After reading all the reviews I noticed, the reviews were old. I arrived at the Metro and found that the surroundings were clean and modern. I was told by the staff they had recently had a major refurbishment. The hotel had been taken over by a new management. We had a double room and it was very good and all the facilities were good. We had a meal in their restaurant and I must say I was impressed. The food was on par with a lot of places I have been to in Dubai and I have been to a few bad ones too. This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of ‘Bondor Bazaar’ and when you step inside it doesn’t feel as though you are in Bondor. I recommend this place more than ‘Uposhohor’ and prices are fair and service is fantastic.

Having had several days in pretty rough hotels I decided to treat myself to a night at a “5 star” hotel. The price was indeed 5 star at $150 US per night for standard room. My logic was that with most hotels charging $20-50 per night, to charge $150, well, it must be good. HOW WRONG I WAS! The bathroom with literally filthy and I don’t mean it hadn’t been cleaned. I mean the sort of grained in stained dirt that can’t be cleaned. So dirty that I would not have used the shower (see photo of shower curtain and plug below) However i didn’t get that far as when I turned on the tap, the water was brown (see photo). I left it running for 10 minutes thinking it might just be in the pipes but it still ran brown - oh...and the hot water also ran out The beds (twin room) had no mattress at all. Just the divan base. Rock solid - no mattress I complained about the water and the bed and they sent a kind member of staff who told me that it had been like this for years, that so many customers complained but that the owners didn’t care. They brought me a mattress after which the bed was tolerable. Being January the room was very cold but when I turned on the heater it only blew out cold air (which had a damp stale smell). I complained and was told the trim didn’t have heat! Frustrated tired and hungry, I called room service (menu in the room with full range of foods) and was told that nothing on the menu was available except a sandwich, a burger or curry. I ordered the burger which wasn’t bad but I had to pay in cash and 20% more than the advertised price. The breakfast was average, perhaps acceptable for a 3 star hotel but when I took a small bottle of water with me, I was told by the staff that this wasn’t permitted. $150 US per night but you can’t take a 20c bottle of water with you. For me, that summed up the attitude of the management. Get as much as you can from the customer and give as little back as possible. This was almost certainly a great hotel at some point in the past. It’s interior design and layout are striking and the room sizes are good. But no money had been spent here for a long long time and the management do not care When I return I will stay in one of the cheaper hotels where I will get what I expect and pay for.

The hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the DARGAH......and also 15 mins or 25 taka ricksha fare away from the heart of sylhet Zinda Bazar. Good side of the hotel: 1) Good staff 2) Clean washrooms 3) Clean rooms 4) Lift works throughout 24 hours based on your need. 5) They allowed me to check in 3 hours early and check out 3 hours late (tried their best in this case) 6) Card works. 7) Good range of food is available at their restaurant. 8) I had a good stay. Demerits: 1) Price seemed a bit higher to me, can be a little more reasonable however it was not very high. 2) Breakfast is disaster. I would stay again given the opportunity to go there.
