      I understand that hotels are short handed right now, however, there is absolutely no excuse for the disgusting condition of this property. We have been going to Boone regularly for over 15 years and this used to be out "go to" hotel. We hadn't been in a few years and will never go back. It's like nothing has been done to update in those 15 years and it's just gross. I also have issues with the lack of Dairy free options in the breakfast offerings. This is an outline of our issues: 1) First day we had only two towels. Went to call down and there was no dial tone. Decided to unplug phone and plug back in to double check. When we plugged back in .. it just pushed in to a hole. When we went downstairs later and mentioned that issue to the two people on the desk, one just laughed. 2) Later that first day we noticed that the toilet was dirty and when we went to take shower the next morning we noticed a ton of mold in the shower. ( see pics) All wooden surfaces were gross and sticky. It may be because they are using the wrong cleaners on finished wood, but it makes the surfaces seem dirty. 3) We went down to breakfast and my options were limited as I have a lot of dietary restrictions. Basically Gluten free and Dairy Free. They had Rice Krispies.. but no Non-Dairy milk. I've never stayed in a Marriott or Hilton property that didn't have some in the back at least. I had to go to Starbucks for breakfast. I couldn't eat the eggs at the hotel because rather than either hard boiled or scrambled.. all they had were what I call "Plastic omelets" which I know are not Gluten Free. The next day I thinned dairy free coffee creamers with water to make "milk" for my Rice Krispies. On the first day, before going to Starbucks, I went over to the desk to tell the staff about the unclean room and the dairy free problem. I asked to talk to a manager. They said she wasn't in and didn't think she was coming in. On a very busy weekend in Boone (Labor Day and Concert) .. we never saw a manager. 3) When we got upstairs the housekeeping staff was right outside our door. I told her that while I realized that they couldn't do anything about the mold right away, the toilet needed cleaning. She shook her head ( she seemed dazed to tell you the truth) .. bottom line .. they never cleaned the toilet. The desk staff did offer to see if they could move us..but we were all unpacked and had to go out so we said don't bother. We were only staying one more night anyway. I'm so disgusted with the condition of the building, the outdated procedures (no digital key, no online check out etc, very old air conditioner etc) and desk staff that were useless. Looking back on old reviews I see this issue has been going on since at least February 2021 - with cut and paste responses from the hotel promising to look in to the issues. Obviously they never were looked in to. Don't stay here until they do a major renovation and get a staff that can do what they are paid to do.
