Outside, the hotel is just another old town building. As it is situated by the railway station, we really did not expect a good night's sleep. But it was quite pleasant in the end. The lobby is not very big and the elevator is a miniature one. The room was not very spacious, but well furnished and we did not really miss anything. The balcony was questionable, small, somewhat uncertain-looking, beat up, but there were flowers in the pot adorning it. And it enabled a wonderful view of the old tower, one of the characteristic sights of Metz, standing very close to the hotel. The bathroom was very comfortable. Traffic was quite heavy under our balcony and window. Although the windows were shaped in an old-fashioned way, really beautiful, they must have been glazed recently, because they kept out all the noise of the traffic. The room was air-conditioned (and the air-conditioning really worked!). We only had breakfast at the hotel and it was really good, with plenty of choice. As this is not really true of all French hotels, I was quite pleased with this one.

We stayed at Hotel La Citadelle for two nights of a 10-day driving tour from the UK around Europe. The staff were friendly, particularly the doorman who took pride in looking after our cars. For a mid-priced hotel, we were quite impressed with the size of our room and facilities. We had a fridge, safe, good wardrobe space, plenty of power points, the bed was large and comfortable and the air-conditioning worked well. The décor is a little dated, it felt a bit ‘1990s’ to me, but all was clean enough. The bathroom was a little frustrating, with a separate toilet and shower design that meant it was virtually impossible to shower without half the room getting wet. We did not try the hotel restaurant (but we did try ‘Caves St Clement’ nearby which was fantastic, probably the best meal of our trip) but the buffet breakfast was very good, with a decent selection and pleasant eating area. The hotel is in a good central location and overall although not the favourite of our trip, it was probably the best value for money and we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and in the picturesque town of Metz.

Stayed one night on the way home as part of a national holidays trip to Italy. The good, the staff were lovely, the lady at reception spoke good English and was really willing to help. She even offered to order take away pizza for me and have it brought to my room. Breakfast was plentiful and included fruit, cheese, meat, yogurt and French pastries. The room was large, with a balcony which overlooked the back of the buildings. Location is great, lots to eat and plenty of walks. The not so good, no air conditioning, my room was 24degress all night and no breeze to cool us down. Whilst the room looked clean I found a dirty and very dusty old head torch under my bed! No shower curtain in bathroom! Other than that, this hotel is ok and staff are good.

As others have said, this is modern but basic, no effort at all to make it look attractive or welcoming. I think in winter it's a student residence that is then rented to tourists when the students are away. We chose it because of its central location and indoor parking. We had studio 705 (see photo) which is a corner room on the top (7th) floor with windows on 2 sides, balcony and a decent view including the cathedral. I haven't seen the other rooms but this was probably a good one because of its view and balcony. Bathroom was quite big relative to the size of the room. The room was generally clean but there was dust on the skirting boards and crumbs in the fridge. I also didn't particularly like the various smells in the building. If I was again in the area I would look at other places first. Having said that, it's good value so I wouldn't necessarily rule it out.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the motorway - we were returning from Switzerland. I booked it months ago, and they took the card payment almost at once. Had we had to cancel I dread to imagine the hassle there would have been to get our money back, the French being as tight-fisted as they are. I made sure I had the credit-card statement with me to prove I had paid! In the event, no problem at all. First glance at the place had me thinking of the Bates Motel in 'Psycho'. The room was a tiny but clean box and had a 'wet room' bathroom. We used to stay at 'Logis de France,' small independent hotels, but they seem often to have become rather seedy and overpriced. Now we opt for these faceless chains of hotels which are at least clean and cheap. We considered having a meal there The restaurant looked decent, but the menu featured a picture of Chef Renard, a rather creepy looking cove: Norman Bates again? We decided to have a drink while making our minds up and repaired to the garden. Two white wines, please, waitress. Sorry, you can't have alcohol except with a meal. WHAT?? This is France in 2018 on a Saturday night, not Carmarthen on a wet Sunday circa 1954! No dice: no meal.We put a picnic together from bits and pieces we had in the car. Wine included! Breakfast was OK. Time was, the 'Continental' breakfast was coffee, rolls, butter and jam. Now there's lots more, cheese, meat, yogurts, fruit. And instead of 8 francs it costs €9.50. Mainly aimed at the Dutch and the Germans, no doubt. I was a bit worried about security. A footpath runs just beyond the hotel boundary's flimsy hedge. This path runs round a lake and is thronged with of joggers and dog-walkers. Burglar Guillaume would find it child's-play to be in and out of the grounds to do a bit of thieving either from room or car. I did find that a bit of a worry. I wouldn't praise or recommend the hotel particularly but neither would I warn against staying there. It is certainly quiet enough for a good night's sleep. And cheap.

The quilt was not good enough, and there were a lot of quilts on the head. After sleeping for a night, there were a lot of red rashes on it, and it took three or four days to go down. Because there was never an allergic experience before, it was extremely suspected that the bed or quilt was not clean.

Driving up from Italy this was just a place to rest my head and so I had no real expectations. However it certainly exceeded these. Firstly the car park has an extremely secure looking automatic gating, which is much more than you usually get. Reception is similar to a premier inn level back home again more than the usual budget options here. Lift to all floors. Room was clean, sheets were clean, no grotty carpets. Shower pod clean although drain was a bit stinky. The only downside was the thin walls so you can hear everyone’s toilet flushes and showers nearby. Located just across the street from a supermarket and easy access back onto the motorway with an easy 3.5hrs up to the tunnel for a morning crossing - can’t complain.

The hotel is located in the heart of Lyon, just a 5 minute walk from the central square and shopping streets. There are a variety of specialty shops in the shopping street, big-name luxury jewelry and ZARA, HM, etc., although not comparable to the Paris store, the goods are all, but the basic models are available to meet the basic shopping needs. The most acclaimed hotel is the breakfast, on the top floor of the hotel, with a view of the Rhone River through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The breakfast is extremely rich, because it is the holiday season, breakfast is delayed until 11 o'clock, you can rest assured that you can take a nap and slowly enjoy a fine brunch.

Italy was passing by the stop city back to Paris. It did n’t have much hope. The comments at night were good and bad, as long as they could live, but it was really good! Clean and spacious, booked a room with a living room, booking information is for three people, the sofa bed in the living room was opened and paved at the time of check-in, the balcony is also a large balcony connecting the living room to the bedroom, it is nice to have a kitchenette, walking near the hotel There is a slightly bigger Carrefour in 5 minutes. In the morning, my husband and the child did n’t get up to buy some juice, milk, bread, salad, etc. After all, it ’s not cheap to eat outside. It was learned that Lyon’s old town was very difficult to park, and it was specifically designed as a landmark hotel in the new city. This hotel can be seen from afar, but it is not easy to find the hotel entrance and parking lot by car. Because the nearby road is under construction, it took three laps to find the hotel's small entrance. The parking lot is large, 25 euros a day. The hotel lobby is on the 32nd floor and the room is above the 33rd floor. The view is good and has its own characteristics. The room is small, it is fan-shaped, and two adults with a child sleep very crowded. The sanitation is very good, quiet, carpeted, not ventilated, the shower floor is a bit slippery, there is no place to dry clothes. The hotel has a restaurant, dinner is good, service is good. There is no bustling old town nearby, and there is a large public car park next to the food city not far from the hotel.

We were looking for a good hotel which would serve as our stopover as we were driving to the South of France. We booked a night stay in this beautiful InterContinental Hotel. We arrived around noon and by accident drove directly to the hotel's garage. It was unclear if there was valet or if we could self park our car. As we did not get in to the garage, we were stuck there as the bell in the garage was rather complicated. We phoned the front desk and quickly someone helped park our car. The bellboy took our luggage and escorted us to the reception. We were quickly checked in and received a very nice upgrade to one of the beautiful Executive Duplex rooms with views over the river. The hotel itself is huge and is simply beautiful. There are many restaurants and shops in the premises and is located in the heart of Lyon, everything can be done by foot. Our room was very large and had a cosy seating area on the top level. Downstairs, there was a very comfortable bed and the bathroom with large walk in shower. The window in the room was floor to ceiling but probably hard to clean as there were some cobwebs on it. Staff were very helpful with a city map and recommending sights and restaurants nearby. Within walking distance, there are many good places to eat and shopping streets are very closeby.

The location of the hotel is really good. Downstairs is Sephora opposite Paris Spring, and then White Apple Square, but the hotel rooms are really too small, and then there is no bathtub. The hotel I booked was very expensive because at the time It ’s the Lyon Festival of Lights, so it ’s very expensive. It ’s usually not that expensive. If you judge this hotel by its value, it ’s not worth it. I think its value should be around 1,000 yuan. Simple is rude, because breakfast is not so good, but there are few juices that are not freshly squeezed for tea, and you have to make your own tea in bags. The hotel does not have any service at the front desk to check in, and it is not very fast, but it is generally okay. It is not worth 1,000 yuan or more for 1,000 yuan, thank you!

This is a five-star hotel in a classic style, converted from an old building. Definitely not the kind of hotel used in China. In the center of the old town of Lyon, there are various stores on the doorstep, and a stylish chocolate shop diagonally opposite, and the famous Rose Tower attractions across the alley next to the hotel. The interior decoration of the hotel is also old-fashioned, the door is opened with a key and no card is needed. The room was beautiful and welcoming, the toilet and shower room were separated. There is also a spa on the top floor. We went to live in Lyon on the day of the annual Lyon Festival of Lights, and on the weekend, the room price doubled several times than usual. It's easy to miss without paying attention. If the usual price to live is definitely possible. Holidays are definitely expensive. It is very convenient to visit and live in the old town.
