frequent traveller, I have stayed in many hotels). He then informed me that I was NOT ALLOWED TO CHECKIN because my aunty was not with me despite my name being on the booking. He said she would have to send an email, this was around 10pm saying I be allowed to stay. I then asked to speak to the manager who confirmed that I would not be allowed to checkin under the booking despite my name being on the booking. I also asked if I could contact member services and if they stated I am allowed to checkin would that be honoured, they both implied "we are running this place and don't care". I offered for them to pre-authorise an amount for the whole stay from my credit card, I also offered to be allowed to checkin for 1 night and return in the morning to sort this out; as I was extremely shattered. He said I could only stay if I made a NEW RESERVATION. I asked him what about the cancellation of the previous booking so that the points can be returned, he said a full refund will be provided, due to COVID-19 rules are currently relaxed. However, he stated that he was unable to cancel the stay, which could only be done by IHG member services. I told them that they had made me feel extremely unwelcome, they did nothing to make things better. I made a new reservation for 1 night and checked into the room. I arrived in my room and called IHG member services whom again confirmed that I should be allowed to checkin. I told them what had happened, whom then said that the first night will be chargeable to cancel the reservation. I then asked them to contact the front desk, finally they agreed to a full refund. After which, I called the front desk again to tell them. The night-manager said that he was not bothered about me complaining. It feels like the 2 men were subcontractors who don't care about the business. They told me that they have had people book under others name and committed fraud. Does it really mean that you drop your standards if you had fraud and think every brown person is going to rob you? Nothing was sorted in the night and they asked me to speak to the morning colleagues. In the morning, I was met by an extremely nice lady who helped me in all aspects of my stay from breakfast to late checkout. As well as making the gym available to myself and arranging a meeting with the guest relations manager. The guest relations manager and her colleague at rec

Booked online for £27.99! Arrived late so little car park in front or hotel was full but there must be 500 spaces in big car park 5 mins away opposite hotel. How one reviewer says parking was poor i don’t know. You take a token and next morning the travel lodge zap it and then when you leave it let’s you out for free! Room was clean and spacious, all look over the car park and not road. Retail park 5 mins drive away. Honestly it’s a great place for a quick pit stop!

The hotel had a few pros and cons. Check in and reception was fine, very friendly and professional. The room however was dusty, I ended up getting some wipes to clean the dust off. The room is in need of a revamp. The carpet was a bit stained and worn in and the furniture could do with updating. The view was fab, the bed was comfy enough and the shower was great, best shower I've used. I paid a fair amount for the room and didn't feel it was worth the price I paid at all. Sadly wouldn't go back unless they did refurbish the rooms or the price was a lot cheaper. The staff are great though.

Hotel location is very good, just inside the school, the environment is also good & #128077; & # 127999;, around the Tesco supermarket, ten minutes walking distance from the city center! The room is small, the bathroom is small, the washbasin is the size of two lunch boxes, and the ground that will be washed will be all water! The bed is small and narrow, it seems to be about 1.3 meters, poor husband 1 meter eight people. . . However, it seems that Europe is such a room, so I don't say anything! Hotel breakfast tastes good! Baked bread is super delicious! Classic British breakfast variety, service is still very good!

08/12/2020 If you travel regularly, you will be familiar with the concept that "Top Secret Deals" aside, you really do get what you pay for. Now, it's lockdown again, Birmingham is at level3, so my expectations were tempered; no breakfast buffet, no restaurants open, eating in my room etc.But this was still very disappointing. On check-in, only one member of staff on duty, very polite and helpful and dealt with quickly, but neglected to ask for my Hilton Honours membership number. No member upgrades offered. All staff have been helpful, pleasant and very efficient given restrictions imposed. No night time disturbances written about by other guests, but i was staying mon-wed. Nearest cashpoint at the Tesco Supermarket further up the street. Room (112) was decently sized, furnishings in good condition and "clean stay" stickered (are you not already cleaning all these extra areas? should I be worried about that?). Window had view of flat roof between another bank of rooms, with a thin slit of a "view" but blessedly VERy quiet and didn't have to worry about the railtrack facing rooms and the constant tram noise. Some noise from nearby lift, but hotel was largely quiet, with floors 2-4 closed. Large shower with plenty of hot water, but lowish pressure..Basic tea and coffee supplied, toiletries were bolted to the wall dispensers, towels clean and fresh smelling, but a little stiff. Little else provided. Bed was firm and creaking springs, but comfortable. Heating would not go higher that 24c, noisy gurglings on startup so turned off during the night. Breakfast was a continental affair served in a pizza box (Banana, ham, cheese, sausage roll, bread roll, yoghurt, waffle, croissant, juice box, additional tea and coffee) . Overall it was okay and edible, and as good as I could hope for having already been advised to expect this (see pic). One 2nd day, returned to my room and housekeeping had not been in. Given that we are required to eat in our rooms, this is far from ideal, and I resorted to leaving my bin and empty takeaway boxes outside. I don't know if this is a policy under lockdown or if I had been forgotten, but nothing had been mentioned at check-in. Pros: Good location, plenty of power sockets, modern feel and furniture in good condition, nice pillows and towels. Cons: Hard bed, tiny window will not much light, housekeeping forgot about me, edible breakfast, but you'll want to get something elsewhere. Overall, this is NOT a hotel representative of Hilton and expectations should be set accordingly. I won't complain too much for £40/night and given lockdown requirements closing many other local hotels, but this fell far short of the "Hilton Service" I've been accustomed to. Premier Inn or Ibis would be nearest competitor.

So me and the boys decided we’d travel up the treaturous M6 to Birmingham, for a night out in broad street. Booked a room in this place and wow, it exceeded all of our expectations. The room was immaculate with plenty of space, and the shower was unreal. Staff were polite and very helpful, can’t really ask for anything more. Only issue was that there wasn’t a hair dryer for one of the more feminine lads, and we did struggle to meet the check out time of 10AM after a heavy night out on the #lash All in all, a top quality service, would highly recommend and I’m sure I’ll be returning frequently in the future. Thank you and god bless.

I stayed here for one night due to work commitments locally. The management team did their due diligence (i.e. documentation, ID, etc) in making sure that it was a legitimate essential work reason - I did not mind that at all. Usually I would stay at the Staybridge Suites nearby, however, they insisted on asking non-sensical questions that did not make any sense or relate to my work! Therefore, I opted for SC. The Guest Relations Manager took upon herself to personally book my reservation and verify all the documents, even though it was late in the day, 18.45 - very impressive. As for the apartment (Clubman): - Reasonably priced. - Well equipped kitchen - all utensils, white goods, coffee pods, breakfast granola and oats and to my surprise, a selection of oranges to use with the juicer. - Good quality bathroom with a large bathtub and shower with adequate pressure, which is often not the case in many serviced condo-hotels. An excellent selection of toiletries as well. - Comfortable double bed with good quality linen. Overall, a very pleasant stay, albeit for 1 night only.

Location was good just next to China town and a few minutes walk from city Centre and Birmingham new street station. Staffs were friendly they even gave us a bigger room when requesting for a twin bed. Security guards were there after 9 or 10 to make sure nobody enters the hotel except for those who live there thus it is safe. Amenities wise it was fair. Hotel is perfect for budget travellers

A lovely young lady named Brooke is always helpful, always smiling no matter what. Myself and my partner have come a few times now to this Premier inn and mainly because of the service we get from Brooke. I have noticed she works nights and for someone being on a night shift and being Jolly at all times is amazing. Most of the times we get fobbed off by staff, but she always goes that extra mile with her service and is so wonderful. We order food most nights and the takeaways don’t provide any cutlery and Brooke always gives us plastic cutlery wrapped in plastic wrappers. Love the fact she follows all the guidelines at the same time for covid 19 and makes us feel safe coming to the hotel. We wouldn’t go anywhere else and we have come and stayed a few times already in the week because of her. Can’t thank her enough and she is so much credit to the company.
