My husband and I got away for a quick spa weekend (before the Coronavirus was in full effect). The hotel is very sleek and modern, the rooms were nicely decorated and the boardwalk/beach view was perfect. the only problem we encountered was the television. It kept on losing its Volume and the movie channel kept on glitching. It’s proximity to the boardwalk and shops is very convenient. The staff we encountered were very nice and friendly, including the valet drivers. We liked that you needed a room key to get to your floor. The spa was wonderful!!!! We had a duet massage, not as romantic as other spas we have been to but that’s ok. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. The spa was nice and clean, smelt great and was quiet. The massage therapists were very good. They knew exactly what pressure to use and how to adjust when needed. My only suggestion would be when flipping over to your front, to get an eye therapy mask so your not ruining your experience by opening your eyes and seeing the room. The changing rooms were very small, they need better lighting but clean. Overall a great weekend getaway... with small improvements, I think this hotel would be a go to every year.

We've stayed here for months at a time for 10 years. It's always been a great place to stay for this area - very convenient to stores, restaurants, parks - and staying in a suite is like having an apartment - large with 3 separate rooms (living room/kitchen with closet, bathroom, bedroom with closet) and 2 large windows that let in a lot of light. They have just finished a TOTAL renovation and it's even better now! Everything is brand new & up to date. Plus they've got really good managers/front desk crew in place now with Brittney, Isadora, Jack & Terene - all helpful and friendly. We can tell that they're turning this place into an even better HOME away from home - thanks all!! We look forward to our return trip next year...

Yes this motel is extremely dated, rough around the edges and everywhere else and generally very grotty. But it’s clean, the beds and pillows are decent, ditto the WiFi and the parking is free (for a $10 per night, refundable deposit). Few people would go to Asbury to spend much time in their hotel room, so if you want a place to sleep that offers basic creature comforts at a rock bottom price, in a superb location 2 minutes to the beach, then this is a terrific choice. Or you can go to the adjacent Berkeley Hotel, which is admittedly nicer, but where you’ll pay three times the price, an exorbitant and greedy $45 per day to park, plus $25 per day for WiFi.

The exceptional Bungalow experiences started with booking an offsite retreat for my business partners. The Bungalow staff (thank you Tiffaney Warman!) bent over backwards and used awesome creativity to find the optimal solution for our group at the right price. The Kahuna suite worked perfectly and provided ample space for our group to be comfortable mid-covid. All staff members exhibited strict adherence to CDC guidelines. We were able to expand our positive experience with an open-air / indoor beachfront meeting accommodation (through the Wave Resort affiliation) and Long Branch delivered a stunningly beautiful day that delighted our guests. The exquisite design sense of the Bungalow continued to 'wow' our team. But the kindness and service-first approach of every staff member we encountered was what we were most impressed with. Our group cannot wait to come back for round 2 of our corporate retreat. We're excited to experience the staff's positive demeanor and the inspiring design sense of the entire property again soon - it was obvious everyone was smiling behind their masks. Thank you Bungalow! We will see you again soon.

Stayed at hotel for two nights due to family funeral in town. I’m a Wyndham Rewards member and despite paying for room in full ahead of time I was also told a $100 deposit would be on hold in case of damage. I requested a 2nd floor room but was told the hotel was full and unless I wanted to pay $20 more per day, that a first floor room was all they had. That was a first, but not a big deal. The included breakfast bar was unremarkable. Coffee was lukewarm at best, they offered about 10 mini muffins across some wax paper, 6 slices of white and wheat bread. The waffle maker was plugged in but did not get hot. Lastly, there were eggs, sausage and 4 hard boiled eggs that collectively were lukewarm but barely enough for 3-4 people. The hotel was full remember ? The first floor hallway carpet was old and did not smell fresh. My room was clean and fresh. The heat & A/C unit only worked on low setting. My complaint about the room is that they only provide one bar of soap. I asked for another bar at which point another customer at the front desk said he only had one as well. Weird way to save a buck ? The staff was polite and seemed friendly.

Front desk service was disappointing. Charged me extra 28.66 hotel fee and was not told about it. I will not be using this trip.com again. You should make it clear to everyone about extra fees!!

I have to join the 15% who rated this place poor or terrible on this site. I also posted this on Yelp. Asbury Park may be in the middle of some type of renaissance, but this hotel looks and feels like a place holder in the event that this town either comes into this century or reverts to its unfortunate history. It is a hollow industrial space that has the vibe that it could be abandoned at a moment’s notice without a significant loss to its investors. The designer is supposedly an Ian Schrager alum who seems to have learned nothing from that affiliation. I say this because the hotel, in general, and the lobby and rooms in particular are minimally and tastelessly appointed, bare-floored echo chambers with no attempt at noise mitigation, decor or comfort. The room furniture is cheesy crap that looks and feels like it was birthed from a malfunctioning 3-D printer. The chairs were basically hammock-like things made of rope and laminated wood that you had to ‘fall into’ or ‘climb out of’, rather than just sit upon. The furniture near the lobby bar looks like surplus from a kindergarten playroom. We sat at the bar on a Saturday night watching a line of 14 people (I’m not kidding) wait for drinks while a lone bartender, with NO help, frantically and clearly unhappily tried to execute cocktails with 4+ ingredients from an extensive drink menu. No servers and no bar back in sight. There were musical acts that played in the 2-story lobby space in the evening, which itself was an acoustic disaster that easily rattled our bedroom on the fifth floor just before midnight. The space was clearly not designed for this purpose. We called the front desk. Not surprisingly, the person at the other end had trouble hearing us because of the volume. We were told there were no other rooms. The staff were pleasant and apologetic. We were comped for that night and moved to the seventh floor the next day. Unfortunately, we encountered the same poor experience in a larger space. On top of that, there was an incessant loud drone of mechanicals (fan or motor) from the rooftop of an adjacent building. We also had the same tacky, ridiculously uncomfortable ‘furniture’, bare floors, etc. in the room. The hotel has its share of 4-5 star ratings, but I’m not sure what these people are using for comparative experiences. For me, never again. Caveat emptor.

Had the privilege of staying at this amazing hotel this weekend. I don’t know where to start. Being greeted with a warm towel and cold water by friendly hosts was a great start and being escorted to my room with a hotel tour was helpful. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous with a sophisticated but hip vibe. My favorite room was the drawing room where they have live music every night. Stand up base and piano one night and cello and piano the next. Shelly my server/ bartender was the warmest most genuine person I have met. This young lady could not have been more attentive, remembering my name and cocktail, attending to my every wish and even genuinely being interested in my stories about Asbury and scotch lessons lol. Make sure you visit Shelly she will make your whole trip worth it. Ryan her manager was another stand out host, even recommending a scotch I never had and bringing me some complimentary to try and converse with me. He was constantly checking with all guests that their needs were being met. Complimentary Continental breakfast was filled with pastries both sweet and savory, home made yogurts with all kind of toppings and fruit in a beautiful room that overlooks the gorgeous pool area or you can order off the menu , which is available 24 hours. My room was spotless and beautiful with a semiprivate outdoor patio that overlooks the “dunes”. And a very cool shower.Location of hotel is perfect right across from beach ,boardwalk and convention center. I could just go on and on . I enjoyed my stay so much. I will be back...even though it’s a bit pricey.....it’s worth the indulgence. My only advise to the hotel is the entrance is so unobtrusive it’s a bit hard to find but thank you for a great weekendShow less Get Outlook for iOS

i'm writing this review for management hasn't responded to my email dated 8/25/19 regarding the issues w/my room. my so & i stayed in a corner balcony ocean front room over looking the stone pony. this is considered a deluxe room w/a price tag to match. also my so & i have stayed at the empress for the past 15 years and never had the issues i'm going to describe. upon check-in on 8/24 we noticed the following; left over toiletries in bathroom, broken light switch, stained lamp shade, running toilet, no screen on balcony, peeling paint & wallpaper, broken toilet paper holder, broken/dripping shower head,no screen on balcony & balcony door needed w-d 40 to open/close. we reported the screen & toilet running which were promptly fixed the next morning at 1130 am. prior to retiring to bed after enjoying the squeeze concert at the pony, we had to kill 6 bugs in our room. mind you we never left the balcony door open, thus that wasn't the cause of the problem. we just assumed that once we had a screen there would be no bugs in our room. on 8/23 the screen was placed, the balcony door w-d 40'd, the toilet repaired and the bug issue reported to management at 1130 am. at that time no other issues were reported. we requested housekeeping service at that time as well, although they didn't service our room till 545 pm. in fact i personally disposed of our trash, made the bed, and got new towels. housekeeping only had to clean the bathroom. we spent the day enjoying both asbury & ocean grove. after dinner when we returned to the room to enjoy another concert at the stone pony...things went horribly wrong!!!!!!! there were now 7 more bugs to kill and we were nervous, almost scared to go to sleep!!!!! on my way to the ice machine i asked 2 other guests on our floor if they were experiencing the same issues. my so & i then proceeded to the front desk w/ a list of our issues. we spoke to a female who scolded us for mentioning the bug issue to another guest. she said we scared them. my response was well i'm scared of my room as well. she then proceeded to get the night manager whom told us in an unprofessional fashion to just leave right now & they'll comp us for the 1 night. my so was in no condition to drive at 1010pm due to the wine w/dinner & i don't drive on the highway. my so rejected that plan & informed them we'd check out the next day. needless to say i spent most of the night reading for i needed to insure no bugs were crawling on me in the bed. on 8/25/19 when i emailed the owner for a resolution of this situation in the form of some type of compensation for our inconveniences and remediation of our room, no response was given in a timely fashion. my advice to others is to thoroughly inspect your room prior to settling in. both my so & i have no desire to stay in an establishment that isn't courteous to guests & won't keep rooms maintained properly.

The room was nice, AC worked good, WiFi was good. The room had a fridge which was great.. The outside of the hotel including stairs was very dirty. Cigarette butts everywhere. Idiots throwing lit cigarettes from 2nd floor right where people come out of the stairs.
