|1.31km from city centerWe had a great stay at Passal. It was the perfect place to begin our Azores adventure. Our room was clean and modern and was the ideal space to get settled on Sao Miguel! The experience at Passal is truly shaped by Paulo, who goes above and beyond for his guests. Paulo is a wealth of knowledge, and he checked in with us every day to help us plan and maximize our time on island. When our luggage was lost for 48 hours by the airline, he went out of his way, even driving to the airport to help rectify the situation. We only wish we had connected with him prior to the trip to get a head start! With so many plans and ideas for Sao Miguel and the other islands, we’ll be back. And we’ll definitely be staying with Paulo at Passal Hostel. Highly recommend!

|0.87km from city centerThe hotel is beautiful and has a very nice location in the center of the town and not too far from the marina at all. While each room is a little different in dimensions and layout, I found that it added to the charm of the building. We did have some trouble with the climate control (either being too hot or cold.) The restaurant in the hotel was absolutely delicious if a little more expensive than some of the other restaurants nearby. The reception staff were very helpful and available every time we needed something. My biggest complaint is not really with the hotel, but there are many beggars who would catch you on the way out of the door. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay.

|1.76km from city centerHighly recommend this hostel. It was my first stay in a hostel as there was a big event happening this weekend and hotels were very pricey. Therefore I thought I would give it a try as it looked very decent from the pictures and reviews. I was correct! I stayed 3 nights. Very clean and over the top helpful and friendly staff. Especially TELMA! She was awesome! You can tell all the staff actually cared about their jobs and made it that much more inviting. Comfortable sleep and very close to everything. Even helped me with airport transfers, day tours and general knowledge of the island. Loved my stay! Sincerely, Daniel

|0.87km from city centerWe arrived after midnight for a quick overnight. Check in was done very efficiently by the front desk. Very friendly and pleasant. The room is a standard hotel room: clean, functional, comfortable. The walls are thin, though. We could here the coughs, conversations of the people next door. The breakfast was expansive and the staff were very efficient despite being swamped with guests. Overall a nice stay. Very close to the airport. It is a bit further away from the main tourist attractions.

|0.93km from city centerI was very pleased by this hotel! As the town itself is small, I found that I could easily walk to the main drag, a shopping mall, and even a pineapple farm easily from here. The staff were all very professional and friendly, and they cleaned my room every day. The price was great, the breakfast was decent, and the bathroom was nice, clean and spacious. The air conditioning worked very well (I was here in the summer). And did I mention how friendly and clean everything was!? I hope I can stay here again!

|0.91km from city centerAfter leaving our first accommodation after 2 nights of a 7 night stay because of road noise we found this gem of a hotel. The reception was very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely quiet room whist still being central to all the city offered. Breakfast was nice too. Thank you for all your help.

|1.1km from city centerWhen I booked originally 8 months before departure, this hotel wasn’t even on Expedia. According to my tour driver it had been a hostel until Covid. There are 3 floors with 3 rooms. The staff is very helpful and friendly. You could leave your luggage in the office until your room was ready. There was a cafe that opens from breakfast till dinner. The room was plenty spacious with a full kitchenette and marble bathroom. It’s located within a five minute walk of the main plaza and about 10 minutes from the main marina. Small grocery stores and plenty of restaurants and coffee shops are nearby. It is definitely a hidden treasure in ponta del gada.

Ponta Delgada
|2.1km from city centerMy opinion is that this establishment has a confused identity in that it is unhospitable, bordering on unfriendly, poorly located and charging high end rates but also provides touches one would expect to find in a cheap budget hotel chain. The Positives : Our room was on the Executive Floor and was spotlessly clean, big in size, with a comfortable bed and good quality bedding. For this it gets a star. The ensuite was also large with an in-bath shower, with a good quality rain forest head, however I personally dislike in-bath showers and consider them to be a safety hazard. I believe every hotel at this stage should be providing a walk in shower. The hotel has a nice pool with a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi for which it received its second star, however these areas can be busy when tours are in the hotel. The Negatives : Our room did not have a balcony hence the sea view was really irrelevant due to the window cill being above waist level therefore the view could not be enjoyed other than in a standing position. The tea tray was abysmal, indeed I have never seen its likes in a budget hotel !! paper cups were provided ???? when I asked at reception, I was simply informed that's what they provide. Paper cups in an executive room ?Any environmental value was quickly superseded by wrapping each in single use plastic. Furthermore no milk was provided nor was any welcome note or complimentary water. I have never stayed in any hotel anywhere worldwide that didn't provide complimentary water in the room, let alone one charging such nightly rates. The buffet breakfast is substantial, yet here again there were issues as discussed in previous reviews and touches of budget chain hotel. I yet again simply cannot understand any executive chef permitting cold plates to be provided to serve hot food, not that all the food will be hot to start with, indeed depending on your luck and timing the food will vary from warm to stone cold and certainly cannot afford heat loss to a cold plate. Tea and coffee are self served from 2 machines in front of which you queue up !!! a queue which can be significant when tours are in occupation. I have never queued for tea in such a manor in any hotel previously, it was more akin to getting tea in a petrol station than a high end hotel. Unhospitable : We arrived early after a long journey and dropped the bags at the hotel, we were informed that the room wasn't ready however if such became available prior to the 15.00 check in time that the hotel would ring us. We called back at 14.00 hot and sweaty, ready to throw ourselves in a chair for an hour to be told that the room was now ready ??? Well then as I have complained strongly in another review, where was our phone call ??? Mind you in hind sight the reception did not show much hospitality in many issues. We walked in and out of the hotel, past reception, several times per day, and not once did the receptionists (at times up to 3 of them at times) lift there eyes or acknowl

|1km from city centerThe hotel does not have a lobby and just went in feels like a big car shop. However, the process of entering the room and after entering the room, it feels very good. The owner of the house decorated and decorated the house very tastefully. The hotel is right in the city center, you can walk on the pedestrian street and the beach, and there are Chinese restaurants and Chinese city shops not far away. Maybe it is the peak season, I feel that the room price is a bit expensive, it is estimated that it is suitable when the off-season! This is the paradise of hydrangeas, the streets are covered with hydrangea petals.

|1.18km from city centeras others have said - wow the staff is SO friendly and endlessly sweet and helpful. but also wow, the building is in such sad shape. there are dozens of other significantly nicer, newer, cleaner places like Canadiano Urban Nature Hotel next door for just a little more per night. hotel alcides, closer to the main plaza, was $50 usd cheaper per night when i went in mid-september and was so much more appealing in a boutique hotel sort of way (but it was booked when i got back from another island). if secure parking is your main concern, then this is a good place for you as it's a gated lot behind the building, but otherwise, i would not recommend this place to anyone, which is sad to post since the staff are all so lovely. the room/cleanliness are acceptable at best, but not for the price charged. as a solo female traveler, if this hotel had been in a more major city in mainland europe, i'd have been very freaked out by the dark creepy hallways etc (but ponta delgada is so chill and safe, it was fine)

|0.57km from city centerThe front desk employees were exceptionally helpful. The gave good suggestions for restaurants and sites on the island. They even called a site to make sure they were open on a national holiday when most places were closed. The restaurant had a large selection of food choices on their breakfast and dinner buffets. We ordered Ala carte at dinner and the food was hot and freshly prepared. Not a lot of spice, but flavorful non the less. The location was a little away from town center and had no ocean views. Rooms were very clean and special requests were handled quickly.

|0.73km from city centerWe booked a 6 night stay in the Azores through Travel Zoo and picked Hotel Delgado. We couldn't have been happier. The rooms were nice. We had a renovated room on the fifth floor. There was a small deck overlooking the street. Perfect location. It was a short walk to the port and there were several restaurants in walking distance. The breakfast in the morning was good. There is a small bar on the ground floor. We stopped there every night either on the way out or when we got back. Carlos is the bartender and he was fantastic. He was working his tail off taking care of everybody and was always pleasant. Plus he is very knowledgeable about the island. He left a great impression of Azorean hospitality on us. We'll definitely stay there again next time.

|2.14km from city centerA fabulous hotel, going through ownership changes when I stayed as some features are unfinished construction but no complaints. The views from every part of the hotel are beautiful. The bedroom was superb, the swimming pool was very nice and breakfast was amazing. The dinner was good but minimal on offer due to change of ownership. This will be a very very lovely hotel once it has been fully completed and maintained....defiantly worth going back to again in the future. The reception, restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and made my stay very welcoming.

Ponta Delgada
|1.77km from city centerAntillia's facilities - pool, spa, fitness center - may put this in a 4-star category, but our room definitely was not at that level. I booked Antillia through an Azores tour operator and I trusted their judgment on this being a 4-star hotel, based on a wonderful experience we'd had in Terceira last year. I was expecting something comparable. I don't know if we were put on the ”package traveler” section of the hotel - we had to take two elevators to the lobby area and were some distance away - but there was no coffee maker or kettle, no mini bar (despite a listing of items on the desk), no toiletries aside from a body/hand/hair gel, and despite asking for a double room, we were given twin beds. Which were pushed together, but made up separately. It's not the same. I was surprised when I saw housekeeping staff leave a room with a kettle, so maybe some rooms have a coffee/tea-making setup. Breakfasts were sumptuous but were not included in our rate. I know that's an issue for the tour company and not the hotel. The best part of our room was the balcony. The room was clean and tidy, but no frills. The reviews calling this a luxury hotel - I'm not sure where that comes in. I joked to my husband that it would be easier for someone to get their legs waxed at Antillia than to find a cup of coffee : ) Check out Apito Dourado down the street for a great meal!

Ponta Delgada
|2.03km from city centerLove love love this hotel! Don’t let the slightly odd location fool you (it’s right at the entrance to the city; it’s actually perfect once you’re acquainted with the area, and walking distance to just about everything in PD). Also, the inside of the hotel is perfect – new, modern, clean, spacious, and refined. The outside doesn’t do it justice. The spa: Amazing and pristine. We used it almost daily. It’s so clean and has everything you need after a full day of exploring on your feet. The breakfast: Wow. There’s little else you can think of wanting. The service/concierge: This is the best part. Every single employee of the hotel was wonderful, caring, and attentive to our questions and wants. The recommendations given by Luis and Victor (apologies if I misspelled your names!) were exactly what we wanted. We arrived without much of a plan, which ultimately didn’t matter – Luis and Victor helped plan out or itinerary, location by location, including the restaurants. This hotel has few, if any, negatives. Stay here, it won't disappoint. We’ll be back!

|1.5km from city centerWe went to Ponta Delgada for 5 days to surprise our parents on their 80th and decided to stay at Hotel Gaivota. Best decision we made. The staff were all super professional, helpful, and went the extra mile for my sister and I. Booking a breakfast for my parents to enjoy with us was no problem and we were happy to pay the extra fee. The rooms were clean, neat and more than enough for the two of us. We were aware of the parking restrictions and opted to park underneath for the night. It was actually very reasonable up to 08:00 in the morning. The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to everything. We loved our stay, so a special thank you to all the staff and a special thank you to Sonia who put up with our questions about restaurants, florists, best places to visit etc. We are most grateful to have had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Gaivota and will definitely be back for their yummy breakfast.

|1.34km from city centerIt was our first time on San Miguel and we can only recommend this hotel! 10 minutes from the airport, fantastic staff, central to everything and spacious, clean rooms. Everything was spotless, the staff at reception very attentive and helpful. We had to book in for breakfast, but that was no problem, if you don't want to book of avoid waiting, there is a café/breakfast place just outside on the left. It is central an perfect to explore Ponta Delgada and surroundings. It does not have a carpark should you rent a car but there is a carpark just up the road for 50p an hour. Definitely would use this hotel again.

Ponta Delgada
|1.19km from city centerA fairly new and clean hotel, but the staff really destroyed our experience unfortunately. The pros: - New large rooms - Small but clean bathroom - Free breakfast - Free parking - Central location (not a huge city) - Comfortable bed The cons: - Staff there to do bare minimum and make you feel like you're annoying them - No breakfast left half an hour before it's meant to finish - Line ups for coffee at breakfast - You can hear everything through the front door to all the rooms being cleaned above, below and next to you, good luck sleeping without ear plugs - No water or anything provided in the room except tea Arrived on a 6am flight sleepless from Toronto to be looked at and in one glance told rooms won't be ready till 2pm, no exceptions. I ended up asking every few hours as we were freezing on chairs in the lobby, and were only told it's full and that a lesser noisy room would be available if we want to take it (smaller, smaller bed and facing the street) to which we said no, as we're light sleepers. You would think they would tell us when the room was ready but no, after falling asleep in a chair under the blasting AC, I woke up sick, stiff and the room was available but the lady at the front desk had better things to do than tell me. She could at least have offered us breakfast with warm coffee but no, zero effort made. At breakfast the next day, half an hour before closing there was no bread left or scrambled eggs. When we asked they said it was over, meanwhile we could see two cooks in the kitchen making scrambled eggs but obviously not for guests... this was the general experience throughout the stay. The best was at checkout being asked if we drank the bottle of water in the room. Firstly, there wasn't one, ironically, were they going to charge us for that too? Stay somewhere else, there are nicer hotels and inns, some near the waterfront and restaurants.

Ponta Delgada
|1.06km from city centerThe hotel was clean and surprisingly quiet given its central location. The blue and white color combination throughout was a nice design choice. The bed was on the hard side, but was actually two beds pushed together so you can fall into the canyon in the middle of the night. The breakfast was ok, the variety of items was the normal selection but it wasn’t very tasty. There is a Spa area that you can reserve access in one hour time blocks. It’s a hot tub, sauna and steam room that also comes with shower and bathroom. The steam room was more of a stink room and so not usable. There is a rooftop pool that was nice. Parking-The listing says that there is free parking but in reality it’s not accessible (at least when I was there) because of random street closures that meant that the street in front of the hotel was inaccessible to cars and I had to park a couple blocks away. On that note a warning that the dense urban center is tough to drive around because of very narrow streets, one ways, and random street closures meant that google maps was nearly useless for navigation that I just got frustrated and parked the car and then walked the rest of the way to the hotel. My room, number 101, had a silly design flaw in that the bathroom walls were glass and so anyone else in the room can see you in the shower or sitting on the toilet. There is fogged glass that only goes 1/2 way up but that doesn’t really address the issue of seeing you or hearing bathroom noises.

|1.76km from city centerSo far the best hotel of this year's Azores trips. Beautiful, very clean room with view of the port. Great Spa! Good breakfast and extremely friendly staff. One point of criticism: like in so many hotels, there is no enough possibility to dry wet clothes. On the Azors it will keep it wet from above. And it would be nice if you could dry shoes and jackets.
