|5.54km from city centerFirst let’s start with the positives: the room was spotless and very well lit. The fixtures in the bathroom were not coming out of the wall. The heating/AC worked well. Lots of towels. Lots of plugs. Now let’s get to the other stuff. If Hilton were given a contract to build an Army barracks, this would be about what they would come up with. The room was exceedingly small. When I called prior to making a reservation, I was told that the rooms had both fridges and microwaves. They were 50% correct. There was a mini (with emphasis on the “mini”) fridge but no microwave. For that you had to go down to the lobby. Doable but not very convenient. The front desk was very helpful at checkin which was important since, when I received my digital key, the app did not specify which room. In sum, I think the room was quite overpriced for what you received.

|6.87km from city centerRed roof Inn Florence sc I stayed 1/18/2023 in room 107 The room has animal urine smell so bad we had to keep door opened. I requested a refund for the awful night of that smell and was told no and come back and try them again. It a shame owners don’t back the service they offer. I encourage the owner to walk into 107 then apologize and ask me to come back. If a review matters to an owner they will investigate and adjust if necessary. The hotel I stayed in the next night cost 20.00 more dollars and worth every dime to not smell urine. Remove the carpet between beds and check mattress for the smell. Your cleaning people should be able to address the issue. If you except animals for business you then run off guest that don’t want to smell it. Like my family I immediately addressed the issue with the front desk and wrote to the owner before posting this review in the hopes he would make some attempt to make it right. He did send me an apology email and asked to come back and try again. Talk about doing nothing. Go investigate the complaint walk into room 107 and then send an apology email offering nothing. No one wants to try and sleep with that smell. Every time I woke up it was to urine smell. Would Mr. Owner would ask for refund if it was his money. Get back with us with your findings I truly believe if you can smell you will understand the refund request Thank you Mr. Owner

|7.18km from city centerEaster weekend is busy on 95. This spot wasn’t my first choice but we needed a break and we had our dog so dog friendly was a must. Location is ideal and we were able To park our Jeep and trailer near the room and the lot was lit up and appeared to have cameras. I did feel the location was safe. Room was typical for older hotels, mostly dated with some upgrades. Bathroom very dated but shower was hot. Room smelled like bleach. Fridge convenient to unpack our cooler for the night. AC worked decent and couldn’t hear other rooms which was good because many pets were accompanying the guests. In room coffee wasn’t drinkable and “hot breakfast” was me grabbing a yogurt and granola bar along with more bad coffee and then hitting up a McDonalds…. Overall, for 150 bucks total, it was what it was…..

Really nice breakfast choices. Safe and well lit parking lot. Friendly folks at the front desk. Only hiccup were inconsiderate guests next door who arrived to their room with their kids at 12:30am and thought that it was perfectly acceptable to have loud conversations out in the hallway. Not the hotel's fault. More a reflection that there are some seriously inconsiderate people in the world.

|5.09km from city centerAfter a long day of driving on our way from Maine to Florida, we stopped at the Country Inn in Florence, SC. We normally stay at Marriotts and all 6 of them were sold out. We got the last room at The Country Inn. After reading the reviews, we were a bit skeptical but we were tired and had no other options. We were very pleasantly surprised with our stay. Most important, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The lobby is very nice. The bathtub is dated, it’s one of the fiberglass one piece with the ceiling incorporated in it so you know it had to be original to the hotel. It was spotless. I was amazed. The coffee in the lobby was much better quality than most hotels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The outside grounds are immaculate. They were blowing the leaves and cleaning the already spotless outside when we checked out. Overall I would give them a solid A.

|6.75km from city centerWe are long time Marriott elite customers and have traveled extensively, but it's not often that we can say we felt like honored guests at a property. The Florence, SC Residence Inn was excellent! It was our overnight stop on our way north on I95 from Florida to Maryland, and what a nice experience, from check in to check out. The typical Residence Inn breakfast was made very special by staff member Sharon, who greeted EVERYONE and welcomed them as if they were family! She made sure that everyone had what they needed. When I asked if there was any green tea, she immediately went and got some food me. A family came in with young children and she spoke to all the kids, asked their names, how old they were, and if their breakfast favorites were there! When we checked out, I wanted to fill my water bottle so I asked where the ice machine was, and the front desk mgr handed me several water bottles that were already chilled. But more important than WHAT they did was the fact that it was done with a truely genuine smile on their faces! Marriott, many of your other properties could benefit from a few customer service lessons from the staff here! This will definitely be our go to hotel on our many trips back and forth from FL to MD to visit our children and grandchildren.

|7.43km from city centerThe hotel was a fairly good deal after booking at the last minute. The front desk staff (Deanna) and her associate were professional and pleasant. The room itself was OK at best. It offered a kitchenette area, but no stovetop. The coffee maker did not work and the hot water in the shower was only tepid. The coffee station in the lobby had free coffee and tea, but the hot water was also not warm! The room had a strange curtain above the bed which hid a huge bright light that you could still see when the lights were off in the room. This made for an uncomfortable sleep and I had to sleep on the sofa. All in all, a few upgrades would make this a 4 star hotel.

We thought breakfast included 2 but we were told both our names not on the reservation so we had to pay $14.99 for the 2nd buffet breakfast. We specifically asked at check in the day before and the desk clerk said he couldn’t tell us what we signed up for and the breakfast area would have the info the next morning. When we found out they expected payment for the 2nd breakfast my husband went to the desk clerk and she could do nothing. They had 2 chances to correct the problem- add my name and no one made the effort. Very disappointed in the staff at this hotel. Are all Hilton Gardens like this? We usually stay at Hampton Inns and there was one next door. We made a mistake going to this hotel. We didn’t really care about the $14 but surprised they kept the breakfast specific info from us and no one made an effort to correct. A small but significant lack of customer service by Hilton. Was getting that $14 so important to them? And it was only for the buffet we were not allowed to order omelets ! Lol - won’t stay here again!

|6.97km from city centerI decided to stay here after a long day of driving. From the very first interaction, I knew that the staff here goes the extra mile. I called before I arrived to ask about an upgrade. I spoke to Angela. She was wonderful in every way possible. The thing that made her stand out was the fact she went out of her way to make sure I got type of room that I wanted after she didn’t quite understand what I originally wanted. That is above and beyond customer service. The biggest issue during the stay was the key maker not working. It wasn’t the fault of the staff, but most of the guests were quite nasty to the two ladies working the desk. They kept their composure and did the best they could and handled the situation pretty well. The room itself was clean and comfortable. There are a ton of restaurants in the area and easy access to Interstate 20 and Interstate 95. I would definitely stay here again

|7.76km from city centerWe needed a pet friendly hotel for a stopover from our drive home to Florida from New York. This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Super clean and friendly staff. Good grounds for walking the doggies. The rooms were awesome, large comfy, a kitchenette, living room large king bed and super large bathroom with all modern amenities. Full frig, dishwasher, dishes and utensils and coffeemaker as well. The complimentary breakfast was the best continental breakfast one could possibly ask for included, coffee, juice, waffles, oatmeal, grits, bacon, sausage, eggs, cereals, juices, fresh fruits, muffins, bagels assorted breads. I would definately stay again when making the drive up the coast again. Conveniently located off of I 95 near target and restaurants.

I don’t see Howard Johnson’s around anymore, and since it’s owned by Wyndham I thought that it’s been rebranded and would be a good place to stay. What a disappointment! We had a ground floor room where we could park outside our door. Once inside we immediately noticed that the bathroom floor wasn’t as clean as expected, but we found cockroaches around the desk and coffee maker. It was too late to search out different accommodations so we took our luggage back out to the car, kept only what we needed for the night and made sure it was sealed up. I checked for bed bugs and didn’t find any so we slept (not soundly), got up early, showered, shook our clothes and got out of there. We did report this to the front desk, and told them that we left several cockroaches that we killed on a piece of paper on the desk in the room. They were apologetic but we didn’t stick around to haggle about it, we just left. With that experience, I would never stay at a Howard Johnson’s again.

That is why I chose this hotel. I was 100% disappointed in the room and the hotel itself! Nasty!! From the elevator to our room!! Nasty! I will not do that mistake again! Look closely at all pics! I was sooo disappointed! We slept on top of the bed spread because of how nasty it looked! We were so tired or tire otherwise would have driven back home! The furniture was so ragged and dirty and the air conditioner was barely working and the cigarette butt holder was right in front of our door so that is where everyone came to smoke and of course when we open the door the smoke came right in the room! The hotel was dirty and the floors and the carpet in the elevator and I could go on and on but it was that bad! The hair dryer had lipstick that looked like had melted on it and the only clean thing was the shower and it was new. We also had to ask for a remote to the tv.
The people who worked up front were awesome and we totally appreciated that!!! Please take and invest in upgrading and cleaning this place up!!

|0.53km from city centerThis hotel has been renovated and is located in downtown Florence. It looks like they are trying to revitalize the area. The rooms are very humid, but there are dehumidifiers in each room. The cleaning staff should check and empty the bins when they clean the rooms. The bin in our room was full when we checked into our room at 2:30 PM. It was full again by 7 AM the next morning! The breakfast buffet, although not elaborate, but was delicious. The scrambled eggs stayed hot and the creamy grits were the best I've ever eaten at a hotel breakfast. Service was a little slow, it seemed that only 1 server was working at the time we were there. They also did not start serving breakfast until 7:30 AM, a little later than most hotel.

Bathroom is small and not very modern, but it is ok. Front desk was very cordial and Covid restrictions/recommendations are still present (gym is closed). Finally, hotel provides an excellent breakfast. For the price per room/night, I recommend this place.

|4.91km from city centerTrust the reviews on this one guys. I've stayed in Motel 6 all around the US and have never had a poor experience like this one. Stay away from this particular one. Buckle up and get ready for this review. We'll start with the bath towels...they were hand towels, no actual human sized towels to dry off with. Noise: The environment is incredibly noisy so be prepared for no sleep. There were people constantly walking by and talking by our room and our room was right next to the train tracks which apparently is very active - we had a train come by blowing its whistle every couple of hours all through the night. Lights: If you are a sleeper who needs most or complete darkness, bring a sleep mask. There are lights that are always on outside that shine through the window. There is also a clock and temperature light imbedded into the mirror that continuously flashes blue light between the two readings. Cleanliness: There was a large crack in the ceiling, which normally I can look past but there was clear evidence of water damage on the walls which left me unsettled. The room had obviously not been cleaned (or not well) based on the dirt and hair everywhere - and I'm talking noticeable amounts; I can look past a little here or there. The room also had been smoked in, even though it was supposed to be ”non-smoking”. Pros: The hotel is cheap. And I know in most cases you get what you pay for but this hotel did not meet the minimum standards of care compared to others in the $50-60 price range around the country. I tried to give this place a fair shot but in the end I just couldn't do it. I ended up leaving around 4 AM just to get away from it. There are other hotels in the area around the same price, try those out instead.

They had my young son go with them from the hotel without my permission . I made the staff aware of their error so hopefully they understand how serious that is to give out information to other people who may call or show up .
