At the reception we were welcomed with the good German hospitality and personally guide to our room. Our room was situated at the old part of the hotel (near de mainroad). This part of the hotel is somewhat out dated. The bed was not so good, my back was sore. Breakfast was well organized, good quality and fresh. Real scrabbled eggs, But No fresh orange juice. Because it was very close to the skipiste and enough parkingspace, we would come again, But only in the new part of the hotel and of they have a better bed there.

The Hochsauerland 2010 is a rather large hotel but at the same time the dedicated staff manages to keep a familial atmosphere. The hotel-rooms are nice and have different designs to suit all tastes. The Sauna and the Spa are magnificient. The swimming-pool has a real good size for some real swimming. The food is good though there could be improvement on this account. The location of the hotel allows you to visit Willingen with its shops, restaurants etc. easily but at the same time if you turn around you are in the midst of forests and fields. Perfect for a visit to Willingen.

This is what I wrote after our first visit 2 years ago: „ WeFive wrote a review May 2018 Mainz, Germany 131 contributions10 helpful votes Beautiful hotel This is the only hotel for which I cannot tell anything negative!! Really nice employees, good food, especially breakfast, good position, kids room with toys, entertainment for kids during the meals!!“ We really enjoyed, we did not ask for anything special but we got some gift cards for drinks, kids got for kids cocktails, they had a nice buffet for dinner and breakfast. Now, I know it is corina time and that some things they cannot do better, like waiting in the line when ever you want to get something to eat, Menu without kids meals, all full of Pfeffer and spicy... no entertainment, like coloring pages for kids during meals, we asked for some gift cards - they said we don’t have that package, because they offer it only during summer holidays :( And lots of activities are not working because of the corona, I guess but then hotel has to go down with the price or to go up with the offer! But they went up only with prices and that is what I cannot understand regarding the business... No welcome surprise for kids, no Gutscheins for drink, no entertainment during the meals for kids (coloring pages) - only high prices... and long lines during the breakfast and dinner.

There was a mouse walking through my room in the third floor. It’s 3:50 am now, and I still haven’t slept a bit this night. I don’t like the idea of mouse walking over me when I sleep! I saw the mouse at around midnight. Went down to the reception to ask for a different room. “The hotel is officially booked out, sorry!!!” And no more interest in resolving this situation. And just in case the reception staff cannot book the suites (which I offered to pay full extra price for, just because I need a little bit of sleep before the 12 hour drive towards the east I have tomorrow (actually today)) but simply coz only hotel management can approve booking of a suite, once again, no solution. But where is management of the hotel at midnight...? Lol, you guessed it. In their beds. I asked the receptionist to at least get the plastic pool chair for laying (sorry don’t know how it’s called in English, basically that thing, people use to lay on when sunbathing). Of course, everything is locked and nobody can touch it or go there or simply anything. Brilliant. Sauerland Stern Willingen Upland has earned its “stern” star. I end up in a lounge, connecting two armchairs, to serve as my bed tonight. Btw (and this is not sarcastic) the kitchen is perfect. That team and cook there should get a Michelin’s star. Fantastic food, loving every single bite. But how can you guys not care about a guest who is asking for help, solution and you don’t even care to stand up from the chair to look around to fix something for a guest who paid for the room. The receptionist is kind but “anti-solution” focused. Dear management, next time, could you please let me know about uninvited guests in advance? Thereby I can book few extra rooms so that the nice can hang out there and I can peacefully rest. I guess that is the original idea behind hospitality and hotel industry in general...? Maybe I’m just so ignorant and again I missed the new trend in hotel industry. Sauerland Stern is a true Trendsetter. Hope the mice feels comfy, though. I wouldn’t like it to feel any discomfort. Please, don’t even entertain the idea of caring and helping your guests! That could set a bad precedence in this new era of rights equality. You don’t want the mice to start complaining about guests sleeping in their beds... That would be a disaster!!!! Seriously guys? Are you for real? Take down those stars on your hotel!!! Hide them in basement because that’s where they belong. Are you for real that I should wait the whole night until the management comes to work...so they can make their mighty decision? I guess “someone” has a hard time managing ...? You are a joke!

I had decided to celebrate my 50th birthday in Willingen. While I was looking around to find a place which could accommodate my 50 guest and offer also breakfast and dinner, I found this place. It was perfect for my birthday party weekend with my family and friend. Everybody in the hotel was very friendly, the food was amazing and we all occupied the bar for two nights. We loved it. It definitely exceeded my expectations. We all won’t forget it. A big thanks to the team of the Sporthotel Eimberg.

For a long weekend my husband and I went with our children of 4 and 2 years old to stay at this hotel. It’s located in a lovely village, just a 5 minute drive to Willingen center. To make sure our children had breakfast and dinner every night at the same time without waiting too long we used the half board facility. The food was surprisingly well and diverse. We loved the swimming facility and the indoor play room for the children. The staff was very friendly and we were very happy with the housekeepers who came in every day to make the room nice. The large room was wonderful. It even had an extra room that accommodated two persons. The master bedroom had a large bed where we could sleep all four of us when necessary. It even had room for a baby bed for our two year old. The view over the valley was great. Moreover the room had a small kitchen. The two tv’s were of good quality and had a large variety of international channels. The area is also beautiful for short walks in the forest as we went to a large playground nearby the hotel. The hotel across also had a great playground outside with a small petfarm where we could come play. I am looking forward to stay in other H(+) hotels in the future and would highly recommend this one.

This hotel just outside Willingeb is situated on the hill. Almost on the ski-track. It is an family-owned hotel, during the ski-season it is crowded with Dutch families with children. The location is top, you drive through a tunnel to teach the hotel. The food is good, water swimming pool a little cold but okay and the old jacuzzi is working & a lot of fun for the kids.
