0.64km from FNB BankCityThough the hotel was very nice and comfortable, but it is in an extremely noisy part of town, I hardly slept through the car and people’s noise from the street. The parking is also way too tight with a single entry & exit point, I don’t think they must allow big cars to park there, or rather alert the drivers of the sharp and tight corners before they drive in.
0.71km from FNB BankCityThe hotel was empty when we stayed there over the weekend. We were one of 2 tables at breakfast and dinner. You could hear a pin drop. The room had a shower and a tub which was nice. No water was provided. The vending machine doesn’t give change but has beer. (Which requires a token though not stated on machine. ). The rooms are so noisy- the multitude of sounds come in.... people yelling, cars honking, brakes screeching. The breakfast buffet is good. The mall is attached with less expensive dining options. The staff is very helpful.
0.8km from FNB BankCityI asked a quote from Safarinow.com, it was r215. When I called the Business Hotel office, I was told it costs r320 to book-in for a single night. I decided to go to the offices instead of making an online booking. When I got there, the guy t he reception increased it by r50...making it r370. I asked why this wasn't said when i called, let alone listed on the sites, he said "angazi nami". I get into the room I'm booked into, Its lovely, beautiful view, but the toilet leaks...WOW
1.06km from FNB BankCityThe booked room does not include breakfast. The breakfast is about 100 RMB per person. The type is OK, the taste is good, and the service is OK. The booked rooms are also large, with halls and balconies. Overall good!
1.08km from FNB BankCityThe place and the room was great, the only problem was noise down stares ,but I loved the room with big enough bed, even though the WiFi password was wrong,I would still choose Bannister hotel over the whole lot of joburgs hotel.
1.68km from FNB BankCityNice revamp, few glitches but overall a nice safe comfortable hotel in an ideal location. Closet all markets and food courts, also has newly introduced breakfast onsite. Parking is safe but a little tricky. But most important is it is safe
1.72km from FNB BankCityI won a night's accommodation at Hallmark House Hotel for winning 2nd place in the Jacaranda photo competion. The rooftop has the most breathtaking views of the iconic Johannesburg skyline I have ever seen! The music and vibe was fantastic. Our room was neat and spacious, the dinner and breakfast was amazing, the hospitality was outstanding. Overall, it was an exceptional experience. I will definitely recommend.

1.86km from FNB BankCityI recently had to go to Johannesburg to visit a very close dear friend ( brother love) who underwent major surgery. Having tons of family and friends in JHB my wife opted just out of kicks to book a place near the hospital so we could spend most of our time at hospital. Playfully we browse the net and found Alcazaba Lodge In Fordsburg . We were promted by" Muslim Owned"and decided to book. Wow after being so well received on the telephone by Ms.Bernice. I opted to make a causal booking with the intention of arriving to review and confirm on arrival. This met the approval Bernice. With nothing to lose I pitched up at the Lodge on Friday afternoon. To my surprise I was shown the options of two rooms. Both were very warm and comfortable. However I chose to take the penthouse room purely for its added space and breath taking views. The beds, bath, kitchenette, lounge and ambience was outstanding. The stay, service, and Staff were fantastic. The stay was a very memorable. The only downside is parking, whilst they have an arrangement, there are limitations. But accomodation was truly worth every cent. I highly recommend this Lodge to anybody looking for accommodation in Central Johannesburg. Well done Bernice and Staff of Alcazaba Lodge.
2.03km from FNB BankCityWe spent two nights in the 12 Decades Hotel with a really cool room and great views of the city. We loved the individual art concept, our room was very spacious and light with a huge shower and two double beds. Staff were very friendly and the room was clean. There are several nice bars and restaurants nearby.

2.77km from FNB BankCityThis hotel is very beautiful, relatively old, decorated with old British style, with closets. But it is too old, there is a musty smell, there are universities nearby, belonging to the suburbs, there is no place to eat nearby, to take a taxi. The customer said that this area is dangerous and can't be strolled on the road, so we started to eat and stay at the hotel for the first 2 days.
Hotels Near Fnb Bankcity In Johannesburg Review
This is probably One of the most beautiful boutique hotels I’ve ever been. It’s Very stylish with stunning designs and lots of character. I stayed in the Acacia Suite which had a tub and a balcony. I took an Uber from the airport and it was about 30 minutes ride. The neighborhood seems to be residential. Very clean and quiet (not much to do around, but i took Ubers everyone). For breakfast I had to choose from the menu and they served it to me to the dinning room. I didn’t see any other guest Neg: 1. They hosted someone’s bday party while I was there so I couldn’t have dinner in the dinning room and the music was playing until midnight . No told me this was happening or apologized for that in advance . So it was quite frustrating knowing that i needed to wake up early for a flight. 2. I wish they gave me some guidelines about the hotel (breakfast time, how to order it, pool time opening / closing/ etc....) 3. Very few outlets in the room. Was challenging to find one to charge. 4. Couldn’t switch on the a/c so it got very warm at night. Despite the neg, if I ever come back to Johannesburg, I’d probably give the Munro boutique hotel another chance.
We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom apartment on arrival. This particular room, on the first floor is situated close to the gym and the business centre is a perfectly situated room if you want a quiet stay to just relax but still see the bustling hive of activity that is Sandton. You can step out onto the balcony that overlooks the American Embassy on Rivonia Road as well as Rivonia Road itself. If it's too much for you, step back in the room, close the sliding door and, for an extra measure of privacy, close the curtains and all of a sudden you're enveloped in this blanket of calm serenity that is your hotel room. The best part of this room is being able to watch a storm roll over Sandton central, all from the safety of your room. The room is equipped with a microwave, stove, washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and iron, toaster, and kettle, crockery, cutlery and glasses as well as a very comfortable couch with big screen smart TV. The bedroom has blockout curtains and a very comfortable king-sized bed. Rooms equipped with USB powered, bedside lamps with 3-stage light intensity as well as another TV. TVs are equipped with satellite TV as well as dedicated YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video buttons on the remote. You can use your own account to log into each. Just remember to sign out when you're done. Both TVs work independently of each other i.e. If you log into Netflix in the lounge, you won't be logged in on the TV in the bedroom. All in all, a hotel worth staying at in Sandton
Had a lovely stay with my colleagues from work at the property. We stayed in a 6 sleeper 2 bedroom cottage which was nice because we were all together. Our unit had a kitchen so there was no need for us to use the Kitchen in the main building. They have a nice garden for relaxing, pool table, foosball and braai area. There is also a braai area which I thought was a bonus.
Spacious clean rooms, heart fully caring management and staff. Arranged late night airport pickup service;pick up and drop off and recommendation to Melville local downtown restaurant; early morning confirmations as per site visit and arranged 5:30 a.m. local transport to Kruger Safari pick up location. More than adequate breakfast...and although out-of-the-way for night life and independent city walk arounds; the management really cared about my safety and all around comfort to and from and stay at their property. Great for solo and couple travellers...
This is a gem. Lovely pool and mature lush gardens replete with giant turtles. Rooms have bedroom, bath, living room, dining area and fully equipped kitchenette. Two stories so it feels like home rather than a big hotel. Across from large shopping complex with groceries, pharmacies, shops, bars and restaurants. Gated and safe. Friendly staff. Amenities abound down to sunscreens at poolside. I’m always debating whether to bring sunscreen, after sun, etc on a business trip and here, the problem was solved for me.
I dont know who could complain about this place. I worked with the hotel directly to book the room and there were no issues with the email communications. The reception staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful and when we asked any questions, the front desk staff were always willing to provide detailed answers and good guidance. We arrived very late and the gentleman and the front desk was more than willing to help bring our luggage to our room. The room was very spacious and modernly decorated and we had no issues with the free wifi. There was a small washer and dryer and a complete kitchen. The bedroom and bathroom were both very large and very comfortable. There were little windows that could be opened to let in some fresh air and our room was cleaned very nicely each day. There is a security guard at the gate in the daytime and monitored at night and they opened the gate for us and we had no problems getting in or out (at night there is on one entrance available to get in, finding this entrance in advance on a map would be recommended). There is nothing right around this location for food so you have to either cab it (cabs are pretty inexpensive in SA), or walk about 5 blocks to the Rosebank mall (the mall is very nice and there is an outside courtyard with many restaurants of all price ranges to choose from). We walked to the mall a number of times in the daylight without any issues. Also, our shuttle driver, who we had for three days had no issues getting in to meet us each morning right at the reception area with lots of parking available. The property is fully gated and it is located in an upscale area of Johannesburg.
This is Johannesburg's best kept secret! The rooms are spacious, ultra luxurious with an understated elegance that allows for complete relaxation. The gardens are beautiful and the perfect setting for reading a good book and the pool is stunning and heated. This hotel deserves everyone of its five stars, the service is legendary. Luke, is possible the best waiter I have ever encountered, Thandeka in reservations takes professionalism to an entirely other level and the owner Ausman is what every hotelier should aspire to His attention to detail and his care and consideration makes your stay an unforgettable experience.
Stayed here on a business trip and it was perfect. Located at the end of the Gautrain from the airport it was very easy to find. The hotel is big with a number of restaurants and a great reception area. The fact that its part of the shopping centre just helps you get around and do a bit more. The staff were very friendly and helped make this a pleasant stay with their warm welcome. The rooms were clean and tidy and very spacious. The bar area is good and comfortable to drink by yourself or with guests. As for the breakfast, very filling and tasty. Thank you, I'll be staying again next time.
The reception at the hotel was really friendly and accommodating. Eager to assist and thorough with communicating with clients. The the rooms are well designed and decorated. The only downside is the restaurant only prepares light meals. However, they provided me with a dail-a-meal pamphlet which covered a lot of eateries in the vicinity. Breakfast was well organised and food was absolutely amasing and with a great variety. The hotel is located just opposite the mediclinic and a number of medical services are located in the vicinity as well. Also provided transport to the airport for a nominal fee. Love the swimming pool and garden. Should probably just invest in lights for the tables at the pool in the event that guests would like to have dinner at the pool.
The place and the room was great, the only problem was noise down stares ,but I loved the room with big enough bed, even though the WiFi password was wrong,I would still choose Bannister hotel over the whole lot of joburgs hotel.
The service was great. Front desk staff are super friendly and were very helpful throughout. Based in the perfect location with almost everything just a walk away - very convenient. The actual apartment was great too. Very comfortable and worth the stay.
Normal brand name hotels get overlooked as travellers think they will just be the same all over, but then you find a brand name hotel like CLFourways and with the biggest amount of OOMPH - that is the only way to describe it. From the moment we checked in - we were welcomed and greeted with warmth and hospitality. Not the normal 'fake smile' you sometimes get, but a true and honest warm welcome. Having all our temperatures checked and following all the relevant COVID Rules - a porter helped us to our respective rooms. The rooms are comfortable - no fancy little things to play with like a light control to change the mood of the room or weird new hotel gadgets - just a good, well appointed, well lit, well designed and comfortable. So many hotel rooms now a days you are scared to sleep in because of all the weird and wonderful things around. Meal service was done via and app (wel done) and the food was delivered fresh and hot to the room. (Very tasty toasted sandwiches)(Also not overpriced) The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms very very well equipped. The breakfast the next monring was done via a menu and the waiter and staff helped tremendously to get through 3 different orders. Whislt waiting for our food we had a look around and just come to realise that this is the PERFECT hotel for a small conference or just an easy stop over when in the Fourways and even Sandton areas. Staying here for a week will also be easy as the rooms are not the size of the matchboxes you get these days. Breakfast was served and was really tasty and well prepared. The checkout process was also done with sheer effeciency. My 15 year old just had the highest praise to give to the staff and congratulate them in all the friendliness and warmth. Even when a receptionist was verbally attacked, everyone kept the calm. An ***** just walked in and demanded to use the breakfast room as a meeting space. She was dumbfounded how people can treat other people, but the staff as always was professional and friendly. BRAVO to Elzabe and her staff - keep up the good work. You guys have new found friend forever!!!!!
I could go on and on about the great time we had at Thornton Gap. First, the service was incredible. Gordon and the rest of the staff were kind and attentive, and they went out of their way to put a personal touch on all the added comforts. Gordon was always available on WhatsApp to set times for breakfast, offer restaurant suggestions, and respond to other concerns. Breakfast is delicious and the laundry service is great! Second, it’s a cozy, 4-room bed and breakfast, which means that you get personal attention every day from all the staff. Third, they have a fantastic coffee machine! We booked the entire place while we were in Johannesburg, and when plans changed and we had to be back a week later, we snagged the rooms again. One piece of advice: book directly through their website, not Airbnb! It’s an automated listing.
Jenny & Bill could not have been more welcoming, friendly, and helpful on our trip. They were at the ready to go above and beyond for anything we needed. Seriously, the hospitality they showed us was incredible. The rooms were very spacious and clean. They had everything we needed. And the shower was so fantastic!!! The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The landscaping outside of our room made us feel like we were at a tropical resort. I would highly recommend their home and look forward to staying with them again if I am ever in Johannesburg again!
The hotel can be said to be the best in the whole of Johannesburg. It is a small hillside in the city. It is a very safe hotel in a place like Johannesburg. It is heavily guarded and densely vegetation. You can see the entire Johannesburg in the restaurant, which is very spectacular . In addition, the hotel has a paid car service. The price is more expensive than a taxi but the service is good. The car is equipped with cologne, charger and Wi-Fi in the car!
What an incredible setting to walk into, the garden is beautiful with interesting art and artsy sweats/chair swings all over the garden. Stunning citrus trees, a pool for Summer (if only it had been summer) and relaxing setting. Hose was extremely welcoming, and a comfortable, homely breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it if you are making a Joburg visit. It is also quite central to the main city with Rosebank, Sandton nearby and cool restaurants in the area.
Claire's has become a bit of a home away from home over the past 7 years. The friendliness of the team and their attention to detail remains consistently high. The rooms and are well presented and housekeeping is excellent and breakfast service is something of a highlight of the day. I cannot compliment Zodwa and the team enough. They keep the standards consistently high and their presence and long service contribute to the consistency and high standards. The peaceful and secure neighbourhood with proximity to Sandton City & Nelson Mandela Square makes this an ideal location. I will certainly be returning.
We've stayed in a lot of guesthouses and hotels in a lot of countries and it is no exaggeration to say that 58 on Hume is one of the best anywhere. The property is stunning, as is its interior design, and our room was beautiful. There were lovely touches everywhere: flowers in the bathroom, sweets left daily, chilled water at night and sherry for a nightcap. The lounge area was also great with indoor and outdoor seating, the latter overlooking the pretty pool area, and a well-stocked honesty bar. The local area is safe and very pleasant to walk around. It's a short stroll to Rosebank and its many shops and restaurants (and the Gautrain) and not much further to those in Illovo. We stayed during the SA v England Test at the Wanderers, which was about a 20 minute walk away. No review would be complete without mentioning the breakfasts. I would challenge anyone to find a better selection: alongside yoghurts and cereals were options such as bircher muesli, there was fruit to make smoothies from, excellent coffee, tea and fresh juices. The hot breakfasts featured any combination of eggs and regular options but also french toast, omelettes and porridge. Everything we tried was superbly cooked. Michelle is a fabulous host and Donald could not be more helpful (as well as being the man behind those amazing breakfasts.) I could not recommend this place more highly and having just spent six nights there I am trying to think of a reason to go back to Joburg and stay there again!
Overall feeling very satisfied! The service can be said to be in place. A small thing, the room will provide a bottle of drinking water every day. I drink more water, so I have one more bottle in the first two days. I didn't expect the waiter to take two bottles of my room every day from the third day! The location is also very safe, opposite the police station, very close to the supermarket shopping mall, you can stroll during the day, it is best not to go out in the dark. The gym and swimming pool are not big, but there are fewer people, and it is very enjoyable to exercise! Breakfast is very rich, be sure to order breakfast, really delicious!
Nice guesthouse, in a quite safe area of Johannesbourg. I stayed there for more than 3 weeks, being in the area for my job. Unfortunately there are not restaurants very close but the guesthouse is not far (less than 3 km) from The Glen Shopping Centre, where you can find many restaurants and fast foods. In addition, the owners now offer the possibility to have dinner in the guesthouse, cooked by them, if reserved in the morning everyday, choosing from a varied menu. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Maybe not so soundproof, you hear loudly if there is noise in the corridor or other rooms nearby. There was no air conditioning in the room. For me it was not a problem, given the good season, but maybe in winter and summer, when it's too cold or too hot, it would be needed. There is no buffet breakfast, but you can choose what you prefer from breakfast, from a selection, and they prepare it for you. The owners and the staff are very nice, friendly and helpful and they make you feel like at home. I enjoyed my stay in Heavenly Guesthouse and I would recommend it.
This beautiful place is absolutely fantastic! You feel home the minute you walk into this gorgeous architect house in that lovely suburb Houghton. The Hosts Sam and Janice are welcoming you so hearty and warm like being a family member! The room with its gorgeous bathroom is spacious and we slept like babies in these wonderful linen. The breakfast is absolutely delicious and very special with beautiful views into the Garden and pool! All recommendations we got from Sam and Janice were absolutely fabulous and worth to visit! We really enjoyed our time at this safe environment very much and found it very comfortable being so close to Rosebanks Mall with it’s Gautrain and the City Sightseeingtourbusses as well lots of Restaurants. We will definitely come back to Houghton Place and can highly recommend this B&B.
We stayed here one night on arriving in South Africa and we had a very pleasant time. The rooms are large and well equipped with safe, air con, mosquito burner, kettle and coffee machine. The bed is large and comfortable and the pillows were very good. The bathroom is large with a tub and a separate shower and everything was in good condition and worked well. Outside there are two pools (one is just a plunge pool) with sun beds and towels and we spent the afternoon there after a light lunch. There are two restaurants - one for guests only where we ate lunch (that was closed for dinner) and a more upscale room where we dined. Both were excellent, with fresh, well cooked and well presented dishes. The staff are all friendly and efficient - all in all an excellent place and highly recommended.
Very good hotel, convenient transportation, breakfast is very rich, lobby staff are very warm and patient, just can't figure out why the hall is set on the second floor
love it here. i have stayed here multiple times. i cant think of anything wrong for the money i paid. lts sort f of a one bedroom apartment. some apartments have insuite bathroom, some have separate bathrooms. but the living room and kitchen are separate, which is a nice touch
The place was cool, calm, clean The unwinded tranquility was out of this world The place worth staying with the value of money paid, DSTV& Netflix I felt like home Staffs were very helpful I would return again And I highly recommend this spot
Stayed for two nights. Because of wife’s disability given a garden bungalow. Hotel itself does not have a lift. Bungalow was good but does need some serious attention to modernise it and do basic maintenance. Suited us for the two nights but you would be hard pressed to stay in it for any length of time. Hotel grounds are very good and lots of places where you can sit and commune with nature, read a book or just socialise. Security is very good and there is a controlled entry to the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was a problem for them. The hotel is full of memorabilia and you need to browse through the various items. For those of us who are slightly more mature it will bring back many memories. Breakfast was standard hotel fare but good and adequate. We ate dinner one night and enjoyed it. We would stay here again.
We spent 4 days at the Lucky Bean when we needed to wait for a safari we were going to start in a few days. Upon our arrival we were met by one of the women who is a caretaker for the guest house. A few minutes later the owner Conway came in and we were shown to our room. Upon our request we were moved to a room with a/c and we soon found out that we did not need it. That night we walked down to 7th street and ate dinner, and we ubered back about $2 US. The next morning we contacted Conway and asked to move to a different room which was bigger but did not have a/c, Conway said we absolutely could and we spent the rest of our time there. Upon our return to Lucky Bean that afternoon our belongings had been moved to a beautiful and Big room. TV had some movie channels and sports, also CNN. We had a nice patio to spend some time outside and there was a pool but we did not use it. We got information about how to get downtown and both Conway and his wife helped us. He suggested if we wanted to visit Soweto a woman who had lived there. We took a day long trip with her it was fantastic. Other days we ubered to downtown the cost and the uber was about 4.50 US each way. Breakfast each day was made to order, great coffee, and there were also fruit and cereals if you wish. Water from the tap in all of Johannesburg is drinkable and we did drink it each day. Conway has a fridge stocked with wines and beers as well as juices and bottled water for your use at a minimal charge which is all on the honor system. The Lucky bean is in an area which is what we consider very safe during the day, we walked around and down to the 7th street area to eat when we wanted when it was light out. Very good restaurants there. After dark as Conway said just Uber back, very simple. We would highly recommend the Lucky Bean Guest House for anyone who is interested in a great place to see Johannesburg and relax. Conway and staff are very nice, accommodating and the place is so comfortable. Thank you Conway and staff for a great and restful stay.
A hidden gem in the concrete jungle!! We booked a room for our wedding anniversary and were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to a penthouse suite! All I could say was WOW! Staff service was exceptional and attentive. Restaurant setting is beautiful and food is very delicious. Great breakfast! We also indulged in a couples massage, absolute bliss!! Venue is beautifully decorated, soft natural textures that makes you feel totally relaxed. Overall experience was superb, with 5 star service. Will highly recommend for a breakaway
Citruslane is a guesthouse with a difference and unquestionably the best in the area. The rooms are spotlessly clean and with safe parking. The staff is always friendly and will go the extra mile. Very well organised and the food is lovely. It is homely and relaxed and a treat to enjoy your beer under the lapa or splash into the pool after a hard day's work. Everything is comfortable, well kept, and close to all aminities and shops. I can recommend Citruslane to anyone.
A lovely Boutique House which is beautifully decorated with a warm homely feel. The New room was spacious and very comfortable with lovely decor and furnishings. Beautiful gardens, pool & bar area and a lovely private grand dining & breakfast area. Great service and cuisine. Thank you to Andrew for ensuring we had a lovely stay and I would highly recommend this special Boutique House.
