*ONE star for the Restaurant/Hotel General Manager, Jenny. I would like to preface this story by saying that we had our wedding at the Inn in August 2021. I LOVE the event staff and highly recommend working with them. Until Jenny gets help, I DO NOT recommend the Restaurant. For more details on how Jenny lied to me and blamed me, please read below. The morning after our wedding, I had scheduled Brunch for 20, they put us in a Lounge room that could fit 24 people. More people wanted to come to brunch than originally planned. I asked Jenny if we could get another 10 people to eat, Jenny said there was no room. I asked Jenny if we could at least add 4 more seats to our room that is meant to fit 24, I was told no. One lie Jenny told me was that the Patio was fully booked, and we could not sit out there. My friend found out that Jenny lied to me; the restaurant didn’t schedule enough staff of that day to have customers on the patio. When trying to figure out if the restaurant could fit more of us in, a couple walked through the door. Jenny asked them if they had reservations, and they did not. So, she told them there was no room and she recommends that’s that they make reservations next time. Jenny then turned to me and said, “Do you see what you are making me do, I have to turn people away now.” I was done with Jenny. My new husband and I sat outside of the room we rented for brunch, while our friends and family ate. That day 25 people came to Bruch, so 5 of us sat outside from the room people were eating and chatted. Jenny and 2 other servers kept walking by. I couldn’t help but notice that there were many tables not being used in the restaurant. Then the sweetest Server came up to us to congratulate us on our wedding (which Jenny never did) and this server brought us a glass of Champagne. She then asked if we would like to eat, and I told her that Jenny said we cannot eat. She said that was just wrong and brought us menus. The 5 of us ate brunch and chatted in a near empty restaurant until that afternoon.

We stayed there for 8 days. Overall, it was fine but one of the overnight managers was rude, inp, and passive aggressive. The Good: Decent rooms but small than I expected. I’ve been in Residence Inns in New York City with rooms that are the same size as those in Minneapolis. Parking lot is convenient and reasonably priced. Also, our room had 2 Queen beds and a full kitchen. The Bad: WThe night we checked in, we noticed that the oven was on - no idea how long that was on. Also, the stove-oven looked like it was out of the 70’s. I refused to touch. The Ugly: Daily housekeeping. The front desk staff is not on the same page and was not transparent. Instead of the details, the takeaway is the front desk established the wrong expectations - daily housekeeping. I complained repeatedly when those expectations were not met. Each time I complained, I got an apology but no one corrected the expectations by saying we don’t have the staff for daily housekeeping. If I heard that, I would have had very different expectations. In the last month, I’ve been in two other hotels that were crystal clear with housekeeping expectations- it’s not that hard. In any event, this lead to the overnight manager loudly complaining to a staff membe about “some guy constantly complaining about housekeeping. Someone should tell him we don’t have the staff.” It was rude, unprofessional, and he should have had the courage and consideration to address me directly. I don’t recommend staying here.

This is a difficult review to write. I understand that in a pandemic, hotels are getting crushed financially and must make adjustments to survive. But they should disclose upfront what they are doing. In this case, the Renaissance is adjacent to the Marriott Residence Inn. They are actually two sides of the same building. They have closed all public areas of the Renaissance, and you now check in and enter through the front desk of the Residence Inn, connected by a long hallway to the Renaissance. The Renaissance Depot advertises itself as being in the Milwaukee Road Depot but in fact all of those historic areas of the hotel shown on the website (such as the Great Hall) are closed, and that train station was the main reason I chose this hotel. The breakfast is a bag with an orange, a small yogurt, and an Otis Spunkmeyer wrapped muffin. None of this is disclosed on the website. Meanwhile, they are charging a higher price then the Residence Inn but with none of the amenities. The two main Renaissance elevators are closed. One small side elevator is still in use. The sign says use of the elevator is limited to one person. Luckily hotel occupancy was low, so that wasn't a big issue. The rooms were fine except there are no drawers or shelves -- just a luggage rack. There was no bath tub -- just a full-sized shower. The front desk staff were exceedingly nice. The hotel is very close to central downtown. Very convenient to the historic mills and the stone bridge.

My son and I stayed here for 6 nights 7/2-7/8 for a national fencing tournament at the convention center. Agatha at the front desk was stellar. She was welcoming and could not have been more helpful. Also, Adam in the Living Room bar (lobby bar) was very good too. He knew my drink, remembered my name and was good with conversation. All the staff we met were really friendly and helpful. W does a great job with interior design and this hotel is the perfect mix of original Art Deco design and modern interior. Common areas are sleek, and lighting is interesting. I did not like the lack of good lighting in the elevator, as I always had to use my phone to light up the floor numbers. We stayed on the 16th floor in a 2-queen room. The room was very clean, small, and there is minimal storage, Beds and linens are comfortable. If you are staying for more than a couple days and want to unpack, there is only a small, 2 drawer unit that does not hold much. The bathroom is large and well appointed, and the bath products smell amazing. My issue is the rain shower mounted overhead, rather than a wall mounted shower head. As a woman who does not wash her hair every day, I struggled to keep my hair dry and had to do the in and out dance as the water fell from above. My son did not like it either. This type of shower is not as satisfying as a wall mounted shower head that blasts you. I also wish that the room had a regular coffee maker rather than an espresso machine. with tiny cups. There is free coffee in the lobby, but who wants to go down 16 floors for a cup of coffee, and have to return to your room? There is a diner called Keys, attached to the hotel that is really good for breakfast and lunch. The observation deck at the top of the building is great too. I had drinks with friends in the lobby bar, the Living Room, and we all enjoyed the cool, comfortable space and good service. Interestingly enough, we got to watch a pimp with 2 ladies of the evening do business with a man sitting at the bar. This very intoxicated, elderly man left arm in arm with 2 young, scantily clad 'ladies'. No one who worked there seemed at all concerned, or for that matter surprised. Overall, I liked this hotel, I liked the staff, but the room fell a little short for me on size, functionality and that silly rain shower.

Stayed here for eight nights in July while my niece competed in USA Fencing Nationals. Staff, especially Thomas, Melonie, and Jason were very friendly and handled all of our requests with a smile. Thomas was even able to put our three rooms under three separate reservations on the same floor and within a few feet of each other despite our specific room layout requests which weren't made until check in. The staff really went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. The hotel has just completed a complete overhaul and the rooms and common areas were clean, modern, and comfortable. There were two negative points though. We had a shower only room and the weatherstripping on the shower door seemed to have been damaged at some point, resulting in a very wet bathroom floor after each shower. Engineering showed up immediately after we notified the front desk and attempted to find and fix the leak; however, did not succeed. Our work-around was make a temporary seal using extra towels. Second negative was for the loud music deep into the weekend nights coming from a club a block away. Overall, the property was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located with very friendly staff who went above and beyond to make our stay a very positive experience.

The room and the hotel interior generally had modern décor and everything was in good condition and clean. In my room there was a surprisingly large mini-fridge, a large TV, and a very small microwave. The internet connection was fast. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was okay. There was a bit of traffic noise, but that’s to be expected given the location. Walking around in the daytime, the neighborhood seemed very safe. Overall, a good place to stay in downtown Minneapolis. Hotel parking is not well marked (it’s immediately west of the building on 11th St.) and it’s $20/night in addition to the room rate.

My daughter got married in Minneapolis on 5/28/22 and we used Hotel,Ivy as the host hotel. We had some guests back out from reservations at the last moment and fell short of our block requirement. They kindly forgave the shortfall, anyway. The hotel is beautiful and elegant. We had booked a suite the level below the penthouse for the bridal party to get ready and the next lower tier suite for the groomsmen. The bridal suite, through no fault of the hotel, smelled of a particular flavor of smoke, and after an attempt to clean it, still wasn’t immediately acceptable. One of the managers, Ziena, worked hard to try to make it right. Ultimately, she gave my daughter the penthouse. Additionally, my hard of hearing elderly father locked my son out of the room they were sharing with the deadbolt, thereby preventing staff from being able to open it. He could not hear banging on the door. Again, the Hotel Ivy staff came through, supplying my son with a room for the night without charge. It was so refreshing to see a business look out for guests. That is the way one gets loyal customers and count us as such! Thank you, Hotel Ivy and Ziena! Monellos was fabulous for dinner, as well. Scott Westenberg

Very spacious and modern rooms, very cool design of public areas and rooms! Unfortunately, we had some difficulties communication with the hotel twice. First, we wanted to learn more about parking and hotel put us on 10 minutes hold and after that they did not pick up the call for more than an hour! Maybe they are busy, but still leaves an impression. Secondly, we called at the reception to ask about the places open for a beer or wine and they simply hang up on us twice. Moreover, there was something with the lock- we could not leave the room without asking for help outside. I’m glad we were not in the rush in the morning. Not sure why is that so haha! Staff was great. Some reviews have mentioned the ”sketchy” neighborhood, but it really isn't. Those strip clubs nearby have been there a lot longer than the AC Hotel or the Four Seasons next door. There are also many fine dining establishments nearby, including the famous Murray's steakhouse, 112 Eatery, and many more. Check out Bunker's Music Club too, one of the best smaller live music venues in the country. Back to the AC. Our bed was great, room surprisingly quiet (back side) and well appointed. Bathroom needed some minor repair work that housekeeping should have reported, but it wasn't worth call engineering up on a two night stay. These hotels have nice appointments and design, but aren't really full service like a Marriott. I would rate it five stars except for a couple things. $35 parking fee was disclosed, but I was very surprised to find that was a self-parking rate, not valet. It's not a terribly long way, but not all that convenient either. The other thing was being told when we checked in that because we were just staying two nights we would not receive housekeeping. It is standard these days to give guests a choice on short stays, and we often would forgo it, but it's not normal to just bluntly inform them they won't receive housekeeping for a $200 a night room. We didn't care much for that, and ended up having to call for fresh coffee supplies and towels and such anyway. I'd stay there again, the staff was very good and friendly, but they could sharpen up a bit.

We had an excellent stay at the Hampton Inn when we visited for a concert. The skyway connection to the State Theater (and the entire skyway system) was very convenient. I was worried about the parking situation, but it turned out to be ok with a skyway connection between the public parking garage and the hotel. Be aware that the parking rates can add up if you use that garage and are leaving and returning a number of times in the same day, but for overnight parking it worked out well. The room was comfortable, the staff was very good, and we had no issues here.

I didn’t want to park in the garage across the street, so the girl at the front desk (I wish I could remember her name as she was great) made room for me in the onsite parking even though it was full (definitely reserve an onsite parking spot if you will be going here with a car). She also sent an extra chair to our room since there were two of us working, sent up extra towels, and sent towels to the pool for us. Along with the rest of the staff, she made sure to accommodate our every need, and was just really nice. The room was also very nice and spacious. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel staff was incredible! I booked 14 rooms for my team and they made us feel really special. Little things like the welcome sign and bars made us truly feel welcome. I cannot recommend this place enough! I would definitely stay here again.

I’m so happy to be here at the Millennium Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota downtown. It’s a great place to take a vacation or just a time-out and get away from all the stress and anxiety life brings to you. The best is the location of the hotel it’s rite on Nicollet mall downtown and is located rite in the heart of the dining seen and shopping district wonderful place to stay.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to people and I would stay here again. It looked like it was newly renovated. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the staff were very chatty and gave us good service. Especially the two guys who worked the evening weekend shifts at the front desk. The location is perfect , parking is in a garage across the street and many bars and restaurants are within waking distance. Very good value for money!

I was in MInneapolis for a conference across the street from the hotel at the Convention Center. The proximity to the the Convention Center was the hotel’s only saving grace. The hotel was unprepared to be a convention hotel. There was one frazzled young lady staffing the front desk, answering the phones, and checking people in all at the same. This caused her to be short and downright rude to many of the guests checking in. My travel companion and I were at the hotel for 4 days and not once was the room cleaned. We had to go down to the front desk and request new towels and toilet paper because we were running out. The toilet paper hadn’t been replenished from the previous visit - which made me question if the room had even been cleaned before our arrival. On day 2 I asked that our room be cleaned and the front desk person submitted the request, but it never happened. I understand staff shortages etc, but as a convention hotel there has to be a contingency plan in place to manage the influx of guests, especially for what they were charging for a room per night. Also, no slight on the city of Minneapolis, but after 6pm everything shuts down…even the Target…and it turns into a ghost town full of homeless people. We were told multiple times by Uber drivers not to walk downtown after dark. So we actually Ubered the 4-6 blocks between hotels if we were out after dark. I would not stay at this hotel again.
