We, a group of 22 persons, arrived at 6 pm and dinner was planned at 7 pm. Order taking was very difficult (on loose sheets!). Numerous meals proposed on the menu were not available. Starter dishes arrived rather rapidly but 19 main courses were delivered after a lond delay (a pizza in a cardboard box). 3 main courses were not prepared: chef and cook (2 persons, very young and seeming whithout experience!) were not informed of these orders! After a claim in the kitchen, the remaining orders arrived at 9:15. Numerous errors as regards to the desserts. We left the restaurant approx. 3 hours after our arrival. All the employees we spoke with appeared overtaken by the events. A very disappointing, unpleasant, experience.

The hotel is just on the outskirts of Ipswich. The staff are very welcoming, and extremely helpful. The rooms are of a good size and very clean. The housekeeping staff cleaned our room every morning after we had gone out, which was excellent. The restaurant food is of a very high standard and there is a good choice including vegetarian options. In the bar area where it is of a relaxed nature, you can order food from the bar menu or the restaurant menu. Either way, nothing is ever too much trouble. The swimming pool, sauna and steam room are a must. My husband used the gym which was of an average size and then would come down to the pool area for a jacuzzi. Although they have the spa treatment available, I can't really comment as I didn't use the facility. If you want a relaxing time or want to visit the seaside, Felixstowe is only a 30minute drive away. There are also many National Trust houses to visit. This the second time we have been to the Belstead Hotel and I can honestly say we will be visiting it again.

Very chic hotel with well designed rooms and super smart bathrooms and quality toiletries. Amazing choice at breakfast and all the food was good quality. Staff were very helpful. We have a blue badge and they found a space for us when all the disabled spaces had been filled by non-disabled guests. Convenient location and nice outside space by the river. Pleasant lounge area downstairs and all the guests seemed to be having a great time. We thought it was good value as well.

Couldn’t be happier with the service I received and condition of the room upon my unannounced arrival! The gentleman at reception was very friendly, professional and accommodating, (Haroon I think his name was?) I turned up on the off chance they had a spare room, I was very lucky! The room was spacious, clean, and the building was quiet and peaceful. Will definitely stay again when in the area, was a real pleasure and an absolute bargain price. To say that I was disappointed with, the Station Hotel in Ipswich is the greatest understatement of the century, the ‘hotel’ is a disgrace and an absolute hovel of a place in which I would not make my worst enemy reside at. The exterior and bar restaurant area are,at first impression good, in terms of style and décor however it soon becomes apparent that it is not very clean. However, when you climb the stairs to the accommodation this hovel of a place to stay reveals itself, the corridors and hallways are very run down and have a desperate requirement for a clean let alone a coat of paint and some maintenance. The room was awful, if I could have found another place to stay in the locality I would not have stayed it was astonishingly poor, in terms of décor, maintenance, and upkeep. This manifested itself when I noticed a hole in the wall, the ancient worn-out furniture, the stained wall above the electric heater, the lack of any bedside lighting (in fact, the only lighting in the room was from the harsh ceiling light), the television did not have an aerial therefore it only had BBC channels to watch, even though the room benefited from wardrobe yet with no clothes hangers it was rendered it useless, the hot tap over the basin was not connected to the water supply, therefore, there was no hot water, the only window in the room had single glazing and with so many gaps in the frame the cold air from outside streamed in the room making it impossible for the small electric heater to heat the room, the old mattress on the bed made for an uncomfortable nights sleep not helped due to a thin duvet and worn out pillows… I could add more... The website states that... ‘We have a selection of newly re-furbished beautiful rooms available’ and absolutely wholly an untruth, the site goes on to inform you that guests should expect ‘a comfortable well presented double room with ensuite shower. The bright and airy bedrooms at Riverside Hotel have large windows and tea/coffee facilities. All rooms have a work desk and TV, and ironing facilities are also provided. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout’ apart from the Wi-Fi all is fiction. A GREAT PLACE TO BE… as headlined on the website… it is definitely NOT. This is a terrible, disgusting hovel of a place to stay. The owner is delusional if he believes that he is offering guests ‘ a comfortable well presented’ place to stay however it was apparent that he does not care about that because when I presented him details of my stay he was full of excuses, could not bring himself to apologise for the inconvenience and lies told. He does not deserve anyone’s business. His attitude is replicated by the rest of the management team who also do not care about the hotel or any level of customer service. Described as a three-star hotel, it is not even worthy of being a one-star and should be avoided at all costs.

The hotel is currently under renovation on the second floor and can only be taken to the second floor by the staff elevator, so the overall experience is not ideal. The room is relatively small in general. Some service staff will help us to lay the sofa bed for children, but there are not many good hotels here in Yipu, so this is a convenient hotel from the central city. . No breakfast choice, the restaurant looks small. Parking is 7 pounds a night, which is ok.

I stayed last weekend and am currently trying to check in for this weekend. Last weekend no one was at the desk for nearly 15mins when I arrived at 10pm. Someone from the Beefeater adjacent had to find someone for me. The bell at reception did not work. My booking for 2 Nights last week was only held for one night and I had to reactivate my key card for the second night. Now, having arrived just after 8pm (it is now 8.26) I still do not have a room despite having a reference number and an email. The room was booked in someone else’s name and last week that name was changed to mine. I gave my name initially and then, once I found the email that was forwarded onto me with the booking reference, I explained to the desk person that it may be in the other persons name. I gave them the reference AND my phone so they could see the email and the name of the booker etc. This seemed baffling to them and after many minutes of silence I asked, exasperated, to be put into a room as after a 3 hr drive I just wanted to get settled. I cannot understand why checking into this premier inn in both weekends has been challenging and problematic. I often stay in Premier inns around the country and these are often booked by other people and the check in is smooth and welcoming. To top things off, having now arrived in my room, it’s is freezing at 13.5 degrees! Really the poorest of experiences.

We were moved to 3 different rooms. Our final room was dirty. Bathroom phlegm on sink. Mouldy black sink. Poo in toilet. Shower dirty. Sheets wernt changed from previous guests. Should have been a king-sized bed. No rooms in the hotel had king-sized beds. I fell out of the bed twice. I am disabled and this is not acceptable. Terrible experience. Will never use a travel lodge again.

I am not often writing reviews, but this hotel deserves my time, and especially the front desk lady, I think her name was Esther, she was like a God sent when we came to Ipswich with no plans to stay, and we where tired and really needed somewhere to stay. We booked 30 minutes before arrival, and the front desk lady met us with such a nice and welcoming attitude that we did decide to stay an extra night because the first impression was so good because of her! The hotel is clean, and have everything your need. The service is supreme! Way more than I have seen in other three start hotels before. I can highly recommend this hotel!

Firstly, the staff are absolutely fantastic. They can't do enough for you, and make you feel extremely comfortable. We had dogs with us and they also made our two dogs feel very welcome. We stayed here for a wedding, and got about 5 hours sleep in two nights, and that's not because of our party life! The hotel is right on the harbour, which is stunning, BUT, you are also right next door to which seems like Ipswich's only club, Isaacs! Our room overlooked Isaacs!! the room was about 30C inside and had NO air con! Therefore we had to have the windows open on both nights and all we heard for two nights was drunks walking up and down and the horrendous music from Isaacs. I know the hotel can't do anything about this, but at least have air con in the room so the windows can be shut and you can ignore the noise! We wouldn't return purely because of this. Gave 3 stars because as I said, the staff were fantastic but overall experience wasn't great.

I have been looking at hotels with my father for a while, and found this hotel to be the best bang for the buck when it comes to location and facilities. Staff was absolutely professional and especially Heather was incredibly helpful when it came to suggestions for places to eat and leisure. Will absolutely stay again and can't wait to see what this place has more to offer

Great view from the dining room over the quay. Room was clean and breakfast was really nice overall very good for a short stay. Parking was a little hard to find at night as it’s a bit hidden under the building £6 for overnight parking was in addition to the room rate but not too bad. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
