Great Hotel, staff were very welcoming and friendly. However, the day before we were due to arrive, they called to say there was a problem with the luxury room we had booked and asked if we would move to another, we agreed. Upon arriving the next day, I asked if we could at least see the room, as the pictures made it look amazing and I wanted to show my wife what we were missing. I was a little surprised then to be told we couldn’t see it as it was booked out and occupied. A case of double booking, very disappointing. The room we had was also very nice and met our requirements, but as mentioned in other reviews, the decor is starting to look a little tired and could really use a refresh, at least a lick of paint, especially where it’s obvious changes or repairs have been carried out. The room was otherwise well appointed, with the usual facilities and a jacuzzi, which we made full use of. Sadly the enjoyment of this was broken by three separate power outages, I had to call down to reception on each occasion to have the power restored. The next morning we called down for breakfast, full English, to be brought up to the room, (included in the price), which arrived very quickly and was amazing, especially as we had been out all night at a party and was just what we needed. All in all, a great Hotel, but in need of a refresh, possibly better organisation for bookings, and because of that, I think the “luxury” rooms are a little overpriced. Would I recommend a stay there? Yes, but perhaps only after a bit of redecorating / maintenance has taken place. Will we stay again? Unlikely, and yes we will be visiting Portsmouth again quite soon. Almost forgot, off street parking is limited to four cars, so get there early if your driving.

More than a thousand sea view rooms are not very good. The top floor is about the same size as the attic. The window size is less than one square meter. It is noisy to open the window and sleep on the street. For the first time, breakfast needs to add money. The stored baggage has no baggage tag and is placed in the corner of the lobby.

Just came from Portsmouth after staying in this lovely hotel with my family for one night. This is an amazingly clean and quiet hotel. The rooms are spacious, modern, spotless and the bathroom is so new! The location is ideal as it is facing a park, very close to the seafront and also to shops and restaurants. The staff are so so nice and polite and they even upgraded us free of charge to 2 adjoining rooms rather then one family room. I will stay there again every time I am back to Portsmouth.

Shame that the welcome was so unfortunately poor because this budget hotel is particularly good apart from the pathetic and incompetent customer service that is presently being offered; everything provided by the employees was an effort and completed with a standoffish and unfriendly attitude. The location is exceptionally good for Fratton Park FC, there is a Tesco Extra, McDonald's, and KFC adjacent. Fratton railway station is a good twenty minutes’ walk away yet the bus to Southsea and Portsmouth town centers departs from the main road adjacent to the hotel. The budget room is okay, a little austere but practical, the one seat provided is terrible and the mattress very thin (okay if you like sleeping on a hard shelf), the TV was good if small and the integrated bathroom provided good shower, the Wi-Fi was good. No beverage-making facilities in the room and not available in the reception area either. Do not expect any customer service or even a smile from the staff, just rudeness and ineptitude.

Just held our weddingvreception at the Queens, after several cancellations due to covid. We were so excited to celebrate with our friends and family after so many disappointments, and the Queens is a great venue. We had a mixed experience... Things we liked: The reception room was beautiful, and had a separate private bar and terrace which was great. The staff working with us were all amazing, friendly, and professional, we couldn't say enough good things about them. Everything was of a high standard, and made a beautiful setting. The room was very accessibly for guests with mobility issues. The photobooth from CJR photography was excellent, highlight of the night was how much fun that was, and he deserves a prize for being patient! I don't even think we bought him a drink, poor bloke. Things we didn't like: Due to the many unavoidable date changes, we ended up having a significantly reduced number of guests. We had no problem with this, after the last two years it was to be expected that availability would change, we didn't see a problem as we'd paid for 100, fewer people shouldn't have been an issue for the venue. We let them know at our consultation and it was suggested we move rooms to a smaller space, which we viewed, but there was no disability access. We said no thank you, we'd like the original room because our disabled guests couldn't manage all the stairs, and it was suggested we carry them in evacuation chairs because otherwise wed be "rattling around" in the bigger room. We OBVIOUSLY said no way. Also due to the reduced numbers, the room was laid out very sparingly, six tables with six chairs each, and further searing at the bar. We enquired about getting more chairs so everyone could sit, and were told no because with so few, we wanted everyone standing up. So all the chairs were taken from the bride & groom table for guests, and we didn't get to sit down all night. I understand maybe for our younger guests, fine, but more than half our attendees were older family memebers who need chairs! Perhaps I should have been more pushy and demanding, but I wasn't sure if I was allowed more chairs etc... And las complaint, the DJ provided by the hotel was rude, he asked one of our guests if it was "her carers day off", and when asked about music he announced that if we didn't like the music, he wasn't given a playlist. I am not a DJ, why am I having to make the playlist? Everyone likes different stuff, it's literally your job to be good at judging what to play. Overall would recommend the venue, it is beautiful. Make sure you're very clear, and willing to be forthright about ehat you want. If you are too polite you'll get nowhere.
