Quaint mini pet friendly boutique hotel with a lot of character. Very inviting, informative and helpful reception personnel. Very clean and vibrant lobby area with lots of character. Room was very spacious and spotless with magnificent views from the balcony of the water. I felt at home at this marvelous little hidden gem. Even though it’s a little bit off of the main transient walkways we will definitely come back.

I booked the Atlas at short notice and chose a Superior Double with a balcony overlooking the garden at the back (I had room 211). It was very quiet, apart from Friday and Saturday when, despite closing the balcony doors, I could hear music till 2.00am (I think from The Borzoi) but that was hardly the hotel's fault. The bed was king sized and incredibly comfortable. The room was equipped with hairdryer, kettle, fridge, safe, TV and radio. Aircon, WiFi, and slippers were also provided. A bottle of (extremely good) white wine was provided on arrival, as was a litre bottle of water every day if needed. There was cleaning every day with fresh towels and the toiletries were also replaced every day. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and carried my cases both up and down the stairs for me. Nowhere is perfect and I would say a downside was that while the wardrobe had plenty of space for one (I was travelling alone) it would be definitely cramped for 2, especially since there were also no drawers at all. However, all in all, an excellent choice in a great location at a reason price, with no extras to pay for and I would certainly stay again.

Our normal hotel was not open this season, so we selected the Water as an alternative. We had seen criticism of the access, but knew where the taxi would drop us, knew the walk along the old harbour and our friend lives a little further up the steps, so no surprises. So for a little effort you get a location on there harbour with unquestionably the best view in Skiathos Town. The room is very clean and functional, the balcony and view superb. We found the location was excellent, the club next door was not open this season, and did not find the one next door too noisy, in fact when we got in on several nights it had already shut. Demitris met us by the barrier and helped with the cases, Covid has caused problems for everyone but he helped with kettle etc. We had a late flight so he let us use and shower in our room in the afternoon, a real help! There are a few glitches, but Dimitris seemed keen to resolve these, first was no wardrobe so clothes stay in suitcase and the second was deadlocking the escape doors. In summary, we would look to come back here next year.

Over the years I’ve stayed in several of the pensions on Skiathos. Filoxenia (Fee-L-KSenia, say it right for the taxi), is a new favorite. It’s located toward the end of Papadiamante. The port is an easy walk, but I’d recommend a taxi to the ferry with luggage. The hotel is spotless, the marble floors, linens, and bathrooms are kept in pristine condition. You’ll find no dust or mess and I particularly liked that the floors are one height, no stepping up an inch into the bathroom or the balcony—and less chance to stub my toes every time I go there. The staff is helpful, patient, and kind. Occasionally we had a language barrier, but we managed just fine. The balcony is comfortable to dry clothes on or to sit and relax. There is breakfast available for a small fee. I’m gluten-free and it’s mostly breads and cakes. It is convenient, although breakfast is available almost anywhere in the port area. On my last day before continuing my journey I asked for only milk and an egg—if I’d figured out how to say that in Greek sooner I’d have done it the entire trip. There’s a tiny grocer on the corner with good fruit and basics to supplement, and there’s a refrigerator in your room. You can purchase bottled water for a small price there too. I’m looking forward to staying there again soon. It’s not too far from bus stop three for beach access. (Upper end of the street and turn right.) Bus stop four is the other way, but I don’t recommend it. The traffic is fast and dangerous in that direction.

We found this hotel to be in a brilliant location and really comfortable. Demetrius on reception was really friendly. Then the Thomas Cook situation happened this is when the owner and staff really stepped up. Not only did they make sure we would have a room for a couple of nights if we needed to stay longer until our flight home was sorted out they even jiggled things around so we would be able to stay in the same room. They were continually encouraging us and helped to put our minds at rest so we could enjoy our holiday. We will be coming back and would stay nowhere else but this hotel.

These apartments are perfect. They are owned by the loveliest family who are willing to help if you have any questions about the area. When we arrived the owner offered to carry our luggage up the stairs and pointed out some key travel spots. We also got a ride back to the airport to save us on a taxi which was very kind! The room was cleaned every day and had plenty of storage and WiFi, it was just what we needed for a 4 night stay. The location couldn't have been better, in the heart of Skiathos town but not too close to the noise, just up the road. There is a bus stop very close by which takes you to the west beaches and the port is not even a 10 minute walk away, down the main street. The airport is a 10 minute drive or so. All in all an excellent experience and we would come back here! Thank you to all the staff for such a great stay xx

We were extremely lucky to find this lovely little hotel after leaving our original poor accommodation that we had booked through an extremely prominent holiday company. We had a warm welcome from our hosts and we both felt a sigh of relief upon arrival after a very difficult start to our holiday. This wonderful little hotel provided us with a home from home for our fabulous week in Skiathos. Everything we needed was there, a spotlessly clean and comfortable room with everything we required including very comfy beds and a great sunny little balcony with a sea view. Fell asleep more than once on there in the marvellous hanging chairs. The Entelia is right in the town tucked away in a little square. It’s close to all the amenities but it’s a peaceful retreat whenever you need it. The hosts are extremely helpful and friendly and gave us a map and recommended places to visit to get the best from our holiday. We had a great time here. We will definitely return.

Just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to Anya and Annie at Mimoza Studios for looking after us so well when our flight was cancelled due to a hurricane. Our first time in Skiathos and almost the whole week was spoiled by hurricane Zorba. Torrential rain, gale force winds, dark, cold and damp, it was not the holiday we had so looked forward to. When our return flight was cancelled and we were stuck at the airport, having been told (incorrectly, as it turned out) that we couldn't return to our apartment, Anya and her English friend Annie opened their doors to about 20 of us who were all flight only customers of Thomas Cook. The Mimoza had actually just closed for the end of the season, but they opened up, welcomed us all in and made sure everyone was comfortable and warm. Annie also went out of her way the next day to find out for us what was going on and when our return flight had been rescheduled for, enabling us all to grab a couple of hours in the sunshine which had finally returned after eluding us all week. I can't thank them enough for their hospitality, good humour and reassurance to a bunch of tired, stressed and cold, damp holiday makers in our time of need. THANK YOU so much, ladies, for everything you did for us xxx

We booked the room through a travel agency called Grecos Travel and stayed there for 5 nights. First of all, even though we asked for a double bed (because we are a couple) and the travel agency said they had booked a with a double bed, we got two sigle beds side by side. When we confronted the receptionist for the bed he said that the maids didn't had time to make it look like a double bed(what kind of management is this??). The service was really bad. We had to carry our luggage 3 floors by ourselves. There was no elevato. The room was small with thin walls so we could hear everything that was happening in other rooms(we were lucky though and our neighbors weren't noisy at night). It wasn't very clean (which is very important nowadays especially because of the covid). The shower didn't have a curtain so when you took a shower the water was all over the place. The room didn't have a phone, the sheets were never changed and the room curtains were dirty and unhinged on one side. Lastly one day we had asked them to clean our room and when we came back it smelled bad, like they had used the same water to mop the entire hotel. The only reason we stayed there for our entire vacation was the location, 5' from town center. All an all bad accommodation. Wouldn't recommend!!!

Just spent a week here and there really are good and bad points to this place which makes a review and score tricky, as some things are done very well and then let down in other areas which is a shame. Firstly the views, wow they are definitely worth the walk up the very steep hill from the edge of town near bus stop 4. There is a small church behind the property and you can see the airport runway and planes coming in to land as well as great views across town, Bourtzi island and the sea. The place is family run and they are all very personable and friendly and their dog is super friendly even came into our room a couple of times which is nice for dog lovers whose pet is in kennels back home. The small bar area is nice and the menu is limited but offers all you need for a spot of lunch if you don’t want to head into town in the heat of the day. There is a car park at the rear if you hire a vehicle (we had a quad for 2 days, great fun!). The small pool is nice and offers the chance to cool off and although their aren’t a lot of sunbeds we got 2 every day even when the resort started to get busier towards the end of the week. Also got beanbags and chairs and tables with decent parasols, and it’s so quiet save for the odd kid now and again! So all well and good but when you are self catering you expect a bit of help and the kitchen facilities are poor even by Greek standards, want a brew then boil a saucepan of bottled water! Clean glasses to drink from no all dirty. To top it off we were drinking a few cans of Mythos around the pool and came back to find a laminate on our table telling us this is not allowed. If that’s the case why not come and talk to us like adults or put up a permanent sign somewhere, we are self catering after all, and still put €65 behind the bar on our room tab! I am not sure if it was just us but our shower had no curtain which meant water everywhere. We were in room 13 which had no view and got hardly any sun on it, speaking to guests it seems upper floor rooms are mainly given to returning guests of which there seem many. Finally on checking out we were told we couldn’t keep our room even though nobody checked into it after us as we were still onsite until 5 O’clock. There is a “shower room”, which is basically a toilet, but they don’t even provide you with a towel which again is poor service even in Greece. Overall a nice property out of the main town albeit up a steep hill which provides a peaceful retreat, but probably not the place to stay if you are looking for some of the finer details. That said you get what you pay for.

I am currently staying at Skiathos Holiday Suites and Villas, in the Afroditi Villa and it's great! I don't know what to start with :) What I first noticed was the yard/lawn. It's huge, it has nice green grass, trees, a swing hanging from a tree, garden chairs and tables on one side. There is a bar right there, with a nice bartender who makes great cocktails. The beach is 50 meters away and you can hear the see from the rooms in the morning. Also, from our terrace, you can also see the sea. And the sunset <3 Then, the personnel: they are all great! Very friendly and helpful and with an excelent level of English. We had a problem with the fridge in our room (it kind of froze everything you would put in it rather than cool it). They tried different things to fix it, and until they did, they checked on us several times and also replaced what we had it it with new stuff. We even received some eco goat cheese for my two year old son. They were also very understanding when it came to his allergies and made some custom sandwitches for us. Also, I talked to some "neighbours" who were very satisfied with the attention and understanding they received regarding their gluten free diet. The breakfast was good. I discovered here the greek yoghurt with honey and walnuts. Great stuff! :) They also have a la carte menu during the day, with sandwitches, burgers and salads. Unfortunately, the kitchen closes at 6 PM, but that is when a very nice taverna nearby opens (Lia). Our villa has 3 bedrooms downstairs - each of them has glass doors towards the yard (the yard is separated by several stairs and bushes). Upstairs, there is a large living room and kitchen with everything you need. Apart for regular white towels, we also found in the room beach towels. During breakfast (served next to the yard), they have nice music, and also during the day. Even the hairdryer was a pleasant surprise :) At hotels, they usually have weak ones that barely blow any air, which can be a real problem for my hair. But this one is good :D Today it rained a lot, so we didn't go out. I only ventured to the bar to order some food (separate buildings). I asked when should I come to get it, but they insisted they would bring it to our villa. And it came accompanied by a bottle of wine on the house :) We also got another bottle of wine when we arrived (it was waiting for us in the room) and the first drinks we ordered were on the house, too. If you are traveling with young children, you should know a couple of things: the villa in which we are staying has many stone stairs that you can't really secure. Also, the sofa in the living room is actually formed by many pillows on top of a base made of stone. It is confortable enough, but if the child removes the pillows, it can be a bit dangerous. The first 2 days were a bit difficult for us, but both us and the child got used to the environment pretty soon. Anyway, we didn't stay much inside, as we wanted to make the most of the beach and

My parents, husband and 8 month old baby and I stayed at Kivo for 10 nights in June and had the best time. The views speak for themselves and the food is out of this world, probably the best we had on the island. We stayed on a half board basis, the breakfast buffet was delicious, fresh breads every day with a big variety of savoury and sweet options. The dinner menu for half board guests was huge and I there wasn’t one dish on there I didn’t love! The best part of Kivo for my family was Eleftheria! My son has a cows milk allergy, so before our stay I emailed to ask if there were food options for him and alternative milks at breakfast and every day she came out with different mills and all the things he could eat at breakfast, I also asked if there was a shop close by that sold Evian water for his formula milk and when we arrived Eleftheria had fully stocked our bedroom with more than enough large bottles of Evian for the week which I didn’t ask for. From the moment we checked in until the minute we left she could not have done more for us, constantly checking if we had what we needed for the baby, running around to make us comfortable, giving us knowledge about the island and Greece in general. Most of all she was a friendly face who made us feel welcome every single day, we were really sad to say goodbye at the end of our trip - she is an absolute credit to the hotel and does not take a single break! There was a wedding going on one of the days so that meant a lot of the hotel was shut off which would usually be very annoying as it’s a small place, but the owner of the hotel made alternative arrangements for us so we didn’t feel we were missing out on a whole day of our holiday. I also have to mention the lovely driver who takes you to and from the airport and Skiathos town. He was so kind, always making a fuss of the baby and taking us wherever we needed to go without a moan - he is also a credit to the hotel as well as all the waiting and bar staff. All in all I couldn’t fault this hotel. Thank you so much Kivo, we will definitely come back!

Sadly we only had a 7 night stay at these beautiful apartments, wishing now we had booked a 14 night holiday. The villa is family run and you couldn’t ask for better hosts - nothing was too much trouble for them. The room I had was spacious and clean with regular towel and linen changes. My daughter and Family were next door so the children could wander from apartment to apartment safely. We had a garden view, which was very pretty and well maintained. Beaches are within walking distance and although no pool at the villa you were able to use any nearby pool. I know a pool is in planning for them. Supermarket directly opposite and more nearby. Excellent choice of restaurants within walking distance so everything is to hand if you don’t want to get the bus or taxi elsewhere. If I could return tomorrow I would I just loved everything about this holiday.

The hotel itself is lovely, great views over the bay and the beach itself is fabulous. The outside eating/bar area is charming, traditional and clean. We had a superb room, freshly decorated with great amenities, nicely furnished balcony. The pool area was lovely, plenty of beds and the very pleasant Marielena on hand. We were on a B&B basis and boy were we pleased with that decision! The breakfast service was horrendous and the guy who appeared to be in charge was totally incompetent, no direction given to staff, no perception of what was happening around him he just kept coming out with food we hadn't ordered and then passing it on to other bewildered diners. We witnessed several people just get up and leave out of sheer frustration. We had to change our mindset and just sit back and enjoy the pantomime whilst hoping at least to get a hot cup of coffee. We had one evening meal in the hotel and that was awful, again waiting staff abrupt and rude with the exception of Fanis who was doing his utmost to put things right. Yes, the Covid situation was having some impact but shouldn't affect the staff standards. The nearby restaurants were nice but proved difficult to get to at night time as it was pitch black and to get a taxi it had to come from Skiathos town so charged accordingly, around E16 euros. We found it easier to either get the free hotel bus or local bus (2 Euros) into town where there was a great choice of restaurants. No complaints about reception staff and cleaners as everywhere was absolutely spotless, We had booked this hotel as it advertised a tennis court but it was being used for storage and upon asking were we just told it's not available. Totally unacceptable! Loved Skiathos and we are planning to go again next year but not to this hotel.

We were a group of four and spent a week at the Skiathos Princess Hotel at the end of September. It was a birthday treat. We first spotted this hotel four years ago when we were holidaying on the island and when an opportunity came up to stay we grabbed it. It exceeded our expectations. This was mainly due to the gracious and welcoming staff who turned our holiday into an experience we shall not forget. So a huge thank you to you all. On arrival it was clear that one of our party would be having some difficulty with the accommodation booked and we were swiftly upgraded to a ground floor suite that accommodated all four of us. What a treat that was and again shows the manager and his team going that extra distance to ensure their visitors are well looked after for their entire stay. Our apartment was cleaned thoroughly each day, the beds turned down each evening which was a treat to come back to. The maids were friendly and would always give us an extra ten minutes or so if we needed it. Superb hanging space in the wardrobes and even more space in the good quality drawer units. A good number of sockets for gadget charging and the hairdryer was better than my own, so that stayed in the suitcase. The beds were large and very comfortable, sometimes so much I didn't actually want to get up. But when the tummy rumbled it was time for the included breakfast. We could have had it in the apartment but then we'd have missed out on the huge variety on offer. The Princess offers a buffet-plus breakfast with freshly cooked omelettes or pancakes and an enormous selection of pastries, fruit, and hot food to satisfy anyone's palate. Large tables set out for larger parties and smaller tables for two people or four. Cannot be faulted, excellent. After breakfast it was time to explore the grounds. Lots of real grass areas lead you to the large swimming pool with comfortable sunbeds, a jacuzzi pool and a pool for the chlldren which lies behind the adult one. Then off to the beach, the private area of the beach has comfortable sunbeds with bamboo parasols for the much needed shade at certain times of the day. And curtained cabanas are available if you would like some privacy, some did but most didn't. Excellent swimming, starts shallow and then gets deep. If you don't want to use the beds provided there is a large expanse of beach close by for just lying around on your towels. I should mention here that pool towels are provided and there is a bin by the pool bar for leaving the wet ones. Dry ones are left the next day by the maid. There is a pool bar, obviously next to the pools which serve good quality snacks, ice creams and light lunches. You can sit in the sun or in the shade to eat. Plenty of room. By the beach there is another bar for drinks and very, very nice toilets. That was such a surprise to find such lovely toilets for beachgoers. Well done whoever thought of that. Thank you Stelios and Ignatius, we will

We enjoyed our stay at Magic Hotel. The room is comfortable and very clean, the bathroom is great and the sea-view balcony is large enough and hidden from the view, so it feels private. The breakfast has enough options, typical for a good 4* hotel, cold cuts, sausages, eggs, cereals, jams, fruit, coffee/tea... The whole staff was super nice during our whole stay and tried their best to make our stay the best as possible, especially the ladies at the reception desk. The checkout was very easy and painless, we could use the private luggage area to keep our stuff and also use the showers for the rest of the day. The pool area is nice. Not too big, big enough. There was hardly anyone there even though it was high season, so we could take a splash and refresh there. The sunbeads are really nice and towels are provided. There was always free parking space, although the parking is a bit tricky to get to with a bigger car, as it's steep and relatively narrow way up. As for the surroundings, Agia Paraskevi beach is not too bad, but there are much better ones nearby. During the high season we suggest getting around by car, as the bus is usually overcrowded and often won't even make the stop at this station because it's full.

The location of this place was good and very close to everything. There is also a good wash and fold laundry service close by called ''Snow White' (5min walk). We were traveling Greece with children for a month, so accessible laundry services are always great. The staff at this hotel was very friendly, but after check-in we never saw anyone at the hotel until check-out. This place does not provide parking so if you are renting a car finding parking is very difficult. The room we were given (quadruple room) was way too small for us with not enough beds. They knew we were a family of five when we booked and they gave us a room with three beds (bunkbed with 2 single beds, and one double bed). Room size was also very, very small. This room should not be offered to families of five. The noise level in the hotel from young party goers was terrible (people slamming doors throughout the night, people laughing and yelling in the hallways, people partying in their rooms). I'm not sure if it's always like this, but the fact that no one working at the hotel did anything about it shows me exactly what type of guests this place caters too, and doesn't care about those who are trying to sleep at 3am. Our room description read 'Large balcony with unobstructed views of Skiathos town'. Our balcony was small, about 3' x 6' and there was a huge pine tree blocking our view. Complete opposite of what was in our booking.com photo and room description. If you are given the same description you may want to clarify with them to make sure that's what you are getting. There are much better places to stay in Skiathos if you're a family with young children. Take your time and look around - Don't stay here.

We have just returned from a week's holiday at this lovely hotel in Skiathos. The hotel is a great choice for anybody who wants to be close to both the town and the beach as it is only 15 minutes walk to the town and less than that to the beach. The hotel is located up a steep hill but the views over the bay are fantastic. We ate out in the old port area every night and enjoyed the walk back - it was good exercise after a meal and a few glasses of wine! The hotel has its own car park and there were always free places available which was convenient as we hired a car for a few days. The family who run the hotel and their staff were very friendly and always on hand to help. The hotel has a nice pool and even in August sunbeds and umbrellas were always available during the day. There is a pool bar open until 9pm which serves snacks, ice cream and drinks at reasonable prices. The room was comfortable with fantastic views from the balcony. It had a fridge and kettle. There was a good choice of food in the breakfast buffet including home made cakes and bread which were delicious. Many thanks again to everybody at Hotel Rene.

We’ve just returned from a weeks stay at the Irida. The location is perfect. 10 mins drive from the airport but outside of the main hustle and bustle of Skiathos Town. It’s located off the main road that runs from one side of the island to the other. It is elevated (probably not ideal for those less mobile) but there is a car park just in front of the hotel so if you have a car, it’s not too much of a problem but also taxis will take you to the very top of the driveway. Our room was spacious and cleaned every day. The view across the Aegean sea towards smaller islands was absolutely breathtaking. The room itself was slightly detached from the main hotel and personally we felt slightly disappointed by its decor. It felt like a cave, with the kids bedroom like a large dressing room- there were no windows and no air con in that room (with daily temps around 35c and by night 29c it was necessary to have some ventilation). The kitchen area was not finished as in tiles missing or damaged and the kitchen units were quite shoddy as were parts of the bathroom. The kitchen area wasn’t equipped at all for cooking or preparing food. It did have plates and glasses and an oven but no cooking utensils etc. There is a fridge which was a real bonus. The air con in the main room broke down but was quickly fixed after a very sticky night. We have two teens so WiFi is important to them but unfortunately they couldn’t get WiFi in our room. I’m sure other rooms in the hotel would be able to get it though. It’s definitely available at the pool area. The staff are lovely and we can’t say enough good things about them. They work long hours and will do everything possible to ensure that you have a super stay. Efi in particular is the jewel in the crown, welcomes everyone as they return from days out, is happy to chat about anything and everything, and was great fun to be around whilst still being very professional. Breakfast is good and varied. Plenty of fruit, Greek yoghurts, cakes, pastries, ham, cheese, eggs (all varieties), bread, bacon, sausages, teas, coffee, juices etc The pool is small but it’s a welcome place to cool off and relaxing to sit around and look out over the sea. Sunbed frames have probably seen better days but the beds are comfortable. Towels are provided at the pool area and always plenty of sun beds to go around. All in all I would definitely recommend the hotel for a great relaxing family holiday.

Just got back from the Villa Christina, missing it already. It was very peaceful and relaxing which is just as I like it. The staff Jenni and Christina at the bar are so friendly and always available for a chat about the area and the history of the Villa. Our room was very spacious, we had two bedrooms even though there was only two of us, I think it was for a family of four, with a large living area and kitchen. The apartment was clean with free aircon in the lounge area. Two electric rings in the kitchen with a kettle, fridge and plenty of cooking utensils, no toaster or microwave though. Some people have mentioned in their review about the hill, this is not a bad hill it took us 10-15 mins walk and it was a pleasant walk. There are only a few restaurants at the bottom of the hill within walking distance, so you need to get the bus into Skiathos Town, the bus stop is number 13 and is just at the bottom of the hill. The beach Vromolimnos is at the back of the Villa down a rough path way, if you are not steady on your feet this would not be suitable or for very young children to walk. My daughter and I did it twice, the first time as the pathway narrowed and went into the bushes we thought we had gone the wrong way but we hadn't. It was quite funny when we got to the end and a relief as we saw the beach. You can get to this beach from the main road but it would take longer. There are other beaches within walking distance but this was the nearest. The owner of the Villa, called Miltos [probably haven't spelt that correctly] was very friendly and one evening gave us a lift back up the hill to the Villa. All in all I would certainly return to the Villa for a holiday and would recommend to my friends. Thank you guys for a lovely holiday.

Spent a lovely week at La Piscine in the middle of September. The staff were very friendly, helpful and worked very hard to make sure our stay was perfect. We ate dinner twice in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Our waited suggested a wine to go with the food and was very knowledgeable about the extensive wine selection, the wine was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was buffet style and had just about everything anyone could want. If it isn't there I'm sure they would do their best to get it for you. Nothing was too much trouble! Our room was very clean on arrival and waiting for us was a nice bottle of wine in an ice bucket and a plate of freshly prepared fresh fruit. This was pre ordered but well worth the extra. During our stay the maid kept the room perfect. Clean bedding and towels were always there. Pool towels are provided and beach towels available from reception. Hotel is a short 10 mins walk to town where there are lots of shops, tavernas, restraints and bars to choose from. The first couple of hundred yards from the hotel isn't very picturesque but it's lovely once past. la Piscine Art Hotel is well worth a visit.

We have stayed at this Beautiful resort for the last week of September 2018 and have been simply amazed by the standard and quality of the accommodation. The view from our Maisonette was breathtaking only 10 mins walk down to the beach and bay of Megali Ammos. The cleanliness was faultless - thanks Angela, who kept our maisonette spotlessly clean and provided us with fresh towels and toiletries when required (no skimping) The quality of the furnishings comparable to an international Five star hotel. The kitchen being well equiped with a full size cooker, fridge freezer, plentiful cooking utensils and crockery / glass's etc. Open plan dining area, Patio doors leading onto balcony and side window offering panoramic views beyond. Our lounge area was perfectly equipped two Sofa beds, coffee table, console, 32" LCD TV with multiple satellite channels, and a rustic plant arrangement. There were ample mirrors and lighting options about the apartment making Make-up and mood lighting options possible. The balcony equipped with table and chairs and sun loungers made it ideal for a lazy days enjoying the sun and view of Megali Ammos bay or the mountains unbeatable. The two bathroom were of good size, -one entrance / living leval and the other on the first floor above the spiral staircase suited our needs perfectly. A dividable corridor / door between the living area meant this could be en-suite to the ground floor bedroom or separated off when the living area was in use, making the space practical for both areas. Beds were firm but comfortable and off good quality and linen changed twice weekly. The hot water supply was endless and the showers powerful. The double bedroom was on the entrance / living level and the Twin bedded room on the first level. Their were ample Electric sockets throughout the maisonette. The shared Bar-B-Que area was perfectly planned and set out with relevant utensils and equipment for the best chef with oven, hob, fridge large BBQ / fire pit, and a delightful rustic table and chairs for 10x hungry guests. their was a music system / speakers available and a libery of books and novels to read and return. A supply of cooking essentials from olive oil to herbs, spice, local Pomegranates, lemons & limes were also either provided free to guests by the owner or / and donated from departing guests... Great idea and a nice community feel / spirit. The adjacent Spa area and Gym was a gem, providing cardiovasular equipment and weights, all well maintained and clean. The multi function sauna and steam cabin was perfect either before the start of a day in the sun or at the end. The hot tub / hydrotherapy spa enclosed in its own Gazebo was clean and relaxing offering many seating options to bubble away an hour or so.. and the mood lighting and waterfall / shoulder massage made it an almost daily pilgrimage after a good workout. The only thing missing is a Pool / Cafe / Bar but this is available to use free of charge at Nikk

If you are thinking of booking Hellen studios, do it, you will not be disappointed. The studios are spacious, clean and well equipped with a nice sized balcony. The location is great, literally 2 minutes walk to the sands of Megali Ammos beach and no more than 10 minutes walk into Skiathos town, so you have the best of both. Free car parking close by. Supermarket, tavernas and restaurants all very close by. The owner lives on site and cannot do enough for you, he even drove us back to the airport. We will definately be returning. thank you Hellen Studios.

The hotel has everything you need to feel just perfect. The hotel is placed very close to the city center as well as the port. It has many parking places, but in order to get there call the staff 15 minutes before to guide you to the hotel-waze application does not guide you very well there. You can access every point of the island with any means of transportation. The rooms are very spacious, clean, equipped everyday with all that you will possibly need. Also, the food and breakfast is flavorsome, with local, authentic products. The crew working there is very pleasant and discreet. However, if you needed anything, they would immediately appear. The pool, as well as the other poll-related facilities were also excellent and well done maintained. In conclusion, we warmly recommend this hotel, because the atmosphere, food and crew were outstanding. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and we can’t wait to go back there. Thank you all.

We called from the airport at 10:30 pm looking for accomodation after our flight was delayed until the following day because of 'Medicane' Zorbas. Stavros and Apostolos welcomed us with open arms (very late!) and were waiting for us in torrential rain to show us a huge room with mezzanine for the four of us. Just what we needed after a stressful 36 hours. Fellow passengers arrived much later than us, (after 1am) and they were still waiting outside for them to make sure they arrived safely. We would be very happy to come back under different circumstances. The accommodation is very generous and very well kept. Our room opened through French doors into a beautiful courtyard garden with fruit trees and (of course!) local cats. Father and son also run the delightful cafe restaurant next door. But we will remember our short visit most for the warmth, generosity and genuine hospitality shown to us by the very kind owners.

For anyone considering going to Skiathos next year 2020, which you probably are to be reading reviews of the Alkyon, then read on. You might be confused as to why these reviews go from 2 star to 5 star, I will try to clarify. The 5 stars are obviously very satisfied customers, many of whom go back to this hotel year after year, as my husband and I do. Next year will be our 15th or 16th, I’ve lost count. The lower stars of course are entitled to their opinion. I have written many reviews and tried to show the true ambience of this gem of a hotel, and I do not want to risk repeating myself. However, those who complain about the breakfast, or should I say ‘moan” here is a list, by memory (so possibly more) of the breakfast on offer every morning. Eaten on a rooftop terrace with spectacular views over the harbour, watching the sailing boats go in and out and the ferries arriving and departing. (Beautifully furnished inside area should it be raining) It is buffet style with a vast array of dishes for you to choose from: Tea, coffee, orange and grapefruit juice. Fresh croissants, fresh cake and Viennese whirls. 4 types of preserves such as fig, marmalade, jam and honey. Baguette slices, butter, margarine Muesli, coco pops, cornflakes. Choice of absolutely delicious toppings such as Greek yoghurt, soft chocolate, cherry syrup, and other amazing traditional fruit syrups Tinned fruit cocktail; fresh watermelon; fresh honeydew. Fresh beef tomatoes, cucumber, olives, fetta cheese, sliced cheese and ham. Hot dishes as follows: bacon, frankfurters, chopped omelette, fried eggs, boiled eggs As soon as your plates are finished an attentive waiter will clear it from your table, leaving you free to go back for as much as you like on a clean plate. And so if you are considering going to the Alkyon then book it before gets full. It is just far enough out of the town to be quiet enough; it is in easy walking distance of everything you need to be central. Its location is second to one. The Alkyon is not a luxurious massive corporate establishment like the Palaces etc, it is a family run Greek hotel and that is what some people seem to miss. When we first went we didn’t know anyone, now they are our true heartfelt friends, in fact they are family to us now. Maybe see you next year folks; we will be there as we have already booked. We stayed a week in this hotel, booked by travel agency.I imagine that people who have been satisfied got good bigger rooms,we didnt. We were very unhappy with our small tiny room. The picture on agency website didnt match to the room we got at all. When we complained, they told dont look at picture! So what else you look when you book a hotel? On that photo room looked nice and bigger, we got nothing like that. So,you never know what you can get in this hotel. The room was so small that even no space for luggage, kitchen corner tiny, only 6 hangers for 2 people clothes etc.Bathroom was the worse, again no space.I hit myself many times on sharp corners.Shower with plastic curtains with bad smell, around body when you shower, very unpleasant..and water can flow out anyway. There was no place to put your shampoo or anything, just on floor.Sleeping was also not good,as green light of exit sign(the one you see in corridors)was shining directly to eyes when on bed, never saw such thing before anywhere. What they think, should we run out at night and dont know where the door is?All this made our stay unsatisfied and we didnt like it.People were very unfriendly when we complained and when we told the room was not the same.As usually, they told they were fully booked.I dont think so,as we saw that the hotel was not.I think they are friendly only when you are OK and everything goes well. Also,as you can read the owners answers, they are quite arrogant against who complains. The room was very clean though and the hotel is in very good central position to everything. We used it only to sleep and go to the beautiful beaches. But we didnt relax in this hotel and dont recommend it,as you dont know what you get.You can see that the hotel was built to save space and get just money from tourists.Thats our opinion. If you are lucky, you get better.

We visited here with another couple from 20th September to 27th after picking this property because of the reviews on trip advisor as we have never visited Skiathos before. The rooms were fine with a hot shower of decent power (usual greek splashing on the floor) beds were very comfortable, fridge with water thats topped up every day, free safe, compimentary toiletries,a tv though we didn't watch so can't say what channels were available ,air con,our room viewed over the gardens and a maid service that was great as she was very effecient and always chatty & smiling. The pool area is set in lovely grounds with sunbeds always available & pool towels laid out. We were bed & breakfast for the week and although at first glance it looks small everything is there from yoghurts to pastries to bacon all set in a bright airy room with coffee from a machine (my wife & friend raved about the breakfast as they loved it) A couple of days in the week they offered a station doing pancakes and omlettes Koukanaries is basically a long road with hotels ,few bars and restaurants on it & the hotel is located at one end but all the amenities are within easy reach & we enjoyed all the restaurants & the bars which also show sports. The main beach is across the road through the nature reserve & is only a ten minute walk or you could walk the full length of the road to the far end of the beach, its a lovely beach with 2 beach bars ,sunbeds & watersports. Also by walking down the road there are two tracks off to the right which take you to either Mandraki ortwo other bays depending which you took. The walk is lovely through the pine forest & the beaches are totally unspoilt & really quiet. Travel to Skiathos main town is 2 Euros & the buses run a regular timetable taking around 1/2 hr depending on stops ,the town is well worth a visit and we even went back to do the Mama Mia open air theatre which is cheesy good fun as well as doing the "have to" pics at the end of the very short runway Whist we were there unfortunately Thomas Cook went bust & having read online horror stories at various hotels around europe I cannot praise the staff enough here as they were wonderful even helping to check if the airport transfers were still running. Would I recommend this hotel...yes as its a great place to stay whilst exploring this scenic island

My boyfriend and I have just returned from Skiathos and we were so pleased that we chose to stay at this hotel. It is 1 mile from the Airport, 5 minute walk to the port/town, we couldn't have asked for a better location. When we arrived we were given a bottle of water and a greek sweet to try, we were then taken to our room which had everything we needed for our stay. The best thing about it was the view, waking up to a view of the sea every day was perfect, and having breakfast bought to the room was new for us too - this included fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bread, cold meats and cheese, tea, coffee, juice. We were unfortunately the last Thomas Cook flight out to Skiathos so had trouble getting home again but the staff were so friendly, they had no problem with us staying an extra night - they also upgraded our room for the night and let us check out later than the usual 12pm check out. We really appreciated this as we were unsure how we were going to get home at this point. The pool area is very quiet and the views are amazing. I would 100% recommend this hotel, even after exploring the island of Skiathos we did not see a hotel we would have rather stayed in. If we were to return to Skiathos one day, we would definitely stay here again!

For the past five years I’ve stayed at the Aretousa passing through or returning from Alonissos, unless they were booked and I couldn’t get a reservation. The people who run it have always gone above and beyond and I really liked staying here. Over the years I’ve gotten to know the people at the desk. A new woman took over in the past couple years and Mara is great. But she wasn’t there when I went to check in this visit. It was a hot day after a rough ferry ride and one of those taxi rides where they shove multiple fares into the car. My daughter had joined me at the end of my trip in Alonissos and we were both checking into the Aretousa for our last night in the islands. I was dragging my luggage up the stairs into the hotel when a woman behind the desk stopped me. She pointed me down the stairs and for some reason, likely exhaustion, I didn’t ask any questions and followed. My daughter assumed this wasn’t unusual and followed too. Up the street the Aretousa woman pushed open a door. It didn’t look like a hotel—I suppose because I didn’t see a reception area (that doesn’t mean it wasn’t there). There was a narrow spiral stairwell with what looked like marble steps. My room was on the very top floor. The rooms weren’t even numbered. The woman simply said I could still return to the Aretousa for breakfast in the morning. I guess this place didn’t have breakfast. The room was hot, sparse, and tiny. From the toilet one leg was in the shower and the other under the sink. It was very clean. There appeared to be air conditioning but if it was it was out of Freon. I think it was something similar that doesn’t work well. I called my travel agent. I don’t know enough Greek to say what I wanted to say and the man who gave me a key didn’t speak any English. No judgement there—it is Greece. My travel agent told me that the Aretousa had overbooked. I was disappointed and I felt the staff at the Aretousa should have explained/called/let me know. I tried not to hate this other hotel—but I disliked it. I looked at pictures of it online before I wrote reviews of both hotels and I think they have nicer rooms than I had. I ran into people in the hallway and they all seemed happy. (Maybe their air conditioning worked.) The man who gave me the key also was kind enough to carry my luggage up that stairway and back down again in the morning. One other reason I stay at the Aretousa is they have a lift/elevator. I didn’t go to breakfast at the Aretousa. Frankly I was too annoyed to want to go back there at all, but my flight from Skiathos next morning was late and I had to leave the Kira. So I went to the Aretousa to ask about leaving my luggage and was charged that small tax you pay hotels in Greece the morning after you stay. Mara was there, kind and apologetic. It didn’t undo my miserable hot night at the other hotel. I wish her well and the Aretousa in general, but I won’t return, for me a trust has been broken.

After initially reading the tripadvisor comments, post booking, I questioned proceeding with our holiday at this hotel and can only say that had we changed we would have missed out on a truly amazing service and hotel! I am not sure if some of the other comments were meant for a different hotel or expectations of a Greek hotel were being judged against London standard!? Our room was spacious, clean and furthermore cleaned with fresh towels and bedding every day, not to mention the aircon, which was at no extra charge! The location of the hotel provided breathtaking views of Skiathos town by night and great plane spotting by day, with the added bonus that the hills surrounding the hotel proved for some great early morning runs, allowing for us to return and indulge on the great breakfast buffet! The private beach was a great bonus with free sun beds, great snorkelling and beach combing for the pretty shells and stones, many hours which were spent with us being the only family on there! The hotel staff were friendly, personal and could not do more for us with any request we had, big or small always fulfilled with a smile; this was even proven with their eagerness and willingness to help out other guests even when struggling with breakfast equipment, for which Rich from Newton Abbott was most grateful for, so that he could get milk for his coffee! :) We would certainly recommend this hotel to others and return for our next trip to Skiathos!
